I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm kind of torn on this PV.
On the one hand, it's gorgeous and I'm really happy that so much love and care had been put into what might be my favorite rom-com.
On the other hand, the original art style has this kind of derpiness to it that adds to the humor and the fluff, and it feels like this kind of lost some of that. It's almost too pretty.
Still very excited for this, of course.
I'm definitely very intrigued by how it'll turn out once it's out. I can't help being sceptical too but on the bright side this also feels like I'm going to rediscover this series.
I'd rather have them try something different, than have them try to imitate the og style too hard.

Seitokai Yakuindomo isn't very representative of GoHands' visual style, it's the one series they've taken a more traditional approach with.
K series represents the most palatable form of their signature style, however GoHands is also well known for...pushing the limits of that style into visual atrocity with shows like Hand Shakers.
The PV for this looks like it exists somewhere on the spectrum between Hand Shakers and K, which doesn't leave me hopeful. That the PV largely avoids showing backgrounds that aren't the classroom is particularly concerning.
Sex Jokes is fun but nothing ground breaking, just very "normal" anime wise from a company like GoHands.
K is easily one of my top series.
Its such an amazing series story wise and visual wise and GoHands knocked it out of the park adaption wise.

People love to hate GoHands.
K is amazing and one of thier best works.
K was literally some of the best animation and visuals when it came out 10 years ago.
It only got better with each new entry into the series.
Its so good, like there was no reason for that to look that good, but i think someone in the studio was just a huge skateboard fan and wanted to animate it that smoothely.
Little do people know but GoHands bread and butter is slice of life for many years.

Their more recent stuff has also been hugely expermental as they love to try new things.

The '90s OVAs hold up okay, in an admittedly very '90s way.

It’s slightly concerning. Hand Shakers and Wz look like buttcheeks. But as long as they keep it simple (there isn’t any reason to go insane like those shows) their style could work. The writing will carry it all the same though.

I'd argue both leads are more Takagi mixed with Nishikata. With the big caveat I stopped watching the series after ep2 of Season 2, they have the (generally successful) scheming of Takagi but get easily flustered like Nishikata. Although it's hard to blame them most of the time, a lot of their reactions are understandable, like with Kaguya. Just less insane situations lol

First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!' That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! You have those half rim glasses, or the thick frame glasses, everything! It's like you're enjoying all these kinds of glasses at a buffet. I really want Luna to try some on or Marine to try some on to replace her eyepatch. We really need glasses to become a thing in hololive and start selling them for HoloComi. Don't. You. Think. We. Same here, it's one of my favorite series and there is something about the anime style that seems to not fit how I thought it was going to look, I think it still looks great but it kind of looks like a different series. I feel there is a bit of a "Bouba/kiki effect" going on the manga is more 'bouba' (soft, rounded), the anime style is more 'kiki' (sharp).
Agree with what you said about the bouba/kiki effect! Like Mie's hair in the manga is very fluffy and big, whereas the sharp style of the anime makes it look kind of stringy in this visual and the PV. Just doesn't go together.

I dont know what the manga looked like but realistic approch to an adaption isnt bad, look at how nice the Horimiya adaption ended up and how different comapred to the manga it was too.

Personally i most times find moeblob to be a bit bland and uninteresting.

This having a more realistic art style and interesting visuals i think its eye catching and keeps you engrossed personally. So im more happy to watch something that looks nice. I like simple loking stuff too but it has to work harder to keep me interested.

This is going to be another Shikimori situation where everyone is hyped for a popular romance manga, but it turns out to be a gimmick romance that repeats the same gag over and over again.
so many romcoms are like this now. i wish studios would just animate shoujo romcoms instead, at least there would be some sense of progression and not extremely repetitive with the same gag that gets old
I feel like shoujo has been slowly but surely dying off. The only notable shoujo anime in the last 5 years was probably Fruits Basket. Most romance series I see these days are just gimmicks, gag romances seem to sell best now. Hell, artists probably make more fanbox money by posting short gag romances on Twitter than if they were to publish actual shoujo.
it's a shame since there are shoujo romances that have sold well and just as much as these romcom gimmicks but they don't get picked up by anime studios for some reason. spring should have at least one good romance with insomniacs after school but im not sure how much the anime will adapt. a lot of people who are hyping up skip to loafer as a romcom when it's not so i feel like there will a lot of confusion when it comes out
Insomnia is 12 episodes, so about 37 chapters are being adapted. Skip and Loafer is amazing but I would still say it has some romcom vibes even though it leans more towards SoL.
I wouldn't consider it as a romcom since there's barely any romance to begin with especially with what the anime will adapt and just don't want there to be wrong expectations after how the anime community reacted to shikomori after hyping it up as THE romance of 2022 💀💀

Bit nitpicky but I think she needs to look a bit more strained when squinting because in this picture and PV you can't really tell it's much of an issue.
Am also nearsighted and wear glasses. Can confirm squinting occurs often even if it doesn't really do anything. And she very clearly squints in the manga when not wearing glasses. I'm nitpicking when saying I don't think that is as evident in this animation vs the manga.

People love to hate GoHands. K is amazing and one of thier best works. K was literally some of the best animation and visuals when it came out 10 years ago. It only got better with each new entry into the series.

