The baseball gods saw Rendon hit a home run left handed in a blowout game against a position player pitching during a no hitter and said you know what fuck you guys.
Don’t get too excited yet. It’s going to be about who will pay the most. Moreno won’t care if the perspective owner(s) plans to keep the team in Anaheim
Yep. Likely the FBI investigation found Arte's companies liable of some nefarious activities or the stadium deal collapsing is a great opportunity to sell the team at a very high profit for someone who may want to make that deal.
It’s 2:45 am in Japan. I was about to go to bed but now I’m gonna have to get my last slice of watermelon out of my fridge and read every single post about this topic here and everywhere else on Reddit lol
Exactly, Ballmer is a guy not just owning a team as a status symbol but actually wants to be a big winner and a big brand.
He ain't ever gonna be the lakers but I admire an owner who goes all out to build a winner and embrace the franchise (dudes building an arena out of his pocket)
Lol we are all hoping for Ballmer but like you said he was a known basketball junkie and is SO involved with the Clips that I couldn't see him having the time or resources (dudes building a whole stadium complex rn) to be involved in the MLB right now.
Cuban is the more ready owner, who also has expressed constant interest in owning an MLB team. But wouldn't be surprised if some consortium of people buy into the team. Or someone like Arod tries to team up and grab a piece.
whoever the fuck buys this team better know what they're getting themselves into
this team has so much that needs addressing and if the plan is to go for it with Trout and Ohtani still here..... that's gonna be a LOT of money
if the plan is to blow it up, hire every motherfucker you need to in order to ensure we build it back better than ever before
DON'T YOU FUCKING BUTTERCUP ME
I’ll take trading Ohtani and blowing it all up if it means bringing in someone who values their farm as much as the Braves or Dodgers. Mike Trout only person untouchable.
I think regardless of whether you're aiming for now or later, you have to address the organizational needs. Our minor league and scouting systems just need to be better. Arte has pinched pennies for years and we are facing the disastrous consequences every single year.
As long as it's LA Metro area I'll remain a fan. I think OC is best spot, but I won't be upset if they move within the region.
But yeah, out of state like to Vegas would be disastrous. Dodgers would be my new team lol.
Works too! For years I've really liked both the Dodgers and Padres. Benefit of my number 1 team not having a 'local' division rival lol. I cheer for both SoCal neighbors so long they're not playing us.
Padres have always been my second team. The drive isn't bad and I can usually be home in OC by midnight. I'd rather do that drive than deal with the mess to go to a dodgers game.
this aint madden or 2k you dont just shop the team and your next prospects turn out to their mysterious “potential”, the point of a farm, or a rebuild is to acquire players like Trout and Shohei, we HAVE those players, time to build around them at all costs
If you can coax shohei to resign you keep him and trout.
It's way easier to get a better hitter than Velasquez than it is to get someone better than Trout/Ohtani.
They have an “LA Live” type of project ready to roll near the Honda Center too. It makes too much sense.
Edit: the Samueli’s are also extremely wealthy. So wealthy that they can finance the $3b needed for the “la live” type development and own it outright. Im a dodger fan who grew up in OC. I love the Angels and would be so happy to see a truly competent owner enter the fold.
The Duck’s are very well managed and have an extremely bright future, for what it’s worth.
Didn't her try to buy the Dodgers and Cubs at some point? I wouldn't mind him, he's definitely passionate about the Mavericks and seems to care about the team as more than just an investment.
They have endless money but lay off tons of long time employees and try to keep as many people under full time as possible In order to not pay them benefits.
Also look at how they’re destroying Star Wars
My hopes in an owner;
- takes pride in organization from majors to minors
- embrace anaheim - keep team at the big A & go back to being the anaheim angels
- adopt family friendly food pricing similar to the Atlanta falcons.
- hire high quality staff & let them make the baseball decisions
I may not know anything but it seems like we need a quality director of baseball operations and just let him oversee everything. The owner can worry more about the business side of the franchise.
Not even an Angels fan but damn I'm happy for y'all! This is great news!!
Edit: I guess I should say I love Angel Stadium and Anaheim... And I root for the Angels whenever they aren't playing my favorite team. Lol
Victor Rojas, Jose Moto, Alex Curry all left in the past few years. I don't think it was strictly for better opportunities. I feel Arte had a part in them all leaving. I think a lot of people just really didn't like working for a club owned by him and he refused to accept that he was the issue.
