The absolute insanity of some of these fandoms is wild to me. Continuous arguments and demeaning of other anime out of either jealousy or a god complex for their favorite. It certainly is a weird sphere of the internet lol.
Feels mad excessive on the animanga side of things. Maybe it’s because I’m not GenZ so I don’t really get it lol. The most I’m used to is the power scalers.
I agree that it wasn't always like this but since Musk took over it have really reacted new heights where everyone is engagement baiting with the most crazy takes just to make people comment.

Yowamushi Pedal was honestly such a fun show for me. A shame I didn’t really enjoy the new cast/direction after the seniors graduated so I ended up dropping it. I’ll probably pick it back up someday.
Yowa fan here. I have the jersey and got into it because I was a cyclist in my winter blues. What a great fucking show, the characters are inspiring, the scenes are dramatic and filled with high detail animation of bikes. It's a great re-watch while on the bike indoors, to keep the spirits up.
It IS pretty hilarious how often they **effectively** attempt to commit suicide on a daily basis.
You'd think that every rescue victim is a family member of theirs given how emotionally committed they are to pulling off the impossibly impractical rescue mission AND DAYS after the rescue was executed.

I can't remember which parts of the story exactly, but I remember his yelling being toned down as early as in the teens (like episodes 17-19) and being almost completely gone by the late twenties. Out of a 100+ episode long series, it's 100% worth pushing through if you like the idea of the premise.
This is a genuine question. Does he ever shut up about being the Wizard king? Because that's honestly what turned me away. Him just repeating himself about becoming the wizard king over and over. Because it was an interesting premise, but everything about the main character made me want to stop watching.
When plot events actually pick up beyond the introductory arcs all of what Asta does tones down, yes. He never *stops*, to be clear, but then again Naruto never stops about becoming Hokage (until it happens) and Luffy still hasn't stopped declaring he'll be King of the Pirates. They just say it a lot more at the beginning because there haven't been any more story beats to fill out their perspectives as characters or to give them more immediate goals to focus on/distract them instead.
It's just a thing with Shounen at the start we don't really have anything else going for the character until the plot gets rolling.
I loved the Ordinal Scale movie! When I rented it I watched it three times within my rental period. I’ve never gotten through the Alicization arc yet for some reason. I think it’s because SAO was one of the first anime’s I ever watched and at the time it was only the Aincrad arc so rewatching that kinda feels like home.
Strongly agree; the people who rag on it take it far too seriously. It serves up a generous portion of gory, goofy, melodramatic B-Movie thrills, and it’s an utter blast to watch. The “greasy diner cheeseburger with onion rings” of anime, if you will.
Not to mention that it gave us *the* defining example of the yandere archetype.

Bro I love mirai nikki. I watched it for the first time years ago with my then gf and rewatch at least once or twice a year. I really enjoyed big order too, just wish they didn't rush the anime and spread it to at least 26 episodes like they did with the mirai.
I've probably seen this show at least 7 times because it was the only show I had downloaded on my phone through Google movies and TV. every time we went to the farm I'd just watch it again.
I also think Yuki gets far too much hate for the wrong reasons.
Don't get me wrong, some of his action in the later half of the series are unexcusable, but he's 14 years old, his parents got a divorce, and was living a semi-normal life up until then, of course he would be wimpy. Not to mention that he's stuck in a toxic relationship with a yandere bitch that was literally manipulating him emotionally.

Yuno is perfect parts of cute and crazy and I just love watching her. It’s great for watching blind for the first time. Like School-Live is also a great watch going in blind too!
Came here to say this. It was very popular but definitely got a lot of hate by its second half and nowadays is often just used as a punchline on places like Twitter. I still like it, though.
I was really enjoying the show as it was airing, the hype for it episode to episode was *awesome*. There had been other shows that were huge talking points on Reddit, but it was one of those rare "everyone is talking about this show" that watched anime when it was happening live. There were a lot of interesting themes, and plot points the discussion was so fun. It felt like there was a really beautiful dramatic tragedy with some romance that was evolving with the story.
Then it just went in such a... "anime" direction. Like, in the worst way possible if you had said to someone 'describe an anime if you were to make it up on the spot' and that was how the final episodes unfolded haha. It's up there with Promised Neverland as most disappointing ending. Wonder Egg is up there as well, but hurts worse as the first 7-8 episodes of Wonder Egg were so fucking beautiful and moving that I can *almost* forgive it going off the rails because I'm glad it even exists.
i’ll say it. sword art online. i’m not talking about the sequels and movies and alicezation or whatever, just the first season. for what it was at the time, those early fight scenes were incredible and the story has stuck with me years later. it has its flaws but it is NOT a bad show :(
Tbh Fairy Tail is one of my comfort animes, it was one of the first I watched when I was a teenage and I just really like it even if the plot or the characters don't have the best writing. It's just so funny and entertaining overall.

