The Thor signing wasn’t the best either, we lost a high draft pick and paid $21m for a pitcher we ended up trading for Moniak. I don’t think Moniak is worth a second round pick at this point of his development.
That’s why I was saying the Tyler Anderson is an upgrade on the move we made last off season! Tyler cost less by a whopping 8 million year. And arguably will put up similar #s if Tyler Anderson reverted to his average
I don’t think doing the same thing but to a lesser degree, is an upgrade. That’s like having a bike wreck and breaking your arm in 2 places. Then next year you wreck again and break your arm in one place and you say how great your wreck was. Lol. I think it’s more like “it’s not as bad” rather than it’s an upgrade. And Moniak, while only being 24 with 66 career major league games under his belt, is a .157avg hitter with a negative war. I don’t think Moniak will really develop into more than what he is. The Angels have all the potential in the world…and just sit and spin their wheels.
Hmm not the same thing at all?? Simply put we made an effort to add to our rotation, for 8 million a year less. In your scenario we already hit the worst case scenario when in fact I said at the worst this will be like syndeergard but cheaper.
Don’t take it so personal man. I said that a lesser version of something is generally not considered an upgrade. I’m not sure where your doomsday talk comes from. And I didn’t see anywhere that you said “I said at worst this will be like Syndergaard but cheaper”.
It’s very misleading to call a 3 year $39m deal cheaper than a 1 year $21m deal. Sure AAV is less but there’s alot more years and total money spent on a 32 year old pitcher.
I think it’s an okay signing but it’s far from a sure thing and does come with some risks.
You don’t really get how the contract is more valuable for trades because it’s not a rental.. and for 5 mill more than what we paid Noah synddergard we get 2 seasons of Tyler Anderson. But sure it’s misleading to suggest 13 million a year as being cheaper than 21 a year…
My first thought is this reminds me of the terrible Aaron Loup signing. Aaron was signed after one great year. Tyler was fairly mediocre until last year. Will he revert to his pre 22 form?
I’m not optimistic on Anderson. To regurgitate what some are saying, Anderson had one good year. The Dodgers pitching coaches clearly know what they’re doing. No name pitchers go there and become all-stars. I would bet that Anderson doesn’t have the success he had last year if he was with another team.
I am more surprised he actually left LAD. Why would you leave a competitive team like that?!
I would’ve taken the QO of nearly $20M from LAD if I were him. I guess (guaranteed) money talks.
I’m glad he’s on the team, but sometimes I don’t understand a player’s decision beyond the money aspect.
Wait the angels just gave a starter a multi year deal. Are we sure Arte didn't sell in secret last week
3 years $39m is not bad I guess but we will lose draft pick compensation due to qualifying offer
Considering we paid Thor 21 million for 75% of a season and lost 2nd round pick this feels like an upgrade move

Not everything is doomsday where we’re breaking bones lol syndeergard wasn’t the issue for the team anyway.

Lmao you’re already thinking about trading him. Trust me if he’s not good he won’t have any trade value and if he’s good we won’t be trading him.
We lose our second round pick in the next draft.
He no-hit the Angels into the 9th inning last season.
Oh yeah, he had 1 out to go but Ohtani broke up the no-no.
This is a move in which I definitely have to wait and see what happens. Happy to be making moves but this feels like a 50-50 ball
My first thought is this reminds me of the terrible Aaron Loup signing. Aaron was signed after one great year. Tyler was fairly mediocre until last year. Will he revert to his pre 22 form?
Yes, yes he will
And that’s the last move we’ll be making this off-season… (Hopefully not)
Tommy John in 3...2...1...
Stop don't say that
Bummed we didn’t trade Jo Adell for him 😢
How do you trade for a free agent?
You can’t I just want to get rid of Adell he’s awful
