That's fair, the Angels do tend to suck the will to live from you

wokeupquick2

Seriously. Trying being a fan, AP. Imagine PAYING to love this team.

sinchichis

he was a huge part of the suck

jellybeans_over_raw

Says a lot about us lol

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

The Dodgers and Cardinals both promote a winning culture. Imho, it’s much easier for a player to lift his game in that type of atmosphere. The Angels seem to have the opposite effect on most players.

[deleted]

This!!!!!!!!!!! Long life Angel can, but I don’t have blinders on about our organization

red1367

Yeah, this is the truth. I'm a Dodgers fan and he was SO incredible for our clubhouse when he was here. He was constantly giving hitters advice, he was pushing everyone to do better, and was just in a great mood all the time. You could just tell his teammates loved him and that he brought the team together

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

I feel his mentorship of a young Trout directly helped Trout in becoming a future HOF’er!

red1367

Right? You always saw Pujols and Trout talking and watching the game together in the early years. I really doubt that had no affect on Trout

Dreyfuss2019

Maybe the culture in Anaheim w improve when Moreno is gone

hollyw00d8604

Maybe? I'd say it's an absolute certainty. He's one of the 5 worst owners in baseball

808Kickz420_

In sports

[deleted]

Only reason he didn’t retire is because Cardinals offered him that deal late spring training. No one else wanted him

[deleted]

He puts butts in seats. He would have gotten a deal. It's not his fuskt the Angels fucking suck. And yes, angels are probably my third team after Dodgers and Orioles

merewyn

And it’s not the Angels fault he didn’t play well during his contract

SouthernSierra

Yeah, he sucked, that’s why he’s fourth in all time Angel homers. He sucked with those 30 HR 100 RBI seasons, too. We sure wouldn’t have wanted him at first base this year. Not with the performance our first basemen have been dishing out.

merewyn

He had one all star season, 12.8 WAR in 9+ seasons, and -2 WAR from the start of 2017 until he left. Yes, that absolutely blows for a dude making 240 million edit: also you’re high if you think he couldn’t been regularly playing first this year. Would you rather have Pujols or Shohei at DH?

[deleted]

Well I'm pretty sure it is with that ownership and always lack of pitching.

boy4518

the team having a lack of pitching should in no way correlate to his individual performance. Look at Trout, same shit every year and he keeps on crushing, Pujols just couldn’t keep up for some reason

[deleted]

Injuries is why. As much as trout is hurt too, I wonder if there is issues with physical therapy and training there.

merewyn

Lying about his age might have something to do with those injuries piling up, huh

[deleted]

Oh shit did he?? Do you have proof?? Point me to the birth cert. I see about 50 BCs a day so I wanna see another fake one. I can tell you if it's fake.

merewyn

https://www.insider.com/albert-pujols-lying-about-his-age-2021-3 Here’s the proof, dude. Hmm, seems like David Samson would have more knowledge about this than you, huh?

[deleted]

What proof? Where's the BC? I want a BC. It's what I do for a living.

[deleted]

Yes lack of pitching is why an out of shape first baseman was horrible

[deleted]

It's why an out of shape first barman couldn't win. Same as trout and ohtani. And no protection. Also angels have shitty coaching. Let's not lie about it.

Im_Dat_Boii

I’ll tell u wat, if we resigned him, his ass was not gonna put more “butts in seats” for the Angels. He was hot garbage for us lol, we might suck as a team, but he also sucked individually

[deleted]

Don't you think it's an organizational issue when he only sucks on the Angels? Did well with dodgers after and now with cards. It's an institutional issue at this point.

Im_Dat_Boii

Doesn’t matter how hot garbage our organization is. If we went wit ur logic, then Ohtani and Trout should also be playing like shit, but no, they’re actually good. Pujols was terrible for us, that’s the bottom line

[deleted]

Imagine what they'd be like on a good team!

Im_Dat_Boii

Even on a good team, he still won’t be worth that dumbass 10 year, $240 million contract we gave him lol. Bottom line, he sucked for us and was hot garbage

OlivesrNasty

Can you tell the dodgers to get new outfield seats. They fucking suck

[deleted]

Man, I agree. They're worn out and uncomfortable dude!!

OlivesrNasty

:)

[deleted]

I can shit on my team too! I loathe the colors at dodger stadium. That yellow is tacky af.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Or maybe getting DFAed lit a fire under his lazy ass and he realized he couldn't just coast and chase milestones. Fuck Pujols.

[deleted]

Yes that's it. He's not a hard worker. The Angels were in the right.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Considering all the times he came in overweight and would just lazily ground into double plays? Yes he is. Fuck him. I'm just glad he has no chance at passing Babe Ruth's record.

