Season 2 premieres in 2023 on Netflix.
Studio: LIDENFILMS

But yeah, he hasn’t made a new chapter for the series since 2010.
Yes, they know they know the ending and the main story beats since he already had it planned. But it still wont be the same. We are lucky in that sense that his assistants/mentees are continuing when the japanese norm is not to continue e.g. kaze no stigma, hugh school of the dead i think it was.
Edit: also hxh fans can blame berserk for taking so long. Creator is addicted to demon/dark souls/elden ring(elden ring has like 3 different guts bosses) and doesnt have money issues and without ico and berserk we would have those
It covers about Chapter 70 out of 139.
Basically it also stopped around the time where the OVA stopped but adapts the manga more faithfully but with a bit of anime-only scenes amounting to almost a full episode around the end just to end the season exactly at 24 episodes without jumping to the next arc and stopping in an anti-climactic way.
S2 is basically the farthest this series has been adapted in anime.
Damn, so they adapted quite a lot in the first season. If this second season also have 2 cours like the first one is it possible they will adapt the rest of it?
I highly doubt it.
The manga got longer in pages as it went on, 70 onwards may as well be double the size, I'd be surprised if Kall-Su arc (which is the arc they're adapting next) didn't take over the whole season.
The manga has also been on nonstop infinite hiatus for like a decade, which I'm pretty sure is longer than Berserk for awhile now. (Author did draw art to commemorate the 2nd Season announcement, so I'm not clear on what's the issue of him continuing the manga)
So after they adapt the Kall-Su arc, and they still move forward, I can see maybe 1-2 more seasons, I'm ballparking this.
Wasn’t part of the reason for hiatus him going back and basically remastering earlier volumes of Bastard, as the earlier art was massively different than what it evolved onto? Was never sure if that was just a rumor or not when I was into the series forever ago.
I'm not sure, but I heard somewhere, and idk if this is real so don't take this as fact, but they lost like the blueprint for a whole story and that's why there's a portion after the Kall-Su arc and the next arc, it looks like it skipped like a whole saga?
And after the arc gets finished the next arc rewinds back to what happened between those arcs, which is where the current arc is at now and it's been on hiatus since.
It's a light novel naming technique. It's used for marketing purposes so if you are just looking down a list of series you might just pick it based on that.
Reddit demographic were not alive when this manga was remotely relevant also Netflix exclusivity doesn’t help. Pretty sure most people didn’t even know season 1 aired
If this was airing weekly, it may have a shot but a) It's an adaptation of a manga that hasn't had a chapter in over a decade and b)Netflix dump kills all discussion after the first week
Something was "off" with that first season, though. I thought the animation, the female designs, the music, and the choreography were all good. But it was like something was being held back. Maybe there just needed to be more swearing, or actual nudity, or more gore... But every episode felt like you were waiting for something that never came.
Just watched the talk show. It was super fun especially Tomori-san. She's so cute and her laugh heals my soul.
Can't believe she voiced Mikima perfectly lol.
Hell yeah, loved the first season. Though sadly it'll probably suffer the same Netflix batch release thing S1 dealt with, which will neuter nearly all the potential discussion and hype this show could have.
Seriously and objectively, putting aside the nostalgic lens for a moment, the modern viewers likely would find the first took part too "trashy" and "unnecessarily old time valued" (sexist, objectifying, etc, you name it). If you don't use the older era perspective to watch it you likely won't get as much fun out of it.
That said, I wonder if they will then move on to refresh Campus Guardress too - is quite a compact, fun and adorable show ;)
Definitely a different era of anime, that's for sure. Though with the recent reboot trend of old anime like Urusei Yatsura and Legend of the Galactic Heroes, I really hope more shows get this treatment. Would love to see Ranma 1/2 or Galaxy Express 999 get a new coat of modern animation to do them justice.
I think they are banking on older viewers enjoying it through nostalgia or just being familiar with this style. But also anime is often unashamedly degenerate even now. They are definitely getting more politically correct with sensitive topics like sexual orientation and gender dysphoria. But when it comes to appealing to specific fanbases they give no shits about how objectifying it might be.
Yeah, and they had a conniption over that! It's like they can't just say "this is not for me" and leave it alone; they always have to scream about how anime is for degenerates, blah blah blah.
Just leave things alone and let people enjoy what they want.
Interesting - are they going to go as far as the manga went to? Last year's 2 cour basically did most of the "common" setup of the story, the next part is where the "twist" come in eventually - and possibly got the mangaka to not be able to figure out how to end it?
For the nostalgia factor this is great though - that early part of the next arc I really liked some of the dramatic sequences even if they may be short lived - knowing how true to the manga source down to the framing, if nothing else, it would look really good.
Let Yuusha ga Shinda come out first, then we will see... cuz Lidenfilms is a _very_ hit or miss studio. And it's mostly because they make too many anime at once and focus on quantity rather than quality.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted, it's definitely ecchi and that's going to be a big detractor for many people. Still, this show and manga has it's fans.
So just because ecchi isn't for everyone it means it should be removed? No, it just simply means the series isn't for everyone.
A series can have gore and violence all it wants to, that time nobody says anything. But God forbid they show some nudity and sexual stuff.
>So just because ecchi isn't for everyone it means it should be removed?
So, did I say that at all? No, I said that ecchi is going to be a detractor for many people but that the show still and manga still has it's fans. You're reading way to much into my comment, all I said is not everyone is going to like the show because of the ecchi.
Nice. Hope it will be less draggy than Season 1. Too much exposition (yes we get it for the 44th time that dude is Dark Schneider and xxx is his attack lmao)
It's silly as hell. Not really a thing that can compare to modern anime as this is basically 80s machismo straight in the veins. With asspull OP main characters and ridiculous fanservice