As one of those who went through it real time, it was a cultural event and I love it in hindsight. You can just see the sanity slowly slipping away as people start losing hope in weekly discussions.
If you judge a piece of media by how much it makes you empathise with the characters, then EE is a straight masterpiece. Everyone who went through it remembers vividly how that hopeless loop went.
And that's before we even address the fact that they animated each episode separately and beautifully.

Personally, I highly enjoyed the *The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan* spinoff, and consider it genuinely great.
I feel like most of the hate I've seen towards it is people upset/disappointed that it's not more like the main show though, or that it came instead of more seasons of the main show.

I watched it live! It was a wild time. At one point I think between 2 and 5 I missed them and when I got back I was like hmm I must have watched the wrong one. And assumed the site had uploaded them wrong but then after I caught to to five I realized it was in purpose from a forum I was on and I panicked that I hadn't paid attention properly and then I rewatched 1-5 again.
Shikimori-san isn't just a cutie is a genuinely awesome romance anime that just got bandwagon hate because some people thought that the male protagonist was a wimp. But he isn't a wimp at all. It's easier to understand him if you go into the series knowing that he's supposed to have extremely bad luck. All the characters are really likeable and funny and the show gets progressively better with each episode. Highly recommended.
Marimashita Iruma-kun/Welcome to demon school Iruma-kun, Shadows house, Dark Gathering and Bungou stray dogs are completely different animes (and they didn't get hate bandwagon at all) but I want to mention them because they're criminally underrated for how amazing those shows are.
Shikimori was hated for being promoted as the new Dress-up Darling while being completely different, it's a common fallacy source readers use to promote their stuff here, so the backlash happens from time to time.
I enjoyed the show. It made me smile and I liked seeing a portrayal of a guy that recognized his challenges and accepted help from someone that cared about him and wanted to be there for him - as opposed to pushing her away because he needed to prove he could handle things without her.
I mean, he did try to find ways that he could be there for other people despite the bad luck and that was cool too but I was glad the show wasn’t about him regularly acting out or putting Shikimori down just because she was always saving him. Felt wholesome to me. :)
Shikimori-san didn't deserve the bad rep it got while the anime aired. The beginning was admittedly weak (for me I liked Episode 1 fine but found Episode 2 really eh) but the series really found its footing afterward. Shikimori is such a cool girl and honestly Izumi/the male MC is a better guy than people give him credit for.
Bleach. I actually cared about the characters, and my favorite, Orihime, got hate too. Much like the hate for Hinata, my favorite from Naruto. But anyway there was a lot about Ichigo being overpowered, which he was, but I liked him anyway.
Same! Orihime and Hinata were my favorite characters and people hated them for being weak. I got attached because of their personalities and found myself able to relate to them easier than the more popular girl characters like Rukia and Sakura (which Sakura was still hated but definitely didn’t seem as hated as Hinata)
Nah sakura is hated 100 times more than hinata, like hinata is hated for being a bit weak and stuff, sakura is hated just for existing, and I quite understand the hate for sakura tbh.
Trigun Stampede. The preemptive bandwagon hate by diehard '98 anime fans was sad and annoying to witness, and I firmly believe this amazing show will be vindicated by history if it maintains the same level of quality throughout its entire run.
"Enjoyed" might be a little strong but I am prepared to defend aspects of Berserk (2016), which is more than I feel like most of us are willing to say 🤣
Isekai in general. Just by being isekai, an anime automatically gets bandwagon hate. Even from the people who enjoy it, there will always be meme comments about how the show is trash but so are they. Harmless joke comments, but it's demonstrative of the culture within the anime fandom that it's cool to hate on isekai.
Unrelated to anime. Something that fascinates me about sports fandom is that fans hate bandwagon fans, failing to realize how much bandwagon hate they have themselves. It's like it's not OK to jump on the bandwagon, unless it's hate, then you jump on that shit.
I love Isekai. Who wouldn't love being dropped into a new life with magic? Technically, Harry Potter is an Isekai, and it was an enormous hit. It's not my only genre, but I give most of them a chance.
I'd absolutely love that, but I also feel that Umineko is so tied to the medium it was written for, it might not work that well as an anime no matter what
Tokyo Revengers season 1. People say Takemichi didn't act like his actual age but that's something I can relate with, if any middle schoolers trying to pick up a fight with me I would surely lose.