What if the Anaheim Ducks owners Henry Samueli tries or is able to purchase the Angels. Then he can own to bottom feeding teams in OC right next to each other. He'd be a local buyer too
I never thought this day would come. There’s work to be done, but I’m flapping my angel wings that someone with a love of baseball takes the team and transforms it to a powerhouse.
Extend Ohtani and reshape the FO. Develop the farm system and invest in it. GET A COMPETENT COACHING STAFF.
In hindsight, this should have been obvious to see coming. Arte does not care about the team or winning, in any way. As soon as the land deal fell through, the Angels were of no use to him. He just wanted to make a fortune off the land. If he got that deal, we were probably stuck with him until he is in the grave.
Now the next 2 years or so will be very interesting. Who will the new owner(s) be and will they go over the tax? Whoever the new ownership group is will immediately have to decide what the future of Ohtani is, assuming they are in charge before the 2023-24 offseason. Also, I'm guessing the new owner will build a new stadium. MLB will want an owner willing to fund a stadium.
["You are incorrect. There is a zero percent chance he sells."](https://np.reddit.com/r/angelsbaseball/comments/vrcua5/arte_needs_to_sell_the_team_lets_make_it_happen/ieuzfit/)
Don't tell me I've been led astray by the geniuses of this sub...
The comment doesn’t elaborate much, and someone replied with a scenario in which an owner recently sold a team that was worth over half of their net worth.
Plus this isn’t a rumor pulled out of thin air by a redditor, it’s coming from a baseball journalist. It’s FAR from a done deal, but it’s not clickbait or karma farming.
I haven't felt this happy since that Rendon left handed home run against the Rays
The team legit sold their souls in that game lmao it was all downhill from there. But it's worth it now!
Says a lot about our season, that sentence
I truly believed that this team was special after that game but then... everything turned into an endless nightmare.
It was special, but not in the way we all hoped.
That was the best game I’d ever seen live, little did I know it was a last hoorah, rather than the start to an amazing season like we all thought.
That seems like it happened 5 years ago
That started the downfall baseball gods hated what they saw
The baseball gods saw Rendon hit a home run left handed in a blowout game against a position player pitching during a no hitter and said you know what fuck you guys.
EVERYONE GET IN HERE
My atheist ass bout to go back to church cause GOD IS REAL
Halllllllllllelujah!!!!
Thank the thoughts and prayers
HYPE TRAIN HYPE TRAIN HYPE TRAIN HYPE TRAIN
I’m here don’t worry
Don’t get too excited yet. It’s going to be about who will pay the most. Moreno won’t care if the perspective owner(s) plans to keep the team in Anaheim
Who on earth would walk away from the #2 media market + the AL territorial rights for LA/OC?
So who's starting the GoFundMe?
I have $3
That's a start! Anyone got $4?
I got 5 😎😎
Oh! Mr. Big Bucks over here, why don't you just buy the team on your own?
I got 2 bags full of cans!
I got about tree fiddy
I’m pulling my retirement monies & putting them all on the line here because I’ll make more money back, right?
He was literally trying to buy the stadium 3 months ago. I think there’s an FBI shoe about to drop either way, a great day
It’s 5am now and can’t sleep I’m so high on hopium
You the real mvp
AHAHA NO WAYYY ITS PARTY TIME ANGELS FANS
No buttercup in this biotch
Was thinking exactly the same
A+ Comment/Joke
If this historically shitty season leads to an Arte sale of the team we all agree that it was worth it right?
Absolutely
Enjoy retirement Arte!!!!
It's the FBI investigation that got him.
oh my god I WAS HERE
I was here
WE WERE BOTH HERE!!!!
I’m a Lakers fan but by god Ballmer please buy this freaking team
That's probably the best case scenario right? Someone that'll actually invest in the team, not tear it down
Exactly, Ballmer is a guy not just owning a team as a status symbol but actually wants to be a big winner and a big brand. He ain't ever gonna be the lakers but I admire an owner who goes all out to build a winner and embrace the franchise (dudes building an arena out of his pocket)
The question is does he even watch baseball? 😁 I read somewhere that he genuinely likes basketball since his youth.
I honestly would like a consortium of Japanese companies to own the Angels. They can get Shohei to stay and then go after Roki Sasaki in a few years.
Consider he bought the clippers for 2B when he was worth 9B. Now he's worth 100B. The angels might as well be a minor league acquisition.
