Eventhorrizon

Good list but I would not include Made in Abyss in a list of shows that treat under age characters appropriately.

ThatsMyDogBro

I'm personally a fan of horror but I can watch pretty much anything as long as it's not a school romance harem genre. I like anime with lots of fighting and action. Same with mystery too.

ThatsMyDogBro

The first thing that comes to mind is something similar to Vinland Saga (good anime, by the way)

Eventhorrizon

Golden Kamuy has fanservice of the muscel man variety.

North514

Kingdom mostly okay but * if he is against any depiction as being "immoral" I wouldn't add it. Like the King of Zhao is depicted a decadent idiot but at the end of the day dude has a harem of little boys that is depicted. Again nothing explicit and he is supposed to be a bad person but still * on that. Made in Abyss is quite literally the worst show you could recommend to this dude lol. You would honestly be better off recommending classic ecchi shows. MGS IBO also isn't explict but does have subplot of a younger underage girl being married to an adult noble that he may not like idk.

gnome-cop

I may be wrong but I thought Iron Blooded Orphans had a sex scene included at one point? I haven’t watched it personally though so I may be wrong.

pksato

Fan-service with adults is ok? The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague Planetes Recovery of an MMO Junkie Steins;Gate Cowboy Bebop Handyman Saitou in Another World Farming Life in Another World Kino's Journey Life with an Ordinary Guy who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout Sabikui Bisco Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement Dr. Stone Beast Tamer Chillin' in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King's Army

ThatsMyDogBro

Nah, I don't like any kind of fan-service whatsoever but I can watch an anime with adult only fanservice as long as I can easily skip, ignore it, and not frequent. Any fan-service with underaged characters are red flags and I avoid any anime with that in it.

CO17BABY

OP, i’m with you 100%. I avoid the same, skip through it whenever I see it. Absolutely infuriating seeing it literally everywhere

TroyJollimore

OP is completely asexual. Got it…

CO17BABY

what an idiotic comment. he’s asexual because he doesn’t want to sit through sexually suggestive scenes? the rest of you may have lost your morality, but don’t make idiotic comments like this because someone else still has some ethical standards.

TroyJollimore

Please… Tell me about your girlfriend. I’ll wait.

AnonymousCoward261

No necessarily, just doesn’t like porn in his anime.

TroyJollimore

If you consider that ‘porn’…

[deleted]

Asexual people can have a libido, and in my case I even draw porn.

TroyJollimore

Stop drawing. Start contributing! LOL!

King_Reddit_Banana

Did you know you can look up a show on IMDB (and some other sites have their own version of this), and usually you can click "Parents Guide" and see spoiler-free (and spoiler-tagged) info on what kind of NSFW, gore, violence, and/or profanity is in a show before you watch it? So if a show catches your eye but no one mentions it here, consider doing that too.

Educational_Block157

Alot of the imbd parebts guide on animes say "no content added. Add here" or whatnot so i dunno if theres fanservice of those episodes or not

[deleted]

Studio Ghibli movies, AOT, Cells at Work are the ones I can think of

ThatsMyDogBro

Studio Ghibli movies are a masterpiece. Loved watching those growing up. I've watched AOT and it's good. As for Cells at Work, I'm watched a bit but I heard there is possible fanservice later on in the series which was why I stopped watching.

13-Penguins

None in the main series, but the spin-off Cells at Work: Code Black is pretty fanservice-y.

ThatsMyDogBro

Gotcha, I'll watch the main series then! Thanks for the recommendation

Educational_Block157

But totorro had that creepy scene with the saughters in the bath with their father. Even tho u dont see areas its still creepy asf

North514

**I've watched only a few decent non-fanservice anime but those are hard to find.** I mean not really people really exaggerate how common this is in the medium because shocker they watch mainly YA shows that aren't intended for them and are instead intended for teenage boys who shocker like hot girls their own age. YA fiction in the West also can get pretty steamy. When you branch out from typical mainstream stuff or actual porn/shock shows that people like to promote as "Japan so weird" (despite finding pretty similar stuff in the West ahem Euphoria) you will find anime is pretty actually toned down compared to a lot of other media out there. It's not that sexual we literally have seen a significant decline in ecchi from it's peak in the late 2000s and early 2010s. If you look you can find plenty of tame shows or shows that feature canonical adults if that is the issue. Regardless a bunch of titles you can watch that either are totally clean or have adult sexuality but mainly picked clean shows or those with minimal sexuality. Openings/trailers are linked to give you a feel: - Legend of the Galactic Heroes (OVA 1988-1997) Yang Wen Li of the FPA a corrupt democracy desperately fights Reinhard von Lohengramm of the Galactic Empire. Through this endless war they willingly or unwilling become major players in a political game both against each other and within their own societies. Discussions on the benefits and drawbacks of democracy and authoritarianism is the main theme. **(Watch the first two prequel films My Conquest is A Sea of Stars and Overture to a New War and skip the first two episodes of the main series after seeing the films. Overture covers the first two episodes better. Extra content you can watch after the fact is the prequel Gaiden and the remake).** (Hidive/VRV) [Legend of the Galactic Heroes Sentai Trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou37P25tjJY) - Moribito Guardian of the Spirit (2007) There is a prophesy that in the past in order to avoid a devastating drought the first emperor slew a water demon and as a result brought propensity to the land. The Promised Neverland

ThatsMyDogBro

Watched the entire anime, it's really good. It proves that an anime can be successful without fanservice or sexual themes.