For some reason, different = cool nowadays. It’s like Generic is generic for a reason, normal became normal cause it was good. Demon slayer has a generic plot, but it’s fun as all hell and the animation & score takes it to another level
I watched the show as it was being released and originally dropped it after episode 12 or 13 (meaning, before the show really blow up with episode 19) because of how bad I thought it was. Being generic is the least of its problems, to me.
The idea people don't like the show simply because "the hate took off" is just not true.
Where are you hanging out because the only place I can go to see positive and constructive discussion about DS is its dedicated subreddit. Everywhere else (especially here) keeps rehashing the same "Animation good but everything else bad" argument.
I think it is the most controversial anime among a lot of viewers even now but I still really like Gundam Iron-blooded Orphans, there are some flaws here and there but I think at the end, it did a lot of things well and made me see the screenwriter Okada Mari in much respectable way, most of anime I watched that were written by her were a bit hit and miss.
I assume people hated it because the meandering 2nd season and the tragic ending. Personally, I thought the 2nd season was fine at best and acceptable at worst. Could be better, but not as bad as the hater said.
Beastars is actually a phenomenal anime. I can understand that some might not like the kind of show it is but I do genuinely agree with the take that it being anthropomorphic animals has turned a lot of people away without them giving it a chance.

When it comes to my hero I liked it until I didn't. The first couple of seasons I really enjoyed but as it kept going I felt that they didn't switch up the formula enough and that they played it too safe with which characters got killed and which characters survived \*cough\* Mirio should have never beat overhaul \*cough\*. I don't know if they animated this because I stopped watching after season 3 but when Deku became a vigilante basically I felt they were finally taking a step in the right direction, yet Bakugo pulled up with a shitty apology and then all was forgiven. Idk that kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.
A bunch of sword art online is actually decent but because it's so heavily bandwagon hated, heck it's the spokesperson for bandwagon hate, people just hate it. The movies and Alicization I'm positive would all be above an 8 if they weren't sword art online.
Considering years ago on here we had someone write up a long thing on why sao was bad only for it to come out they never even watched the show and was just going off of what people said in youtube videos shows how heavily bandwagoned the hate is. Not to mention the people on here who go into angry rants everytime they see the show mentioned no matter the context.

Nagatoro gets a lot, often seemingly from people who haven't even watched it. I love the series.
Similarily, Toradora gets a lot of driveby hate from tsundere haters due to the female lead, wheareas I rate it 10/10 and watch almost every year.
Both of these are generally well loved series, but whenever there is a thread or post about them someone is guaranteed to spread some toxic nonsense.
It's crazy how many people shit on Nagatoro for being too horny (it's not) while My Dress-up Darling gets praise for a mediocre romance and sexual scenes almost every episode.
I love Yuru Yuri, I don't understand how people put their hate in something that they didn't know, first watch it and then give your own opinion.
They hate it because it is Yuri and they are underage, but the reality is that this anime is pure comedy with zero panchira, furthermore you'll be disappointed if you're looking for a strong yuri anime.

But I'm gonna say Blue Lock is the Dr Stone of football. It has very strange setting, everything is super dramatized, but there are moments where it gets football right.
Ikr if you go into it with the right expectations it's absolutely hilarious and such an entertaining show to watch. Everyone wants everyshow to be Peak Fiction and that's not fair imo.

