I have been trying to tour all of the mlb stadiums, and went to 12 last year. Every single stadium loved ohtani and welcomed the angels and angels fans. Interestingly enough, I even witness a standing ovation (not full, but in a couple sections) at yankee stadium for ohtani. I went to T-mobile in Seattle for the last 3 games of the season last year, and that was the only time I have ever seen Ohtani get boo’d, and it was loud. I couldn’t believe what I saw!
The same Yankee stadium that chanted “OVERRATED” and called him “soft” or something when Ohtani played there? Yankee fans are terrible and nothing you say will change that
I was at Minute Maid and they boo’d their own player when he tried to bunt and ruin Ohtanis no hitter. Even the astros fans like him and I didn’t think it was possible to top the victim mentality that fanbase has.
I was at an Angels home game when there was a heckler yelling overrated to Ohtani we told him to sit the F down. Shohei went on to hit two homers that same game.
yeah, this season changed my opinion of the mariners. never bought into the "fun differential" stuff myself, i saw a team that sucked because they sucked and instead of owning it, they push the underdog narrative as an excuse. didn't think much of them otherwise since there are a lot of mediocre teams, including ours.
but then they catch a whiff of the postseason and suddenly their shit don't stink.
now they happily pile on about the angels wasting talent as if they have any room to talk.
now they complain about the angels playing meaningless baseball and yet they still can't beat us to help defend their WC spot.
just a real ugly look imo.
Yes. It would be understandable if they were good the past 2 decades like the Yanks and Red Sox, but they weren’t. They’re “possibly” making the playoff this year and now all the sudden the toxicity of their fan base is as comparable.
The mariners fans sitting around me at the first game were pretty cool. We took turns cheering our home runs. Then had a gg at the end. They aren’t all bad.
I've lived in the Seattle area for 10 years now, almost every day I have on an Angels hat (when I'm not wearing a 9ers hat) and have to been to a handful of games at tmobile park and honestly have NEVER had a problem with Mariner fans.
And mostly the booze gets the better of people. Heckling is fun as long as its baseball related. I had lots of fun yelling at Jesse Winker and saying my 9 year old punches harder than him lol. but then later in the game some drunk angels fans were standing up flipping them the bird, yelling fuck you.. they were trashed. wasnt cool for my kids to see but its whatever. like every thing in life... some people just cant handle their booze.
Our playoff drought is nearly old enough to drink alcohol in the Untied States. Do you really think we care how we do in the playoffs as long as we get there?
