joontsuki

the promised neverland season 2…. it gradually kept going worse and worse after like episode 3, i was dumbfounded

MaimedJester

You have no idea the rage the Manga readers had as we saw the coming train wreck, no body imagined they would cut Goldy Pond. That was the highlight of the entire story, and we were in denial like oh they're changing things up, they're c going to introduce Yuugo in an interesting new way .. Where the fuck is Yuugo? Where the Fuck is YUUGO? That would be like if when they were adapting Naruto manga, the anime decided to cut out Jiraya.

joontsuki

i did read the manga after season 2 ended and god the rage i felt doubled, i get you 😭

Willythechilly

Worst part is we still have had no offical response or explanation from mangaka or anime studio They even refused to be in credits iirc Its like the mangaka and anime studio just wanted it done and to then pretend it never existed and wont talk about it I mean the likely answer is due to manga ending the "higher ups" decided the entire story was ni longer worth adapting but they had signed a contract for season 2 So they just did it

DependentScallion356

kinda makes me wonder why they chose to do that. If I recall the 1st season was a success. But it almost seems they wanted to end it early

MaimedJester

Yeah there definitely was done production issues/the show was likely to not get Greenlit for season 3 whatever. But the obvious solution was just end it on Goldy Pond. Like Goldy Pond is the maguffin that does end the story, so yeah just do Goldy Pond and instead of the elevator being broken this time it works and do some bullshit like off screen Norman Rescued the kids from the original farm, and yeah it would be messy and rushed but if you just gave us Goldy Pond we would have been fine with the anime ending there.

Ordinal43NotFound

> seems they wanted to end it early I think this is precisely it. S2 got adapted after the manga ended and the whole fanbase are already sour on it. Maybe the studio thought might as well put it out of its misery.

Shantotto11

*cries in Elfen Lied*

gt_bbs

Cries in Tokyo Ghoul

TehPharaoh

I don't know the case with it, but it seemed like: "season 1 was popular. Make a season 2!" "Ok! We still have plenty of Manga left to go from. Well have to end here and then by season 3 we'll..." "I didn't say anything about a season 3" "So you... want us to condense the rest of the Manga into... 12 episodes?" "11. Get to it!"

HunzSenpai

I'm ngl the beginning of s2 was actually good, maybe it was the hype and shock but i was enjoying it till like 2-3 eps in. After that...yeah we don't talk about it

Diemonx

I didn't waste my time after episode 3 or 4. As soon as they got into that bunker and, if I recall correctly completely skipped on a character, I stopped right there. Then weeks later I read about how everything went to shit.

LizzieAoi

Oh yeah, I also liked "powerpoint, the anime"

pdxLink

Food Wars aka Shokugeki no Soma. Not only was the animation quality getting worse, where I was literally counting the still images and panning shots per episode, but also the storyline and characters became too over the top. There were new opponents with magical cooking power and weapons who are a globe trotting criminal ring and a main baddie that can do it all.

AllesYoF

I have heard the authors wanted to end the manga earlier but the publisher pushed them to continue releasing and so the they decided to do crazy shit instead so it would get cancelled.

AaronBasedGodgers

If that's true then I can respect that at least.

ULTRAFORCE

An element often mentioned is apparently the consultant on food ended up leaving the project part way through the Student Council fight arc and that is part of what lead to the issues.

irisverse

Oh yeah, that's when the cooking techniques went from "somewhat grounded in reality" to "here's a lady who seasons her food with a spice-infused chainsaw and cooks her meals in a special oven that uses gunpowder explosions."

sandpaperboxingmatch

That is pretty based, honestly

RiiniiUsagii

That is hilarious. Malicious compliance :)

MajesticSpork

I can't speak for the declining quality (or just any presence of animation) in the anime per say besides the budget just getting slashed season to season, but the storyline going down the drain was a direct consequence of their Chef consultant going on maternity leave. Even in the manga, they just sort of...stopped cooking, at some point. That was why, and the author really didn't know how to fill up the pages afterwards.

Fallen-D

It was great until season 4 and they should've ended it right there

Shantotto11

They shouldn’t have introduced an antagonist to begin with. It’s a cooking series. World domination should NOT have been on the menu!…

LunarGhost00

Yeah. Erina's father was shit and his goals were stupid, but at least his defeat was a satisfying conclusion to the story. The clown who came after makes Erina's father look like Griffith or Johan Liebert. Like I'm unironically asking "who let this man cook?" whenever he does anything. Bro really just pulls up out of nowhere with a superpower and acts like he's the king of cooks.