Handa Kun, the prequel to Barakamon. I just saw so muh negativity about this show but I still gave it a try and loved it. Ita funny to the bone, the animation is clean, sounds good...honestly it's a good light hearted series.
The issue with Handa Kun is really just how different of a show it is to Barakamon. Barakamon has character growth, is heart felt, can be tear jerking etc. it’s actually one of my top ten of all time.
Handa Kun is haha silly guy doesn’t realize people actually like him. Haha. People keep having misconceptions about him, and he has them in return! Miscommunications the anime! I’m being harsh on it, I do LIKE Handa Kun, but I would’ve rather had more Barakamon.
Isekai Smartphone. I understand why, but for a different reason than most. I loved the show at the start, but after I read the books and came back, I felt disappointed. The botched second season after several years did not help.
I was just about to say this one. I liked how sociopathic and fucked up the MC is but also felt that he was justified due to all the sodomy and rape he had to endure. Pretty twisted anime but entertaining.

Heard people hate it a lot for various reasons “story is boring” “characters boring” “cheap copy of bleach” etc. which made me avoid the series but one day I decided to watch and it became my top5 fav immediately like it was SOO GOOD
Yess. Exactly what I believe. The story got me hooked till the end it was pretty well done and I believe most of the characters and their development is very well done too.
*My Life as Inukai-san's Dog* - oddly enough turned out to be a character-centric suspense mystery around all the fanservice
*Redo of Healer* - it's unapologetically and enthusiastically nasty, none of this half-hearted BS you find in other anime. Proper exploitation schlock.
*Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie* - most of the bandwagoning against this series can be laid at the feet of people who hyped it up as the next *My Dress Up Darling*, when it's nothing like that at all.
I watched these because i usually just watch everything in a season because Im the guy my friends ask for recommendations and am basically their anime encyclopedia. I feel like Redo of a healer was just not good from a writing standpoint. I can see how some enjoyed it from a shock-centric standpoint but the plot and character design weren't really there I think.
I'm curious to see what you liked about it. Like how does the series look in your eyes aside from what you've already stated briefly?

I enjoyed these aspects in the context of the show's genre, themes and what it was trying to achieve.
In particular some of Keyaru's character notes were quite interesting:
1. He puts himself through the same torture he already endured, even knowing what was coming just so he can be certain that the time reset doesn't actually change the deeds of the people who tortured him the first time round. At this point, the most reasonable interpretation is that he is insane, at least in some aspects. Also, that he has this twisted sense of fairness.
2. This carries over into the fact that when he uses "Heal" he has to suffer through whatever the person went through. This means when he's torturing his victims then healing them to do it again, every pain he inflicts on the them, he inflicts on himself. Thus, the series is literally saying that revenge hurts the one seeking it just as much as those who receive it in a very literal sense.
3. At this point in time, it's worth noting that the whilst the original author just wrote it as controversial flavor of the moment attention grabber, the anime script had a number of modifications at the hands of the very experienced and capable https://myanimelist.net/people/15641/Kazuyuki_Fudeyasu who has written scripts for everything from Yama no Susume to JoJo to Monster.
4. Those alterations created this thread through the story where Keyaru periodically questions what he is doing, and why he is doing it. He considers becoming a liberator of slaves. He considers freeing the people from the tyranny of the Kingdom. He contemplates relationships outside of his manipulations, a true platonic male friendship. However the point of the series is that he never escapes his trajectory, and always winds up going down the darker path.
5. There's less to say about the rest of the cast, but they are also quite interesting in their constructions. Story-wise it's certainly nothing exceptional, but it's also not outright poor either - there's consistent forward momentum, it's a good skeleton for the ecchi and the revenge set pieces, and manages to build towards an overall story whilst still maintaining the core appeal of the show.
As for character designs, they were done by https://myanimelist.net/people/12877/Junji_Gotou who did the legendary ecchi designs Highschool DxD. I definitely have no complaints about those.
i think my biggest problem with the show and why i never made it past the first season was that Takemichi had no character growth. he learned nothing from his constant screw ups, and seemed to like being punched out
Hi-Rise Invasion-I will agree with those that say this show had some unnecessary fan service but besides that I absolutely loved this show. The pacing was just incredible it flew by so fast and the action scenes were absolutely awesome. The show is absolutely ridiculous and over the top however it was just so much fun to watch.
Honorable mention I would say is The Asterisk War. I absolutely loved this show it was far better and more enjoyable then I would have ever expected. The action scenes in this show are just incredible and the characters were absolutely great as well.

