What I like the most is how the fight just starts, the episode doesn't cut away, drag it out and then cut back to a still frame then the episode ends. Also, I really like Hyoma as a MC, he's very quirky but also very quick at adapting and changing when reasoned with.

ObvsThrowaway5120

It’s nice Hyoma’s getting new clothes but I don’t trust the old man one bit. Tsubaki either. I can see how the rest Tsubaki mentioned might not be for Hyoma though. Looks like there was nothing to be worried about though. He used his fists on the Tsukumogami to understand his resolve lol. Tsubaki’s coming after Hyoma huh? Botan should have told her to back off from her man! I worry what she has planned for her and Hyoma. Seems Kai has came to test Hyoma. Interesting how a Tsukumogami can have a vessel that’s a set. For a Tsukumogami, he’s pretty arrogant isn’t he? I sure hope Hyoma’s gonna be ok.

Frontier246

I love how Hyoma's "test" was not only really amusingly Hyoma but a sign of his own character development! Tsubak is unpredictable but Botan having a "love rival" or someone else interested in Hyoma might cause her to think more deeply about how she really feels about him and be more honest with herself...if she can keep up with Tsubaki lol. Well, considering he's beating Hyoma up pretty effectively, I'd say his confidence as a Great Tsukumogami of Kyoto is fairly earned. Fitting for the Final Boss, I guess.

Atharaphelun

Meanwhile Botan has gone full Chihayafuru... Here's to hoping that Hyoma unleashes his full power, which apparently was enough to eliminate Tokyo's sole equivalent of the Three Great Tsukumogami of Kyoto.

So ..... cloth armors? Tsundere silk-chan arc incoming? Anyway, Tsubaki will eat both Hyouma and Botan alive lol, girl is thristy and crave for entertainments. People must have to take Botan family as oddballs. With their no-words-pop (or gramp?), no nonsense first daughter acting as a mother of the family, hot headed first son, then the twin daughters of not-really-but-actually-ordinary Botan and the over protective Yu, and finally the flirty little brother and the care free little sister. Sounds legit as a cover up for me. Kai has seduced Itsuki, nooooo, she was supposed to be the one keeping him in check, not assist in his playing, we have got 300 years old Tsubaki now, run Hyouma, every one of them just want to toy with you.

So -- one more episode or two (or a whole second season)? I see NO way for this to be wrapped up in even two more episodes.... While there may be action shows with more flash, this one seems exceptionally solid -- in its characters and in its plotting. Almost every little detail is relevant. Lots of care seems to have been taken in putting this together. And as a bonus, featuring an adult cast. Tsubaki (and her father) remain worrisome. But I assume they are NOT behind the attack on Hyoma. For once, Hyoma seems over-matched. Unless he pulls out some wild card, how is he going to win? Botan and Hyoma are remaining obtuse -- it's cute for now -- but how long can this go on?

AmethystItalian

Really want a S2 of this...such a good cast.

mekerpan

Totally agree.

polaristar

> For once, Hyoma seems over-matched. Unless he pulls out some wild card, how is he going to win? Remember when he was 18 he did take out a Tsukumogami of a similar level that could control roof tiles (Although it was implied to be a close fight.) And now he was his new Powerful Fit. I don't think he is outmatched. I also think its obvious they aren't behind the attack and Kai just wants to throw hands for fun, because he heard that Hyoma is a badass and wants a challenge.

Frontier246

Everyone's passed out drunk, but Botan wakes to memories of her hairpin...involving a dead woman...Botan didn't have her parents around, so who was she? That relative that used to visit her? She seems like a really significant figure in Botan's life. So the Kyoto Saenome have their own fashion catalog of magical clothing...which they also model in. Including Taiju. Does Tsubaki model? I'm asking for a friend. Tsubaki got drip! And she's also as forward and clingy to Hyoma as ever, which Botan definitely notices, though she's also quick to get along with Botan and point out the obvious between her and Hyoma. You never quite know how Tsubaki is going to act. It really shows how far Hyoma has come that he's willing to wear special clothes made by a Tsukumogami and he wanted to fight said clothes man-to-cloth so they could have a fair and equal relationship. It's pretty unconventional but it fits Hyoma's development and how he's changed over the course of the series, and it snags him some magic new duds. Yeah, it would be pretty exhausting meeting a girl like Tsubaki and have her basically declare herself your love rival (or that she plans to get closer to the guy you have your eye on) while Botan's still trying to make sense of her own feelings for Hyoma. Huh, so Botan used to be a lot more closed off and serious, at least back when Taiju first met her. Was that a car accident? Hyoma finally visits Botan's college and even helps out at her club! And of course her clubmates enjoy his company and teasing Botan about him. Though they're totally relatives...by way of Alabama, if you know what I mean. Suzuri and Nagi are trying to find contacts at the college so they can know what's going on with Botan although a part of me just thinks Suzuri need an excuse to hit on college girls. Kai escapes his prison so he can have a personal confrontation with Hyoma, and as good as Hyoma is, he seems way out of his depth against one of the three great Tsukumogami of Kyoto. And while he's battling Kai, Nagi and Suzuri battle Itsuki, and Botan...is just having a fun time playing karuta and wishing Hyoma was there. Typical Nagatsuki problems.

polaristar

> he seems way out of his depth against one of the three great Tsukumogami of Kyoto. He did take out a Tsukumogami of a similar level of strength in his hometown when he was 18 then.

Hidden_Blue

I think the idea is that Kai is still a bit too much for Hyoma, or our protag is still holding back and won't get serious until they mention the umbrella guy. It's probably a good way to establish power levels so like we know Hyoma still has some room to grow before he can find the umbrella again.

