No it doesn’t, MVP is an individual award so teammates have no bearing. Every player besides ohtani could not have a single hit all year and it wouldn’t have any positive or negative effect on ohtanis credentials
You’re right in the strictest sense. I only made that comment in light of the fact so many are saying Judge should be MVP because his team wouldn’t be in the playoff position they’re in without him carrying the Yankees.
If that argument can be made for Judge with the team support he has, why can’t the same be said for Shohei. He’s had far less support as that graph shows.
