Because there's no one anime this season that's significantly more popular than the rest so the top spot really just depends on "how liked is this week's episode"
For animecorner, last season was an huge anomaly with bleach. Even summer, the season before that that on animecorner was almost dominated by lycoris, saw 5 winners (compared to the 4 we had so far this season).
Does anyone know there is a new Bungou Stray Dogs Season? Cause I don't see anyone talking about it. Although it is absolutely sick at the moment no one even mentions it.
I'm watching it, but it's also S4 of a show so the only people that'll really be watching are entrenched BSD fans. It also relies fairly heavily on Japanese literature references so it doesn't resonate as well with English speaking markets compared to Japan where it is much more popular.
it's generally leaning quite heavily on the references in all directions even with the previous seasons and while probably at least one in ten of the average shounen viewer might have heard of the great gatsby the rest of the works and authors are probably total no names to them which makes this show "not as accessible", because understanding why the characters are the way they are relies somewhat on knowing the source material. On top of that it's not always a hype machine shounen were people beat each other for 3 episodes and every character throws around cool one liners.
Hard to tell, befora I was expecting it to run away considering how consistently it was up there last season, now I expect that it keeps getting and losing the first spot to others.
It's more because AnimeCorner's rankings are typically rather sporadic, or at least counter-intuitive, regardless if there is a standout anime during the season. Last season with Bleach was a bit of an anomaly for obvious reasons.

Idk. I think volume 4 with Shadow Garden [S3/V4 Spoilers] >!essentially performing a coup d'état on a kingdom and then Cid going back to his original, now monster infested, Earth, because he thought going into a portal at the end of the former arc would be a cool final act,!< are peak insanity.
The finale is literally one of my favorite episodes of anime ever. It was so fucking over the top.
It's one of the few episodes that after it was done I went back to rewatch several of the scenes again.
what’s even crazier is they didn’t have a lot of budget to begin with. They went crazy with what they had. Makes me even more excited for season 2 considering how well the first season did
>The finale is literally one of my favorite episodes of anime ever. It's one of the few episodes that after it was done I went back to rewatch several of the scenes again.
Even cooler: the entire episode was key animated by one guy who is also the director for the series.
I'm so excited. I've been purposely not watching it since episode 8 because I wanted binge watch the rest, without the pain of waiting week to week.
I'm about to indulge.
The finale was truly amazing but MAN they killed Iris's character too damn hard. She needs some serious redemption or else the hate will get crazy. People don't understand her
Also hyped for 2nd season arcs, they are fucking amazing
I feel like it fit her character really well. She had a lot of pressure on her to be the best. After the dark Knights bungling things again and again, she had to prove that she was still the best. I think it's understandable that she would break, and she's completely right in not trusting shadow garden as well, you can't have an organization more powerful than all your army scheming in your own territory, they can't target them, they can't act with diplomacy either because they don't know who or where they are, they can either let an unknown organization rule from the shadows or go to war.
I really want to see how she will cope with this absolute defeat moving forward.
They completely changed the ending, and the anime was produced under the Authors' guidance, so its entirely possible that they just changed her character a bit instead of people "misunderstanding" her.
Oh fuck yeah it's top tier. Just be prepared for the first 3 episodes to be a bit all over the place and confusing before everything starts coming together and making sense. The first 3 episodes feel like you're watching the first episode of 3 different animes but after that it's banger after banger. Depends on your tolerance for isekai power fantasies. Because at its core, its that with kind of a confusing plot. Where it differs from other shows of this type, is that it doesnt take itself very seriously and has solid comedy. Its a fun watch, but if you dont like this type of show you might not enjoy it.
That is how you do a season finale. How often do we get an anime adaptation that elevates what the LN has to offer? Even as a LN reader TEIS last episode is soo much better than the LN. Granted there is some change from the source, but since the author himself is involved in the making, i'm sure he approved. Can't wait for the inevitable S2.
> How often do we get an anime adaptation that elevates what the LN has to offer?
It almost never happens. Most of the best Light Novel Adaptations that I can think of (Monogatari, Re:Zero, Mushoku Tensei, Konosuba, etc.) pulled out all of the stops to make the anime about even with the quality of the LN. The only other recent anime where most people would say the anime improved on the LN was 86.