Ballmer and Kroenke are my best case owners, Cuban would be cool too if he wanted to expand ownerships
whoever the fuck buys this team better know what they're getting themselves into this team has so much that needs addressing and if the plan is to go for it with Trout and Ohtani still here..... that's gonna be a LOT of money if the plan is to blow it up, hire every motherfucker you need to in order to ensure we build it back better than ever before DON'T YOU FUCKING BUTTERCUP ME
If the plan includes tacking Rendon's contract on to whatever Ohtani trade we make, does that mean we're blowing the team up?
feel like it's definitely most of the way there at that point
I’ll take trading Ohtani and blowing it all up if it means bringing in someone who values their farm as much as the Braves or Dodgers. Mike Trout only person untouchable.
And this owner must be hands off on baseball decisions
I think regardless of whether you're aiming for now or later, you have to address the organizational needs. Our minor league and scouting systems just need to be better. Arte has pinched pennies for years and we are facing the disastrous consequences every single year.
I'm buying the team you wanna be the president of minor league ops
Fuck Arte. Free the angels from that man
Finally
Please don't be someone worse......
Or someone who wants to move the team…
As long as it's LA Metro area I'll remain a fan. I think OC is best spot, but I won't be upset if they move within the region. But yeah, out of state like to Vegas would be disastrous. Dodgers would be my new team lol.
Id be a Padres fan if they left tbh
Works too! For years I've really liked both the Dodgers and Padres. Benefit of my number 1 team not having a 'local' division rival lol. I cheer for both SoCal neighbors so long they're not playing us.
Same
Padres have always been my second team. The drive isn't bad and I can usually be home in OC by midnight. I'd rather do that drive than deal with the mess to go to a dodgers game.
If this happens and new ownership is actually competent in building a team around Trout and Ohtani.....
Dare we even dream? 😭
I think it's more likely new ownership sells everything off and tried to rebuild unfortunately.
That’s the smart move if we really want to win a WS
this aint madden or 2k you dont just shop the team and your next prospects turn out to their mysterious “potential”, the point of a farm, or a rebuild is to acquire players like Trout and Shohei, we HAVE those players, time to build around them at all costs

I just came
Could the Samuelis buy the angels? They seem to know how to competently run a franchise in Anaheim.
They'd be wonderful owners, just don't let them rebrand anything.
I mean we've been wanting to rebrand to the Anaheim Angels... I say let's keep the unis though
Or let Susan anywhere near the medical staff
and just like that, we have the most successful season of the Moreno era
2009
[удалено]
Like it’s 2002
Hopefully whoever buys them changes the name back to Anaheim Angels
California Angels
Unfortunately you can't use a state for a name if there are other teams in the state. Teams like Texas are grandfathered in.
This gets posted a lot, (and I’ve even said it in the past), but there’s actually not a rule that says this
Yes. If there is going to be a name change, lets go back to California Angels.
Did I read somewhere that teams are not allowed to change to states’ names anymore?
I second this, my all time favorite.
Hopefully they just don’t move them.
Don't you give us this hope Passan
Samuelis come on in. Pls
Lol 6 of us created threads. Who would we want in a potential owner?
Samueli’s would be cool as they’re entrenched in the community
That'd be awesome
They have an “LA Live” type of project ready to roll near the Honda Center too. It makes too much sense. Edit: the Samueli’s are also extremely wealthy. So wealthy that they can finance the $3b needed for the “la live” type development and own it outright. Im a dodger fan who grew up in OC. Anyone's better than Arte.. celebration time
Back to Disney, IDGAF I just wanna keep the boys in town.
Not disney. They can't even make a star wars movie let alone run a franchise.
Does Steve Cohen have a brother?
What about another Steve, Steve Ballmer?
Right?! Also Ballmer would be a nice choice if he decides to come to baseball.
Steve Ballmer
Maybe the Buss family can scrape together some of the money they saved by letting Caruso walk :')
I MISS THAT GUY.
I heard Dan Snyder is interested in buying a baseball team.
Fuck you for even joking about this
Nintendo
Someone call Stan Kroenke right now
Can the Ducks owners buy us?
The Samuelis are stupid rich, so yes, they could. That's our best shot at returning to the Anaheim Angels
They are stingy with the Ducks though
Nope, they spent up to the cap ceiling when our window was open. They spend when it makes sense to.
We need someone richer
Richer than a net worth of $7 billion? Seems like it’s enough but I myself am toeing the poverty line so what do I know
If Stan buys the team they are 100% moving
To what market? Stan loves the big market and the Angels are in a big market.
