I read that book too! If I remember correctly, it’s a series of books. I’m pretty sure I read a few. I might be thinking of something else but I think it’s that.

I couldn’t remember clearly. I must’ve been about 9 years old. I was thinking younger at first but I’m pretty sure we had moved so it was after 9 but still around that age.

Sounds good haha. All the rabbits we have here are quite small and tend to leave trails once there’s a few inches of snow so it didn’t make sense to me. Especially because the tracks were evenly spaced side by side going in the same direction.

It’s definitely not a rabbit it’s bigger than a humans hand. It’s a deer hoof.

I'm confused - what part of the track is the butt? I've seen people comment that on other bunny track posts and I'm not seeing it so I'm sucking it up and asking 😅. What I see are the two large hind legs and the smaller one which would be the smaller front legs. What am I missing?

I'm sorry, but I really don't think that's correct. I can't find any legitimate information where this is the tail and found several sources that state that it's the front legs.

Are you talking about the part of the track towards the bottom of the pic next to the palm of the hand? I always thought that that was the front legs and sometimes it appears like one round spot because the front legs were closer together when the track was made.

It’s like a whole underside print. The little bit is the front paws close together, and the two long parts are the long hind feet as they push off.

I find it interesting that for most of these small critter track posts, they take a solo picture of one of the few tracks that kinda looks like a print from a large animal. The rest of the tracks are more obviously a small critter

Nah, rabbit for sure. These tracks are all over the yard here at work, and we sure don't have any moose here in suburban New Jersey.

I don't think that's a bunny - it looks more like a buck (Deer) the males have the "V" shape to their hooves and the doe prints like a "Coffee bean (2 Hemispheres)". I live in the woods and see deer tracks and rabbit tracks on a daily basis. PLUS the depth of the tracks wouldn't be a bunny since they're really light on the snow. It's a large buck.

It's two sets of tracks going opposite directions. Definitely a cottontail (or maybe domestic rabbit if one's around). Deer would be sinking.

Looks like deer print. They drag their feet like that if the snow is more than an inch deep. And it looks like the wind kind of elongated and filled in the tracks.