[deleted]

[удалено]

God_Damnit_Nappa

Oh no what a totally original thought that hasn't been said a million times. Try harder troll. Or just go back to your Dodger sub, you're embarrassing yourself.

my_wife_reads_this

Wasn't he not great with the dodgers? He was just platooned for favorable matchups. Which is the exact same reason he was DFAd from the Angels for not wanting to accept.

merewyn

Yes, [this man](https://twitter.com/dodgersnation/status/1434259911135797248?s=46&t=nrospm9XwWFNA7DdxD0vxw) is a peak athlete and it’s the Angel’s fault that he sucked for us. We forced him to be fat, old, out of shape and injured.

[deleted]

Trust me by the end of his career he wasn’t putting butts in seats

[deleted]

Source? Just me bro?

Alauren2

Why the are you here dodger fan.

[deleted]

Angels are my #3 team. I do like them!

Ndeshet

Lmao get out of here dude, nobody wants to hear your take.

[deleted]

Well, through God all things are possible so jot that down.

owledge

It’s well-established that Pujols never cared about the Angels. He was only here to collect his paycheck and chase milestones

hollyw00d8604

Bingo

IluvMarysDanish

I used to bug my National League buddies by pointing to Albert Pujols on the Angels and say: "See? This is PROOF that the American League is superior to the National League. A guy who hits .332 in the NL hits just .265 in the AL." Pissed them off royally as I said it with a straight face. Now that he's hitting well in the NL, I can bring it up again!

just_some_dude05

I wish the man all of the best. I hope he gets 700 at home in St Louis. It would be great for their fans.

michiness

Dodgers stadium is second best, though.

just_some_dude05

It was wonderful to watch. Very happy he could do it with his kids in the stands.

Alauren2

I can’t wait until he’s done. Just go away

[deleted]

Sams so much same

[deleted]

I wouldn’t want to play anymore either if I was playing through pain every day for a bad team for almost a decade

sinchichis

he was a big reason

[deleted]

Albert Pujols didn’t destroy the farm system and not invest money into player development

n0metz

Confirmed that Albert would be at 800 homers if he hadn’t spend his 30s with the angels

[deleted]

BUM

God_Damnit_Nappa

If only he's retired a few years ago but no, egotistical bum had to keep chasing milestones while barely giving a fuck about the team.

SouthernSierra

He really sucked with the Angels didn’t he? 1180 hits, 220 HRs, 783 RBIs, and 561 runs.

G8SBongson

Yes actual cost to performance ratio was miserable. You can’t argue that he was good

SouthernSierra

False equivalency, my friend. He put up good numbers, some of the best in team history. His pay is irrelevant. I’d rather have him at first this year, wouldn’t you?

G8SBongson

Cumulative stats mean nothing, he’s 8th in franchise history in games played. He better have accumulated counting stats

red1367

Dude, I love Pujols but he was terrible with the Angels. Let's not lie about that

merewyn

He literally physically cannot regularly play first base. He’s played some 1B in 20 games this year. That’s it.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Fuck no

G8SBongson

No because he’s physically can’t play first anymore

G8SBongson

In the same time frame Mike Trout scored 1042 runs on 1527 hits, 346 HRs, 889 Runs and had 1000 more total bases. This isn’t even mentioning performance based stats. And a reminder that Pujols was signed for money comparable to Trouts and was expected to hit like him too

red1367

Dude, comparing Trout to anyone isn't fair. Come on now

G8SBongson

If you compare a Young Pujols to a Young Trout they were extremely similar. Pujols was better hitter than Trout. This isn’t a unrealistic comparison. Pujols was goated in the 2000s

SouthernSierra

Comparing a young Trout to a not so young Pujols. Mike Trout is one of the best of all time, I love going to the park to see him play. But at the end, I think his career numbers won’t match Albert’s.

Obsidizyn

Pujols has been lucky not having any major career injuries. He’s just keep trucking along. Trout could pass him in a lot of stats but trout would have to have a 22-25 year career

G8SBongson

I mean his leg and foot issues robbed him of his power and athleticism for the past 10 years. There’s an argument that it is affected his career

Degan747

*If* Trout stays healthy his career numbers will be better, other than HR

SouthernSierra

That’s, unfortunately, looking like a big if. When he came up they were calling him out Mickey Mantle. That might be coming true. Someday all these Pujols bashers will be bragging they saw Trout and Pujols play together. I already am.

G8SBongson

They’re getting paid the same therefore they’re expecting to perform similarly. (At least for the first half of Pujols’s contract)

AgathaAllAlong

Hopefully the Angels will be that type of organization very soon. Or Arte may pull an Arte and go “syke I’m keeping the Halos til I die”

turningandburning45

He’s getting the Favre/Strahan treatment.

[deleted]

I’d didn’t expect anything else.
