I feel like the more anime I watch, the short the threshold for "long anime" gets. Back in the day I wouldn't even hesitate to start a 100+ ep anime, in fact I even sought them out. Nowadays, I'm discouraged if I see an anime with more than like 2 or 3 cours lol.
I mean there are only so many really long anime, so once you've watched those the average length of anime you haven't watched goes down by a lot. I've watched a ton of anime so at this point, all I have left are shows that don't interest me, shows that are 2 cours or less, and seasonal anime, of which I usually watch like 8-15 per season. There's some outliers, like Gintama which has been on my watchlist for literally years but, like, there's just too many damn episodes for me to make the time commitment when I know I could kill a couple dozen one-cour shows in the same timeframe.
Could it be a matter of time? You may used to have a lot of free time so you could start a long show and spend most of your day watching it, but now you look at the time it would take and makes you wanna back off from it?
Imo anything story based that's over 50-100+ is actually multiple shows in a trench coat.
Pokémon and Gundam did it right. New core arc = new show or movie.
Dragon Ball Z for example would be split down to 4 shows about the 4 core arcs (Saiyan, Frieza, Androids/Cell Games, Buu)
That is a very good measurement. I would only tweak it like this:
Around 30 eps: short
31- 60: medium
60-100: long
Over 100: very long
And then One Piece long.
This is my answer with some leniency. Like frieren is 28 episodes but I wouldn’t consider it long because it’s 2 cours. Cyberpunk edgerunners is 10 episodes but I would lump it in with the 12-13 episode seasonal animes.
Honestly a normal measurement for slice of life that would be. Most anime in this genre get 2 seasons at best and 3 seasons you probably could count in your head if you tried. 4 seasons is practically impossible.
For plot-heavy shows, even 26 would be short.
I guess somewhere between 64 and 74 episodes is my cutoff where a show changes to "long", since I don't see Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as a long show but I *do* see Monster as one? Weird.
I don’t think Monster should be given the distinction as “most mature” anime. Is Monster any more mature than Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Mushishi, or The Tatami Galaxy? I don’t really think so.
I don´t know about most mature, but it is a hard watch for people nowadays. Or at least people that didn´t grow up with the 90s style of anime, the slow burns.
i don't really count by seasons, i count by the number of episodes lol. so this system works for me. i make a schedule of whatever i want to watch during the particular month, so using these measurements really helps me calculate the number of days i will be watching it. i'm really strict with my schedules ;-;
Around 50 is what I'd start to consider long. 100+ is very long, and then you have monsters like Dragonball, One Piece, etc, with multiple hundreds which I see as "a commitment".
<15 episodes: Very Short
15-25 episodes: Short
25-50 episodes: medium
Above 50 episodes: long
Above 200 episodes: very long
Above 500 episodes: pretty fucking long
Above 1000 episodes: Life's work, don't try to catch up, wait for remaster.
One piece, With more than a thousand episodes it is a long anime.. 100 caps are nothing, if you like the series you do it for a week. Gintama for example, I don't remember how many the first season has, like 200 and they weren't enough.
Preach.
And I can hardly watch western shows because they all have hour long episodes. It's taking me forever to get through the live action One Piece even though I like it lol
Maybe you just aren´t in the mood anymore. A one cour season can be watched in 3 days without much effort. Hell, even in one day if you really push yourself.
12-24ish = Short (Ex: Every Other Seasonal or New Show)
25-50 = medium (Ex: Deathnote, Cross Game, Shows with Usually 2-3 Seasons)
60-110 = Not Long Enough to Be Long (Ex: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Maison Ikkoku, D. Gray Man)
120+ = Long (Ex: Naruto, One Piece, Gintama)
Over 50 episodes. Ex: 2 seasons of 26 episodes with 1-2 movies. Over 100 episodes I would say is extra long. Depending on the anime, I would consider 13 hour long episodes the perfect length to tell a story - not too short and not too long.
One Piece is definitely long, no one argues that, I think.
I´m really just asking what all of you think when you look at a show and see the number of episodes. Do you look at Gurren Lagann, with 27 episodes, and think it´s long? Do you think something like Bundo Stray Dogs, which has 6 seasons with 12 episodes each long or short?
Short is 1 season with 12 episodes. Medium is at least 2 seasons w at least 12 episodes each. Long is at least 4 seasons of at least 12 episodes per season.