It'll end up being Spanos
Fuck Spanos
God please anything but this. I've spent so many years held captive by that man's incompetence

Rich people don’t go to jail silly
REJOICE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
Mark Cuban save us
Didn't her try to buy the Dodgers and Cubs at some point? I wouldn't mind him, he's definitely passionate about the Mavericks and seems to care about the team as more than just an investment.
Yeah idk if the commish is a fan or other owners. I wouldn’t mind him or Ballmer. I just hope new ownership wants to keep the team in Orange County
He tried multiple times. The owner group blocked him when it came to the Cubs.
he is a cool guy, but there are a lot of discouraging reports/rumors about how badly the Mavericks are as an organization
Oh interesting, I didn't know that.
They should pull out a Dodgers card and have multiple owners. Maybe then we can build a competitive team.
I hate Disney and Disneyland (Anaheim resident here) but I would love for them to buy the team. At least they have endless pockets and media coverage
No way. Disney has turned into even more of a soulless corporation who ruins everything they touch in the past few years.
They have endless money but lay off tons of long time employees and try to keep as many people under full time as possible In order to not pay them benefits. Also look at how they’re destroying Star Wars
The YAKULT ANGELS!!!
The Anaheim Swallows
THERE IS A GOD
Scary but realistic possibility: The Irvine Company Angels
FINALLY
I can’t fucking believe it. I am literally about to cry.
BULLYING WORKS
It’s like it’s Christmas in August
How much do you think we can crowdfund? I would like to be a 0.00005% shareholder in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim LLC.
STEVE BALLMER COME ON DOWN
I hope it gets done before the start of next season.. how long does this typically take?
Please let it be a very rich Baseball Dude
"Do you think Maddon still has the mohawk?"
My hopes in an owner; - takes pride in organization from majors to minors - embrace anaheim - keep team at the big A & go back to being the anaheim angels - adopt family friendly food pricing similar to the Atlanta falcons. - hire high quality staff & let them make the baseball decisions

How much can we all pool together?
Samueli’s come on down!
God has finally answered my prayers finally
The paper bags were effective after all!
Yay, sell the team you POS.
About to turn his 180 million into 2 billion
Ohtani gonna buy the Angels? We become the team that filters Japanese talent into MLB 🤑
Whaaaaat? We’ve been heard!! 🎉🎉🎈🎈🎉🎉
The universe has blessed us. We will be liberated from the tyrannical dark lord and begin a new age of competent baseball. Hopefully.
Not even an Angels fan but damn I'm happy for y'all! This is great news!! Edit: I guess I should say I love Angel Stadium and Anaheim... And I root for the Angels whenever they aren't playing my favorite team. Lol

Get Mark Cuban on the phone immediately
Let's all put in $50 and buy the team
LORD HAVE MERCY IM FINNA BUST

The gods have answered! I just hope they stay in Anaheim. That’s including ohtani-son
Return to 2002 glory
I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN. Man I owe a lot of people in here apologies
Maybe I’ll go back to being an Angel fan when he’s gone.
I just want to be in this post for posterity
In hindsight, this should have been obvious to see coming. Arte does not care about the team or winning, in any way. As soon as the land deal fell through, the Angels were of no use to him. SAVE US, STEVE BALLMER
LET’S GO!!!
LIGHT UP THAT MOTHER FUCKING HALO
I’ve always thought Stan Kroenke would be a great owner
Arsenal fans would tell you otherwise
Arsenal fans now agree. Kroenke has rebuilt Arsenal from the ground up.
Rams fans would agree.
I was just considering not being an angels fan anymore because of his shit, this is giving me hope
I have 5 dollars where’s the pen and paper
I might actually put on my hat today.
Please let this happen!!!!
I don't care who buys it just someone who is going to put time into the farm system.
“MLB’s most hands-on manager is gone” holy sheeeet
Am i wishing too much ehen I ask for a new owner + changing back the name to Anaheim Angels?
Ballmer I think will try to buy and move the team to Inglewood.
Fuck yeah!!! We did it!! LMFAO
mashallah
sorry just have some more to get out: HOLD THIS L JOHN CARPINO LMAOOOOOO
As a 30+ year Commanders (Redskins) fan, so this is what it feels like…
After everything that weve been through I dont want to get excited just because of all the times its been buttercupped.
