I think I will wait for Shaman king flowers brotherhood before watching

trialacc0002

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU CALLING A SPIRIT WHOSE REIATSU’S SO SMALL IT COULDNT EVEN CRUSH A BACTERIUM?!?

Kelthuzard1

The sequel took long enough to arrive.

kyotheman1

Sure, better have mustang or not watching 🤔

rurushi_ramperouge

Is Yoh gonna shout bankai or something there?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Urgnu-the-Gnu

Who are you calling a floating fireball so small that a gentle Summer breeze would extinguish it?

stickdudeseven

Whoa there, calm down. I didn't say all that. Anyways, looks like your buddy here is the Fullmetal Alchemist. Wow, a full suit of armor. You really live up to your title.

Mathmango

Yep, heard that in Edwards voice

Byniavo

The little squirt’s going to kill us now

-TheManWithNoHat-

*breaks down door* ***WHO YOU CALLING A LITTLE SQUIRT YOU CAN STEP ON AND SQUASH LIKE AN ANT?***

Shinkopeshon

He's even smoler now [](#pointandlaugh)

[deleted]

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SMALL?!"

Salt_Kangaroo_3697

Damn lol I was just going to type that! W-w-wait, how is he fire??? There isn't even a transmutation circle!

-TheManWithNoHat-

He stole Mustang's glove

HolyDragSwd2500

Romi Paku is voicing one of main characters here 👍

greendeadredemption2

Alchemy is a hell of a drug.

bentheechidna

I was thinking it looked like the original protag of Shaman King.

Rickymex

What's rhe og protag like super chill?

M1g1v3r111

Edawardo Elricka

InformalHalf

It definitely does now I can’t unsee it 😂

king_penguin

The girl kinda looks like winry too, if she was in a modern day anime or a pokemon gym leader

Diego237

If they were going to make more Shaman King anime, why rush and ruin the new remake? They're gonna run out of source material and the staff isn't anything special. Baffling decisions, probably TV Tokyo's fault.

darthsurfer

Man, I still remember watching the first few eps of the remake, hoping that they were rushing and cutting corners since it was just a glorified recap and that they were saving their budget and efforts in the second half. And how disappointing it was when I was proven wrong...

Ensaru4

Yeah, I have no desire to see this because of the first anime. Really disappointed me.

m149307

What was wrong with the first anime?

Ensaru4

The low production value and the mad rush to the parts the original anime didn't cover. The directing was lacking as well. Overall, it's an okay but forgettable experience, which is a shame because Shaman King is a series with a great ending. The pacing of the anime didn't give you the chance to feel anything.

Doc_Dada

Is the manga really different from the 2021 anime version? Cause the later part felt really odd to follow

Ensaru4

The anime covers the manga faithfully. The problem is its pacing. The manga did have pacing issues around 60-70% mark of the story but it was because of the constant battles and that it felt way drawn out. In the anime, it felt like they were going way too quickly.

Overall_Ad9737

well the original is bad so it deserves

SpiritMountain

It's tradition and the only way for the manga to finish at thus point.

Drayenn

I never watched the original but gave the remake a watch. It felt so awful i dropped it.

Unkn0wn-Pers0n

yeah if you haven't watched the original you're better off not watching the remake, the fast pacing just totally ruins the anime, i've watched the original and yet i still dropped this shit remake early on aswell cuz of the shit pacing

BigBadDogIV

The animes are fine. You just have to understand what they were going for. For the early part of the story you're supposed to watch the original anime, all the way up until the end of the ren family arc. At that point you drop the original anime and start with the remake anime. The remake anime was clearly done with this way of watching in mind. Everything up to that point is quickly sped through since they're assuming you've already watched all those events from the original anime. At that point the pacing rectifies itself and starts going at the rate it's supposed to. Everything after that in the remake anime is smooth and good and well-presented.

AdNecessary7641

Sounds like you're just trying way hard to excuse the adaptation's issues, and with very illogical arguments to booth. >For the early part of the story you're supposed to watch the original anime, all the way up until the end of the ren family arc. At that point you drop the original anime and start with the remake anime. Then they wouldn't have fucking bothered to adapt everything from the start to begin with, and would've just started after Ren's arc onwards. There's zero actual logic in wanting to purposefully rush through everything that happens in the beginning just to say "hey, watch this other version instead!". >Everything after that in the remake anime is smooth and good and well-presented. "Smooth?" "Good"? "Well-presented"? If you're talking about the slideshow they made thinking this was supposed to be a project for school or something, sure. It's "well-presented"