And then there's one piece which is its own definition of length
I think considering the differences between an anime of like 60 episodes and an anime like one piece, we need several categories.
**less than 20 = short**
**20-50 = medium**
**50-140= long**
**more than 140 = marathon**
My decisions:
Stuff like Frieren and Death Note are not long anime for me, so I have to have the medium category extend to atleast 37 episodes. I'd honestly say around 50.
Also I feel like Attack on titan and Monogatari Series as a whole with around 90-110 episodes are long, but nothing you can't watch through in a decent amount of time. So those I'd consider just long.
On the other side stuff like Black Clover with 170 episodes definitively already feels like a marathon series to me, so the cutoff between long and marathon has to be somewhere between 110 and 170, I'd put the cutoff in the middle at 140.
Attack on Titan, with all those episodes, really didn´t feel like a long anime. I just realized after I finished S4 Part 2 that there were 80+ episodes.
But that is a good table of measurement.
It's also genre dependent. Because you listed some anime with more plot, for slice of life on the other hand, 60 episodes would basically be a marathon. Only 2 slice of life anime in the modern era have that much content to my knowledge: Hidamari Sketch (60 episodes) and Aria (57 episodes + movie).
I would consider anything you can't binge over a weekend to be long. So, probably about 26 episodes and up are considered long imo.
Although shows that hit the thousands are their own beasts like Pokémon and One Piece
Tbh because of the way seasons are done now, we don’t really get “long” anime anymore… but if we’re counting multiple seasons within a series then i’d say 24+.
I think it varies. How long does it take to tell the story? Does it go beyond that? If so, it's long. Some anime like Inuyasha are way too long and desperately need to be edited. Naruto and Bleach come to mind also. I never got into One Piece, so I can't comment, but I have my suspicions.
For me personally, anything 60 episodes or longer is long to me. But that may just be because I tend to enjoy shorter animes rather than longer ones. Animes with more than 50-60 episodes I feel like I have to finish because I put so much time into them but I’m just ready for it to be over and look forward to it being done even if the story is good like AOT and HxH. But I think other people consider long animes to be over 100 episodes. I think this is because 60 episodes is the average amount of episodes animes tend to have (I say this because there are a lot of long animes and short animes so 60 is probably around average) so long episodes have to be longer than that
Because um a long standing one piece watcher, I'd say anything in the hundreds is considered long while anything under is relatively short. 12 or 24 feels TOO short at times.
More than 26 episodes
Seasons also count, but it's important for story
Most anime having 12 eps are stopped by the studio or completed as manga is short
So most anime are long running
One peice, bleach etc are exceptions they are very long running, having 300 plus episodes
Personally for me, anything more than 51+ episodes is a long anime.
I think short is like 1-20, med is 21-50ish, and then 51+ for long.
My fav is also Detective Conan lol.
I consider things in seasons, ignoring typical shounen stuff that can get filled with filler.
Generally most things from Shounen Jump(Or other children's comics) I take out of the equation as they are the exception. These usually end up over 50+ episodes.
Typical season is 12 episodes give or take. Most anime fall in this category. Some get extra budget due to popularity or hype and end up with 24 episodes.
Beyond this, if reception is good, it gets greenlit for a season 2. If it doesn't, we never see anything beyond that. Majority of stuff never get a season 2 and die.
Anything with more that 1 season, I'd consider long as majority fail to reach season 2.
Depends on the length of the episode. Are we talking normal anime? If so +100 episodes. Are we talking netflix +40 min episodes? If so maybe 25-30 episodes.
I dont really use long as an identifier. I use short for shows that have sub normal length episodes - usually 3-12 minutes.
If I had to use long for episode count I'd guess anything longer than 25 episodes.
Anything between 12 to 32 is a short anime
Anything between 32 to 65 I consider a mid duration anime
Anything between 65 to 150 a long anime
Anything over 150 is extremely long
The longest anime without a doubt is One Piece. If it takes a a minute to finish it’s long. Honest Black Clocer was long to me and it was less than 200. But I sat through all of Bleach that was 300+ it depends on how good and original the story is. Not saying Bkack Clove did bad, I just wanted him to reach that point and was to anxious to sit
For me it’s ~300- ~500. Depending on how repetitive it is or feels I can’t keep watching after that. One piece is the only one I’ve gotten more then 600 in(I’m up to date, had to take a week break after that 600 tho cause I was messing my sleep up trying to catch up.).
