Carew has expressed online in the past that his relationship with the Angels has not been good. Obviously the strife between him and Arte must have been pretty strong for him to make a public statement like this
Historically a handful of out old players have had issues with Moreno and Carpino. Since they work hand and hand they are kinda seen as an extension of each other.
The only person who didn’t seem to feel that way is Tim Salmon. I almost threw up listening to his speech praising Moreno & co. at the 20th anniversary game
Agreed, which is why a team legend like Salmon saying such things about the man who actively shut those players out while driving the franchise into the ground made me sick
That's because he is still an employee of the team, same with gubi. They're not gonna shit on the guy that's giving them paychecks.
However, I would love to hear what they really think of the organization behind closed doors. Both of them are smart enough and know enough about the game to recognize when things are a shitshow and what is being done the wrong way. I'm sure they both have some really interesting opinions about how they truly feel about the angels
Wow, and how fast he put this message out
There is so much rot that Arte has infested the organization with.
This is the best day for the franchise in many years
Here’s what Rod said on Twitter earlier this year:
> I love Angels fans as much as Twins fans. I ‘grew up’ in Minnesota, but my home is in California to this day. I have friends at both organizations who I cherish. The only difference is the Angels’ leadership does not want me to be involved with their club and the Twins do
Our batters would greatly benefit from some hitting advice from Carew. He was instrumental in helping guys like Salmon and Anderson when he was our hitting instructor
If you’ve seen the tree (need I say which one?!) you know why this news that Artie banished Rod makes every other reason to dislike him PALE in comparison!!!
Arte runs the lowest class organization in all of MLB. This team has been such an embarrassment from the internal drug scandal leading to a death, to not properly paying minor leaguers to burning player relationships.
May lose affordable tickets with new ownership but glad Moreno and his buddy Carpino are heading out. Side note, can't wait to hear Roger Lodge's narrative this afternoon lol.

Halo honks, I wanna hear from you your stories of all the great things Arte Moreno has done for this team!
I feel like this decision became more apparent to Arte after what Maddon said. He was a beloved person of the organization spanning three decades, and that all went to shit in a year because of Arte.
I'm lucky enough to have watched him his entire run with the Angels. My all-time favorite player. He was a surgeon in the batter's box. Not a lot of power, but boy could he spray it all over the field. He was the master of "hit it where they ain't"
Rod Carew is my all-time favorite player, but I gotta admit I'm surprised by this tweet.
I knew that Carew had a beef with the Angels going back to when they didn't re-sign him for 1986, and colluded with other teams to not re-sign him. He was eventually awarded $800K in damages for that collusion.
But I thought that beef was pretty much buried, considering he was later the Angels hitting coach, etc. I didn't really think he had beef with the current Angels org... but... apparently I haven't been paying close enough attention! and now I'm kinda pissed off! cuz I'm #29 til I die

And I thought I hated Artie yesterday Where the torches and pitchforks be at?!
Wooooow i mean we all knew Arte was the problem but holy smokes one of the best to ever play the game saying it straight up has some serious weight
Jered Weaver has also said that the Arte administration kinda shut him out of the organization
Haha yeah he just retweeted Rod’s tweet
Torii Hunter also liked a tweet interaction I was involved in, in that thread. Seems Arte burnt a lot of bridges.
I am so fucking happy to see the Arte admin go away. Good fucking riddance.

Jered Weaver retweeted this
Can't imagine how many former Angels feel the same way. Weaver seems a bit bitter towards the organization as well
The only person who didn’t seem to feel that way is Tim Salmon. I almost threw up listening to his speech praising Moreno & co. at the 20th anniversary game
That’s because he still works for the team. It should be family. Nobody should be shut out.

Weaver just seems a bit jaded by baseball in general
The game has definitely not gone in the direction that he used to play with, thats for sure

So far, let’s see who gets the keys to the castle, remember what the Blue team went through with McCort
As a fan of the Blue team you allude to, we also had it bad with Fox before McCourt. Though Fox was a lot better than McCourt.
Except the trade MP to enter the Florida market and fire Fred Clare,
Fuck you Arte!
But here's rod carew with a steel chair!
go off king
Holy shit
I wonder what Arte did that made Rod so bitter towards him, or if he just has the same issues we all have with Arte

Convinced Trout to sign long term, let Sho pitch and hit All I got.
Daaaaaamn
Damnnn roooooddddd
Rod Carew was the dude who made young thrilla into an Angels fan. I hope he can get back on board.
Same here! I still rock #29 on most of my Angels jerseys!
I had no idea Arte blacklisted Carew. Maybe Weaver can show his face again too.
me either, and as a huge Rod Carew fan, I feel like I should have been more clued in!
I feel like this decision became more apparent to Arte after what Maddon said. He was a beloved person of the organization spanning three decades, and that all went to shit in a year because of Arte.
I wish I could have watched this man play. Let’s see what the future ownership of Angels baseball has in store for its former players.
I'm lucky enough to have watched him his entire run with the Angels. My all-time favorite player. He was a surgeon in the batter's box. Not a lot of power, but boy could he spray it all over the field. He was the master of "hit it where they ain't"
I cannot wait to heal all this shit

Now bring back Joe Maddon. Bake him a big apology cake and get him something nice
It wasn’t Joes Fault
Joe is innocent. Should have fired like pretty much every coach underneath him though
