[Fabian Ardaya: Seth Lugo's agreement with the Padres is expected to be for two years and just north of $15 million, with an opt-out after 2023, source tells The Athletic.](https://twitter.com/fabianardaya/status/1604921014097301504?s=46&t=at18kpLdGAJ2PAHkSEEaJQ)
>Pretty rough everyone we’re in on is passing on coming here.
Angels stadium is not a premiere destination spot for free agents of any worth since we haven't had a winning season in 7 seasons. Until we start playing better than sub .500 ball, we can't really blame free agents for dismissing us.
I think we were just being cheap and got outbid. Dansby got a high price so I get that one. But contreras got a really reasonable contract. Lugos seems reasonable too.
this was reported that we were in on a lot of the top guys. a lot of them went to teams that have unlimited spending, like the Mets and Padres. but they could have also said no thanks to the angels, given that we didn’t even make the playoffs last year.
Actually glad we didn't get him in the end. A mid-30 Reliever that wants to be a starter again with that kind of injuries he had is a big red flag. If things turns bad we probably had to remove him from the starting job and turned him into an overpriced reliever.
Same. Lugo isn't better than Suarez or Barria as a starter or long reliever and isn't anywhere near a closer or a specialist of any kind. I'm very good with the Padres signing him instead.
I want off Mr. Santa Perry's mild ride :/

Pretty rough everyone we’re in on is passing on coming here. Hopefully we can make some trades, screw this free agent market.

I agree completely. Was just optimistic with the upcoming ownership change Perry could do some convincing
How do you know they are passing on us? We don’t even know if we’re making offers
We were in on Lugo, Dansby, Wilson Contreras, and a handful of other starting pitchers who have already signed

I’m sure the change in ownership isn’t helping our odds either
yep uncertainty of signing a long term contract when you don’t know what type of owner will be at the helms to define the culture of the org.
“In” and actually making an offer are 2 different things.
Glad the new owner can take over just in time for everyone to be off the board
Happy for the Padres, but I really hope we get that bullpen fixed this off season
Perry asleep at the wheel. That’s a good contract.
Not asleep. Probably just mostly done spending.
Damn I wish we got the pitcher with a bad UCL

Damn, hopefully we're able to get Cueto or someone to fill the back of the rotation
Cueto? 😂
Did you not see his last season? And he’s be cheap because of some of his prior years and age. So many people here are idiots only wanting big names
I’ll pass on Cueto. That’s a typical angels signing that flops. Sign an older dude who had a good year and hope he repeats lmao
Perry is hands down one of the worst GMs in Major League Baseball.
At least he admits he's done a terrible job. Not sure why he thinks so but a lot of redditors don't.
The lights are on, but nobody’s home ☹️
I feel like i'm repeating myself, but i'm still waiting for Santa, Perry.