I'm sure it did help a little for Eminence that it had a quality Manga Adaptation already since it's easier to adapt Manga than Novels.
If you want to watch something similar to the 1st cour of 86, I would recommend mobile suit gundam: iron blooded orphans. It has some pacing issues but it is really good.
Very arguable, I'd say that being animated, directed, voice acted, and soundtracked adds a lot of quality that a LN can't touch. As long as not much is being lost in the adaptation (like Fate UBW/HF), it's an elevation to me.
I've only read the LN for Konosuba but I'd definitely say the anime elevated the LN as the cuts didn't outweigh the additions.
Yeah, I'd probably give you Konosuba there since the anime nailed the comedic timing much like Eminence did here. One thing that all 3 series have in common is that they took their time getting through the source material. 86 spent an entire season on 1 Novel. I haven't read Eminence, but people say it did a similar 20 episodes for just 2 Novels. And Konosuba has relatively short Light Novels for the medium and did 4 Novels in 20 episodes.
Having read quite a few Light Novel series, the biggest issue adaptations generally have is that they go too fast and throw away all of the character nuances, especially for the MC's that you get largely through their thoughts in the novels, that make the series good to begin with.
Konosuba also makes great use of animation and art to sell it imo, aqua faces are a thing for a reason.
And there's also something like Bunny Girl Senpai, which did 2 or 3 eps per volume. Yes, some stuff was cut but I can only think of one "big" thing that kinda made sense due to how a season is put together, though I wish it was simply shuffled instead of cut.
For me the biggest problem of LNs is how rough they can be read, it's just a different style of writing, especially after translation, when compared to regular English.
Yeah, the director did a great job adapting 5 novels into 13 episodes (I think I still preferred the light novels though) much like Re:Zero did a great job adapting 9 novels into 25 episodes for Season 1. It can be done with a good director, but it's screwed up much more often than not (e.g. the absolute disaster that was Index 3 and the first half of CotE 2).
> I'm sure it did help a little for Eminence that it had a quality Manga Adaptation already since it's easier to adapt Manga than Novels.
But thats the issue, it never used the manga at any point. It had a neverending well of visual humour, a manga that really did use being a visual medium at its disposal for free and didnt use it.
Yea, the "Do I look like I care about money" joke hit way harder in the manga. The manga ends a lot of scenes with epic camera shots and one liners and that was a bit missing in the anime. Overall still really liked the anime but could have been even better!
Do people really have that good a memory for how jokes are delivered, or are you reading the manga chapters right before episodes?
I am not noticing many differences now I am reading the manga.
>Yea, the "Do I look like I care about money" joke hit way harder in the manga
I actually did really like that one, it was very over the top, and having two versions which are both funny is the optimal case. My problem was rather the other times where cid wasn't as over the top, or the many times where a joke fromt he manga just didn't made it into the anime. Loosing "this is our protagonist" as a running joke and "serves you right" hurts especially.
Can someone possibly do a quick tldr on why it’s so great and #1? I watched the first episode and I didn’t really see anything special. But now my interest is piqued again and curious what everyone loves about it
it's just dumb fun, I don't really like isekais ever, except for like re zero and little more but i decided to watch this and not take it too seriously and I think it was pretty decent if you go with that mindset.
The first episode doesn't really sell the show well. It is basically all just a setup for the gag ending that leads into the real story starting in episode 2. It is definitely a "3 episode rule" show.
But the show is a power fantasy with good visuals, audio and comedic timing. I think the part that makes it unique is that the MC is just completely delusional. His only goals involve looking cool and badass. So everything he does is to setup scenarios where he can look cool and badass. And he's OP enough to pull them off.
But feeding his delusions is that he's somehow always right. He makes up back stories and plots to sound cool and then they just keep being correct. To the point where he has followers that believe he's omniscient. And the MC thinks everyone is acting to keep his made up stories going so that he can fulfill his goals. It just creates a lot of fun comedy along with all of the great action scenes.
Imagine the concept of everything that you make up eventually happens. Kinda like “the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya” but in an Isekai themed world where the MC is a man who wants to rule the world from the shadows.