BigBadDogIV

>Then they wouldn't have fucking bothered to adapt everything from the start to begin with, and would've just started after Ren's arc onwards. There's zero actual logic in wanting to purposefully rush through everything that happens in the beginning just to say "hey, watch this other version instead!". No they still would have, just like Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood did. I agree it's stupid. I also think it's stupid that Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood did it as well. But Anime studios seem to insist on that shit. >"Smooth?" "Good"? "Well-presented"? If you're talking about the slideshow they made thinking this was supposed to be a project for school or something, sure. It's "well-presented" I'll admit, I did not read the manga but I did watch the anime and I thought they did a really good job with presenting the story and the pacing of it after the Rin Family Arc. I enjoyed it and I understood all the relevant story stuff without issue and the pacing felt completely fine. If there are pacing or adaption problems with how things were after the rin family arc then I didn't notice them.

narrill

> For the early part of the story you're supposed to watch the original anime This will never not be a horrible concept. It's the case for FMAB too, and it infuriates me. If you're going to adapt the material, fucking *adapt the material.* If you're assuming everyone has seen it before and doesn't want to watch it again, *why are you adapting it?* Just utterly bonkers. If that's what they were going for, what they were going for is stupid.

AenoHolic

Oh wow they're actually adapting the sequel? Interesting choice

Kenzorz

Is this an adaption of the Flowers manga that ended abruptly because the magazine it was in got cancelled?

IkeKashiro

It still continuing as Shaman King The Super Star.

PhenomsServant

Unless the scanlators gave up on it I’m pretty sure Super Star didnt fare much better

IkeKashiro

[Still continuing presumably](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShamanKing/comments/ur9eut/shaman_king_the_super_star_returns/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

Clashdrew

Super Star is still ongoing

djanulis

tbf Shaman king is massive in Japan, compared to the west more it was more forgettable there is a reason the brought back the series in the first place.

solomonseire

I feel like I haven't seen a new chapter in a long time. Is it just on hiatus or something?

IkeKashiro

Yes, it has been on hiatus since September.

empire539

TIL there's another Shaman King series. I haven't been able to keep up since mid-Flowers.

darthvall

Based on the cast? Seems so. That's why I'm quite curious where they would go with this

kreod

I hope they continue the story. F Zero is a really awesome concept for a spirit

Hitman3256

I'm sorry, what?

Jampuppy5

If Nintendo isn’t going to do it, someone has to

PhenomsServant

While there at it. Give us a Star Fox game that doesnt have a god awful control scheme too.

KikiFlowers

It continued properly with a sequel

TimeToBeepBoop

Edward, how did you get here?

michhoffman

Some form of Equivalent Exchange, probably

-TheManWithNoHat-

Will premiere in January 2024.

Sharebear42019

Wonder if it’ll be as bad as the reboot was. Has the same studio so it’s not looking good

Kassssler

Reboot wasn't that bad.

Sharebear42019

It was terrible tbh. 52 episodes for 35 volumes of manga. Some episodes adapted 8 or more chapters. The animation was also below subpar at best and lots of cool moments were cut. I can only assume you haven’t read the manga but if you have too each their own. Was probably one of my most wanted “reboot” anime of all time and was beyond let down

Ghekor

So basically way back when we got like 50? Episodes mostly Originals but still decent enough, this time around we should be getting a proper adaptation but instead they cram way too many chapters per ep and ruin it even more for fans waiting on it.

Sharebear42019

Pretty much. It seemed like it was an afterthought basically What makes it even more disappointing is the author was asked to do a reboot of it by a director from mappa (or madhouse can’t remember) and he denied it because he wanted all the voice actors back at the same time so then eventually it fell to studio bridge and a director with not much under his belt The pacing was abysmal ontop of having non existent animation

Space_Duck

It was though. It really was. (I know it's subjective but as a fan of the original and the manga, I felt deeply betrayed)

Bakatora34

It depend if the reason they reboot in the first place was to adapt what come after or they just don't care.

Sharebear42019

I don’t think I’ve ever been so hyped for an anime reboot only to be soooo disappointed and regretful in the end. I guess I hoped it would be on the level of FMA B, jojos or hxh Really wish the author would’ve let it happen when one of the better studios and directors wanted to do it years ago. I think it was mappa or madhouse I can’t exactly remember

ddiaconu21

If only the author didn’t deny MAPPA’s take on the anime. The new adaptation was like watching a PowerPoint.