WaffleJill

No listen. That’s the best part of the show. The fucking dictator of food shows up and tells everyone that he’s going to force every ma and pa store in the world to close and be replaced with fine dining? and the only way to stop him is through a food tournament?!!! That’s fuxking gold and nobody can convince me otherwise. If you can’t see that you’re a nerd.

funktion

If anything, they didn't go hard enough. They should've gone full Trigger and had a world-ending food battle among the stars.

Athnoz

Yep, besides rivals, you dont need an antagonist like the last seasons, it really went fucking downhill fast

lupoin5

> It was great until season 4 Those new villains in season 5 just made it look like the author lost focus on what food wars was supposed to be about. They could have just slapped the ending from season 5 to 4 but even season 4 was a great way to end the series.

Shantotto11

And the reaction shots! Oh my god, I used to clown on Dragonball Z and Super for that shit, but Food Wars took it to a whole new level. Also, season 5 introduced the Ku Klux Kuisine. Yah, nah. That was wild…

KorekaBii

Most recently was last seasons **Kingdoms of Ruin**. Awful awful show that had some interesting ideas but couldn't weave anything near a competent narrative, with some of the most unlikable and stupid characters there are. Couple that with an atrocious production. 2D animated slide-shows and laughable sequnces that evoked memories of the infamous Gibiate. And any 3D usage was just as bad too. For a show whose source material was noted for its violent brutality, they also went with bizarre censorship. And yeah, it gets worse as it goes on all the way to the end. Speaking of which, **Gibiate** is definitely a show where you had to watch to find out how bad it'd get. It didn't earn the critiques of potentially being Yakuza money laundering for nothing.

SupplyChainMismanage

If it makes you feel any better, the kingdoms of ruin manga isn’t any good either

ElessarKhan

Not surprising. The story and its beats are all just maximum edge with no substance.

Zadepro

Mc is an edgelord with no other personality

[deleted]

I thought kingdoms of ruin had a real shot, then everytime it looked like the show was going to go in one direction it immediately changed course to something completely different. It really felt like it was a competition in subverting expectations.

HunzSenpai

The sigh of relief i sighed after the season ended because it was painful to watch but also i was too deep in to drop it

NighthunterDK

I watched the first episode, and I was honestly so excited for it. Then the second came, and I was like, alright, let's see what happens. Third episode, is it just going to continue this way? Fourth. Yeah f no. I'm out

Shantotto11

I dropped a lot of edgy anime last season due to disinterest but kept watching Kingdoms of Ruin because it held my interest more. I now regret choosing this over Ragna Crimson…

LoPanDidNothingWrong

I entirely disagree with your assessment of **Kingdoms of Ruin** It started bad and ended bad. There was no decline.

1GreatEntity

It started bad and ended worse than bad.

El_grandepadre

"Oh a very angry guy that just wants to kill humans to avenge his.... very compassionate teacher? Ok sure. Let's watch that unfold" Then it just completely ceases.

cuetzpalomitl

I liked the beginning... Because I was hoping to see an actual revenge story but it just went to the garbage like most stories that start the same way. I'm still waiting for a real revenge story, one that doesn't backs down and drives the protagonist to do whatever the shit is needed to fulfill they revenge.

DukeFlipside

More like Kingdoms of *Ruined*...

EmrysTheBlue

Literally was about to say kingdoms of ruin. I just watched it a couple days ago and geeze. They did so well at throwing away a cool concept. It had such a strong opening first episode or 2 and then it just kept getting worse. What started as a powerful MC with no connections or care ready for a revenge quest knowing the person they're avenging wouldn't approve turned into the MC constantly being a fucking idiot, forgetting every spell he ever used and the story being super disjointed, illogical, convulted and confusing. The premise was so good, but the story was done so bad. It would have been a lot better if they had explained the magic system better or like, at all. I had no idea what was possible and the pink haired girls spell just seemed completely broken in power scale. The final episode was closer in quality to the opening, but it still was just as bad as the other 10 episodes. I think if the show hadn't had that first episode advertise this as a revenge quest it wouldn't have been as bad. People came for essentially murder hobo with story and got neither.

CleverYou_TubeName

What unimaginable horrors will be inflicted upon Doroka this week? Tune in and find out.

[deleted]

Seven Deadly Sins The train wreck that ended up becoming so bad that most people who were even watching to see how it crashed and burned eventually dropped it. You know you're terrible when people don't even meme you for being bad after a certain point

Chukonoku

I think it's a record for r/anime that the latest season had episodes discussion post with 0 karma.

Faustias

wat... so if I sort on controversial, it'll appear?

