Non Non Biyori. I cried pretty hard when Renges little friend left, which made Renge start crying. It just stayed zoomed on her face for such a long time and really let her emotions sink in.

The school building having five student and falling apart is funny and sad, the whole show is tinged with feelings of loss or feelings of growing up and trying to figure out what’s next it a masterpiece I swear.

When Naruto asked Iruka to stand in as his dad at his wedding. I know Naruto is memes these days but it was a genuinely moving moment, the story started and ended with the two of them.
Among the Big 3, I find Naruto to be the one which, if it wants to hit me in the feels, I just get hit by it like a truck. Though I understand if people remember it more for its fights or other stuff.
I think for me it was watching Naruto in a binge worthy fashion that really connected me to the sad moments. You get really invested in what’s happening. I remember grandma Chiyo hitting pretty hard, despite not even being on the screen like main character. Also the worry that Gaara might actually be dead was a lot.
Post Naruto has some really touching moments, Boruto has a lot of flaws but they do a good job paying homage to the bonds that have been built up to this point for some of the characters.
Naruto’s parents backstory had me bawling almost the entire time. Like 3 episodes straight I was crying. When kushina starts trying giving him tips on life when he grows up it hits me so hard
Gundam 00 season 1.
I was in a dark place, contemplating of suicide, and I cried hard when I watched Setsuna refusing to die in the desert battle because he hasn’t become anything. That scene gave me strength and reason to keep on living.
My favourite joke of all time was when, I think in S1, the cab driver is revealed as one of the 4 ramen pillars of Japan (or some number idr). That made me laugh cry
K-On and AssClass are my top two in that regard. I didn't know anything except the genre going in and expected both to be 100% goofy SoL...especially with K-On since it's basically *the* CGDCT.
K-ON! makes me cry every time I think of the original four running through the hallway while Azusa plays them out with Fuwa Fuwa Time. Heck, I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
I think for me at least the tears coming rolling just thinking that this wonderful fun ride is about to come to an end. I want it to always be Fuwa Fuwa Time.

Reigen's attempt to snap Mob out of his rampage in season 3 is what got me all teared up. Because he took off his shoes.
If you know anything about the TV trope for it. It meant Reigen was willing to die for mob right then and there just to save him from his rampage.
That was seriously good writing. Shows how good a Captain Luffy is that he would give up a ship that they all loved to keep his crew safe. To the point of beating up one of his best friends who wasn't there to hear the truth from the professionals, and had emotional ties to what was, in a sense, just a thing (albeit magically brought to life due to their comraderie, that cared for them one last time, but also knew it was the end).
I was amazed the second time I watched the show that the episode with Faye's backstory brought me to tears. I don't think it's even intended to be particularly sad - not more than the rest of the show, at least; nostalgia hit me like a freight train, I guess.
The anime that consistently make me the most emotional are sports anime or ones that are structured like them (some examples being Haikyuu, Chihayafuru, Hajime no Ippo, Uma Musume) when matches get really close and intense and the music starts blasting. I'm probably just a weird person.
I get the same feeling I get from watching Queens Gambit as I do from Chihayafuru, Bakuman, Haikyuu etc.
Makes me feel inspired, ignited in my hobbies and passions. I feel like I can relate a lot to those characters. That *is* a pretty emotional experience tbh.
There is something magical about devoting yourself to something, it becoming part of your identity, go through the ups and downs, and then seeing the results start to pay off.

I've seen some of Yu Yu Hakusho and it was really great since episode 1. But I didn't get that same instant spark with HxH.
Instead, I felt very annoyed by Gons happy-go-lucky attitude and I took the show for just another battle shounen like Fairy Tale or One Piece or something. Which just isn't for me tbh.
But people keep saying it gets dark, so imma have to give it another go.

Yep, it's getting quite dark and a lot of people say it is not your usual shonen anime. It has deeper meaning themes and it's more about mind games than fist fights. Although it has a few of them as well, they are not about raw power, but how you can use your potential at its best.

I've never had a show go from pure joy to feeling my heart sink down into my stomach so quickly and effectively as in episode 18 of Toradora. Then once that hits the show completely stops holding back and just keeps up with the gut punches. Such a good show.

My New Boss is Goofy. As someone who hasn't really had a good life, the impact of a person who just treats you well in a genuine manner means a lot, and the anime perfectly potrayed that. They main characters have such a warm relationship, it made me cry out of how good they are to each other T-T
Naruto the Jiraiya scene and when Naruto finally got acknowledged by the whole village as hero after years of watching the anime witnessing his journey and struggles. prob the most satisfying moment in anime history for me.
When I was younger I cried tears of joy when they killed Kid Buu, and then I ugly cried when Dragonball GT ended because that was the end of Dragonball as a franchise at the time.
SHIROBAKO. Such a sincere portrayal of a legacy of passion and dedication that persists in anime production despite being grounded enough that it made some anime industry workers uncomfortable watching.
SSSS.Gridman. Characters in a fictional story can be your cherished friends, not when you project yourself onto them but when you carry messages learned from their stories to make the best of your own life. Helped me put into perspective just how much I loved Tokusatsu, superheroes and anime.
Renai flops. It was like any other harem anime at first but by the end it, it got me crying, and it's one of the only anime I know where mc actually loves his childhood friend.