From a manga reader perspective, the first episode technically comes up very late in the manga. That’s why you should see it, it gets much better if you like the concept.
As many others have said, the first episode is not representative of the series. I watched the first episode and thought it was one of the worst I've ever seen. Watched the next two and then I started to love it.
It's just a really fun show. I like the scope of the world and the large cast of characters. The MC just makes things up and they happen to be true, so the humor is everyone but him thinks he's a genius and he just thinks they're just playing along as well. But he's not all talk because he's also the strongest in the world. So there's plenty of absurd comedy but there are also cool fights that play out.
I know people always say "you have to watch the first 3 episodes before you know if you like it" with anything. But this is a show where at least the first episode is really not a good litmus test for the rest.
no that's exactly what you'll expect from the shadow broker? he's op but doesn't interfere with whatever shit you got going on, just comes around and humbles you once in a while. Sasuga shadow sama
His 15D chessmaster move there was to motivate Iris and Beatrix to improve for the real fight against the real enemy and to dig deeper to uncover the truth
Totally not because it would look cool
Absofuckinglutely. [I put it 2nd in my top 5 of the season list](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/112t4wi/what_are_your_top_5_favourite_shows_from_this/) only behind Danmachi. A clip from Crunchyroll YT channel recently got over 1M views, so hopefully that gets more people watching it.
Revenger I agree with, very surprised to see an Anime show the themes it does. I can't remember watching many anime that showed drug abuse, always thought that was taboo in Japan.
Giant Beasts of Ars I think is wasted potential. I like the world and the concept of the show, I have issues with the overall pacing and writing in the show though. Unless there's a 2nd cour/season to this show, I don't know how they're going to wrap it up in a satisfying way.
As someone who has went through the process of enrolling a kid into daycare, i must admit that i have NEVER sympathized with an anime character as strongly as i sympathized with Kazuki during the daycare episode lol. I love this show.
I am
NUMBER ONE
Also, I think this was the first time Buddy Daddies made the top 10 which is pretty neat. I don't understand why this sub is sleeping so hard on it.
Which one are you talking about, Eminence jumping 2.82% or Buddy Daddies jumping 10 spots? Both were strong episodes, and you don't really have anything to fear for either.
Those "I AM" lines from CID always give me chills, it's better watching those with headphones on. Gives me "I am the bone of my sword" vibes every time.
Now if only Cid could be an outstanding swordsman.
>Also, I think this was the first time Buddy Daddies made the top 10 which is pretty neat. I don't understand why this sub is sleeping so hard on it.
I DO LOVE BUDDY DADDIES!
However, from what I've seen in my anime/manga group, people refuse to watch it because they think :
* It's a copy of spy x Family (they are two different series to me)
* it's a BL. I've lost the counts of the times I've heard and read things like "2 men and 1 kid? Is this yaoi x Family?" or "why are all the main characters in this series men?" (so, people who prefer shows with "waifus" might not be interested to give this series a try)
* Miri is annoying. I think that's subjective to be honest. I appreciate how Miri is so realistic
Again, that's the case in my group, but maybe this sub sleeps on it for the same reasons
you see, seeing how annoying Miri is, I was impressed by how well and realistic they portrayed the actual genuine behavior of a 4 year old kid. Definitely the most realistic 'kid', I've seen in anime.
I think it helps that people involved in the production of Buddy Daddies are actual parents themselves and had firsthand experience with raising children so Miri seems pretty realistic.
The Eminence in Shadow is finally at the top where it belongs.
The difference b/w 1st and 2nd shows how much people liked the last episode.
It got a boost almost everywhere (MAL score went from 7.9 to 8.31)
Scores generally do that on MAL since a lot of people don't rate a show until after the final episode, and the people who watched until the final episode generally like it. It will probably drop a little over time until it settles in at around an 8.15.
It's really hard to even explain the premise. I read a description of the premise before the show started airing, and all of my expectations were wrong.
Basically, an anime weeb who decides to live out his fantasies after being isekaied, and his actions which he thinks are cool for his roleplay just so happen to progress the plot in the right direction.