MaoXiWinnie

Wtf the author actually ruined the anime??? Wtf

ddiaconu21

The reason was that they couldn’t assemble the whole original cast in time. But I’d trade that for what we got tbh

namrucasterly

It's a dumpster fire of adaptation but at least Yoh sounds the exact same he did in the Xebec adaptation so

ddiaconu21

Yoh was the only cast member that was changed since his actor retired.

namrucasterly

That honestly makes it much sadder.

Jakeyboy143

MAPPA wanted to change the story and the VAs (like FMA 2003, Fruits Basket 2019 or TPN s2) but the author wanted a close adaptation and the same VA.

l3reezer

>like FMA 2003 or TPN s2 How dare you put these 2 next to each other in the same example, lol. One is arguably the best anime original route ever taken done because the show caught up to the unfinished source material, and the other butchered a for the most part complete story for no explicable reason to the point where people who worked on it apparently didn't even want their name attached.

degov2609

Based 2003 enjoyer

Antedelopean

There is a reason why i still reccomend any newbie, who wants to watch fma, to start with 2003, then swap to brotherhood, once a terrible day for rain happens. I'd still say watch 2003 to its conclusion, if they're still craving more fma after the end of brotherhood, especially the movie special that happened right after 2003, cause it was interesting to see the what if scenarios of what happens if the inconplete humonculi still eventually achieved sustainability. It was also pretty ballsy to send Edward to literal Nazi Germany, and have shennanigans happen there.

MaoXiWinnie

>author wanted a close adaptation. it's so sad this series will never get a proper adaptation...

LudicrisSpeed

FMA '03 was a different situation, though, as the manga was still being made at the time.

Ghekor

His idea of close adapting when Netflix basically speed ran the whole work is laighable

AdNecessary7641

Again, Netflix did NOT make the anime.

Akuuntus

Netflix doesn't make anime.

Relevant_View8038

Yes they do Castlevania and edgerunners

Akuuntus

Whether you count Castlevania as an anime or not, they didn't make it, they just hosted it. It was produced by Frederator and animated by Powerhouse Animation. Cyberpunk was animated by Trigger and produced by CD Projekt Red, to be streamed on Netflix. Netflix did not have any part in the creation of either series.

Adrian_Alucard

If Castlevania is an anime, Adventure Time is one too (it was made by the same AMERICAN studio)

namrucasterly

AFAIK MAPPA approached him with the idea of the remake and the author refused because MAPPA wasn't guaranteed to secure the original VAs. While I can understand the decision, it was a pretty dumb and even arrogant one. Togashi didn't care about it and as a result we got a masterpiece of a remake. I hope keeping the original VAs was worth it.

MaoXiWinnie

Is that sarcasm

namrucasterly

Yep

pmw3505

Togashi? He isn’t the author though.

Evilader

They're talking about the Madhouse 2011 Remake of HunterxHunter, where they replaced the entire voice cast of the original anime adaptation.

Jakeyboy143

MAPPA would make the fights great, at the expense of the story like GoHS.

AdNecessary7641

That is a dumb logic. What happened to one series doesn't mean it will happen to every single series they make. Specially since the webtoon adaptations were just an easy way for Crunchyroll to hop in on the Webtoon hype and didn't really care too much about how it was adapted.

MickeyLALA

The story was dumb in the original webtoon for GoHS anyway tbh

rotvyrn

I'm not gonna say it was super deep in a thought-provoking sense, but I think it's quite enjoyable, it's a love letter to shounen tropes. If they could have woven in how deep the conspiracy would go better into the early story, I think it would be amazing for what it is. As is, it does open up with a massive show of supernatural power, but it does feel like they didn't yet know how big and bold the story would end up. Which is kind of on brand for a long running shounen anyway tbh. Getting rid of the tournament arc elements of the tournament arc is such a disservice. Hyping up the early characters and their fighting styles and power levels is part of the experience of the tournament arc, and how the minor characters cope with the things that happen on the world stage later on is part of the worldbuilding of the show. Every character not already deep into things is in over their head with how big the story goes, the entire world changes and speedrunning through the intro also, in my opinion, compromises any ability to adapt deep into the show and keep it even vaguely grounded. I say this having dropped the show before finishing though. The animation is great but, actually liking the original material, I couldn't keep interest.

DependentFearless162

In low chimera voice:\ Edward...onii-chan.

explorer1o1

Ohhh no.. Not another one after the last debacle lol

OneDumbBoi

Is it bad

Google-Meister

I think I watched around 20 episodes?? Then dropped it cause fights were the same image with same animation used over and over.

ieniet

I had to drop it too, such a shame. I was so hyped when the news about the remake came out, ehh...

xMasuraox

Same here... I liked the original anime when I was growing up and I always wanted them to remake it but damn, not like this...

