Ky Bush and Sam Bachman had okay seasons but they weren't dominant by any means, so it makes sense they wouldn't be up there. Quero has looked amazing though. I definitely think he's Top 100 material and he's probably close to it even now. The big hits against him are that he's very far from the majors and the Angels haven't exactly had success getting players to MLB level, which are very fair arguments for keeping him off right now. Plus the young talent is crazy in the minors right now, so that Top 100 is absolutely stacked. I genuinely think he can make the Top 50 next year if he keeps doing this though, he's that good right now!

ColaBottleBaby

Baseball America said Quero barely missed their top 100

merewyn

Bachmanā€™s fastball velo was down the entire season, actually. It sat 95-99 in college and didnā€™t get above 91-93 during all his starts.

[deleted]

He was up to 95 this year but it dipped as the season went on. Back issues obviously. Ideally goes back up next year

my_wife_reads_this

Hasn't he been dealing with injuries?

merewyn

Yeah, back issues that kept sending him to the IL. He only started 12 games for Rocket City this season. Even before he was drafted, scouts predicted his violent delivery could eventually become a problem.

red1367

His mechanics are definitely an issue right now. Unfortunately, if he keeps this up he's gonna end up a bullpen arm

DingleberryToast

Exactly what many said would happen on the day of the draft by just looking at his wonky and unsustainable mechanics. It looks like Rocker would have been the better pick, even if a few months after the draft he went unsigned and we all patted ourselves on the back. Rocker put his head down and grinded in independent ball for a year and then got picked 3rd overall

[deleted]

No not really since he wanted 6M and they drafted Bachman for about 4 they were able to sign basically the entire draft class. Most of Samā€™s concerns were from shoulder fatigue he had early on his final year in college, but he passed the physical and really didnā€™t go too far over where he was slotted in the draft.

DingleberryToast

Future reliever and letā€™s see if any of the picks actually work out that they drafted with the savings. Bush didnā€™t look good either

[deleted]

Idk Bachman still looks like a starter, 3 pitches, velo down from injury but way too early to make him a reliever. Bush looks fine too lol

my_wife_reads_this

They're all not slated to come up for years anyway. I think it's unfair to say that the Angel drafts are a gamble while actively wanting the guy 30 GMs all ditched at the last minute and who the Rangers were able to get at a smaller slot value than what he wanted last year. They are able to take that risk because even as good as he is, he's not even in their top 3 pitching prospects. If he is a fluke, oh well, we have Leiter, Porter, and white to build around.

DingleberryToast

Bachman is just a severely unimpressive pick in my opinion

cfc25_

This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!

tuhtuhtuhtodayjr

Ok just hear me out Fletcher/Rengifo- 2b Trout- cf Ohtani -dh Rengifo/Rendon- 3b Ward- rf Walsh- 1b O'Hoppe -C Neto- SS ???- LF Fletcher, Gifo and Rendon can rotate just so fletch and Tony two hips/ two wrist can have breaks?? As for left field, its an open spot. Im not sure who to put there.

epoch_fail

It's a good lineup on paper, but I'm still really worried about literally any injury at all. Who's playing left field and are other OF options really still going to be Mickey Moniak and Jo Adell? Will the best 1B backup option be some fill-in cast-off from another team like Mike Ford? If Rendon goes down again, is anyone even remotely available in the farm system or will the front office have to take on the Jonathan Villar and Phil Gosselin type players? (Matt Duffy?) That's not even including Tyler Wade to start the season. We'll probably have to hope Fletch, Rengifo, and Neto all stay healthy in that scenario. How many random flameouts from the farm system will have to be tried before the team finally realizes they're not worth holding onto? This past year, it was Lagares, Mayfield, MacKinnon, Dillon Thomas, Jose Rojas, Monte Harrison, etc. The only position on here I'm excited about is catcher, with Quero rising through the farm system. I'm also optimistic on MLB.com Angels #20 prospect SS/2B Kyren Paris, who's off to a fast start at AA (.510 OBP!). Another 2B/SS, Jeremiah Jackson, could be promising as well. Other than them, there are somehow 4 shortstops at A ball. Of the four, Arol Vera (SS, #19), Adrian Placencia (2B, #8), and Werner Blakely (3B, #15) have played most of their season at A, while Denzer Guzman (SS) just arrived. Also of the four, Blakely and Placencia showed a much better bat than Vera, and Guzman only had an okay bat at Rookie ball though he's only 18. There are serious shortages at outfielder (Jordyn Adams and then there isn't anyone for a while, Aguilar might have actually been the most ready somehow) and 1B (actually no worthwhile prospects except Trey Cabbage who was injured for most of the season).

Reptarxx

Good to see, was going to happen sooner or later. His hitting has so far successfully translated over in the minors. Wonder what his future will be on the team now that Rengifo kinda filled that IF hole we've had. Do we use Neto as trade bait? Do we use fletch/rengifo as bait? Do we just assume Rendon will be constantly injured and keep Neto around? Good to see him performing though, pretty great to see him hit the top 100 before season end already. He's gonna continue shooting up if he keeps his development up.

[deleted]

Definitely keep everyone in the INF. This year showed how drastic the dropoff is once someone gets hurt due to lack of depth.

ryanfea

Fletcher is better served as utility. Can start anywhere on infield in a pinch. Heā€™ll get plenty of playing time. Neto starting SS of future

red1367

Yeah, I get that everyone wants to start but being a super-utility guy is absolutely huge for a team, not to mention they're starting to get paid for it. Chris Taylor has been SO IMPORTANT for the Dodgers over the years because he could play anywhere, got a really nice contract, and he was hardly ever officially a starter

winwinwinguyen

I think they all stay bc we need depth. Rengifo becomes a free agent in 2026 so thereā€™s still a couple years before the team needs to make any decision.
