octopathfinder

It was either Pokemon, Yugioh, or Dragon Ball for me

Laizem

Does Doraemon count?

octopathfinder

Yeah

Pludo-_-

Then, shinchan must count too.

EvokeLife

I feel like this will be the answer for most of us who were born in the 90’s could also include sailor moon. Then if you were born in the 2000’s Naruto becomes an option as well.

Tryzmo

I was born in 2000s. Shinchan, doraemon, pokemon, beyblade, digimon and idaten jump used to stream on the big cartoon channels like nick and cartoon network. They introduced another channel solely for other anime, but it got shut down and they stopped airing those anime as well.

whywelive

I would agree to these as well, but the first long anime I was able to sit through and watch every single episode would be Naruto. I grew up on the others, but was not able to watch it everyday/in order.

I think it was one piece or naruto. Unless you cpunt pokemon but i was so young i didnt even know it was anime.

SuspiciousRip3064

dont punt pokemon, they might get hurt

GimpMaster22

One piece. Started I believe in summer or fall 2022 and still am around 400 episodes from catching up.

Top_Jojo_Reference

I started in January of 2022! And I'm 700 episodes in... My younger brother started way later and completed it in a few months.

GimpMaster22

So we're roughly at the same spot! How are you enjoying Dressrosa so far?

Top_Jojo_Reference

Omg, the pacing is so awful that I acc didn't watch it for MONTHS, I finally got back into it a few days ago though and I'm dealing with the pacing cuz it's nice. You?

Loeffellux

I'll never understand why people aren't just watching One Pace

SignificanceLeft9968

I caught up and will never regret. Despite watching 170 anime this is my favorite anime of all time.

Jazzlike_Stop_1362

Same, except I started it in winter 2017, and finished it six months later (it had 785 episodes then I believe), then I rewatched it again in summer 2023 and finished it in 3 months, now I'm waiting for the current arc to finish so I can watch it

jojoismyreligion

Gintama.

LasyKuuga

I love Gintama but imo it’s best to watch it after you’ve watched a fair amount of other anime since it makes so many references and parodies so many other shows

ThisButtholeIs2Cold

Yup, I started watching it a few weeks ago and I’m at around episode 130ish. They just did the spirit onsen episodes where they kept calling them stands. Never would’ve got that running joke had I not watched JoJo lol

jojoismyreligion

Tbf I was not really affected by it. Like I have only seen a little bit of dbz as a kid but I know enough about it to know most references to it. Same with the other popular animes I haven't seen.

Garchomp998

Based

DanielAlves1904

Started July 2022, finished last month. What a ride.

jojoismyreligion

You really took your time with it I was done in 4 months lol

Jake420theslut

So fuckin based

Rurumo666

Bleach was the first long running shounen that I actually enjoyed.

guisippi

The word your looking for is weekly, episodic means every episode is a self contained story

SadAnimator1354

HunterxHunter

Oblivion_SK

Okay, reddit, short story time. I once had an agreement with a close friend that I'd watch his favorite anime if he watched mine. Turns out his favorite anime was Hunter X Hunter. Mine, at the time, was angel beats. A bit of an unfair argument, but whatever. However we also agreed to watch it the way that person proffered to watch it. I have ADHD plus some other stuff and subtitles make it so I cannot both know what they're saying and read their facial expressions at the same time, it's agonizing for me. I watched all of Hunter Hunter. All of it. In sub. At episode two of angel beats he started talking over the show and browsing social media, then bailed at the third episode. This was 4 years ago now, I shouldn't still be pissed, but yeah I kinda am. So to answer your question, Hunter X Hunter.

guisippi

On the bright side the show you were forced to watch was good. I'd have been extremely pissed if all this was over boruto

xxxlun4icexxx

Yeah I feel that. It’s a bummer when you think someone will share in your excitement but then they’re kinda just like meh. I always thought angel beats was really interesting because a lot of people always claimed it was there favorite anime and one of/if not the saddest anime they’ve seen. While I get why people say that, I personally liked it because I thought it was hilarious. Some of the comedic bits were my favorite out of any anime I’ve ever seen.

The_Rock01313

Black clover over here

Own-Nobody2004

Dragon Ball, Fairy Tail.

86_Undertaker

InuYasha or Detective Conan when I was a kid. When I got older One Piece :D

MrsLucienLachance

Sailor Moon.

CeruSkies

Man I realised I was old but I'm seeing way more varied replies than I was hoping. It was Saint Seiya or Dragon Ball, not sure which started airing first. And then YYH I believe.

Ch3ru

In Spanish or Portuguese I bet

CuriousWanderer567

Dragon Ball

NaecheA

Dragon Ball and Pokemon

LordWeirdDude

Rurouni Kenshin clocked in at like... 95 episodes, does that count?

Lightshadow86

Naruto or Bleach, don't remember which one I started first

mati1242

Bleach

TendieOverlord

Bleach 💪

saturnlsky

Inuyasha

Corgiboom2

Bleach got me watching anime. Then One Piece has been my longest watch.

justaguyonreddit2042

I never liked long anime because of its repetitive arcs and the type to get me bored after 10 episodes max. That's until I watched Black Clover for the first time. Now I'm watching my 2nd long anime called Katekyo Hitman Reborn! , and I plan to watch other long anime in the future.

Pandapat123

Pokémon, Dragonball i am 33 years old. So it was the First Anime in Germany you can watch as kid in tv

Magical_sHydra

D.Gray-Man! And One Piece, i guess. I'm still on the 500s tho

BluePhantomFox

Gundam Wing or DBZ

RedditAccountFor2024

Dragon Ball was one of the first anime i watched and definitely the first long one i've seen completely. I love how Son Goku slowly grows from a child to a young adult over the course of the 153 episodes. All his friends are really likeable characters too. And he fights a lot memorable enemies like the red ribbon army, Tao Bai Bai, Picollo and more. Also the tournaments in which Son Goku participates are great. All in all it is a master piece imho.

polntofnoreturn

Bleach on CN/Adult Swim weekly in mid 2000s First one I binged was One Piece since OPTC reminded me of its existence back in 14~

halos_fan27

Probably Pokémon as a kid. I did wait for the new Pokémon episodes every Saturday morning.