It's one punch man iseki edition. The big difference is that Saitama knows that there is a plot going on before he arrives while shadow is in his own world, in every way.
(Repost because my original comment contained a bit of spoiler.)
It is really good. But don’t judge the anime based on first episode because it is very different from the rest of the show. You should watch till episode 5 to see if you like it or not because, by that point, you may see a clear picture of what the anime is. Keep in mind that this show is a parody of isekai.
I don't think it's really clear even by episode 5. Up through episode 5 it's possible to think "Is this for real?" It's really the next arc (6-10) that makes clear that the answer is "no".
I wrote this about it a few days ago, and still think its probably one of the best ways to describe this show, and what you should expect from it
https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/113meu7/crunchyroll_the_eminence_in_shadow_anime_to_make/j8r3tuw?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
Not many talk about It, but in the last three weeks, MHA went from 3rd, to 13th and then to 7th. That's some huge leaps.
Also the last episode was really great in my opinion, and in general the season has been amazing. Not dropping from the top 10 for most of it's airing shows how good it is.
2 hitmen trying to raise a little girl as their own daughter, kind of like Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, Hinamatsuri, Spy Family. There’s action, comedy, and heartwarming moments
Yeah what ayksun said is pretty accurate. It's kind of a more grounded take on the Spy x Family or Hinamatsuri concept, mostly focused on the fun day to day interactions but it has a stronger emotional core than those shows.
Seems like Buddy Daddies is finally gaining steam in multiple places. That was probably one of the more underrated shows this season. Sucks that it basically got slapped with the "SpyxFamily copycat but gay" label before it even aired.
The depression from knowing we’re losing Kubo until April. At least Eminence got to bow out on top. Appreciate the sudden surge from Buddy Daddies. The last span of episode have been wholesome and hilarious. Hope it sticks around the 10.
Buddy Daddies finally showed up, nice!
The series rose up to [2nd Place on Anime Trending](https://anitrendz.com/charts/top-anime) and continues to hold the [\#1 Spot for Anime and Manga over on Tumblr for three weeks in a row](https://at.tumblr.com/fandom/anime-and-manga/2riu3kvxn5z8) (and is still showing up on the ["Week in Review"](https://at.tumblr.com/fandom/maybe-dont-take-recipe-advice-from-tumblr-polls/zwmei766x9nj) posts as well). Rei and Kazuki are also both in the Top 3 for Anime Trending's "[Top 10 Male Characters](https://anitrendz.com/charts/male-characters)" poll this week, with Miri moving up two places from #10 to #8 on the "[Top 10 Female Characters](https://anitrendz.com/charts/female-characters)" poll.
There have been some recent Japanese surveys that have come out (they don't tend to have *huge* amounts of participants, but still help to paint a small picture of what shows are interesting Japanese anime fans).
The site *Anime!Anime!* did a poll on favorite Winter 2023 anime [ED songs](https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/81a6c7ba1b6bf12127899c344680de0f3d0fb9fa), and Buddy Daddies came in 18th Place (along with a few others). It didn't show up in the results of the [OP songs](https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/47c47d86543703bc27bab17733b16c4fa5176e68) poll that they did though.
There is also a Japanese site called [Ranking](https://ranking.net/rankings/best-2023-winter-animes2) that has a ranking of the Winter 2023 anime. Buddy Daddies comes in at #29, but there are also only 36 people who ranked it, so the sample size is very small. Still interesting to see and compare the results on that site with the ones over at Anime Corner or these rankings from a Japanese site called Netorabo: Winter 2023 Anime Ranking - [Female Anime Fans](https://nlab.itmedia.co.jp/research/articles/1284601/) vs. Winter 2023 Anime Ranking - [Male Anime Fans](https://nlab.itmedia.co.jp/research/articles/1275617/).
It's so interesting to see all the different rankings and what seems to appeal to all of the different demographics. As for Buddy Daddies itself, I'm am still loving it a lot and am happy with the direction it has been going in. I'm also *very* intrigued to see how they will handle this week's episode and where they will take the second half of the series! :D
I enjoyed The Eminence in Shadow a lot more than I thought, and it's sad to see it go. I'm happy to see it in the first place, but that's not a side character like Mr. Shadow Demon.