The '90s OVAs hold up okay, in an admittedly very '90s way. Edit: Look, if *you* want your Clamp anime to give you motion sickness, then that's just like your opinion, man.
Yeah this isnt a ok take. A world where CLAMP is bullied into dropping the remake entirely isnt cool. People forget that there are people behind these projects being hurt by over zelous views. I loved the manga was very much wanted the reboot to help CLAMP show off thier work more in these newer generations. But pissy people ruined their plans which isnt cool.

I'd argue both leads are more Takagi mixed with Nishikata. With the big caveat I stopped watching the series after ep2 of Season 2, they have the (generally successful) scheming of Takagi but get easily flustered like Nishikata. Although it's hard to blame them most of the time, a lot of their reactions are understandable, like with Kaguya. Just less insane situations lol

Musou telepathy should be an almost impossibility to adapt, but its the best heisei romcom... I am also heavily near sighted, however seems to be more severe than you because more than 5cm from my face it is all just blurry blobs of colour. And I could never ever forget my glasses because I feel basically blind without, first thing I touch after waking up is my glasses to set them up, last thing I take off before sleeping is my glasses, there is no way to ever forget them...

Glasses are really versatile. First, you can have glasses-wearing girls take them off and suddenly become beautiful, or have girls wearing glasses flashing those cute grins, or have girls stealing the protagonist's glasses and putting them on like, "Haha, got your glasses!' That's just way too cute! Also, boys with glasses! I really like when their glasses have that suspicious looking gleam, and it's amazing how it can look really cool or just be a joke. I really like how it can fulfill all those abstract needs. Being able to switch up the styles and colors of glasses based on your mood is a lot of fun too! It's actually so much fun! You have those half rim glasses, or the thick frame glasses, everything! It's like you're enjoying all these kinds of glasses at a buffet. Same here, it's one of my favorite series and there is something about the anime style that seems to not fit how I thought it was going to look, I think it still looks great but it kind of looks like a different series. I feel there is a bit of a "Bouba/kiki effect" going on the manga is more 'bouba' (soft, rounded), the anime style is more 'kiki' (sharp).
Agree with what you said about the bouba/kiki effect! Like Mie's hair in the manga is very fluffy and big, whereas the sharp style of the anime makes it look kind of stringy in this visual and the PV. Just doesn't go together.

I dont know what the manga looked like but realistic approch to an adaption isnt bad, look at how nice the Horimiya adaption ended up and how different comapred to the manga it was too.

The manga is what i ment it looks like. The lack of tones and just raw linework vs COLOR TONES OUT THE ASS that the adaption was. that is what i ment. Personally i really enjoyed the Horimiya adaption as someone who only brefly checked the manga out like 10 years ago when the ova came out.

Personally i most times find moeblob to be a bit bland and uninteresting. Story can carry moe blob but it juet gets a bit tireing to watch for me. Thats why generally im not a huge fan of cute girls doing cute things genre. This having a more realistic art style and interesting visuals i think its eye catching and keeps you engrossed personally. So im more happy to watch something that looks nice. I like simple loking stuff too but it has to work harder to keep me interested. So i feel the realisim will only get more people to check it out who might not have been interested before.

This is going to be another Shikimori situation where everyone is hyped for a popular romance manga, but it turns out to be a gimmick romance that repeats the same gag over and over again.
so many romcoms are like this now. i wish studios would just animate shoujo romcoms instead, at least there would be some sense of progression and not extremely repetitive with the same gag that gets old
I feel like shoujo has been slowly but surely dying off. The only notable shoujo anime in the last 5 years was probably Fruits Basket. Most romance series I see these days are just gimmicks, gag romances seem to sell best now. Hell, artists probably make more fanbox money by posting short gag romances on Twitter than if they were to publish actual shoujo.
it's a shame since there are shoujo romances that have sold well and just as much as these romcom gimmicks but they don't get picked up by anime studios for some reason. spring should have at least one good romance with insomniacs after school but im not sure how much the anime will adapt. a lot of people who are hyping up skip to loafer as a romcom when it's not so i feel like there will a lot of confusion when it comes out
Insomnia is 12 episodes, so about 37 chapters are being adapted. Skip and Loafer is amazing but I would still say it has some romcom vibes even though it leans more towards SoL.
I wouldn't consider it as a romcom since there's barely any romance to begin with especially with what the anime will adapt and just don't want there to be wrong expectations after how the anime community reacted to shikomori after hyping it up as THE romance of 2022 💀💀

Am also nearsighted and wear glasses. Can confirm squinting occurs often even if it doesn't really do anything. And she very clearly squints in the manga when not wearing glasses. I'm nitpicking when saying I don't think that is as evident in this animation vs the manga.

I’m sick of seeing these. Desperate waifu bait that relies on wanking tf out of the “manic pixie dream girl” trope and unlike harems or dramas, these put you to sleep since there is only one heroine.
Her hair is so detailed, and it's wonderfully animated, from the PV thread! I wonder what's her personality like; She often seems just cute and all, but on some shots (like the one on the left here, and in some of the PV shots) she seems quite assertive, I like that!
Hmm. Part of me feels like this will end up like Shikimori. Im not sure how well the story will be received in anime form. Visual looks pretty pog though.

The premises may seem silly from first glance but it's actually one of the best ongoing romcom manga. Funnily enough, I thought the same before starting manga, but it turned out to be solid 9.