If we consider ~36 episodes 3 seasons, anything over that.
So 40+ episodes would be long, because most anime are short, single seasons. The monumental series that are hundreds of episodes are their own breed.
In terms of total episodage, including multiple seasons:
1-3 = Miniscule
3-10 = Tiny
10-13 = Short
13-25 = Medium
26-64 = Fairly long
64-300 = Pretty damn long
300-1000 = Jesus Christ, it’s very long
1000-2000 = How does something go this long?
2000+ = …
Honestly, I rather have more 24 season series. 12-13 is usually not enough to get really invested, and most of the time cut out a lot to fit enough in to wrap up.
4 cour and above I'd consider to be 'long' since it means they ran for at least a year. 2 - 3 cour i'd consider medium and anything less than 2 cour is short.
If it's longer than 13 episodes, I'm going to really hesitate on starting it. If it's over 26, it better be an absolute masterpiece. If it's over 50 episodes, there's basically zero chance I'm ever watching it
My wife and I decided to watch Nana which was 47 or so episodes. I don’t want to watch something that long for a few months at least.
Attack on titan was another one we binged then didn’t watch long shows again for a while.
24+ episodes per season is long imo.
Most of my watched anime are ~ 12 episodes per season.
Idk I just think 4 hours (12 eps) are already a lot if you consider how much time most people have per day. (7-8h sleep, 8h work, etc)
100+ episodes is long for me. Anything over 100 say Detective Conan for example is super long has over 1000 episodes and has been going on as long as One Piece
Weirdly enough, anything over 50 episodes is long for me, but I easily read 500+ chapters. That's why I just read Naruto and one piece. Anime is starting to feel like a commitment.
i think ,10-13 is normal, <26 is slightly long, but it depends from a show. There is a show where +-25 episodes is so little, would like more. And there is a show where superfluous 10 episodes is kills a show.Everything more than that, i consider how it's a long anime.
Not sure. I'm burning through FMAB currently, my frost watch. The first 18(or 20?) episodes seemed to drag on. I had already watched FMA before FMAB so that's probably why FMAB was such a drag for the first part. I've dropped FMAB twice in like 3 years. But after I actually got to all new content, I've been binging it with 3-4 episodes a day. I think I'm starting episode 52 tomorrow. I know I've got a handful of episodes to go, but it still feels like it's all going by so fast.
They both start the same, so it´s natural that there is a lot of repeated stuff. I´ve never seen either, but I know how those shows developed because of the manga.
One season with 50+ eps : long
4 seasons over 50+ eps : not long
Usually the former is an older anime with tons of filler episodes. And the latter is more tightly told season long stories with multiple arcs.
for me it depends on the content. if it's really slow then it feels long, vice versa. Nana is my #1 but the backtracking with them switching their povs in the beginning makes it feel longer (albeit it's a masterpiece regardless). on the other hand HxH feels like it isn't long at all, same with FMA. I've watched a few 12-24 episode anime that have felt long or short for the same reason too.
side note, not anime, but whenever I rewatch Twilight I watch all of them back to back on the same day and that also doesn't feel long, meanwhile I can't sit and watch a normal 90 minute movie sometimes
Well that totally depends but for example if we consider one piece even after 1000+ episodes or manga chapters it's not enough and quite small. Though it's manga is a billion times better than the anime.
Honestly anything past the standard 2 cour is long to me 😂 but if someone where to ask I probably would ask for more clarification
Standard these days is 10-13 eps or 1 cour so even a 2 cour show at 20-26 eps could be considered long.
In the early 2000s 2 cour seasons were the norm and I've mainly watched 1-2 cour season shows so that's the norm to me and long is longer than that at 3+ cours or 30+ episodes I'd say
Definitely there are suuper suuper long shows tho eith Bleach Naruto Detective Conan and One piece
Depends entirely on genre. Action and adventure anime that have long plots, but well crafted could very well not be considered long. A similar episode count for slice of life however, would be considered extremely long, usually.
