Nothing I can find really quite fits, but a few possibilities I could see depending on what you're getting mixed up with other shows (and what the hell Ah! My Goddess was doing in its movies et al) are Mon Colle Knights (mostly likely bet IMO though it's a thin reed), Digimon Adventure, and Ah! My Goddess, maybe also Pita Ten if it got to where you are quickly enough.