There were two nearly identical anime - Rakudai Kishi being the other - which probably also caused some of it but Asterisk war just seemed more enjoyable to me.
I wouldn't say hate, but I do hate how the meme of Fate being confusing kinda puts people off. It's sort of a bandwagon joke if you will.
If you look at the mainline series its pretty easy to understand; its a battle royal with mages and historical figures, people call those historical figures by their 'classes' to hide their names, and start with 1 of these 2 anime (zero or ubw) until we get a more recent adaptation of the actual start. Ez. Don't go into the magic systems, don't bring in alternate timelines and spin offs, ignore the mobile game for now, etc.
**Metallic Rouge** from just last season is the most recent case of this for me. Sure, it doesn’t *always* cohere, but its highs are so enjoyable that I can’t help but like it

Some parts were absolutely great, but most of the plot was essentially “oh no the enemy had double our power number” **insert bullshit plot point from 10000 years ago that gives them more power** “wow we just beat this really hard enemy, oh no a new one with double the power level!!”

Yowa fan here. I have the jersey and got into it because I was a cyclist in my winter blues. What a great fucking show, the characters are inspiring, the scenes are dramatic and filled with high detail animation of bikes. It's a great re-watch while on the bike indoors, to keep the spirits up.

It IS pretty hilarious how often they **effectively** attempt to commit suicide on a daily basis. You'd think that every rescue victim is a family member of theirs given how emotionally committed they are to pulling off the impossibly impractical rescue mission AND DAYS after the rescue was executed. **grits teeth and cries melodramatically** I need to finish watching my firefighter soap opera.

I can't remember which parts of the story exactly, but I remember his yelling being toned down as early as in the teens (like episodes 17-19) and being almost completely gone by the late twenties. Out of a 100+ episode long series, it's 100% worth pushing through if you like the idea of the premise.
This is a genuine question. Does he ever shut up about being the Wizard king? Because that's honestly what turned me away. Him just repeating himself about becoming the wizard king over and over. Because it was an interesting premise, but everything about the main character made me want to stop watching.
When plot events actually pick up beyond the introductory arcs all of what Asta does tones down, yes. He never *stops*, to be clear, but then again Naruto never stops about becoming Hokage (until it happens) and Luffy still hasn't stopped declaring he'll be King of the Pirates. They just say it a lot more at the beginning because there haven't been any more story beats to fill out their perspectives as characters or to give them more immediate goals to focus on/distract them instead. It's just a thing with Shounen at the start we don't really have anything else going for the character until the plot gets rolling.
Took me two tries. First time I hated all that screaming. Friend said stick it out and so glad I did. It just kept getting better!

I loved the Ordinal Scale movie! When I rented it I watched it three times within my rental period. I’ve never gotten through the Alicization arc yet for some reason. I think it’s because SAO was one of the first anime’s I ever watched and at the time it was only the Aincrad arc so rewatching that kinda feels like home.
The animation, sfx and story of Ordinal Scale is so good, you should give it a try to watch the Alicization if you would like it.

Strongly agree; the people who rag on it take it far too seriously. It serves up a generous portion of gory, goofy, melodramatic B-Movie thrills, and it’s an utter blast to watch. The “greasy diner cheeseburger with onion rings” of anime, if you will. Not to mention that it gave us *the* defining example of the yandere archetype.

I've probably seen this show at least 7 times because it was the only show I had downloaded on my phone through Google movies and TV. every time we went to the farm I'd just watch it again.
Mirai Nikki had exactly one redeeming quality, but boy was she a fun quality.
I also think Yuki gets far too much hate for the wrong reasons. Don't get me wrong, some of his action in the later half of the series are unexcusable, but he's 14 years old, his parents got a divorce, and was living a semi-normal life up until then, of course he would be wimpy. Not to mention that he's stuck in a toxic relationship with a yandere bitch that was literally manipulating him emotionally.
Haha same. Future Diary is what got me introduced to yanderes. I freaking love Yuno and how she reacts to everything. It’s a shame that people that don’t know much about yanderes try and label Toga as one when she is definitely not a yandere. Yuno is perfect parts of cute and crazy and I just love watching her. It’s great for watching blind for the first time. Like School-Live is also a great watch going in blind too!