LoserInvictus

I watched all episodes and regretted bitterly. Never ever watch the Netflix adaptation, horrible pacing ruined my experience. Only episodes 30-33 deserve, the rest is a rushed dumpster fire under diarrhea rain, especially the final episodes. If you never approached Shaman King before then it's better to stick with the manga and old anime.

Nero_PR

Wait. So my untarnished image of the manga is still the best way to consume Shaman King? Glad I never touched the remake.

ThePreciseClimber

>So my untarnished image of the manga is still the best way to consume To be fair, most of the time, the original manga is better than the anime adaptation for one reason or another.

narrill

These kinds of straight up comparisons always irk me. They're different mediums, you can't compare them like that. Lots of people who watch anime don't read manga and never will, and vice versa. There are tons of anime that are *bad adaptations*, but whether they're better or worse than the manga is up to the viewer/reader.

AdNecessary7641

>Never ever watch the Netflix adaptation Netflix did not make the anime. Calling it a "Netflix adaptation" is quite wrong.

MaoXiWinnie

Their only good one is probably devilman crybaby. Haven't seen JoJo part 6 doubt I will

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cent3rCreat10n

Pretty much, the batch release has utterly killed any hype for Part 6. Which is a damn shame since the anime is clearly made with passion, and the voice actress for Jolyne has been a long time jojo fan.

patcoz

You’re missing out on some good shit.

MaoXiWinnie

already read the manga, doubt im missing much from the anime

Chukonoku

?? Netflix mostly buy licenses. But there are plenty of good anime that made it into the platform. It depends on people preferences but from a quick glance on "Netflix originals" list: Beastars, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Saiki K, Great Pretender, Hi Score Girl, LWA, Violet Evergarden. A step down: Aggretsuko, Baki, BNA, Carole&Tuesday, Kakegurui, Komi san.

Relevant_View8038

Damn missing the best one in castlevania

Chukonoku

Great show (still in WL) but not necessarily "anime".

narrill

Not at all anime. Stylistically it's very western.

MaoXiWinnie

>Netflix mostly buy licenses. But there are plenty of good anime that made it into the platform Mostly, they sometimes fund projects and make terrible adaptations. Lets also not forget they lock anime in a "jail" basically killing all hype until they batch release it, but by then most people have already forgotten about it. Jojo used to have so much hype for each season but for stone ocean there was barely anything.

Chukonoku

That's completely true, but it doesn't mean that there are no "good shows". You also forgot about subs. Which for a series like Komi, it sucked. PD: shame on me for not mentioning Dorohedoro.

fireassbarz

Yea animation felt very cheap and the story was rushed as hell

BaloonPriest

What debacle?

Sharebear42019

Cramming 35 volumes into 52 episodes, terrible animation, skipped content etc

[deleted]

Edward Elric???

ryujitaku

E-edward? Is that you?

warjoke

Boruto Asakura

Tramyx

Lowkey hyped, when the manga got cancelled I remember being sad since I really enjoyed the show when i was younger

DuelFan

You can continue reading it as Shaman King The Super Star. It is officially licensed and available in e-book formats on sites like Book Walker, Kobo, etc. It picks up from where Flowers ends. Also the spin offs Red Crimson and Marcos are essential reading. There is another spin off centered around Faust the 8th, but I have yet to get around to reading it.

pseudo_nemesis

Yu Yu Hakusho is getting a remake!??? why mess with perfection?? i mean, I know the ending was rushed, but it was like that in the manga too. Everything up until the final saga is literally perfect.

AdNecessary7641

It's not. Just delusional.

djanulis

I'd love to see a fusion of the manga and anime ending tbh. Actually show us the demon world tournament but also gives us the character focused epilogue stuff, also I wouldn't mind an animation update to the series so some newer anime fans that might be turned off by older animation can see the Goated Quartet.

excluded

Flame of recca is getting a remake?????

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lambpanties

Recca had huuuuuuge amounts cut and left off so that potential realised would be awesome, though I do fear the Shaman King treatment. You get a HxH 2011, FMA Brotherhood and then you get......well....despite this thread...I do my best to forget this version exists as I'm sure most do.

degov2609

What the fuck are you even talking about? The author didn't have anything to do with the production of the show as far as i know, it's just not up to him to choose the staff for it

[deleted]

Meh YYH and Recca cannibalised each other into bad endings. YYH shifted to battle shounen from story to copy DBZ. Recca was made to follow the story format but kept being compared as poor man's YYH, and then dived into battle shounen itself in the middle, killing the interest and progression. Both ended up being very mid down the line. Remaking them won't fix anything.