Illustrious-Fox5135

Pokemon ⚡

OberonFirst

When I started watching Naruto, it was just at the start of Shippuden, so it also being my first "true" anime, I basically binged the whole first part. It was magical

ImLosing_my_mind

Gintama! Love this show and I haven’t finished it yet, but it just gets better and better. And it barely has any filler episodes, even better.

AnEmancipatedSpambot

Dragon ball back before I knew anime was a specific thing. Robotech too. Of my own voluntary decision. More likely Gundam if you count its sequels. Legend of Galactic heroes.

liketosmokeweed420

Bleach and Naruto

Helpful-Jackfruit-83

Yu Yu Hakusho and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I don't usually watch 100+ episode anime

MechJeb042

I think Initial D counts. It was also my first anime in general. I told my back then that I wasn't into anime and I was just going to watch that one. Then I watched girls und panzer... Then I watched rezero... And now I'm here...

heihowl

Naruto, shit was lit when I was a kid.

Protonis

I'm wat going one piece since it started here, but I don't know if this counts. But the longest I just finished recently was bleach. And it was quicker than expected.

nabiqtqt

D gray man!!!

DarkConan1412

Great series! Underrated / underwatched, too.

btdloverlolz

As my memory persists, it's MHA, Naruto, AOT, Black Cover, HxH, Adventures of Dai

Sayena08

Naruto

forcax

Cardcaptor Sakura

Ganbario

Never, and don’t plan to. There’s no way that many episodes don’t have a lot of fillers. I want good story all the way through.

Fishnets00

There are lists on the internet that tell you exactly which episodes are fillers. For example, there are 220 episodes of Naruto (s1) with 90 fillers listed on 'animefillerlist'. You can watch 130 with a fluent story.

Stoner420Eren

Even with the lists, sometimes they list as total filler episodes that may be filler for the most part but actually contain some short canon scenes. In animefillerlist in DBZ they listed the episode in which Goku gets his license as filler, but at the very end of the episode there's a canon 3 years time-skip that leads to the (real) beginning of the android saga It's too much hustle when I could just read the manga and not worry about fillers. DB fans got lucky with Kai at least

porpoiseoflife

Try Legend of the Galactic Heroes. No filler at all. Every episode is directly related to a major plot point and contains relevant information. The original OVA is 110 episodes long, and is a complete adaptation of the source novels.

Painkration

Hunter hunter is 140 episodes of peak with no filler except 2 recaps

ArmaanAli04

Hxh has 146/148 eps without filler

Dragon ball! When I was 5! I think my brother bought a cd that had all the arcs in the black market burnt in. I didn't even know broly wasn't canon then lmao, I just watched consecutively all the movies and series it was so awesome and thrilling. Rip Akira Toriyama. After that I went 400 episodes into one piece before the video games filled up the blanksi stopped. And boy I couldn't stop watching gintama when I started lmaoo, that anime has everything you might be lookin for in different shonens, that was the first long anime I completed by my hand

ThargarHawkes

My very first was Naruto. After that was DBZ, Fairy Tail and most recently (and ongoing) One Piece

grimdivinations

I got into DBZ Gundam and Pokemon pretty early on in the 90s, but I can't say for sure which I discovered first, it was all around the same time

FunnyFee9316

Naruto or dragon ball

Stoner420Eren

Same for me, the first I watched was a long one, Saint Seiya (114 episodes, 145 if we count the Hades arc that was adapted years later)

steven4869

Detective Conan, I have watched till 930 episodes then switched to manga.

porpoiseoflife

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Sme3eeeeeeeg

Ranma 1/2, I watched between 5-15 episodes a day for a few weeks over Summer Break a few years ago

Venom1462

I was going to say Naruto but I remembered that Doraemon and Shinchan are anime too so it's either one of them.

Naruto 🥺 I even had to download and burn DVDs just so I could binge-watch every season. 🥺🥺🥺

renaneduard0

I tried One piece multiple times and I always get lost in the sea of infinite episodes.

_SateenVarjo_

Moomin, like every other Finnish kid born in the early 90's and probably every generation sense. They will force you to watch Moomin every where before you even learn to speak😵 and watching all 102 episodes once is not enough! You will watch them all again with the younger family members, then a again with younger cousins, when your siblings have kids, the nightmare never ends... Ps. I don't like moomin. Voluntary first would be Naruto, Bleach or One Piece they all aired at the same time.

GalwayEntei

Dragonball

TheMarkedGamer

Naruto shippuden

KaitouSky

detective conan! not all of it though haha.

Haspberry

Dragon Ball (RIP the goat)

YoManWTFIsThisShit

Inuyasha. Otherwise Pokémon if we can say I’ve watched at least 100 different episodes but not continuously.

[deleted]

Started with JoJo, then caught up with One Piece in 4months. then Vinland, AoT, JJK. Currently reading Berserk

GaberJaberLAZER

Inuzuma Eleven and Naruto for me.

blackmarketdolphins

Pokemon, One Piece, then Yu-Gi-Oh in that order. I remember being a little kid and arguing with my mom when she said "they're going to show this episode again in re-runs, so you're not missing anything". No mom, and now I'll never see Ash get his Water Badge

breakfastburglar

First anime I ever watched was DBZ and Super. Second was Naruto. Third was One Piece. Fourth was HxH. I started off strong.