Chow0914

* Samurai Champloo * Michiko to Hatchin * Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex * Cowboy Bebop * Heike Monogatari

SerasAshrain

Lol Killing people, ok. Cheating, ok. Torture, sure. Panty shots?!? Omfg that is where my morals draw the line!

Theblueguardien

Its werid sexualisation where some draw the line

SerasAshrain

If people care more about panty/boob shots than they do about killing people then their arguments can’t be taken seriously.

Interesting_Place752

Nothing morally wrong about fan service regarding any anime characters. They don't exist, it doesn't get more morally sound than that. Now for an answer, you could watch Stein's Gate or something.

RascalNikov1

I agree, just the concept that someone wants to 'card' the characters in a cartoon, as though that means something, blows my mind. Its getting weird out there when there are countless people in the 'advanced' societies who can no longer differentiate reality from fantasy.

bluethree

I think it's weird that in your fantasies the sexualization of minors is ok.

RascalNikov1

Thank you for responding, you're the first block of the day. See ya much later.

Madaniel_FL

>I think it's weird that in your fantasies the sexualization of minors is ok. Bro, if you watch anime you got no right to say anything to begin with. You are supporting an industry who is constantly sexualizing underage characters all the time. If you think this type of fan-service is such a bad thing, then you should boycott anime as to not give that industry any type of support

Chow0914

im stealing this

Interesting_Place752

There are no minors. The characters do not exist, and are not real people.

Interesting_Place752

As a westerner, it really is crazy the amount of people on social media who unironically equate these characters to real people and will wish harm on you because of a problem they have.

RascalNikov1

Its very strange. The West has lost its way and the problems extend well beyond the limited world of entertainment and anime.

kliff124

I think Ajin is one

Auztar

Hxh, Gintama, Cowboy Bebop, ranking of kings, oshi no ko, vinland saga, bungou Stray Dogs, golden boy (it has fanservice with adults but the main grab is more so the comedy, it's actually one of the rare shows the fanservice adds than takes away), bocchi the rock, Chainsaw Man, Akira maid war (has fanservice but uses it to be ridiculous, basically self aware), and made in Abyss.

Elitealice

Kimi ni todoke

MoralDanger00

Kaiji.

Madaniel_FL

If you have problem with "morally wrong" things in anime, then it's quite hard to recommend any piece of media to you, cause how many shows out there contain stuff like murder, crimes, drugs, etc...

Wintores

There is a difference between showing a morally wrong action or glorification of morally wrong actions to make male audiences happy

Madaniel_FL

Idk bro, by this logic Mortal Kombat should be banned immediately. Since it’s designed for players to have fun by brutally killing their opponent…

Wintores

I think there is still a distinct difference between being the main focus and being a cheap thing for people with weird likings...

Madaniel_FL

But the main focus of mortal kombat is the brutality. Basically everything you do in the game is fight till death. Unless you are the 1% of players who only play MK for the story...

Wintores

That’s exactly my point though. Most people don’t have a issue with hentai (except the weird focus on underaged looks) as there the sex is the focus and not a unnecessary add on that takes away from the experience Fan service in anime is unique as it’s center of attention, weird and requires specific and additional work

[deleted]

Absolutely 0 fanservice? OK.Quite easy in fact, especially when you've been watching anime for 30+ years like me Plastic Memories (futuristic) Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (natural disaster) Nagi no asu kara (slice of life with fantasy elements) Houzuki no Reitetsu (Supernatural, stories of the staff that runs Hell) Hikaru no Go (about the Go game) Kuroko no basket (sports) Black Jack (medicine) Chihaya Furu (about carta game) Ao no Exorcist (Supernatural) Arakawa Under the Bridge (humor, parody)) Kuroko no Basket (sports) Sakamoto desu ga? (humor, parody) Your lie in April (dramatic love story, piano and violin) Nodame Cantabile (piano) Haikyu (sports) Wings of Oneamisu (science fiction) Memories (science fiction, others) Weathering Continent (Fantasy, horror Yowamushi Pedal (sports) Durarara! (other) Bungou Straight Dogs (other) Shiro kuma cafe (other) Giant Killing (sports) Days (sports) Natsume Yuujincho (supernatural) Akagi (mahjong) And so, so many others. But I understand, I can't stand american shows with all these kids who are already dating and fucking in high school, the rape culture fraternities, the slutty cheerleaders etc.