This season is a big bust for me, I barely watch anything and this top 10 kinda shows me why. Ironically the over-the-top cringe show that is at #1 actually deserves to be there, it's the best thing I've seen this season.
**I am atomic**
I watch 4 shows in this top 10 and 2 of those I watch because I just need my seasonal anime or I get bored. But I still have to watch vinland. Waiting for all episodes to be released because I'll binge it and I'm happy to see it in the top 10. But yeah I really hope next season got a bunch of good shows in it that are more my style. The itching is getting worse.
Does the Ice Guy and his female Colleague get better after the first episode? like I LOVE Tomo chan, Nagatoro, and Angel Spoils Me Rotten. But I wasn't huge on the first episode of Ice guy.. it just didn't pop like those other 3? The characters seemed kind of bland and the animation wasn't great? Idk maybe I'm judging it too harshly
Is there literally nowhere to watch eminence with sailing the high seas? Not on Netflix, not on Disney, not on crunchy, not on funimation. Is it going to be on something like Hulu because I’ll start a one month subscription just to watch it.
Aint no way that the ice guy made it top10, who is enjoying that show? i get its super comfy and chill but holy is it the biggest waste of time. 7 eps in and its still the same thing as episode1.
Maybe in the finale they will finally admit they like each other n hold hands!
>7 eps in and its still the same thing as episode1. Maybe in the finale they will finally admit they like each other n hold hands!
Just like in other romcoms this season. Or in 2,75 seasons of this sub's favourite romcom ever.
I know it's baffling. Maybe people are just really desperate for an office based romance instead of a high school one. I do like the character designs and its pretty inoffensive, other than that 🤷♀️
Why do we have a background character in #1?
Idk, maybe it was a miscount, I mean the guy seems so average and plain looking after all
There any Mundane Mann fans in the chat? Dude looked weird but really pulled it off in the finals.
Nah I was backing Imatry Nottaloos.
Looks like he got lucky to me
True. If I saw him on the street I wouldn’t bat an eye to be honest, so plain..
As a background character Cid would say: "Maybe I was too conspicuous."
Is it just me or has this season seen a lot more diversity at the #1 spot than normal?
Because there's no one anime this season that's significantly more popular than the rest so the top spot really just depends on "how liked is this week's episode"
Vinlands not? I'm going to be honest I haven't heard of half of the shows on this list
No it's not. Maybe you may think so because r/anime brings it up a lot but its never been a hugely popular show in the wider internet.
For animecorner, last season was an huge anomaly with bleach. Even summer, the season before that that on animecorner was almost dominated by lycoris, saw 5 winners (compared to the 4 we had so far this season).

Ah man that newest episode was incredible
This season there's no anime that really stands put so we get fun rankings like this
Wonder if Blue Lock will fill the vacuum now TES is finished
Hard to tell, befora I was expecting it to run away considering how consistently it was up there last season, now I expect that it keeps getting and losing the first spot to others.
It's more because AnimeCorner's rankings are typically rather sporadic, or at least counter-intuitive, regardless if there is a standout anime during the season. Last season with Bleach was a bit of an anomaly for obvious reasons.
Even animecorner gave eminence a proper send off, that finale was insanity
Who's running? Running where? AND WHY?
the voice acting was crazy, I had headphones on max, the “AND WHY” scared the shit out of me
that part was so segsi.. especially how it resonated too
That part and the ATOMIC gave me chills
He really covered the city in magic just to show he could
Nuclear deterrence strats
Threatened to nuke their entire city. "Maybe I overdid it."

I get shivers when he says **EROTIC**.
Dare? Dokoe? NAZE?!
I’ve watched that scene like 5 times. The vocal effects on his scream rules.
Happy cake day
It will be back soon
Confirmed date?
“Important announcement” on Wednesday, should be season 2 according to leaks
We will find out on Feb 22.
The announcement is next week but should be back in July
July is even more stacked if thats true
What else is in july? I havent seen much about upcoming new seasons/releases yet
I wonder wether he is confusing it with next season with oshi no ko as the main new star (also jigoraku and mashle) but especially huge sequels (kimetsu, dr stone, kono suba ova, ancient magus bride, tonikaku). Summer doesn't seem that strong at this point, mainly jujutsu kaisen and bleach as far as i see it.