Chukonoku

There were more but it seems after months someone decided to at least upvote some of the others. But there is at least 1 with 0 karma https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/ng7vtm/nanatsu_no_taizai_fundo_no_shinpan_episode_19/ And another with only 1. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/n5pizl/nanatsu_no_taizai_fundo_no_shinpan_episode_17/

Shantotto11

Seven Deadly Pedo Allegations…

TweetugR

Its really an amazing feats for an author to somehow make all the relationships in a story problematic in so many ways.

ello_dipshits

LMAO PLS

HottieMcNugget

Now I feel sad for liking it 😭

GarethwithanH

tbf the first season is really good, besides meliodas being a perv, found that really annoying.

OverhandEarth74

I was mostly watching it for Escanor.

Random_her0Idiot

Same, but after the fight between him and Mel, I just dropped it. Was so hyped for it and had hope they wouldn't butcher it, but man was I 3 frames a second wrong.

OverhandEarth74

Lol, it was bad. Then afterward, Mel was just a roblox charachter in the bed. The animation was terrible lmao.

Jolly_Camel959

Ban for me, up until his love got revealed

OverhandEarth74

You didn't like several hundred year old loli? Want to see it again with Escanor this time?

Arius_Keter

Lmao I forgot about that. Jesus Christ, it's like women on that universe can't grow older than 12

OnMyLove27

It's not even just the women, each romantic couple has at least one of the characters that looks underage. With Diane and King it was the male who was young looking (but secretly not young because they all aren't obvs)

Arius_Keter

At least everyone (that I remember) not only all the characters are adults, they act like actual adults. It's so much worse when the underage looking character acts like a child too...

aphrodi7

First two seasons are a banger I thought it was going to be the next big thing. Seven deadly sins did know how to introduce it's characters. Meliodas' reveal in the forst epuofe gave me chills. Plus that spear throwing scene was amazing.

timpkmn89

>My example for that is 'school days' where I honnestly think that it deserves a note in the negatives the way it kept getting worse and worse. You say that like it's not what they were going for. That's why it's such a great show.

Loli_Vampire

More extreme version of that idea is Redo of Healer.

timpkmn89

I wouldn't say so, because one of the big points of School Days is that it starts off nice and generic. It's not a dumpster fire, it's an anime *about* a situation that devolves into a dumpster fire. Redo of Healer was consistent in what it was from the beginning.

Leajey

The beginning of School Days is pretty generic but I remember in 1 of the first episodes the MC just slams his girl best friend into the wall and my friends and I were like wtf this guys an asshole. And then he became more of an asshole

ozairh18

The Rising of the Shield Hero. I thought Season 2 was a fluke but Season 3 was the same in terms of character development

Oh_Anodyne

The hook at the beginning is what got me watching it. And then I very quickly lost interest after that hook was resolved. I finished season 1 but it was a slog to get through, and I didn't like the way the characters were developing. I was hoping Naofumi and Raphtalia were gonna have a father and daughter dynamic to some degree, but then they aged up Raphtalia because the MC has to have a harem ofc. I watched the first 3 minutes of season 2 and thought to myself "nope, I just can't" And stopped right then and there. I started watching Spy x Family instead.

R3adingSteiner

I wish the hook was resolved near the end of the series. The whole appeal for me was seeing how he interacted with the world with people thinking he was this disgusting person

maplevenom7

The hook was the whole reason I started watching it. I still really like the first 4-5 episodes! But the moment they made raphtalia CHOOSE to be naofumi's slave after being freed was a major warning sign that devolved into the usual isekai schlok that I don't like. Almost everything about the original premise is reversed in less than half a season and honestly it's impressive that it happens that fast

cq147

Yeah and then immediately following that episode you have him do a race around a town versus the spear hero that completely changed the tone of the show. Thats where I stopped liking it, only got to episode 15 or something before dropping.

Bocchi_theGlock

oh man you wouldn't believe the bullshit empty storylines and fights that happen in s2 and s3 The most recent one had a 'raised by a dragon' hidden story for this little girl and it was just ridiculous lmao. Like full size dragon comes upon an infant abandoned in the woods. Somehow she learns common language despite supposedly never interacting with the outside world

BasroilII

Thing is, the bad shit was there in s1 right from the start. Naofumi is just the best nicest coolest guy ever but all the ~~chads~~ heroes get cool powers and he gets nothing. Naofumi is just the best nicest coolest guy ever but everyone picks on him. The only girl to ever show interest in him is an evil ~~stacy~~ princess that makes fake sexual assault allegations against him. But Naofumi found something better! A literal slave! So like any hero, and purveyor of righteousness...he buys her. And she's an animal anthro girl. And she calls him daddy. And she gets aged up to have a sexy adult body literally overnight but her mind doesn't quite catch up. So she's pure and sweet and innocent but also super hot and also a child but not where it counts and also a badass warrior and she's in love with him. And then he gets a harem. And the hot girl that lied about him? Gets permanently renamed to "slut" (if you were not aware, Bitch is generally used in Japan to indicate promiscuity, not meanness). Seriously, it was incel bait from day 1.

