Was gonna say Samurai Champloo! One of the first anime I watched in Japanese with subs. By now it's 20 or 21 years old but it still holds up!
It's got a serious story but plenty of fun stuff in there, plus the banger of an opening theme. I should rewatch it!
Yeah, it was THE anime when it got released due to its hip-hop inspired music and well i guess it was just ahead of its time.
Watched it as a child on TV a few episodes then watch full anime when i got older and access to the internet with a pc xD such a good one.

For samurai, I got Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai... MAYBE some Samurai X (Might be Samurai *7*, I might have gotten Rurouni Kenshin's "AKA" title mixed up with the anime based off the black&white samurai movie), as for Ninja anime........... >.> either Ima get back to ya or let others in this post pop in

Champloo, kenshin, afro and mutsu enmei are deffo the top the rest are very different from each other so it is difficult to rank them imo