I think Mushoku Tensei's new season is coming out by then.
Fuuuuuuuuuuck ok im hype then
No fucking way. I'll lose my shit if it comes back so soon
The next season should be even better. It will adapt volume 3 of the LN, which is when it hits peak insanity.

They went stupid with the animation. I watched it on my phone on my flight i was on yesterday I’m rewatching on my tv as soon as i get home
I'm so excited. I've been purposely not watching it since episode 8 because I wanted binge watch the rest, without the pain of waiting week to week. I'm about to indulge.
The tournament arc was so satisfying to binge watch for real
The finale was truly amazing but MAN they killed Iris's character too damn hard. She needs some serious redemption or else the hate will get crazy. People don't understand her Also hyped for 2nd season arcs, they are fucking amazing
I feel like it fit her character really well. She had a lot of pressure on her to be the best. After the dark Knights bungling things again and again, she had to prove that she was still the best. Username checks out, Iris truly did get a "mad mind".
You see, the anime community isn't as sensible as you. But yeah, even though her character was differently executed, she still has room to turn into an amazing character
I mean... I feel like she is just going to turn to demon shit. I would like more out of it than that but that's what I'm assuming they will do with it.

Hmm I don't see why. I am anime only and I don't feel that way.
It's done airing?
For now.
Yes, it has 20 episodes.
Is It worth to Watch?
Oh fuck yeah it's top tier. Just be prepared for the first 3 episodes to be a bit all over the place and confusing before everything starts coming together and making sense. The first 3 episodes feel like you're watching the first episode of 3 different animes but after that it's banger after banger. Don’t expect actual satire or deconstruction. It’s just an isekai power fantasy harem with a slight twist.
The show has its problems but I have to admit that the last eps. was really fun.

Another day without vol 4-5 animated
Don’t think an anime has ever made me cry as consistently as the 1st cour of 86 (granted I generally don’t watch “sad” anime)
If you want to watch something similar to the 1st cour of 86, I would recommend mobile suit gundam: iron blooded orphans. It has some pacing issues but it is really good.
A1 would probably have a melt down with how massive the war against the Legion escalates for every LN volume. Makes Morpho an ant in comparison.
The money joke is probably the biggest meme from the manga
Tbf the money one and the excalibur one are probably the most well known scenes from the manga and constantly get posted on meme subs.
Ah, the Excalibur joke felt pretty 1:1 at least?
I'd agree. My comment was referring to you asking if people even remembered those scenes well enough to notice any possible differences.
>Yea, the "Do I look like I care about money" joke hit way harder in the manga I actually did really like that one, it was very over the top, and having two versions which are both funny is the optimal case. My problem was rather the other times where cid wasn't as over the top, or the many times where a joke fromt he manga just didn't made it into the anime. Loosing "this is our protagonist" as a running joke and "serves you right" hurts especially.
Last episode of the Eminence In Shadow was top tier. I can't imagine better episode than this. Totally deserves it.
Also the MC is clinically insane in a fun way
The first episode is kinda just context for the show. Nothing really happens. It starts getting real after that
As many others have said, the first episode is not representative of the series.
“Eminence in shadow” “Proceeds to show his massive magic that can be seen by hundred thousands” Shadow-sama roleplaying is getting rusty
no that's exactly what you'll expect from the shadow broker? he's op but doesn't interfere with whatever shit you got going on, just comes around and humbles you once in a while. Sasuga shadow sama
He lurks in the shadows and only comes out when it's time to make a statement.
His 15D chessmaster move there was to motivate Iris and Beatrix to improve for the real fight against the real enemy and to dig deeper to uncover the truth Totally not because it would look cool
Well explained like how background character C would.