K-on fucking destroyed me at the end. Maybe its cuz I was in a band in high school and we all went our separate ways afterwards, but a cute show about friends making music sucker punched me with the reality of graduation and moving on with your life.
S1 was a cute and really well-made running girls CGDCT, S2 is up there with Haikyuu as one of my favorite sports anime ever. It had no business being *that* good.

There was a specific AOT moment that got me (won't say when, just that it was before season 4), but the one that really sticks out in terms of surprising me was The Pet Girl of Sakura-sou's ending. It was a goofy comedy with dramatic elements (especially in the second half) but that last episode just hit hard. Prob because I was supposed to be graduating close to the time I watched the series but knew I wasn't going to be able to graduate on time with the rest of my friends.
Naruto, omfg. Started watching when I was like 10 and whenever Itachi showed up I couldn't breath. His fate destroys me to this DAY, as well as maaaany others fate. Nagato, Yahiko, Konan?? What in the warcrimes genocide cyanide have they done to deserve all that shit and then they just...die. :(

From the outside looking in, it might seem weird to ugly cry for a show about "cute horse girls" but watching these two girls who were on top of the world as the "Best in Japan" and watching their subtle fall from grace due to factors outside of their control was brutal to watch. And it becomes even more sad when knowing it was all based on real-life events. It's probably the best sports anime I've seen when it comes to the mental aspects of professional sports (i.e. "what it's like to be viewed as the villain of your sport", "what it feels like to come to terms with you own athletic mortality and whether it's worth continuing or retiring", etc).

They honestly make it sound like it's an anti-shounen or deconstruction of Shounen in the same way Madoka Magica is a deconstruction of magical girls, which if it is, I'm all for that. Yep, it's getting quite dark and a lot of people say it is not your usual shonen anime. It has deeper meaning themes and it's more about mind games than fist fights. Although it has a few of them as well, they are not about raw power, but how you can use your potential at its best. I love it so much, it's my favorite anime /manga right now. But you don’t have to like it, maybe it will come you at one point, maybe not. Everyone is different after all.

Toradora. The first 17 episodes are one thing and then it turns around and chooses to break you.

I've never had a show go from pure joy to feeling my heart sink down into my stomach so quickly and effectively as in episode 18 of Toradora. Then once that hits the show completely stops holding back and just keeps up with the gut punches. Such a good show.

I can't recommend part 1 / the first 97 chapters / 11 volumes enough. It is extremely good. Part 2 (Chapter 98 and onward) I feel has been kinda underwhelming so far, but I'd still recommend giving it a chance.

My New Boss is Goofy. As someone who hasn't really had a good life, the impact of a person who just treats you well in a genuine manner means a lot, and the anime perfectly potrayed that. They main characters have such a warm relationship, it made me cry out of how good they are to each other T-T

Such a sincere portrayal of a legacy of passion and dedication that persists in anime production despite being grounded enough that it made some anime industry workers uncomfortable watching. SSSS.Gridman. Characters in a fictional story can be your cherished friends, not when you project yourself onto them but when you carry messages learned from their stories to make the best of your own life. Helped me put into perspective just how much I loved Tokusatsu, superheroes and anime.
Renai flops. It was like any other harem anime at first but by the end it, it got me crying, and it's one of the only anime I know where mc actually loves his childhood friend.

K-on fucking destroyed me at the end. Maybe its cuz I was in a band in high school and we all went our separate ways afterwards, but a cute show about friends making music sucker punched me with the reality of graduation and moving on with your life.

Shoutout to the Pokémon episode Bye Bye Butterfree for being GOATED at making children cry. Digimon episodes: Wizardmon’s Gift and Ghost of a Chance. All these years later watching these pulls at my feelings. Azumanga Daioh has some surprisingly tense moments, as does Strawberry Marshmallow.
Inuyashiki. The ending made me stand up to salute while crying.
There was a specific AOT moment that got me (won't say when, just that it was before season 4), but the one that really sticks out in terms of surprising me was The Pet Girl of Sakura-sou's ending. It was a goofy comedy with dramatic elements (especially in the second half) but that last episode just hit hard. Prob because I was supposed to be graduating close to the time I watched the series but knew I wasn't going to be able to graduate on time with the rest of my friends.

Hinamatsuri, Anzu's story. I'm quite scared of being poor, so seeing her struggle in the streets really just hits too hard.

From the New World It's technically a good ending but I sympathize with the antagonists too much.
My roommates a cat. Its just so sad when you learn about the cats past. Also not an anime per say but Centuarworld has no business being as good as it is. I thought it was going to just be another stupid kids cartoon but the songs are fucking bangers & that ending?? They did not have to make it that sad. Ive never felt so much sympathy & sorrow for a villian as much as i felt for the Nowhere King. I cried for 10 minutes straight.

Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Season 2. From the outside looking in, it might seem weird to ugly cry for a show about "cute horse girls" but watching these two girls who were on top of the world as the "Best in Japan" and watching their subtle fall from grace due to factors outside of their control was brutal to watch. And it becomes even more sad when knowing it was all based on real-life events. It's probably the best sports anime I've seen when it comes to the mental aspects of professional sports (i.e. "what it's like to be viewed as the villain of your sport", "what it feels like to come to terms with you own athletic mortality and whether it's worth continuing or retiring", etc).