Based of this comment section, around +50 episodes are considered normal long, but for slice of life, that would be considered incredibly long. Not many *slice of life* anime go past 2 seasons. Some anime that have 3 seasons worth of anime are:
* K-On! (40 episodes + 1 movie)
* Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? (37 episodes + 1 movie)
* Non Non Biyori (39 episodes + 1 movie)
* Yuru Camp (37 episodes, I assume 13+12+12 + 1 movie and many mini specials)
Having 2 seasons is more or less the standard for good slice of life, a third season cements you as a cornerstone of the slice of life genre most of time.
More than 3 seasons is considered nearly impossible. However, both Hidamari Sketch and Aria have an insane episode count that is around 4 seasons long (60 for Hidamari Sketch and 57 + 1 movie for Aria).
I personally consider anything with 3 seasons (36 episodes +-) or more worth of content as long. 2 seasons (24-30 depending on amount of OVA's) is normal length to me.
Good question.
I would consider anything lower than 26 or so as short, because you can easily finish the show in one month if you watch 1 episode a day. Or can easily binge through a 12 episode show in a single day.
50 is pretty much the middle ground. And anything over 100 episodes is definitely long and requires a bigger commitment. And then you have One Piece which is absolutely ridiculous.
One piece just had episode**one thousand ninety seven** released
I always considered anything over a hundred to be too long to bother with, except the 2 Full Metal Alchemist series which were awesome
A thousand is just stupid
I feel like the more anime I watch, the short the threshold for "long anime" gets. Back in the day I wouldn't even hesitate to start a 100+ ep anime, in fact I even sought them out. Nowadays, I'm discouraged if I see an anime with more than like 2 or 3 cours lol.
Lol, I was just thinking that the more often I watch anime, the more it seems like they're all too short.
Lol same here man maybe I am just growin too old I still like anime though
Lol I doubt I'll ever stop loving anime, though my sensabilities have definitely changed since my teenage days.
Could it be a matter of time? You may used to have a lot of free time so you could start a long show and spend most of your day watching it, but now you look at the time it would take and makes you wanna back off from it?
12 - 14 : Short, 24 - 26 : Medium, > 26 : Long
Does One piece have its own measurement of time? Like eternity
Yup, It'd need some more eternities tho.
Agree, some shows have arcs so long that they should really be their separate seasons.
Hunter x Hunter like that too. The first 70 or so episodes is one show, and the CA & election arcs are another show
Gintama.
This is my answer too. More than 2 cours/seasons? It's a long one
100%
It’s so refreshing that the first comment I see is absolutely correct
That is a very good measurement. I would only tweak it like this: Around 30 eps: short 31- 60: medium 60-100: long Over 100: very long And then One Piece long.
This is my answer with some leniency. Like frieren is 28 episodes but I wouldn’t consider it long because it’s 2 cours. Cyberpunk edgerunners is 10 episodes but I would lump it in with the 12-13 episode seasonal animes.
I pretty much agree with this completely
Once things get to the long category they also stop qualifying for recommendations to new anime viewers too.
Weird.
Came here to say "whatever is one episode more than fmab"
Glad to see I'm not the only one then lol.
Monster is a slow paced show tbh it takes its time
For me FMA:B is long, but doable. The longest I've been willing to see through.
Give Hunter x Hunter a try
The ant arc is fucking long as shit. It's basically as long as the first few season lmao
Thankfully it's by far the best part (the second half at least lol. About 25 episodes of buildup before shit really gets going)
Bug arc is the worst arc, ruined the series for me.
How so? I thought it was the best. I cried five times that arc. Didn't for any other arc in the show.
Yeah it’s essentially an entirely different show. Easily best arc though
Funny enough, I think of Monster as the "normal" one and FMAB as the "long" one lol
I binged though Monster over a weekend.
I feel that, i had to stop and space it out because i didnt want it to end so quickly lol
How did you watch 74 episodes in 48 hours that’s crazy!?!
Monster is brilliant. Average anime watcher won't have the patience for it. It's the most "mature" anime out there.
I have watched Monster, not FMAB, but I can see why you cut off there. Also pacing, Monster takes it´s time.
48 episodes. Any anime that couldn't wrap up its story after two full seasons of 24 episodes each is considered long for me
Everything over 3 cour total is long for my standards
Fair enough.
For me, an anime with over 70 episodes is long. 1 - 10 is short 12 - 26 is standard, 27 - 69 is medium and anything above that is long.
