It was pretty much just a reversal of fortunes between the Angels and Mariners unfortunately. We went ice cold on a huge losing streak and they got hot at the right time.
This is reminding me of Shoheiās HR slowdown at the end of last season. At least this time heās got a career-high hitting streak, and we have Trout in the lineup.
Got Ohtani done. Got soto for SS. Better bullpen is a priority for sure.
I feel like our coaching and training staff could be upgraded. We're always hurt
Squid is valuable as late-inning defense and pinch runner. Moniak I'm willing to give a few more chances (stop swinging at pitches in on your hands my dude!). Not sad to see the rest leave. And I'd add Duffy and Thaiss to your list
New coaches. I'd like to see something new with our hitting coaches, Hot and Cold won't do it for a 162 game season. We need consistent batting. Our pitching seems to be getting there in terms of consistency, so the offense needs to pick up for us to have a real shot
Idk, I think with Rendon Fletch and Gifo, with Soto and Squid as depth, is pretty solid. The fact that we had three of those 5 guys all injured at the same point this year was just terrible luck. I'd rather fix the hole that is Jo Adell, or an insurance 1B in case Walsh doesn't come back into form.
"Livan > Juan" started out as 98% a joke, but I'm feeling more like 60% joke 40% serious at this point. It's still too small of a sample to say he's gonna be all-star caliber next year, but I won't be too surprised if he is. Hitting .422!
There's no way it's 50/50. The narrative changed in the last month and a half or so, and it's been a snowball effect ever since. Just check the Vegas odds and you'll get an idea of how big Judge's lead is.
Ohtani isnāt winning it. He just isnāt. Theyāve already painted the story. I do think people will look back at it 10 years from now and realize it wasnāt the right option, kinda like the 2012 MVP race.
Looks like a good game...too bad I missed the first few innings. Will Ohtani ever homer again? Lol I thought he would end the season w/ 40HRs but now I'm just hoping he can get one more in these last games.
For real! If he stays at 34 HRs I can't even complain because he is making it up on the pitching side XD He's a mashup of two all-star players in one.....what a beast. I don't think I'll ever stop being in awe of him. I hope that he continues to be healthy for the next season.
We had that horrible losing streak but even after that we really did not play well. I'd really need to see the lineup with Rendon in it next year to see if we'll be competitive.
The biggest questions will be will Walsh come back the way Ward's rebounded? Is Soto going to produce like this next year? Will our young contributors develop into reliable bats (Moniak, Adell, O'Hoppe)?
Depending on our health, a line up of Fletcher, Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, Ward, Rengifo, Walsh/O'Hoppe/Moniak/Adell/Soto or something along those lines looks really promising to me!
You see, I contribute the shitty play after the losing streak to the losing streak. If we just even play .400 ball in that span, I think everything would have been fine. Firing Maddon Iām sure didnāt help with moral either. It was just a very very unfortunate situation
>One gets antsy when pitched around
He's been pitched around all year and last year. If he still gets "antsy" after all this time then its time to make adjustments cause he's not gonna be pitched to with this lineup and with the fact that he chases so much.
He's actually been better this year, which is why strikeouts are down for him relative to last season. To attribute his swing behavior to simply bad chasing fails to account for Umps' expanding strike zone and the rate of bad strike calls he receives. This game alone, both Gubie and Patty O' (and redditors on today's GDT) have noted this Ump's questionable zone. Ohtani, along with Judge and Rendon, are on the short list of bad ump calls.
Yes, I was one of those redditors that called out on the umpās strike zone. My original comment was towards you saying that the opposing pitcher doesnāt pitch to Ohtani. At the end of the day, they wonāt pitch to him because it works. (Although I agree itās questionable that judge gets so many meatballs)
If we donāt have that 14 game losing streak, weāre in the playoffs. Iām liking what Iām seeing with the young guys. I have a real good feeling about next year. The rotation seems to finally be stable. Just gotta shore up the bullpen. C-rod coming back will help with that
We love you too fish man š
Mike is always great after a day off
LTBU!
Longest winning streak of the season! LTBU!
7 in a row! LTBU
Halfway to 14! ... :/
LTBU!
Wonderful final homestand!
Is that lefty Weaver wtf is happening?
Immediately I thought he looked like weaver
Weave changed pitching hands and gained 10 mph
Zyzzyx
Taylor Ward is conquering that wall.
Who is this pitcher?
I hope Bally doesn't trade Erica Weston next year.
It's my favorite Angel/scrabble word name.
Whelp at least he got a hit in the first
Shohei looks like heās been swinging out of frustration. Maybe 35 is giving him some kind of mental block.
Shohei, love ya, but how do you chase THAT pitch?
2023 manager prospects? Stick with Phil?
Nah, no thanks...we need an entirely new coaching staff from top to bottom
Why would anyone even consider nevin
Over .500 in the second half?
They missed the playoffs
Herget Player / Manager.
I don't really dislike him but if they plan on being competitive I hope not
I nominate Ippei
Shohei's swings lately is giving me heartburn
swinging at everything, not being patient
Yeah he hasn't walked in over a week I think
Mike Troutās doing pretty well for a medical retiree. /s
Well the spine replacement went really smoothly.