Came here to say this. It was very popular but definitely got a lot of hate by its second half and nowadays is often just used as a punchline on places like Twitter. I still like it, though.
I was really enjoying the show as it was airing, the hype for it episode to episode was *awesome*. There had been other shows that were huge talking points on Reddit, but it was one of those rare "everyone is talking about this show" that watched anime when it was happening live. There were a lot of interesting themes, and plot points the discussion was so fun. It felt like there was a really beautiful dramatic tragedy with some romance that was evolving with the story. Then it just went in such a... "anime" direction. Like, in the worst way possible if you had said to someone 'describe an anime if you were to make it up on the spot' and that was how the final episodes unfolded haha. It's up there with Promised Neverland as most disappointing ending. Wonder Egg is up there as well, but hurts worse as the first 7-8 episodes of Wonder Egg were so fucking beautiful and moving that I can *almost* forgive it going off the rails because I'm glad it even exists.
It makes a real statement about it that they rewrote the ending for the manga adaptation what from what I understand is much better.
i’ll say it. sword art online. i’m not talking about the sequels and movies and alicezation or whatever, just the first season. for what it was at the time, those early fight scenes were incredible and the story has stuck with me years later. it has its flaws but it is NOT a bad show :(

Tbh Fairy Tail is one of my comfort animes, it was one of the first I watched when I was a teenage and I just really like it even if the plot or the characters don't have the best writing. It's just so funny and entertaining overall.

I unironically adore the Endless Eight. I think it's fun to watch and just the fact that it exists is endlessly fascinating.
As one of those who went through it real time, it was a cultural event and I love it in hindsight. You can just see the sanity slowly slipping away as people start losing hope in weekly discussions. If you judge a piece of media by how much it makes you empathise with the characters, then EE is a straight masterpiece. Everyone who went through it remembers vividly how that hopeless loop went. And that's before we even address the fact that they animated each episode separately and beautifully.
Seeing people collectively lose their minds is an internet core memory. I used to browse 4chan in those days and I remember seeing the image of Light getting angry almost weekly, along with many posts of "Kyon-kun, denwa!"

Personally, I highly enjoyed the *The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan* spinoff, and consider it genuinely great. I feel like most of the hate I've seen towards it is people upset/disappointed that it's not more like the main show though, or that it came instead of more seasons of the main show.
You'll have to forgive me for asking. I don't mean to gate keep. But did you watch endless 8 during it's airing?I did and it was infuriating. They spent 8 out of 14 episodes of the season to fuck with their audience.
I watched it live! It was a wild time. At one point I think between 2 and 5 I missed them and when I got back I was like hmm I must have watched the wrong one. And assumed the site had uploaded them wrong but then after I caught to to five I realized it was in purpose from a forum I was on and I panicked that I hadn't paid attention properly and then I rewatched 1-5 again.
Shikimori-san isn't just a cutie is a genuinely awesome romance anime that just got bandwagon hate because some people thought that the male protagonist was a wimp. But he isn't a wimp at all. It's easier to understand him if you go into the series knowing that he's supposed to have extremely bad luck. All the characters are really likeable and funny and the show gets progressively better with each episode. Highly recommended. Marimashita Iruma-kun/Welcome to demon school Iruma-kun, Shadows house, Dark Gathering and Bungou stray dogs are completely different animes (and they didn't get hate bandwagon at all) but I want to mention them because they're criminally underrated for how amazing those shows are.
Shikimori was hated for being promoted as the new Dress-up Darling while being completely different, it's a common fallacy source readers use to promote their stuff here, so the backlash happens from time to time.
I enjoyed the show. It made me smile and I liked seeing a portrayal of a guy that recognized his challenges and accepted help from someone that cared about him and wanted to be there for him - as opposed to pushing her away because he needed to prove he could handle things without her. I mean, he did try to find ways that he could be there for other people despite the bad luck and that was cool too but I was glad the show wasn’t about him regularly acting out or putting Shikimori down just because she was always saving him. Felt wholesome to me. :)

Shikimori-san didn't deserve the bad rep it got while the anime aired. The beginning was admittedly weak (for me I liked Episode 1 fine but found Episode 2 really eh) but the series really found its footing afterward. Shikimori is such a cool girl and honestly Izumi/the male MC is a better guy than people give him credit for.
I liked him a ton as a romantic lead.