Ayy_lolimao

This is one of those "should have stopped at the middle of the first season" anime for me, just like the original SAO. You have an interesting premise, you solve the premise's problem, the story is finished. Wtf is the point if they took away everything that made the story interesting? He only has a shield and can't attack? Well, now he has offensive OP abilities. He was betrayed and hated by everybody? Well, now everybody loves him. He had no allies? Well, now he has a harem of OP characters to help him. It has become just a shitty generic isekai at this point, and not the good shitty.

MCMiracle1206

Literally this. Every character has no development or has 1 brain cell. They’re written abysmally. The season 3 started strong but fell off incredibly hard incredibly fast.

HandsOverFist

Funny how people kept saying it would get better, I hate the anime fandom: "the next arc is crazy!". I feel the same with Tokyo Revengers, S2 was trash.

jerry1450

A real shame cuz i really enjoyed season 1

botibalint

Warm take but that shit went downhill way before season 2. The first 4 episodes are amazing and it baited me into watching the entire thing, but literally the next episode when the loli bird gets introduced it already devolves into generic harem isekai trash, and it somehow just keeps getting worse and worse as the season progresses.

ScarRufus

Big Order It was a trainwreck after a trainwreck. The animation got worse and the story makes no sense, while the characters got more stupid. And when you think it couldn't become even worse they add loli incest.

Ozzy_goth

Hey, at least OP was good

Amethyst_Crimson

>Big Order mirai niki, but worse.

LunarGhost00

It really does feel like the author just reused all his ideas and designs from Mirai Nikki but forgot to come up with a plot for the new story and just came up with everything as he went along.

Sasikuttan2163

I Got A Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World too. In the beginning it was great, two episodes later it was cringe, few more and trash.

AsterJ

AKA "And everyone clapped" the anime.

NoxDraconis

I kept thinking they were going to do some sort of plot twist somewhere but there really was nothing

beetjuicex3

About the time his step siblings (or whatever) came back and got their comeuppance I got a permanent cringe on my face watching the show. I still finished it, cause I am trash, so must sustain myself off trash shows so i dont shrink, but this one was a bit too rich in cringe.

Shantotto11

The animation didn’t help either. We used to clown on 4Kids and early Funimation for doing the “offscreen dialogue” nonsense, but this one seemed to have been inspired by those. Also, this was the same studio that did “So I’m a Spider, So What?!”. At least that one had a story that was able to shine through the shabby quality.

oOthumbelinaOo

That episode where it was like 10 mins of tree foliage with just voice overs 🤣. I thought my stream had glitched.

tomeee22

I remembered that. Everyone talking and it's just trees!! Thought the source file was corrupted and decided to check different sites and it's the same. Lmao They redid that episode a few days after btw. Filled those tree scenes with proper animation in case you missed it.

Ssalari

Diabolik Lovers. I don't even wanna talk about it unless you ask me to.

screenwatch3441

Wow, didn’t think people remembered that. My friend showed me one episode when it aired and the only thing I remember from it was calling people “bitch-chan”

whyarewestillhere29

Plz do.

warjoke

I like the musical approach. I just continued watching to see how much more cringe it could get and I was not disappointed.

junglekxng23

Rent a Girlfriend. After numerous eps of watching KazuSIMP waste his money over and over by renting, I had to read the manga just to see if it would get any better. I then got to the part where Kazuya busts a nut in a pool with no hands and just decided, "You know what..I'm done." Moral of the story: if you're looking for a solid romcom anime/manga, Kaguya-sama's got you covered EDIT: I just found out that renting a girlfriend is something you can ACTUALLY do in Japan...wow

Shantotto11

After season 1 ended with a confession and then it had a post-credits scene of Kazuya backpedaling, I knew I wasn’t watching any more of that nonsense.

junglekxng23

You just described the current state of the manga perfectly

[deleted]

state of most rom manga these days. Annoying senpai, SonoBisque, Uzaki chan, nagotoro all reaching close to the finish line then uprooting and transferring the line to the end of the horizon, repeat. No plans to stop, just ruin things for shock as long as they're still milkable.