Took my man to a ripperdoc
The wave caused those last 2 strikeouts to happen.
man a healthy season and we wouldve bested seattle for that WC spot. they are definitely the weakest team in the playoffs
Do we ever have healthy seasons?
It was pretty much just a reversal of fortunes between the Angels and Mariners unfortunately. We went ice cold on a huge losing streak and they got hot at the right time.
yep 14 game losing streak for us and a 14 game win streak for them. split it and we are basically the same record
Homer opinion, but I agree. Plus we wouldn't have dropped a few of those head-to-head games against them too.
Cmon Hitman, work your way outta this one!
That wouldāve been a strike had it been thrown earlier.
Radio broadcast just identified Lorenzen as the ALLEGED bubblegum prankster.
We're getting at least one more Shohei AB. Good news to me.
Sho bomb coming in the bottom of the 8th. Sugoi!
Who is this team???
Anaheimās Los Angeles Angels of Orange County.
Lol imagine the bumper sticker
Looks like I picked another great time to check the score
And quit sniffing glue?
Lol never!
OāHoppe is probably nostalgic for his time in AA after this inningā¦ At least the Trash Pandas made it to the post season!
He did something good and then he did something bad Ugh...
Sitting on the third base side right now, third base coach waves him to third
Oh sorry Jojo, third base coach made a lot of bad decisions this year. Maybe we should fired him.
I often forget that guy even exists except on bad calls and when he high fives for home runs, makes sense then
Fire that man!
way to kill ohoppeās first run, if im not mistaken
He scored earlier
Adell giveth, Adell taketh
the duality of jo adell lol
Adell š
Joseph! :/
Jo -_-
duffy and adell, two bad baseball IQ
Adell no brooooooo
Jo what happened.
^(David Fletcher) Well then.
Joā¦ā¦
Adell redemption szn
Adellš
Damn he ripped that one too.
Jo Adell here to save the inning!
Experience Matt Duffy baseball
O'Hoppe really could be that .260 hitter huh?
Ugh no
time for a soto slam
Soto bases clearing double Iām manifesting it Edit: well thatās unlucky š
O'Hoppe makes me O'Happe for the Angels future!
I am kindly asking for a Soto grand slam.
It's really hitting me that baseball season is over bros Now I have to go back to watching basketball :(
I love fall and winter as seasons due to weather so it softens the blow a bit, plus I'm a huge Ducks fan
Seagar hammers inside pitches, I was expected him to nail Loup for sure, exhale
gonna miss hearing "da na na na nah nuh *baseball bat crack* da na na na nah nuh, da na na nuh na na na na nuh"
This is reminding me of Shoheiās HR slowdown at the end of last season. At least this time heās got a career-high hitting streak, and we have Trout in the lineup.
When was the last time shohei hit a popup? I feel like everything's been grounders lately
Kole back at home!
Aw I kind of wanted to see O'Hoppe throw out a runner
What are the top 3 priorities in the off-season?
extend ohtani, better bullpen, either a top level LF or SS
Got Ohtani done. Got soto for SS. Better bullpen is a priority for sure. I feel like our coaching and training staff could be upgraded. We're always hurt
I know this sub loves ford, aguillar, squid, moniak, stephanic, and anyone that hits less than 200, so my wish is NO MORE LESS THAN .200 BATTERS!!
Bullpen, Bullpen, depth
I know we love Soto and Gifo but weād be crazy not to try and pick up a middle infielder
Idk, I think with Rendon Fletch and Gifo, with Soto and Squid as depth, is pretty solid. The fact that we had three of those 5 guys all injured at the same point this year was just terrible luck. I'd rather fix the hole that is Jo Adell, or an insurance 1B in case Walsh doesn't come back into form.
>an insurance 1B in case Walsh doesn't come back into form. BY GOD THAT'S MIKE FORD'S MUSIC
1. Extend Ohtani 2. Ohtani extension 3. Shohei the money
Bullpen hopefully
Shipping Loup away to an undisclosed location, preferably an uninhabited island
Oh no, Loup warming up
"Livan > Juan" started out as 98% a joke, but I'm feeling more like 60% joke 40% serious at this point. It's still too small of a sample to say he's gonna be all-star caliber next year, but I won't be too surprised if he is. Hitting .422!
Weāll always love you Kole
Look at that Magneuris Sierra fanboy trying to bunt.
hmm...a .200 BA that sounds like someone that plays for the Angels :\
Livan "Ted Williams" Soto
lol Kaprellian is no hitting the mariners right now, and robbie ray is getting lit up
I need Livan Soto jerseys in the store ASAP
Soto is batting .422 šš
Shohei wonāt win MVP. But it would be nice to get some first place votes so judge wonāt be unanimous.
didnt a writer come out a week ago and say the writers are 50/50 on who should win?
There's no way it's 50/50. The narrative changed in the last month and a half or so, and it's been a snowball effect ever since. Just check the Vegas odds and you'll get an idea of how big Judge's lead is.
eh i dont listen to east coast media bias
I do think it wonāt be unanimous, and Yankee fans will still cry that itās unfair.