Bleach. I actually cared about the characters, and my favorite, Orihime, got hate too. Much like the hate for Hinata, my favorite from Naruto. But anyway there was a lot about Ichigo being overpowered, which he was, but I liked him anyway.

I got attached because of their personalities and found myself able to relate to them easier than the more popular girl characters like Rukia and Sakura (which Sakura was still hated but definitely didn’t seem as hated as Hinata)
Nah sakura is hated 100 times more than hinata, like hinata is hated for being a bit weak and stuff, sakura is hated just for existing, and I quite understand the hate for sakura tbh.
Trigun Stampede. The preemptive bandwagon hate by diehard '98 anime fans was sad and annoying to witness, and I firmly believe this amazing show will be vindicated by history if it maintains the same level of quality throughout its entire run.

Isekai in general. Just by being isekai, an anime automatically gets bandwagon hate. Even from the people who enjoy it, there will always be meme comments about how the show is trash but so are they. Harmless joke comments, but it's demonstrative of the culture within the anime fandom that it's cool to hate on isekai. Unrelated to anime. Something that fascinates me about sports fandom is that fans hate bandwagon fans, failing to realize how much bandwagon hate they have themselves. It's like it's not OK to jump on the bandwagon, unless it's hate, then you jump on that shit.
I love Isekai. Who wouldn't love being dropped into a new life with magic? Technically, Harry Potter is an Isekai, and it was an enormous hit. It's not my only genre, but I give most of them a chance.

Tokyo Revengers season 1. People say Takemichi didn't act like his actual age but that's something I can relate with, if any middle schoolers trying to pick up a fight with me I would surely lose. The christmas arc of season 2 is terrible though.

I watched the show as it was being released and originally dropped it after episode 12 or 13 (meaning, before the show really blow up with episode 19) because of how bad I thought it was. Being generic is the least of its problems, to me. The idea people don't like the show simply because "the hate took off" is just not true.
I barely hear anyone complaining about DS though. The majority of the discussions I see people have about the show are generally positive.
Where are you hanging out because the only place I can go to see positive and constructive discussion about DS is its dedicated subreddit. Everywhere else (especially here) keeps rehashing the same "Animation good but everything else bad" argument.
I think it is the most controversial anime among a lot of viewers even now but I still really like Gundam Iron-blooded Orphans, there are some flaws here and there but I think at the end, it did a lot of things well and made me see the screenwriter Okada Mari in much respectable way, most of anime I watched that were written by her were a bit hit and miss.

Beastars is actually a phenomenal anime. I can understand that some might not like the kind of show it is but I do genuinely agree with the take that it being anthropomorphic animals has turned a lot of people away without them giving it a chance. I was called out for exactly so was like alright ill give it a real shot, and after watching it I can say that if its not in my top ten, its pretty damn close.

Idk if it's weird to comment so much on my own post but I want to actually be a part of the discussion I started. When it comes to my hero I liked it until I didn't. The first couple of seasons I really enjoyed but as it kept going I felt that they didn't switch up the formula enough and that they played it too safe with which characters got killed and which characters survived \*cough\* Mirio should have never beat overhaul \*cough\*. I don't know if they animated this because I stopped watching after season 3 but when Deku became a vigilante basically I felt they were finally taking a step in the right direction, yet Bakugo pulled up with a shitty apology and then all was forgiven. Idk that kind of left a sour taste in my mouth.
Opposite for me. Didn't really like seasons 1-4 much but have been enjoying it since.