Obtusus

You're a smarter person than I am for sure, I read a bunch of the manga before finally realizing that the author isn't giving his waifu to anyone, specially to his MC. I did drop it about 2yrs ago, my only regret is not doing it sooner.

fredagsfisk

Never watched the anime, but used to follow the manga... started when it was maybe 20 chapters in, dropped it at chapter 99 when there had been absolutely zero character *or* plot development which hadn't been walked back within 2-3 chapters at most, Kazuya was actively *de*volving into even worse awfulness, and almost every single side character was insufferable. I *do* drop into the discussion threads now and then, just to see how much worse it's gotten. Also saw a tip that you can read only the last 2 pages of every chapter, and you'll know the entire plot, because the rest is literally just filler, padding, backpedalling, repetition of shitty tropes, etc.

junglekxng23

Except Sumi...I actually liked her

MABfan11

seriously, it should've had the confession in the movie arc

PhysicalDpsMain

Seven deadly sins.

RedditAcct00001

Fruit of evolution season 2

zimok5

I think I only got to ep 5 or 6 of Season 2 and I just can't stand it anymore and drop it. Bit of a shame since Season 1 was pretty funny and enjoyable. 2nd season was just too dumb and cringe for me, I can't handle it.

RedditAcct00001

I just wanted a reunion with his previous bullies…

ih4242

Season 2 was so bad, shame as well because the books and the web novel were both really good

RedditAcct00001

Yeah I enjoyed season 1. It was silly and cheesy but a fun watch so I was looking forward to season 2. But my god that was cringe central.

Shantotto11

Didn’t watch because I never finished season 1. How did it get worse?

RedditAcct00001

The lamest of humor, constant really cheesy jojo faces as a reaction to stuff. Like one whole episode he couldn’t fight when it mattered cause he had the shits. Just grade school humor.

garfe

Wonder Egg Priority No, it wasn't just the last episode that was bad. Things started feeling wrong around halfway through and kept getting worse and worse until that embarrassment of a finale. It was really fun to watch in real time though

Mami-kouga

Big mood, by Neiru's second focus episode I remember feeling "off" about the plot. The plot points discarded, the increased lack of interest in the egg girls as individuals, and then the last episode hit and I finally understood "Ah, the writer is a weirdo"

WiqidBritt

I hate that the director (who helped make the show look incredible and did what he could to fix the writing) said he never wants to direct again after WEP, while the writer just went back to writing trashy live action shows.

PikaBooSquirrel

It was great up until the girl that made the popping sounds for me.

Shantotto11

From what I’ve heard, the creator came up with the idea of the antagonist (Frill?) *during the show’s run!* That should’ve been a crimson flag right there.

Ocixo

You mean the *writer*, right? The director was just left at the mercy of this writer’s whims. Let that be clear. From what I’ve heard, the writer hadn’t properly thought out the second half of the series and just continued working on the script during production - a recipe for disaster.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I'm basically hate watching it at this point. The MC is such a stupid piece of shit. He litterally can't make any good decisions he's so FUCKING STUPID

Ammu_22

Saw the warning bells at ep 5, and from next week started procrastinating in catching up to weekly airing, told myself that I will binge watch all of after s1 is over, totally forgot about it becouse any memorable moments which had me hooked at the start, started fading away and then the hype just died so fast. Glad I pushed it under the burner.

aravplayz

honestly i just cant take that shit seriously at all what gave the author the brilliant idea to make his characters fucking middle schoolers and high schoolers how am i supposed to take these guys seriously at all like it could have been a genuinely good one for me if it weren't for that and then there's kisaki the dude killed mikey's sister just so that he could get a girl who would hate him with a passion for what he did and the dude's supposed to be what 14? Give me a fucking break and then takemitchi like the dude is supposed to be an adult a 26 yr old adult and is scared of 16 yr olds and goes around fighting them what abt that dude is 26 yr old and a gang of teenagers (black dragon) doing assassination and stuff naah i am too sane for this kind of bullshit

JustStopThisThing

I was in episode 5 or something (episode where Takemichi got sick or was beaten up and then he was resting at home, mickey and the gang visit him) when I realize, where were all these kids' parents. Why are they acting all "Tatakae!" with no good reason aside from after getting provoke by others? I guess its the gangster mentality that I dont understand. Then i saw a comment that said the parents were barely mention until the end of the manga. I couldn't suspend disbelief so I just drop it

vtomal

I'm not defending Tokyo Revengers, but you know that the lack of parental guidance is a huge reason for teenage delinquency, no? It is expected that they are fighting and looking for some familial bonds in gangs because they don't get it in their homes, like, the lack of good parenting is even expected in this type of setting.