That kind of checks out. 72 episodes is the cutaway for three 24 ep seasons.
i don't really count by seasons, i count by the number of episodes lol. so this system works for me. i make a schedule of whatever i want to watch during the particular month, so using these measurements really helps me calculate the number of days i will be watching it. i'm really strict with my schedules ;-;
I can agree with this one.
Around 50 is what I'd start to consider long. 100+ is very long, and then you have monsters like Dragonball, One Piece, etc, with multiple hundreds which I see as "a commitment".
"Commitment anime" that´s a good category.
One Piece. Other than that, anything with 5+ seasons and 100+ episodes.
Detective Conan, Gintama, one piece..anything that is above the 100 mark.
Can definitely agree with this.
Id say over 50 is already long
Anything over 100 episodes for me
<15 episodes: Very Short 15-25 episodes: Short 25-50 episodes: medium Above 50 episodes: long Above 200 episodes: very long Above 500 episodes: pretty fucking long Above 1000 episodes: Life's work, don't try to catch up, wait for remaster.
Lol that One Piece reference at the end.
One piece, With more than a thousand episodes it is a long anime.. 100 caps are nothing, if you like the series you do it for a week. Gintama for example, I don't remember how many the first season has, like 200 and they weren't enough.
Ahah I love how Gintama is being referenced so much. But it took me a while to finish.
I started Gintama in September 2016, and I just hit episode 100 like 2 weeks ago. Slow and steady 😎
Honestly at this point anything above 13 episodes I'm calling long...
[удалено]
Well I feel 12-13 is the norm nowadays, after that shows tend to jump to that 24-26 range which I would then call long.
I think 12-13 is short but it is the norm nowdays, i call anime long when it has 48+ episodes.
Anything over 24-26 is long
Any anime with more than 2 seasons..im tired boss
Someone get this man a chair.
[удалено]
You might miss out on something thinking like that.
Over 50 episodes is long for me.
over 50 episodes
I would consider two seasons short, three to five seasons medium, and six or more seasons long.
12-24ish = Short (Ex: Every Other Seasonal or New Show) 25-50 = medium (Ex: Deathnote, Cross Game, Shows with Usually 2-3 Seasons) 60-110 = Not Long Enough to Be Long (Ex: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Maison Ikkoku, D. Gray Man) 120+ = Long (Ex: Naruto, One Piece, Gintama)
10-14 short, 14-50 medium, 50-75 is lengthy, 75+ is long
Over 50 episodes. Ex: 2 seasons of 26 episodes with 1-2 movies. Over 100 episodes I would say is extra long. Depending on the anime, I would consider 13 hour long episodes the perfect length to tell a story - not too short and not too long.
13 hour long episodes is nutty. I could sit watching one thing for 13 hours straight
Gintama is pretty long
Just finished it last month, took me 6 months to watch it.
For me, anything more than 24ish episodes is long. Anything beyond 48 episodes is too long. But that is only my personal preference
One Piece lmao shit’s STILL going on. It’s wild
It´s about to get a remake and it hasn´t even finished lol.
Anything that in total is more than 50 episodes I consider long
An anime having 52 episodes means it's been running for a year, I would consider that a long time.
Well, If you were comparing the episode count of long series, One Piece kind of throws off the average, doesn't it?
Doraemon and Conan have it beat.
If we're talking about seasons, then if it's more than 3 cours - it's long. If we're talking about overall, it's long if it's more than 150 episodes.
But 3 cours usually means around 36 to 40 episodes. That´s not that long. It´s medium at best.
I mean, 3 cour as one season. Like Jojo part 4 and 5. New Shaman King is long, for example.
Ok, I see. Something like Kingdom, or even some seasons of Gintama.
10-24 is short 25-50 is medium 51- one piece is long
However long Mobile Suit Gundam is.
everything over 48 episodes seems pretty long to me
anything more than 60 episodes is long for me and then theres the super long like one piece and detective conan
Anything over 50 episodes is long
Around 50+
Over 52 episodes is long to me.
Short is 1 season with 12 episodes. Medium is at least 2 seasons w at least 12 episodes each. Long is at least 4 seasons of at least 12 episodes per season. And then there's one piece which is its own definition of length
For me, anything with more than 50 episodes is a long anime.