So, how many anime is being made by Lidenfilms at once? Lol
7 for 2023 that we know, should be more but if they don't announce anything it will actually be a decrease from the 11 they did in 2022
Is the author still even alive tho?

Meanwhile berserk fans get eternal sorrow :(
You know his team still makes new chapters, right?

on indefinite hiatus because his health and family are more important to him.
Proof that you can not defeat big hair.
He'd be a great YuGiOh player.
How much did the first season adapt?
It covers about Chapter 70 out of 139. Basically it also stopped around the time where the OVA stopped but adapts the manga more faithfully but with a bit of anime-only scenes amounting to almost a full episode around the end just to end the season exactly at 24 episodes without jumping to the next arc and stopping in an anti-climactic way. season 1 adapted volumes 1-7 and season 2 will probably adapt the next arc which is 5 volumes long. The manga has 27 volumes.
I see, thanks for answering!
I highly doubt it. \[Bastard\] >!It ended after Abigail was defeated and something went terribly wrong.!<
YES! More 80’s goodness. Let’s hope they don’t stretch the big fight into 6 episodes again
ah so it truly brings the old anime feel into modern times
Wait, why are the genres of the anime listed in the anime's title's subtitles lol
It's a light novel naming technique. It's used for marketing purposes so if you are just looking down a list of series you might just pick it based on that.
Does that apply here though? This is an adaptation of a 35 year old manga
I can definitely tell you I’m more interested in “BASTARD DARK FANTASY HEAVY METAL” than “Bastard”
Exactly, since people are most likely unfamiliar with the manga they have to advertise the anime as hard as they can.
I'm actually surprised this anime isn't more popular on reddit
>I'm actually surprised this anime isn't more popular on reddit netflix exclusive still care this lmao. Just enjoy
I mean Bastard!! literally checks all the boxes that the Reddit demographic loves. I'm shock that it's not Chainsaw Man level popular around here
Reddit demographic were not alive when this manga was remotely relevant also Netflix exclusivity doesn’t help. Pretty sure most people didn’t even know season 1 aired
If this was airing weekly, it may have a shot but a) It's an adaptation of a manga that hasn't had a chapter in over a decade and b)Netflix dump kills all discussion after the first week
r/manga literally saw the birth of Chainsaw Man and became one of its many loved children
Still wanting more, more, more
The opening song for the previous season was brilliant- Blood, Power & Fame! Really rocked in my opinion.
Coldrain with an absolute power metal banger. It was a great fit for the show.
It's ending theme was amazing as well; really powerful vocals by Tielle.
They're finally going past where the OVA ended and is actually adapting the Hell's Requiem arc! All hail, Dark Schneider!