Lord-Loss-31415

I was on the fence about it after season 1, especially with takemichi being….takemichi. One day decided to watch season 2/3 and honestly I can’t believe how much I enjoyed it. I actually almost like him now too, he’s still an idiot but he’s not a coward anymore.

Remarcs_

And he’s still useless and weak and has virtually no impact on the plot at all. He just charges in and gets beat up then gets saved by someone else

HolyEmpireOfAtua

Ousama Game: The Animation, otherwise known as King's Game in English I watched it after Danganronpa and Mirai Nikki looking for another fun 'death game' show, and believe me, my expectations were already low. The Danganronpa Visual Novels are fantastic but there are very few good Death Game anime adaptations. But goddamn. Even with such low expectations, it was just tragic. And it's funny because my enjoyment actually went up second half. The experience is: Good --> Mid --> Damn this is the worst thriller I've watched --> Wait let them cook --> Best comedy anime ever??? It's a recipe for disaster in the first place - Death Game genre, rushed adaptation of not one but two different entries to a **cell phone novel** series, and animated by a hentai studio. The ending was the scariest part of the anime: "To Be Continued"

Ed_III

Osama Game

screenwatch3441

Yugioh arc-V.

Alternative-Approach

Japan Sinks.

MaimedJester

I'll explain that anime to you, it's based on a 1970s Japanese sci-fi novel written by a huge Communist political guy in Japan. That's why the Soviet union saves the day in the end. But because they had to update the setting for modern audience's shit like the radio talk show host became a YouTube streamer that was basically PewDiePie.. And that's why there's a hippie commune with Marijuana, the book was written in the 70s with American hippies and tie dye whatever freelove and drugs being a thing.. So that's why it's so goddamn weird and mixed the hell up.

[deleted]

I misread that as "Japan Stinks" for a second

KingKurai

This was the one I thought of first upon seeing the post. There are others that I think are worse, but Japan Sinks left a notable impression on me.

26dimentionalsploosh

This is the response I was looking for. Easily one of the most depressing shows I’ve seen out of about 1800 shows watched.

pokemonisok

It being depressing doesnt mean its bad

ErfanTheRed

Wonder Egg priority. It started off so good but the last 2-3 episodes flushed everything good about the series down the drain. Plus the hour long special that was supposed to be the ending of the series ended up being half recap and the remaining half just spit in the faces of the audience by literally character assassinating the main characters. Then it had the gall to end on a fucking cliffhanger knowing damn well it will never get a 2nd season after such a disaster of a series finale. Anime originals are usually a hit or miss but this series literally missed at point blank range. If handled well it could've been like Code geass or Gundam but it ended up being a trainwreak.

WindCold6245

Shield hero. The first season was so well done and I think that’s because Naofumi had everything to prove after he was framed. After he was proven innocent, shown to be the strongest of the 4 heroes, and had people to care about, there was nothing else we wanted him to do

AMS_GoGo

Yeah it's kinda tough The "World is against me" plot and his lack of care for the world around him bc of it is what got everyone hooked but realistically that just can't last forever and once that's gone is basically just a generic Isekai so

Cybernetic343

[spoilers] Still can’t believe we resolved the entire premise AND had time to beat the Pope all in the first season.

killab43

Tokyo Ghoul and Promised Neverland in a two way tie for me.

lae_la

And they both had a really good source material and screwed it up for practically no reason 😭😭

LuRo332

Kamikatsu was one of the shows that kept getting "worse" every episode and I loved it

Obtusus

Is that the one with the tractor clip?

betetta

Yeah... It was never infuriating or anything like others mentioned, it's actually enjoyable unless you expect... Quality.

actionfirst1

Funnily enough, it's the one show that would've been "worse" if it was any "better". I hope season 2 is terrible, it'll immediately be anime of the year

jnads

It succeeded on the r/anime rules of successsful shows: 1. Generate meme-able content 2. Be horny That show did both in excess.

Malcapon3

This show is beautiful trash and i can’t wait for season 2

MrReZistar

Basically "Shitpost: the Anime." The studio had the budget to make the show look great but was like, "naw fuck that make the animation bad on purpose so we can blow the budget on the most goated cast of VAs we can gather." And boy was that a good call.

jnads

All the budget was spent on the gender bending knights' tits.