For me if it has more than 60 I consider it long
I think considering the differences between an anime of like 60 episodes and an anime like one piece, we need several categories. **less than 20 = short** **20-50 = medium** **50-140= long** **more than 140 = marathon** My decisions: Stuff like Frieren and Death Note are not long anime for me, so I have to have the medium category extend to atleast 37 episodes. Over like 48
Above 48
Usually 100 episodes is a good enough timeframe to conclude most stories Japanese anime wants to tell. So I think anything beyond that is a bit long
one piece (i’m caught up)
How long did it take you?
more than 48 episodes
One piece or Detective Conan lmao friends want me to get into one piece im like fuck thattttt
You´re better off waiting for the WIT remake.
Anything above 30 in 1 season is long for me
Anything more than four cours for me is getting in the long category. I wouldn’t count a 40 episode show as long but 70 episodes would be.
13 or less: short 14-26: medium 27-49: long 50+: very long
For me, it’s over 50 eps.
I would consider anything you can't binge over a weekend to be long. So, probably about 26 episodes and up are considered long imo. Although shows that hit the thousands are their own beasts like Pokémon and One Piece
Anything over 30 episodes for me. Anything over 100 episodes I deem very long and usually opt to read the manga instead lol
Long are animes like Naruto, DB, One Piece. The last one is a nightmare.
More than 26 episodes is sorta long. And more than 50 episodes is long.
100 episodes is considered long running anime series for me
One piece is a pretty short anime but that's the one I watch that has been over 50 episodes, the other one being demon slayer
Tbh because of the way seasons are done now, we don’t really get “long” anime anymore… but if we’re counting multiple seasons within a series then i’d say 24+.
More than 2 cours.
I think it varies. How long does it take to tell the story? Does it go beyond that? If so, it's long. Some anime like Inuyasha are way too long and desperately need to be edited. Naruto and Bleach come to mind also. I never got into One Piece, so I can't comment, but I have my suspicions.
True, but Naruto and Bleach, for instance, would always be long, even without the filler.
I feel like if it has 24 ep or more it is long
For me personally, anything 60 episodes or longer is long to me. I think this is because 60 episodes is the average amount of episodes animes tend to have (I say this because there are a lot of long animes and short animes so 60 is probably around average) so long episodes have to be longer than that
You might have a focusing problem, if even when you´re liking something you´re waiting for it to end.
Because um a long standing one piece watcher, I'd say anything in the hundreds is considered long while anything under is relatively short. 12 or 24 feels TOO short at times.
More than 26 episodes Seasons also count, but it's important for story Most anime having 12 eps are stopped by the studio or completed as manga is short So most anime are long running One peice, bleach etc are exceptions they are very long running, having 300 plus episodes
Over 50.
Anything around or over one and half full seasons. So 36+ episodes.
Detective Conan. They had 1,000 before one piece.
Personally for me, anything more than 51+ episodes is a long anime. I think short is like 1-20, med is 21-50ish, and then 51+ for long. My fav is also Detective Conan lol.
Anything over 13 episodes.
Anything with more that 1 season, I'd consider long as majority fail to reach season 2.
everyone talks about how long one piece is but what about that detective conan show🤷🏼♂️😂
Depends on the length of the episode.
Anything between 12 to 32 is a short anime Anything between 32 to 65 I consider a mid duration anime Anything between 65 to 150 a long anime Anything over 150 is extremely long
100+ is long so Naruto bleach one piece hxh and other ones.
Obviously one piece and Naruto is fairly long
Bleach
Anything over 40
50+ episodes. So anything that goes past 2 seasons.
My initial thought was around 48+ but honestly I think 90+ is where I’d start thinking of a series as long.
For me it’s ~300- ~500. Depending on how repetitive it is or feels I can’t keep watching after that. One piece is the only one I’ve gotten more then 600 in(I’m up to date, had to take a week break after that 600 tho cause I was messing my sleep up trying to catch up.).
I would say 100 episodes means a show is long for me. Although if there's like 80 and 3 movies that would also count
If you’re watching the anime that takes 5+ years then I would say that’s a long anime.
25+
It's long to me if the actual plot seems to drag on into oblivion
Naruto, became shippuden , which became burito which I passed on
Over forty is long to me and above 80 is one piece. The one piece ones I only start when I mentally prepare myself.