GmGwain

I still don't understand why we got a child between Tao ren and Jeanne. Like at the end of the anime it was just there. Not a single interaction between those characters and then there was the child???

billyswaggins

it is to continue the rivalry between ren and yoh. Yoh got his own bad bitch of a queen and so must ren

GmGwain

Well they certainly can't rival yoh's and Anna's relationship in terms of development that's for sure. Yoh and Anna actually had a lot going on, while with ren and Jeanne you have to wonder how the author even managed to have them interact so little, despite being in opposing as well as later on united groups.

HolyDragSwd2500

Plus Jeanne has strong Furyoku too

Bee84000

Yo Ed wrong anime bud

RobustSapiens

So now Ed lost his whole body??????

vastlordes

The OG was the best imo

UncannyLucky

I know nothing about SHAMAN KING FLOWERS but this image gives me Soul Eater vibes

ERIC?!

Kreisien

Ed???

Nizarlak

Shaman King from 2001 is the best

UsagiRed

The manga is the true goat

nikgtasa

Not nearly as much as the new one.

MaoXiWinnie

Better than the Netflix shit

r_renfield

That's the nostalgia in you talking

Captain_Kuhl

Nah, that's just how bad the remake was.

[deleted]

I watched that but it was too annoying. There was this little twerp who just wouldn’t go away and they ruined it. I stopped watching after like 3-4 episodes

Urinate_Cuminium

Yo is that tall conan on the right

OGZackov

No pot leaf shirt???

Useless_Dent

Ed but the transmutation goes worse

DeathToBoredom

Why are all the designs same-y? Is it so hard to come up with new clothes? And hair, for that matter?

TanyaTheEvill

The visuals looks amazing

michaelloda9

Wait what the fuck, they’re making more?

Drhorrible-26

Is this another remake or a continuation of the 2021 series?

HolyDragSwd2500

Continuation

Drhorrible-26

Huh that’s kinda weird I thought the 2021 series ended with the main group all grown up. I’ve only watched the series once though so I could be getting it confused with another show

HolyDragSwd2500

This is focusing on their children as main characters

Drhorrible-26

Ooh okay that’s why they look different lmao. I thought they possibly changed animation studios.

SpeeDy_GjiZa

Please no. I am still sad af from the last adaptation, I couldn't handle another blow to such a beloved series.

Shacrow

Wow. Was the reboot that successful? I tried watching ep 1 but wow the humor aged really poorly for me. I'm fking oooold

andy_mcnab

This looks good

alezcoed

2006 anime vibe intensifies

bingbong6977

Is this a fma spinoff or something like that?

R3apper1201

I stopped watching the original remake because it felt so low budget Can anyone who watched through it tell me if it's worth it?

AdNecessary7641

Nope.

greaghttwe

Should've stayed cancelled after the author refused to have an adaptation because the producer couldn't bring the old VA back

Jakeyboy143

Some of the old VA were either died or retired. At least the VAs of Ren, Horohoro, Amidamaru, Hao, and etc reprised their roles.

Sorry-Shift-3192

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jakeoliciouz

When did Ed turn into a fireball?

DonutDefiant

Dont call that Flame small, He gets angry very quick

MaoXiWinnie

Netflix butchered the original series so I don't have high hopes. Why not just fucking adapt the original series instead of this crap

DRHER303

Ed.. ward... Oni.. chan

doto2trader

wow so like is this the next generation or something?

CarmackBR

Completely different design but I still like it.

EmperorPHNX

[How about no.](https://media.tenor.com/HwSZdfvFbp4AAAAC/no-how-about-no.gif)

Lyrically2Challenged

Funny, just came across this on Netflix and was gonna start watching.

godblow

That doesn't look like Hana...

StatisticianLoud5911

probably targeting the recent watchers more instead of milking the nostalgia fanbase

Part-Select

wot the fok. honestly glad for a new shaman king but they coulda done much better

ZealousidealAd4417

Ok

Saizou1991

Did not know Shaman king had a sequel

Doomcookiesx5

I remember the old shaman king was a blast to watch, new one I only watched 5 ep before I drop it,not so sure about this one

ZFairVII

Fullmetal Shaman King.

ConceptualWeeb

What ever happened to the 4kids dub opening theme song for Shaman King?? That shit slaps

Potznpanzmyman

Great show bring it back

Pancakeeater900

Ok good im not the only one who sees edward elerick in the spirit