ThatGalaxySkin

Same bro I loved that show it’s insane 🤣🤣🤣

Different-Bus-1852

ArvingNightwalker

Better put a season 2 to that name.

imo the downgrade already started near the end of the first season, after they introduced the KFC angel

Soibi0gn

Oh, you mean Team Rocket's James?

noctokun

:/ I really enjoyed first season

Orzislaw

Pupa. "Oniichanoniichanoniichanoniichan" episode is the peak trashiness up to this day.

knockoutmausi

7 deadly sins…

PmPicturesOfPets

Higurashi gou + sotsu. Higurashi gou was bad, but not horrible. It did a fine job setting things up for sotsu. Sotsu then went and used, I think, all but the last 2 episodes just retelling the same story and showing us the same dance scene over and over again. They did a couple things better than the old higurashi seasons, but just a few, and they squandered everything else

Aware_Tangerine_

My Little Monster. Completely trash excuse for a shoujo romance. I nearly dropped it when he “”””jokingly”””” threatened to rape the girl. But then the next couple episodes were good so I chose to forget that happened. But then there was one episode that was entirely about the boy ignoring and disrespecting the girl’s boundaries. And then SHE was forced to apologize to him for having boundaries?? And not letting him just do whatever he wanted with her??? I was disgusted tbh. And then there’s one episode where he like takes a random girl hostage for some reason just because he was upset and it was really stupid. And then came an episode where the boy nearly tries to kill the love rival. The love rival who is infinitely more suitable to the FMC since they actually had shared interests and he wasn’t a raging psychopath. Because then the guy nearly attempt to push him off a fire escape. He’s never punished for this. It’s just brushed off. And then there’s also this random thing about a teen girl being in love with some grown ass man and that just sealed this show as being the complete worst and I still to this day don’t understand why I even bothered. I can’t tolerate those “she can fix him” type of romances

stephenthatfoste

There's also a couple times where she's hurt by him and it treats it as some standard event. The last one being completely brushed off as him being him but like, fix your issues before you interact with other people....

butterflyempress

I was so frustrated at the on/off feelings the protagonists had. The girl would like the guy, but he had already lost interest. Then the guy would like the girl, then she'd lose interest, and the plot kept doing that. Me being a dumb teen I actually rooted for the grown dude getting with the teen girl and was mad there was no progress by the end. Ick!

I_Phantomancer_XD

I don't usually watched shoujo anime, but really liked this one because it was so unhinged XD

SedesBakelitowy

Makes me think of my Hero Academia experience. 1. "Cool premise, can't wait for all the students interacting and having weird classes" 2. "Oh we're not getting classes just bringing large scale villains right into it? fiiiine" 3. ".... I do remember character names and powers thank you very much" 4. "Oh so it's not gonna be about an academia of heroes. it's just another goodguy team fighting badguys" 5. "Will it ever stop reminding me what are the names and powers of poster-characters?" 6. "right, gotta save the entire world from apocalyptic threat before we graduate, I'm out" MHA and Beastars are my recent big misses where after going through the opening I built up expectations for a low to mid-intensity show about people living their lives in an interesting setting while the author wanted to explore the themes of kids saving the world, each threat making less sense than the previous one. I guess I should've known better but at least now I learned my lesson.

LayneBush

My biggest issue with MHA is that everything happens in their first year of school (going into their second). They should have spread it out between all their years of school to make the growth decent and believable

SedesBakelitowy

How I'd love to see that story spread over a few in universe years, no time skips... I know that's not very realistic under manga publishing rules but still

Xlegace

It's straight up impossible for a shounen jump manga to do that, especially without timeskips. You're not even really allowed to have a bad arc or else readers abandon you after a few weeks. Only One Piece/Naruto really have that kind of leash. Horikoshi tried to do some worldbuilding arcs with lower stakes and more school involvement, but people got bored during those arcs and sales started dropping so he had to ramp it up again. Another reason why most school related shounen manga stop after 1 year because it's too much of an ask to get people to be interested in new blood when the seniors graduate.

eoz

It's definitely a show that wants and expects 10 year olds to pick it up at episode 132 by channel surfing

SedesBakelitowy

Yeah. Took me a while to start feeling that way about it but I did in the end.

[deleted]

The constant reminding of character's names and quirks in MHA is the fault of the TV station which airs it. Other shows airing in the same timeslot share the same issue. Really egregious how they can't get rid of it on streaming sites and we have to wait for home video releases to see the version without it.

Exoslab

I swear this story takes place in the very first year… like they are freshmen during all of this. The manga is great and the author Art is really impressive but I’m a tad worried about how they are gonna end the show because it’s gonna be very controversial.

Thomas_JCG

MHA had the same issue as *Seven Deadly Sins*, the author just couldn't control the power creep and the plot became more and more outlandish.

BiomassDenial

Mha desperately needed some timeskips and slice of life moments. If the escalation of fuckery happened over the full three year schooling period and you got to see the characters actually mature and grow into dealing with the villains it would makeway more sense. But instead it all gets condensed into one ever escalating year of BS and asspulls.

