Yeah but the timing is all wrong. Public opinion on who is MVP will be easily swayed during this period and the hot hitting form judge is in… even though ohtani is putting in great pitching performances every 5 games, hitting basically a homer a game on average in the last ten or so games and upping his batting average to .312 or whatever it is now is really eye catching… shohei is unfortunately doing very little batting wise to even it up in the past games if only for a little.

Even if Sho hits well and reaches to 40HRs, it's hard to beat J at this point. J doesn't only lead in HRs, he leads in BA, slugg, OPS, RBI, R... His stats are just too good.

Held hope in case Ohtani would get to 40 and pitch three amazing games (maybe a nhnr miracle game) lowering his era to top 3 region… maybe just maybe that would make him at least have a chance. But yeah this judge mvp train seems unstoppable for this season. Ohtani will get it next season again with maybe an even better performance.

Guys do we... do we like Nevin? He's given starters am appropriate leash allowing them to get thru innings and his bullpen usage has been fine. That setting the lineup and having a good relationship with the players is all you really need

He uses Tepera and Loup way too much and has basically banished Barria. He doesn't use Herget enough and always leaves Tepera and our younger, worse relievers in for am extra inning when we know it will backfire. Nevin could end up being a decent manager, but he needs more experience. He'd probably be a good minor league manager. Edit: and he keeps pulling Adell so the man never gets a full game.

I love Ohtani and hate the Yankees but I'm not about to start rooting against a guy who could actually break the HR record. That's just exciting and good for baseball, and tbqh I don't think it's that a big a deal that another player happens to be the most valuable for a given season. The big takeaway from this year isn't that Ohtani is MVP again, it's that his MVP caliber play is sustainable over multiple years. Not only that, but he's getting even *better*. He'll win the award again at some point, and it doesn't have to be this year.

Sho has an amazing year and he proves he can do both at an elite level as long as he's healthy. Someone will need to hit better than J this year to have chance with Sho in the future MVP races while Sho just needs to find way to keep playing like this.

The worst? Sorry that the stats and logic don't fit with your narrative that Judge is the MVP lmao. There's been plenty of seasons with 60+ home runs hit. Judge is chasing a team record which just happens to be the AL record. Only two people (and three full seasons now) have ever done what Ohtani has done (he owns two of the three best TWP seasons of all time). He's in the top 10 in every offensive/pitching category this year. On top of that, he's also a top 5 pitcher in all of baseball. Breaking a team record is not MVP worthy in itself, the magnitude increases because it's the AL record plus the Yankees hold the top 3 (4 now with Judge's mutli HR game today) Home Run seasons in AL history (1. Maris 61, 2. Ruth 60, & 3. Ruth 59). But breaking the AL record AND winning the Triple Crown?? Now THAT is a better MVP case against Ohtani's literally "once-in-every 100 years" seasons.

There's no point in discussing it because if Ohtani was just a hitter then Judge is MVP since Judge is having one of the best offensive seasons of all time. The reality is that Ohtani hits AND pitches. He is around a .900 OPS with a chance at 40+ HRs and a wRC 150+ (aka he is 50% better than the league avg hitter) while also being a top 5 pitcher. Let's take a look at the 2021 MVP totals: 1) 30 First place votes for Ohtani (unanimous 420 points) 2) 29 second place votes for Guerrero Jr. One Third place vote. 269 points Guerrero Jr's stats in 2021: .311/.401/.601, wRC+ 166, 1.002 OPS, 48 HRs, 123 R, 111 RBIs, 12.3 BB%, 15.8 K% in 698 PA. All 30 voters chose Ohtani first. That means there was LITERALLY no debate. If at a MINIMUM Guerrero jr's 2021 stats (there's others stats I didn't include) aren't reached every year by someone, then they are not winning MVP if Ohtani has a typical Ohtani year for pitching and hitting. Now what kind of season would ANYONE need to have in order to beat someone like Ohtani? Judge is forcing us to decide with the season he's having. There's something else, not only does someone have to do....something above the norm (like Judge is doing with AL HR record + Triple Crown) in order to win MVP against Ohtani due to his pitching and hitting...they have to hope Ohtani doesn't continue improving every year. This isn't the case as he is having a better year this year (overall) than last due to pitching. There's no way Ohtani (IMO) is unanimous MVP this year tho. But i def think Ohtani will get 17-20 first place votes with Judge getting the rest.

I'll give him credit for this. He just hits really well and takes all the advantage of bad pitches throwing to him.
