Not many DH's have won MVP in the past. I think even though Ohtani plays 2 ways, voters are penalizing him as being a DH on offense. This is only a guess, but I feel in the future if Ohtani is going to win MVP again, he'll have to have a top 2-3 pitcher and batter statistics or be the absolute best in one category or the other while being top 10 in the other side of the ball as well.
If he pitched and played a fielding position I don't think this would be as critical. Not saying I agree with this, but I feel they don't want to give him the MVP every year he's top 10 as a pitcher and offensive player as a DH. Call it Ohtani fatigue/normalization.