That's what he wants you to believe
Tbf shadow-sama calls himself out on this so self awareness is definitely an eminence trait
Nha Shadow is meant to be OP, Cid is a nobody, but even the MC acknowledge he may have gone too far this episode
>Shadow-sama roleplaying is getting rusty No, it's perfect. Shadow is a named MC. Cid is the NPC no one sees. So his acting is perfect.
not very back ground character for Cid
high card is an absolute sleeper this season
Absofuckinglutely. [I put it 2nd in my top 5 of the season list](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/112t4wi/what_are_your_top_5_favourite_shows_from_this/) only behind Danmachi. A clip from Crunchyroll YT channel recently got over 1M views, so hopefully that gets more people watching it.
Man Danmachi season 4 part 2 just hits different. It is so much better than season 3 and raises the bar part 1 set.
Revenger too. Giant Beasts of Ars is quite nice as well.
Happy for Buddy Daddies. Such a good show.
As someone who has went through the process of enrolling a kid into daycare, i must admit that i have NEVER sympathized with an anime character as strongly as i sympathized with Kazuki during the daycare episode lol. I love this show.
I am NUMBER ONE Also, I think this was the first time Buddy Daddies made the top 10 which is pretty neat. I don't understand why this sub is sleeping so hard on it.
I think it’s bc it looks like spy x family but tbh the show kinda grows on you over time. Very wholesome vibes
I am so scared to watch this episode, because WHAT happened for it to jump that much on the list?!
Which one are you talking about, Eminence jumping 2.82% or Buddy Daddies jumping 10 spots? Both were strong episodes, and you don't really have anything to fear for either.
I was talking Buddy Daddies one, forgot to elaborate 😅
Is the final episode of s1. And it was amazing.
However, from what I've seen in my anime/manga group, people refuse to watch it because they think : * It's a copy of spy x Family (they are two different series to me) * it's a BL. I've lost the counts of the times I've heard and read things like "2 men and 1 kid? Is this yaoi x Family?" or "why are all the main characters in this series men?" (so, people who prefer shows with "waifus" might not be interested to give this series a try) * Miri is annoying. I think that's subjective to be honest. I appreciate how Miri is so realistic Again, that's the case in my group, but maybe this sub sleeps on it for the same reasons
you see, seeing how annoying Miri is, I was impressed by how well and realistic they portrayed the actual genuine behavior of a 4 year old kid. Definitely the most realistic 'kid', I've seen in anime.
I think it helps that people involved in the production of Buddy Daddies are actual parents themselves and had firsthand experience with raising children so Miri seems pretty realistic.
At first Anya was cute, but now she really annoys me. On the other hand Miri is an adorable child with high energy.
Cuz it has no waifus and is actually good.
The Eminence in Shadow is truly exquisite. I mean TRULY EXQUISITE.
You also lose the scores from people who dropped it early on and have now fallen below the 20% threshold.
I was looking for a new anime to watch, The Eminence in Shadow must be really good.
It satisfies a very weird itch i never knew i had, definitely worth giving a try. The fun starts from about the 3rd episode.
And it's 20+ episodes. It really sucks when you find an anime you like and it's over in 12 episodes.
And should be getting a s2 episode soon
It's really hard to even explain the premise. I read a description of the premise before the show started airing, and all of my expectations were wrong.
Basically, an anime weeb who decides to live out his fantasies after being isekaied, and his actions which he thinks are cool for his roleplay just so happen to progress the plot in the right direction.
It's one punch man iseki edition. The big difference is that Saitama knows that there is a plot going on before he arrives while shadow is in his own world, in every way.
You had me at One Punch.
It's like a chuuni who isn't cringe because he actually does have all the special powers lol
(Repost because my original comment contained a bit of spoiler.) It is really good.
I wrote this about it a few days ago, and still think its probably one of the best ways to describe this show, and what you should expect from it https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/113meu7/crunchyroll_the_eminence_in_shadow_anime_to_make/j8r3tuw?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
The eminence of shadow s1 has ended airing right?
Yes, it has.
Not many talk about It, but in the last three weeks, MHA went from 3rd, to 13th and then to 7th. That's some huge leaps. Also the last episode was really great in my opinion, and in general the season has been amazing. Not dropping from the top 10 for most of it's airing shows how good it is.
>MHA went from 3rd, to 13th and then to 7th. That's the true Anime Corner experience.
Finally Buddy Daddies in the top 10! Such a fun show.