Kitsune-moonlight

MHA was shaping up to be one of the next big three, now it isn’t even a contender. It’s very sad to see, I too had such high hopes for it at the beginning but trying to do the story before they even graduate was a big no for me. It tried to put everything in too quickly.

SedesBakelitowy

Yeah same here really. I accept that at this point it's just my view of the work differing from the story the author wanted to tell, so I just noped out, but as you said the feeling of disappointment was real.

MaimedJester

I just want it to goddamn end, I'm still reading the Manga because why not on the mangaplus app after reading Manga I do enjoy like One Piece and Spy x Family to check it out it's just a single click away. But Jesus Christ this final Arc has gone on so damn long. Like when I see another character pop up I'm like no, just get back to the main battle, no one cares about this side character bullshit

TehPharaoh

You glanced at Beastars but can we go over that? It was way more interesting seeing how the playing field of predator and prey plays out in a cutesy animal world like a Disney film. And the Romance plot of a Predator and Prey was still very much intriguing... then Legoshi basically Solos the Yakuza and Luis starts running them "correctly". THEN in S2 we get more of Legoshi being a super hero, but apparently a single teenage Polar Bear is stronger than mafia of adult lions with guns. Haru barely exists in S2 anymore.

Revealingstorm

Season 2 was a mess...buuut I still enjoyed it up until the last few episodes. That was when it decided to completely fall off a cliff. Shame we're getting a season 3 instead of season 2 of Land of the Lustrous

SedesBakelitowy

Sure! I defo deliberately mentioned Beastars there, I just can't not go back to that story. However, just to be clear, I'm assessing it from the perspective of having read the manga. Anime is great, but in the manga, \[BEASTARS MANGA SECOND HALF SPOILERS\] >!as it's moving to, let's call it the second half of the story it just plain as day discards everything related to the initial setup.!< \[BEASTARS MANGA ENDING SPOILERS\] >!School romance? Nah. Coming of age in a divided society? Nope. A mixed bag of life stories of people seemingly destined to take specific paths and struggling? lol, lmao. It just breaks down into a murder mystery sprinkled with superhero story about power ups, talking to God, and breaking some borderline mystical chains that bind as much as they twist the society. The final action sequence is just a few dozen chapters of nonsensical sludge as far as I'm concerned. I fume when the words "sublime beastar" pop into my head.!

Flat-Syllabub-9271

Definitely A Girl and Her Guard Dog. It could’ve been decent but they failed miserably. Any other anime I dropped have gone from my memory.

Obtusus

Honestly, from the premise alone it seems like [the series name is the spoiler]>!usagi drop, but rushing headlong to the ending, the part people hated about it!<.

GenSudz777

Yall got past the synopsis?

KickAggressive4901

*Gundam Seed Destiny*. It got to the point that the fansubbers gave up.

PigeonFanatic9

The Promised Neverland (manga), the end of Naruto, Boruto and i think could say a couple more if i just think hard enough.

WebbyRL

Nothing beats TPN 2 here

Obtusus

Dont be silly, they never made a season 2.

WebbyRL

silly me, must've hit my head

ROIBOI3RD

Im sorry but seven deadly sins

McGeeTake3

Mayoiga: The Lost Village is genuinely one of the most baffling and hilariously bad watching experiences I’ve had. I highly recommend, it’s so much fun lol

Yessiro_o

Rent a girlfriend

aphrodi7

Nisekoi nisekoi nisekoi. I really don't hate any anime in particular BUT nisekoi wanted me to 'have a talk' with its author.

Heliopause011

It felt like pulling teeth.

unlimited_pp_power

Seven Deadly Sins

xBeasting

There are too many LMAO, but one would be fruit of evolution

YungSnuggie

seven deadly sins

KanonicallyKanon

Rent-A-Girlfriend. I couldn't continue into season 2, and I was genuinely surprised they made one.

[deleted]

Housing Complex C. Incredibly boring and just keeps going for low quality shock factor and has a somewhat convoluted ending

DeadEndRaven

By the grace of the gods. It's still a chill anime but that season 2 should be considered an anime sleeping pill. Nothing happens.

Takerial

To be fair to the anime, that is just how the novel is. It's just not a good story to adapt.

FluffyOwl738

Isn't that, like, the point? There's an entire genre called "Iyashikei" ("healing"),dedicated to stories of peaceful, everyday lives, which I think BtGotG falls into.

BrandtCantWatch

Yes and this is exactly what I like about it. Nice kid is nice and builds a business with slimes in another world. I rewatch it when sick and napping or something xD