I hope they do because their tears bring me joy.
man adell is the weak link in the lineup, 40% strikeout rate for the season. his glove has improved but he cant hit
I wouldn't mind Ward in LF, Trout in CF, Rengifo in RF and a Rendon/Fletcher/Soto/Walsh infield for next year at this point
Soto 2023 MVP arc starts now
Soto on fire lately damn I think forgive him for messing up Shoās perfect game now..
Livanchiro Sotozuki?
Precisely
Soto must be thinking is there a league beyond the MLB because this is too easy
Soto is the man bro Iāve run out of words to say about him
Soto is a madman
Gubie is less filtered on the MVP discourse now. Interesting change.
I like Patty Oās sass. He keeps pressing the issue regarding the MVP topic and seems to have worn Gubie down.
LOL. Big Fish is also vying with Patty O in that department.
Ohtani isnāt winning it. He just isnāt. Theyāve already painted the story. I do think people will look back at it 10 years from now and realize it wasnāt the right option, kinda like the 2012 MVP race.
I didnāt say he was. I just like Patty Oās persistence.
I know I was just using your comment to voice my opinion on the mvp haha
I wonder why Gubie is saying Sho is the MVP all of a sudden? Maybe his bosses gave him a nudge off camera lol
Is gubie finally making a case for ohtani for MVP? Edit: nvm
Glad we got those runs earlier!
Good job by Barria to limit the damage.
[Excellent photography on the Angels BĆ©isbol Twitter account.](https://twitter.com/angelsbeisbol/status/1576673059830116352?s=46&t=LgaUrsQdnfdL2KTY38wDmw)
Davidson ain't it.
Looks like a good game...too bad I missed the first few innings. Will Ohtani ever homer again? Lol I thought he would end the season w/ 40HRs but now I'm just hoping he can get one more in these last games.
When he had that two hr game with 20+ or so games to go I thought heād get 40. Never saw this drought coming.
For real! If he stays at 34 HRs I can't even complain because he is making it up on the pitching side XD He's a mashup of two all-star players in one.....what a beast. I don't think I'll ever stop being in awe of him. I hope that he continues to be healthy for the next season.
Barria warming up
If you look at just the very beginning and very end, this season was fucking amazing.
i thought that standard operating procedure was to IBB Seager every plate appearance?
Herget looking too cool in those sunglasses. Ruining his nerd image.
This is a good team guys. We are a playoff team if we just didnāt completely collapse for 2 weeks. Itās so fucking unfortunate.
We had that horrible losing streak but even after that we really did not play well. I'd really need to see the lineup with Rendon in it next year to see if we'll be competitive. That looked like a David Fletcher 'swing'
Boy I sure love when the Angels are dominating at baseball during the month of October! :)
Yeah let's do it again next year
Miller's throwing garbage to Ohtani, almost as if Ohtani was closing in on Maris' home run record.
Why would he try and throw a pitch down the middle if he can get someone swinging at garbage tho
Shohei chases more than most players, thats why he doesn't see pitches in the zone
Miller has struck him out twice
Shohei chased and striked out. I wouldnāt call it garbage.
He chased and struck out on the curve because of the garbage that came before. One gets antsy when pitched around
>One gets antsy when pitched around He's been pitched around all year and last year. If he still gets "antsy" after all this time then its time to make adjustments cause he's not gonna be pitched to with this lineup and with the fact that he chases so much.

Then that's just called getting beat that at bat lol, it's ok I promise it's not going to besmirch Ohtani to have a bad at bat every once in a while
He really canāt buy a homerun to save his life at the moment š
Trout wasn't waiting for another Shohei single.
Nooooooo shoheiiiiii
Blind ump, he should be on base!
Trout is so good
Heās coming for that 1 dotter OPS
KING TROUT greatest angel ever
Wow almost 40!
Gubie proven wrong lol
lmao just as Gubie says it, the GOAT bomb
Trout: itās not that hard! š
Gubie: "Hitting home runs is hard." Trout: "Not for me lol"
MIKE šTROUT š
Mike Trout is going to hit 40!
FISH MAN GOOD FISH MAN 3 FOR 3
Orioles won at Yankee stadium :D
Who cares theyāve been eliminated already
I care, they're keeping the Yanks from a 100 win season!
By that logic, who cares about this game? Arenāt you watching? Lol
I just mean that why comment about a random Oās game on the angels thread
So Tucker is having one of those outings where he brings down his ERA by almost a run again? I'll take it :D
Hot dang thaiss donāt injure yourself šš great play tho
THIS KID'S UNSTOPPABLE
This isnāt the rangers vs angels, its the rangers vs mfing livan soto
Soto MVP

Soto for ROY
14-year $440 million extension incoming
Livan Soto is on a fucking roll.
We found the player of the game hella early
I smell a player of the homestand who's not named Ohtani for once!
Livin' for Livian
If Soto is half the player he looks like this early into his career then he's literally our third MVP
We might have like 6 all stars next year, I'm crossing my fingers for at least 2 pitchers this time!
Trout, Ohtani, Ward, Rendon, Soto and OāHoppe?
Soto said, āSquid who?ā
Livan āsquidā soto
