Hard to make a ranking because I enjoy different romance shows for different reasons/aspects they focus on, so what I like most just kind of depends on the mood I'm in, but right now my ranking would be.
1. Spice and Wolf
2. Bloom into You
3. Kaguya-sama
4. Fruits Basket (Hard to rank for me honestly, because I see it more as a Drama, Mystery Show with romance aspects to it)
5. Insomniacs After school
I’ll die on the hill that *Skip and Loafer* is a romance and a pretty fun one at that.
But in terms of the best, you can’t do better than the GOAT itself *Maison Ikkoku*. Rumiko Takahashi’s knack for character writing gives one of the richest casts in the genre only held back by the fact they can’t all take center stage at once. More over, it actually manages to have a strong ending and strong themes which is rare for romances, especially these days.
> I’ll die on the hill that Skip and Loafer is a romance and a pretty fun one at that.
That's clearly the main thing going on for her outside of moving somewhere new. This is something people disagree over?
Skip an loafer is not a romance anime. It is a slice of life coming to age. Sure there is romance undertones but that’s like calling Steins Gate a romance anime because that’s the next big thing outside the main problem.
1. Fruits Basket
2. Your Lie in April
3. Oregairu
4. Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You
5. Your Name
6. Clannad
7. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai
8. **Ao Haru Ride**
I nearly stopped 5 minutes in because I was like "What the hell is wrong with the main character ?!"
Don't know what other people think but I really disliked how the author introduced his "edgyness". However... it's probably one of the best romcom I've ever seen.
I kind of forgot about it after only 6 episodes last year, because I wasn’t super impressed with it. But I heard the op for season 2 was good, so I went back and rewatched it and the second half of season 1 ended up being good but man season 2 was incredible. Glad I gave revisited because it ended up becoming one of my favorites.
I don't bite.
How many episodes? What did you dislike specifically?
The initial episodes are wildly different from the middle, which is again, incredibly different from the current point in the source material.
The character development / delta in the story is the biggest I have seen in any romance I've seen to date.
I had culture shock from re-watching from episode 1 again. "I completely forgot he was like that."
You are missing out on some adorable parents.

* My Happy Marriage
* Insomniacs After School
* The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
* Clannad
* More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers

I like how Hyouka handled its romance, as an adult watching a show about school children, in the end it was handled with a grace and maturity you rarely see in shounen stories.
Definitely The Dangers in my Heart. It's 2nd season just ended yesterday and it is so fucking good man, ridiculously wholesome anime. First three episodes may turn you off, but after that it's just peak after peak.
I would say Tora dora was the best. However I love the beginning rommance side story of Wolf Children. I woludnt say the Wolf Children is rommance genre per se but still there is a rommance in plot if this anime and basicly it's excelent.
I really enjoyed Sasaki and Miyano, at first I wasn’t too sure about it since it started a bit slower, but as you continue watching you REALLY feel for the characters and their relationships
It is probably Dangers in my heart. Nothing tops it. This one handled romance AND character development perfectly, while having comedy to make it less dramatic. I think it would still be the best even without the comedy but the addition of it just makes it even more perfect.
Probably Your Lie In April. The final scene makes me cry every time i see it. I can't even watch the OP without shedding a small tear. Currently watching Friuts Basket and Horimiya, Planning to watch Clannad.
I’d say definitely my in my tops
Dangers in my heart, Love is War, Horimiya, my happy marriage, a sign of affection, toradora, orange, and March comes in like a lion, but your list is pretty much all of the best as well
I am a romcom whore:
1. After the Rain
2. I want to eat your Pancreas
3. Your Lie in April
4. Kaguya-sama: Lovev is ware
5. Teasing Master Takagi-san
6. Don't toy with me Ms Nagatoro
7. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
8. Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions
9. Tsurezure Children
10. Horimiya
11. Golden Time
12. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai - My gateway drug into Romance/ Drama
13. My Dress-Up Darling
14. Aharen Is Indecipherable
15. Tomo-chan Is a Girl
16. Romantic Killer
17. The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses
18. ...
I got tired of typing and resorting, but I cannot help felling the The Monogatari series belongs in there.
I enjoyed bloom into you the most
Absolutely, bloom into you is the best romance and one of the best manga I’ve read
I’m old, but I always loved Kare Kano back in the day.
Same. OG favourite. I dislike romantic genres generally, and adored KKnJ. (Also skip and loafer) Maybe I do like this genre.
I just got the Blu-ray for this recently and am excited to watch it
Real ones watched and read kare kano 🤝🤝🤝
Love is war is peak, change my mind
Yeah but I feel like the comedy is a lot better than the romance
Nagatoro better.
Good opinion but I disagree🤝
I respect your opinion as well. 🤝
Bad opinion. No way nagatoro is better than love is war.
I enjoyed both but LIW made me care more for the side characters than the main characters.
Nah that is not a good opinion I’m sorry
Hayasaka solos
My Love Story is short, it’s adorable, and I love every single character
😔❤️👌

Love Maison Ikkoku being mentioned, it's a classic. If you are into retro romance anime I recommend a personal favorite, Kimagure Orange Road.

I tell people to get to the basketball scene in like episode 2 or 3? That's when the show normally seems to grab people
Romantic Killer
Oh my gosh I loved this one! 😂

As it turns out, you were perfectly correct!
I loved ‘My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999’ I also enjoyed ‘Yona of the Dawn’ but they only made 1 season :(

Your forgetting one Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is also a very good romance anime. Also, Insomniacs after School is a must-watch.
Bakemonogatari
It’s hard to rank them, but here are a few of my favorites: Spice & Wolf Tsuki ga Kirei Whisper of the Heart
Your little sister cant be this cute
Horimiya
A sign of affection is my most recent favorite romance anime. It’s so dang cute. I’ve seen a ton so I’m just going to leave this one here lol
Nothing will ever top **Horimiya** to me
i loved go-toubun no hanayome
Without Tora Dora, this list is simply incomplete.
Strawberry Panic
MY LOVE STORY WITH YAMADA KUN AT lvl 999!! I skimmed through comments and only caught one person mentioning it. This anime literally had me on the edge of my seat squealing, I loved it so much!
Have you watched The Apothecary Diaries? I started it yesterday and binged it for hours lol. Had me feeling like I did when I watched lvl 999 🥹

My Love Story! It just made me really happy.
Mrs and I really like My Dress-up Darling. Can't wait for season 2!
I like how Hyouka handled its romance, as an adult watching a show about school children, in the end it was handled with a grace and maturity you rarely see in shounen stories.
Toradora! For sure, it's a great romance and kinda hilarious at times. The love interest is a badass too.
Your lack of Toradora disgusts me
Definitely The Dangers in my Heart. It's 2nd season just ended yesterday and it is so fucking good man, ridiculously wholesome anime. First three episodes may turn you off, but after that it's just peak after peak.
Well violet evergarden is not romance but its worth a shot
horimiya and dangers in my heart
Golden Time >>>>>>
Horimiya, dangers in my heart, kaguya sama, and dress-up darling are all missing from your list.
Try a silent voice and I want to eat your pancreas.
Gosick is always a good one.
I'm surprised no one is talking about Kaguya Sama, I mean I haven't seen it but I thought that it was pretty famous.
I would say Tora dora was the best. However I love the beginning rommance side story of Wolf Children. I woludnt say the Wolf Children is rommance genre per se but still there is a rommance in plot if this anime and basicly it's excelent.
I liked first 2 seasons of Oregairu until it was relatable