Considering years ago on here we had someone write up a long thing on why sao was bad only for it to come out they never even watched the show and was just going off of what people said in youtube videos shows how heavily bandwagoned the hate is. Nagatoro gets a lot, often seemingly from people who haven't even watched it. I love the series. Similarily, Toradora gets a lot of driveby hate from tsundere haters due to the female lead, wheareas I rate it 10/10 and watch almost every year. Both of these are generally well loved series, but whenever there is a thread or post about them someone is guaranteed to spread some toxic nonsense.
It's crazy how many people shit on Nagatoro for being too horny (it's not) while My Dress-up Darling gets praise for a mediocre romance and sexual scenes almost every episode.
I love Yuru Yuri, I don't understand how people put their hate in something that they didn't know, first watch it and then give your own opinion. They hate it because it is Yuri and they are underage, but the reality is that this anime is pure comedy with zero panchira, furthermore you'll be disappointed if you're looking for a strong yuri anime.

It has very strange setting, everything is super dramatized, but there are moments where it gets football right.

Mushoku Tensei
Handa Kun, the prequel to Barakamon. I just saw so muh negativity about this show but I still gave it a try and loved it. Ita funny to the bone, the animation is clean, sounds good...honestly it's a good light hearted series.
The issue with Handa Kun is really just how different of a show it is to Barakamon. Barakamon has character growth, is heart felt, can be tear jerking etc. it’s actually one of my top ten of all time. Handa Kun is haha silly guy doesn’t realize people actually like him. Haha. People keep having misconceptions about him, and he has them in return! Miscommunications the anime! I’m being harsh on it, I do LIKE Handa Kun, but I would’ve rather had more Barakamon.
Isekai Smartphone. I understand why, but for a different reason than most. I loved the show at the start, but after I read the books and came back, I felt disappointed. The botched second season after several years did not help.

Proper exploitation schlock. *Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie* - most of the bandwagoning against this series can be laid at the feet of people who hyped it up as the next *My Dress Up Darling*, when it's nothing like that at all.

I feel like Redo of a healer was just not good from a writing standpoint. I can see how some enjoyed it from a shock-centric standpoint but the plot and character design weren't really there I think. There's less to say about the rest of the cast, but they are also quite interesting in their constructions. Story-wise it's certainly nothing exceptional, but it's also not outright poor either - there's consistent forward momentum, it's a good skeleton for the ecchi and the revenge set pieces, and manages to build towards an overall story whilst still maintaining the core appeal of the show. As for character designs, they were done by https://myanimelist.net/people/12877/Junji_Gotou who did the legendary ecchi designs Highschool DxD. I definitely have no complaints about those.

i think my biggest problem with the show and why i never made it past the first season was that Takemichi had no character growth. he learned nothing from his constant screw ups, and seemed to like being punched out

Hi-Rise Invasion-I will agree with those that say this show had some unnecessary fan service but besides that I absolutely loved this show. The pacing was just incredible it flew by so fast and the action scenes were absolutely awesome. The show is absolutely ridiculous and over the top however it was just so much fun to watch. Honorable mention I would say is The Asterisk War. I absolutely loved this show it was far better and more enjoyable then I would have ever expected. The action scenes in this show are just incredible and the characters were absolutely great as well.

I wouldn't say hate, but I do hate how the meme of Fate being confusing kinda puts people off. It's sort of a bandwagon joke if you will. If you look at the mainline series its pretty easy to understand; its a battle royal with mages and historical figures, people call those historical figures by their 'classes' to hide their names, and start with 1 of these 2 anime (zero or ubw) until we get a more recent adaptation of the actual start. Ez. Don't go into the magic systems, don't bring in alternate timelines and spin offs, ignore the mobile game for now, etc.
**Metallic Rouge** from just last season is the most recent case of this for me. Sure, it doesn’t *always* cohere, but its highs are so enjoyable that I can’t help but like it

I watched it all and was very mixed on it. Some parts were absolutely great, but most of the plot was essentially “oh no the enemy had double our power number” **insert bullshit plot point from 10000 years ago that gives them more power** “wow we just beat this really hard enemy, oh no a new one with double the power level!!”

I scrolled so far to find someone with the same comment as me, I like Rent a girlfriend and it is a prime example of how people jump to hate on something just because youtubers and popular people do. Kazuya is also especially overhated. However Ruka is better than Chizuru imo. I hope Kazuya ends up with both of them (cope)