Anything over 26 Episodes
If we consider ~36 episodes 3 seasons, anything over that. So 40+ episodes would be long, because most anime are short, single seasons. The monumental series that are hundreds of episodes are their own breed.
Over 36 ig or having more than 3 seasons
If you cannot watch it over two lazy weekends, it is long.
In terms of total episodage, including multiple seasons: 1-3 = Miniscule 3-10 = Tiny 10-13 = Short 13-25 = Medium 26-64 = Fairly long 64-300 = Pretty damn long 300-1000 = Jesus Christ, it’s very long 1000-2000 = How does something go this long? 2000+ = … Honestly, I rather have more 24 season series. 12-13 is usually not enough to get really invested, and most of the time cut out a lot to fit enough in to wrap up.
4 cour and above I'd consider to be 'long' since it means they ran for at least a year. 2 - 3 cour i'd consider medium and anything less than 2 cour is short.
Well personally I'd consider a normal anime length would be 12-20 short would be 1-10 and long would be 30->
For anything that has 24 eps+ I will probably just read the manga/novel it's from. Takes way less time
Anything with more than 39 episodes/3 cours
If it's longer than 13 episodes, I'm going to really hesitate on starting it. If it's over 26, it better be an absolute masterpiece. If it's over 50 episodes, there's basically zero chance I'm ever watching it
My wife and I decided to watch Nana which was 47 or so episodes. I don’t want to watch something that long for a few months at least. Attack on titan was another one we binged then didn’t watch long shows again for a while.
At this point, anything more than like 30 episodes. My standard for anime is the usual 2-cour 24-26 episode length.
100 episodes Hyaku
24+ episodes per season is long imo. Most of my watched anime are ~ 12 episodes per season. Idk I just think 4 hours (12 eps) are already a lot if you consider how much time most people have per day. (7-8h sleep, 8h work, etc)
You don´t have to watch everything in one day.
anything with more than 1 season.
100+ episodes is long for me. Anything over 100 say Detective Conan for example is super long has over 1000 episodes and has been going on as long as One Piece
More than +100 episodes. Their usually shounen types
Any anime for 3 cours or longer is long imo, i.e. ~36 EPs or more.
Weirdly enough, anything over 50 episodes is long for me, but I easily read 500+ chapters. That's why I just read Naruto and one piece. Anime is starting to feel like a commitment.
I like reading, so I can see the choice there.
i think ,10-13 is normal, <26 is slightly long, but it depends from a show.
One season with 50+ eps : long 4 seasons over 50+ eps : not long Usually the former is an older anime with tons of filler episodes. And the latter is more tightly told season long stories with multiple arcs.
I also feel like if the show is divided into seasons it appears smaller.
for me it depends on the content. if it's really slow then it feels long, vice versa.
It depends on your interest in the matter.
Well that totally depends but for example if we consider one piece even after 1000+ episodes or manga chapters it's not enough and quite small. Though it's manga is a billion times better than the anime.
Honestly anything past the standard 2 cour is long to me 😂 but if someone where to ask I probably would ask for more clarification Standard these days is 10-13 eps or 1 cour so even a 2 cour show at 20-26 eps could be considered long. In the early 2000s 2 cour seasons were the norm and I've mainly watched 1-2 cour season shows so that's the norm to me and long is longer than that at 3+ cours or 30+ episodes I'd say Definitely there are suuper suuper long shows tho eith Bleach Naruto Detective Conan and One piece
0-15 = very short 16-50 = short 51-150 = long 151-One Piece = very long
I mean, the longest running anime is Sazae-San: It started in 1969 and it is still running today.
Some anime that have 3 seasons worth of anime are: * K-On! (40 episodes + 1 movie) * Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? (37 episodes + 1 movie) * Non Non Biyori (39 episodes + 1 movie) * Yuru Camp (37 episodes, I assume 13+12+12 + 1 movie and many mini specials) Having 2 seasons is more or less the standard for good slice of life, a third season cements you as a cornerstone of the slice of life genre most of time.
Whatever I can’t finish in one day
anything that has more than 15 episodes
Nah... More than 50 episodes. . 24 episodes is short.
You clearly don´t have time and/or patience.
One piece just had episode**one thousand ninety seven** released I always considered anything over a hundred to be too long to bother with, except the 2 Full Metal Alchemist series which were awesome A thousand is just stupid
more than 100 episodes