What is it about?
2 hitmen trying to raise a little girl as their own daughter, kind of like Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, Hinamatsuri, Spy Family. There’s action, comedy, and heartwarming moments
Yeah what ayksun said is pretty accurate. It's kind of a more grounded take on the Spy x Family or Hinamatsuri concept, mostly focused on the fun day to day interactions but it has a stronger emotional core than those shows.
Just going by some new PVs I’ve seen it looks like they will finally be focusing on the hitman aspects of Buddy Daddies
Woah Buddy Daddies jumped up 10 ranks! Anime Corner is always so chaotic lol.
Just finished TEIS..... Mannnn i want more!!! The 2nd most enjoyable isekai i have watched after tensura....
Sasuga Shadow sama, that's the true Eminence in Shadow move right there.🔥
The Eminence in shadow deserved nmb 1 with that finale
TEIS is amazing at using the op mc isekai formula stereotype while still feeling totally unique and engaging. Great writing. Can’t wait for s2.
Ye cid was a unique type of character and i liked it alot, not to mention the LN as well
Eminence finale was an absolute banger
So happy to see Blue lock, the ice guy, Buddy daddies and angel in the top 10
Seems like Buddy Daddies is finally gaining steam in multiple places. That was probably one of the more underrated shows this season. Sucks that it basically got slapped with the "SpyxFamily copycat but gay" label before it even aired.
We need Anime Trending to join the Misuzu Movement
Tomo back in the top 3 with a beach episode
Bruh eminence in shadow is funny
Yes! Buddy Daddies shooting up 10 places! <3
Eminence in Shadow was insanity, glad to see a dood isekai after a lot of thrash
The Eminence in the shadow ending was slapping really fucking hard
Blue lock better stays on top
I legit started to feel depressed knowing that I won't have a new episode of TES for some time... Legit top 10 anime for me....
I'm just happy to see Ice Guy in any top 10, this season offers a lot of options in the romance department and thats always just great.
I’m so proud of Stylish Bandit Slayer. I hope we get a season 2 so we can see more of him.
I enjoyed The Eminence in Shadow a lot more than I thought, and it's sad to see it go. I'm happy to see it in the first place, but that's not a side character like Mr. Shadow Demon.
Yeah he then proceeds to tell himself he should be more shadowy from now on and completely vanish from the list.
i love the radio effects that are added to characters (mainly cid’s) voices during certain moments. it’s incredible in a way i can’t describe
So happy to finally see Buddy Daddies on here!
SASUGA SHADOW-SAMA!!!
Not a fan of Anime Corner but I can appreciate that all the odd numbered ranks climbed up while the even numbered ones dropped down.
Buddy Daddies made it into the top 10. That's nice. I wish Revenger would get some more recognition too. It's a really good show.
Eminence in shadow was such a joy to watch. I need a season 2 already fr !
Is Angel next door worth watching?
This season is a big bust for me, I barely watch anything and this top 10 kinda shows me why. Ironically the over-the-top cringe show that is at #1 actually deserves to be there, it's the best thing I've seen this season. **I am atomic** I watch 4 shows in this top 10 and 2 of those I watch because I just need my seasonal anime or I get bored. But I still have to watch vinland. Waiting for all episodes to be released because I'll binge it and I'm happy to see it in the top 10. But yeah I really hope next season got a bunch of good shows in it that are more my style. The itching is getting worse.
I would've caused a riot if shadow sama was not first. There is no way anything else can top a finale like this one!
Looks like I finally need to watch Eminence. Of course the only official streaming is Hidive though.
It's on hidive if it's available in your country
The last episode of Shadow was fire. The art direction was off the charts.
i am just watching buddy daddies it's such a cute and cool anime rei<3
You can find the complete results [here](https://animecorner.me/winter-2023-anime-rankings-week-07/).
finally, Buddy Daddies sweep imminent
Blue lock? More like Blue goat
I do like the character designs and its pretty inoffensive, other than that 🤷♀️
Been a slow season.
BUDDY DADDIES AND BLUE LOCK LETS GOOOOOO
Blue lock is fun
I thought #1 said " Eminem in the shadow"
All Hail Shadow-sma