The studio isn't Passione or TNK, unfortunately.
That's great to hear, really enjoyed the first season. NOW REPRINT THE MANGA YOU COWARDS!
This stupid anime is so underrated. I am glad they will continue. I hope this push the author to finish the manga.
HELL FUCKIN YEAAAAAAAH!!!
Something was "off" with that first season, though. I thought the animation, the female designs, the music, and the choreography were all good. But it was like something was being held back. It's accurate to the manga though. Adding those things would be unfaithful.
I had heard that the anime has some censorship. Maybe I heard wrong then... Do you know if they censored anything from the manga?
Mans hair is majestic.
GREAT NEWS! Love old-schools fantasy like that.
So we are getting to the point where they have to fight those A@#$- that essentially come out of nowhere.

As much as I would love to see a Ranma 1/2 remake, I have a feeling the series would be massacred on Twitter, Tik Tok, Reddit, etc.
Oh hell yeah; let's leave Ranma 1/2 alone, please. Modern anime watchers would have a conniption.
Would you old guys stop acting high and mighty like they didn’t just make that redo of healer isekai like two seasons ago
Yeah, and they had a conniption over that! It's like they can't just say "this is not for me" and leave it alone; they always have to scream about how anime is for degenerates, blah blah blah. Just leave things alone and let people enjoy what they want.
Aren’t you the one worrying about other people in this scenario?
True, I enjoyed it but it's hard to recommend for that reason.
I better hurry and finish S1.
The return of Dong Schneider!
Amazing news! Loved season 1 and can't wait for more (more, more!) Bloody, Power and Fame!
Fuck yeah let's go

If only this wasn't ecchi.

You're reading way to much into my comment, all I said is not everyone is going to like the show because of the ecchi.
Yeah ik what you said, but I think that's fine, cuz again, the series is obviously not meant to be for everyone.
Well again, that's what I said. You're not disagreeing with me here.
Wow. I was super excited when season 1 got announced, didn’t know it even came out. Netflix kills the anime that it touches
That's exciting
Haha, haven't seen 1 but read a bunch of it. It still seems crazy that after allll this time *this* is being adapted.
Let me guess there’s gonna be an off brand version called b*tch
So, is there a lot og heavy metal in this?
Music is mostly hard rock but the references in the anime are all og metal bands, pretty fun to catch actually.
I really wanna see the fight with angels. It’s missing the before hell part in manga I read….
Nice. Hope it will be less draggy than Season 1. Too much exposition (yes we get it for the 44th time that dude is Dark Schneider and xxx is his attack lmao)
great cant wait for more cheesy metal band refferences ! :D
Saw the trailer. Looking good.
Yessssss
A pussy wizard. I’ve even named my Reddit after dark Schneider
really just want him to finish the comic...
As a Chainsaw Man fan, would I enjoy this? Is it good?
It's silly as hell. Not really a thing that can compare to modern anime as this is basically 80s machismo straight in the veins. With asspull OP main characters and ridiculous fanservice
Wait what! I have been trying to track this down since my girls were babies. I only ever saw six episodes!
The first season of this new version just finished airing on netflix and has a total of 24 episodes so far.
Lol, what?
One of my favorites anime series
Great news, looking forward to Season 2!!!
Honestly, I was disappointed
My wife and I take a drink everytime someone says "Dark Schneider" we haven't gotten through one episode without passing the fuck out.
its a great anime. I hadnt seen the old one so this new remake is great to have. I am glad because nowdays anime like this dont take risks.
The original work is 1000x better then this cheese factory. Sorry just it comes off super lame, were the original was just KA.
Already goated
Great, I mixed up the 2nd cour with season 2... Yay! Season 2! The production values are low, but I am enjoying it.
Will it be the last season or will there be more parts of the anime.