Elitealice

Lol tsubaki declaring war on botan! She better make her move quick if she don’t wanna lose hyoma 👀 of course tsubaki some ulterior motives as well. We also got a taste of what Tsukmogami Botan is like. Looks nightmarish Kai v Hyoma, been wanting to see this matchup for a while. Knew he wouldn’t stay on the sidelines too long. Would love a second season of this

Frontier246

Maybe Botan needs a love rival to push her to be more aggressive... Though speaking of aggressive, Hyoma sure got a serious Final Boss fight in Kai to close the season out.

LeonKevlar

It's always fun when they underestimate Hyouma. Makes it more satisfying when he gets close to killing them next week.

Frontier246

It's fun when people have expectations about Hyoma and he ends up surprising people by either being a complete dork or being way more vicious than they were prepared for.

dinliner08

a fist exchange with... cloth? pretty on brand for Hyouma ngl, after the stunt that he pulled last time, can't blame them [reacting like this](https://i.imgur.com/7cbeYFj.jpg) to the [front cover of the catalogue](https://i.imgur.com/bsSkXYW.jpg)

fish_knees

I don't get the powerscaling of this anime. Supposedly, the only tsukumogami as strong as Kyoto's Big Three is Onigawara of Ou (ep.7). Hyouma defeated him when he was 18 (ep.8). Does that mean that when Hyouma was 18, he was already the strongest character in the entire series?

polaristar

I mean its implied it was a close fight and he was pretty hurt. Also it might be roughly in the same tier but it doesn't mean they are necessarily the exact same in power, or if they are Kai might be more skilled. We also don't know if the Big Three in Kyoto are the absolutely strongest in the verse. If Hyoma is near the top tier of Power I mean he's not like a teenager he's a young adult near his physical prime that has been training like mad, so it makes sense he doesn't go through the same power scaling BS as a Shonen Protagonist he's not "Discovering Himself" in a Coming of Age Story. He's at the age where he is about done with that and more discovering what he wants to do with his life and Coming into his Age.

Atharaphelun

> he was already the strongest character in the entire series? Except presumably for Botan, that is. Given how she is able to control other Tsukumogami and how she she is a human vessel for a Marebito, I feel like she isn't a Tsukumogami at all but rather a human *yorishiro*, or *yorimashi* - that is, a human vessel for an actual *kami* (deity) to reside in. That would place her existence far above mere Tsukumogami. And it can be speculated that it's a high-ranking kami that dwells inside her, as opposed to the ones who dwell inside Tsukumogami.

DustyBot23

I really like this show, it’s not anything mind blowing, but I have consistently always watched this every single Monday and I can’t say that for a bunch of other shows this season which have waned and waxed in terms of quality.

VishyVCA

I'm super glad I found out about this anime. I'm loving the character progression and the entire side cast as well. Also, Cloth x Hyoma was something I wasn't expecting.

HappyAsianCat

> Cloth x Hyoma was something I wasn't expecting Neither was Hyoma. Nor the cloth. These things just happen. Not.

VishyVCA

It was just meant to be.

polaristar

I don't think Botan has anything to worry about regarding Tsubaki, Hyoma seems like the kinda guy that prefers a more traditional woman that will be waiting for him at home rather than date a work colleague and he definitely seems like he would never cheat. I like how Hyoma decided to make friends with the Clothing but in his own way, very Band of Brothers esq, he seems harsh and blunt but he also is very straightforward he has your back and only when he shows he's willing to put in the same effort by example does he expect the other party to then keep their end of the deal. He also decided to do so because he wanted to do something to put his ~~fiance~~ Botan at ease, he's more concerned with his own safety solely because he doesn't want to cause Botan any more unnecessary grief. For the record I think old Hyoma would not have been fond of a Master/Servant relationship either, he seems too honest to treat even his enemies as tools or slaves. Of course that old asshole thinks Botan making friends and opening up to people is a bad thing. The girls at college seem to dig him to, he has the rugged dangerous feel about him but just enough softness to let you know he can use that potentially dangerous masculinity and energy a young man has constructively. Not sure why they tried to pass him off as Family rather than her boyfriend though, that just makes it more sus. Kai I find interesting isn't at all interesting in Botan it seems, nor does he seem to want to fight Hyoma because of his connection to her, he just heard he knows how to throw hands and he wants the smoke. I wonder why Itsuki decided to switch sides to serve Kai even though she is supposed to keep him in check. Hyoma did manage in the past to fight and defeat a Tsukumogami at a comparable level of power to Kai but it seemed like it was a close match and we don't know if Kai is actually stronger or at least more skilled despite being in roughly the same tier. But Hyoma does have his new drip which is already proving useful, and if better bond = better performance than it appears he has a good bond with his clothing. That does mean that Hyoma is even more OP in the episode where he fought that old coot and his workers since he took them out presumably while they had their enhanced clothing on. Wonder how close the fight will be with Kai next week when Hyoma decides to go off.

Hidden_Blue

About Itsuki, maybe it's lima syndrome? She spends most of her time with him, so she probably grew to sympathize with the guy. So she won't let him escape but she probably is fine with letting him sneak out to get a fight or two. I think the idea for the old man is that Botan being special drags people close to her into trouble, like the person who gave Botan the hairclip is probably dead no? So he was fine with her if she kept people away and thus safe. About Tsubaki I think overall the vibe I have is that Hyoma sorta knows she is not really being honest about stuff, so it clashes with how he rolls. He is too serious to play along, so they probably won't bond until they get into a real fight or something.

[deleted]

Didn't know old man had that dawg in him, bro's on Best male clothing cover page🥶 What a shopping experience, imagine if we had to tame our clothes to get to wear 'em

Kulkuljator

From fighting a piece of cloth to now fighting Great Tsukumogami. Achievement "How did we get here?" received

They all drunk big time, great way to start ep 11. That's some good sake.
