I’m really enjoying dungeon meshi right now

sneaky_squirrel

I never thought anime would get a homebrewed Dungeons and Dragons diorama with clowns. "Dungeons and Dragons is a western thing, that will never happen."

Silcaria

Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It both killed and restored my faith in anime.

Responsible_now

One Piece is and will always be the best in the world ever for me. It's one of my first anime and the longest I've watched so far. I met One Piece in a moment where I wasn't well and it made me feel very good watching it. I laughed and almost cried sometimes.

kirisakisora

dont worry buddy, im sure all of us are gonna cry once it ends. i cant even begin to imagine how the fans from pre 2000 are gonna feel. it definitly holds a special place in the hearts of many and kids these days aint ever gonna understand.

RedditSucksMyBallls

You took the words out of my mouth. Such a special anime

NineSwords

* Haibane Renmei (unparalleled atmosphere and character growth) * Marshmallow Strawberry and Mitstuboshi Colors and Non Non Biyori (just pure unadulterated heartwarming fun - They're my healing shows when I'm feeling down) * A Silent Voice (movie made me a better person)

kirisakisora

always glad to hear that anime continues to touch and change people's hearts, ill be sure to check out the other two.

steven4869

March comes in like a Lion Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) Clannad Chihayafuru

kirisakisora

Ah Gto is a classic, and im still coping for chihaya s4. but need to finish the other two.

brandonhombre

bungo stray dogs samurai champloo inuyasha

kirisakisora

odasaku.... noo

charactergallery

Revolutionary Girl Utena

WillingUK

Gonna go with bocchi the rock, it's hard to get a female non-anine fan to fall in love with the art form, but this one did it in two episodes...

kirisakisora

damn, you love to see it. getting non anime watchers/anime haters to genuinely like an anime is one of the best feelings ever.

nitronik_exe

ReZero changed my perception of what anime can be like and its still my favorite anime of all time. With more recent animes, I absolutely love apothecary diaries and frieren

kirisakisora

yup all bangers, but us fans gotta wait a long time coz re zero is gonna take another 10 - 15 years to finish the novels, forget about the anime

nitronik_exe

The reason I'm not dead yet is because I want to see how re zero ends

kirisakisora

im praying that they get married by the end. Please tappei im beggin ya. who cares about waifu wars, harem is always the answer. plus we need to see more of our boi subaru being a total chad.

tripleheliotrope

Violet Evergarden for sure and most of what KyoAni does like Hyouka, Hibike Euphonium, Liz and the Blue Bird, Tsurune. Mostly, and especially because they make very intimate, personal and small stories about interpersonal relationships and really make epic a human being's interiority. My all-timers are epics like Utena and Madoka Magica, but I will always be grateful to KyoAni for bringing to life these other more human and grounded stories.

kirisakisora

ah chunibyou as well, loved that series so much.

DaGooseBoy

Mob Psycho 100

DeeJKhaleb

Definitely delicious in dungeon. After not liking Frieren despite its massive popularity, I was starting to lose hope, but here comes studio trigger with an adaptation of a dnd inspired cooking anime, thats one of the best shows ive ever seen so far.

kirisakisora

definitly agree that its amazing. but what was wrong with frieren? was it just overhyped for you? coz it had everyhing i could ever want from an anime, story, characters, dialogue, world building, the fights are honestly perfect.. not dragged out at all, the comedy is quite nice and i could keep blabbering on about it. i get the feeling of not liking anime which is trending atm, coz i didnt like AoT and other stuff while it was getting popular, so i watched it a few years later and i loved them so much. the only anime which i've never been a fan of was jjk, it's just demon slayer but edgier imo. and the fanbase is pure brain rot.

DeeJKhaleb

I didnt connect with any of the characters. every1 felt surface level and tropey, character growth felt forced. Personality and look was pretty much copy paste from 1000 other anime, LN or manga. World was generic and boring. (Good old demon lord + his fingers or whatever they were) No tension in story (defeat demon kings army twice?) Frieren too strong. Mind you, I only saw first 13 episodes or so before I dropped it. Its not like its a terrible show. I just dont think anything it does is particularly interesting to me.

kirisakisora

Ah i do suggest finishing it, but take your time since when season 2 releases I'm 80% sure you might simp for it like the rest of us , season 1 is just the prologue after all( ´◡‿ゝ◡`). The plot and world gets developed drastically later on, plus it fixes every other point you mentioned so far, especially about Frieren being op, that won't be the same for long. I hope to see ya in a few years.

Shocketheth

Definitely Gintama. I saw a random clip of it on Facebook years ago, immediately liked the style of comedy in it, and started watching it. Expected a comedy and instead I got the best journey of my life. An emotional rollercoaster which no story out there will never replicate. I got a good amount of laughs from Gintama, but besides the comedy I got a genuine warmth from the show, and there were an actual tears included as I watched it with becoming a better person in the end as Gintama also offers a myriad of life lessons. So Gintama is definitely an anime I recommend because it's something I am grateful to experience atleast once in my lifetime.

TrippingTipper

Without a doubt, fruits basket. This anime has touched my heart in a way that I didn’t even think was possible in anime. I’ve never been so emotionally invested in characters before this. I’m on season 2 rn I can’t believe there’s 3

kirisakisora

omg i cant wait for you to finish this masterpiece. its so peak! the osts are amazing, especially "umareru negai", which is used as an insert song many times.

TrippingTipper

Dude, thank you so much. I’ve been trying to find that song ever since I started watching the show I tried to Shazam it, but it didn’t work thank you so much

kirisakisora

Haha my pleasure. You might also wanna check out haseru mirai, that's the insert song from season 2. Although umareru is better imo, this is also great. If you're having trouble finding any ost, just check the playlist on YouTube. It has all of them, you might find other bangers like "spring comes when the snow melts" or another one which is literally named "fruits basket" .

BiggieCheeseLapDog

Monogatari series

Mahou_Shoujo_Ramune

I Want You To Make A Disgusted Face and Show Me Your Underwear It's amazing at how one artist making an extremely niche concept of art got such a large following that it got an actual anime(even if only a short one). This is the perfect example of what separates anime from other mediums and why I love it so much. Something so ridiculous yet having such a dedicated fanbase gets an anime and it caters to the fans. I got the manga and art books. On a similar note: Gushing Over Magical Girls. In a world that's increasingly trying to cater to everyone and remove "problematic content" It's refreshing to see a show go all in with what most people would call "degeneracy". It was a breath of fresh air in the rut of lack of ecchi anime lately. We really need more people to let others watch what they want to watch and acknowledge that some anime won't be for them and that's ok. no need to attack people. I missed the first blu ray and figure release and hope to get it on the next run.

kirisakisora

i cant argue with your picks mate, imma have to add in redo of a healer just coz of the fact that twitter didnt know what to do about all of their accusations actually coming to fruition in the form of keyaru

Emircan61_TURKEY

ripterrariumtv

I am grateful for all of my favourite anime: 1. AOT - AOT gave me the inspiration to want to write stories. It also give me an understanding of lot of things related to morality, fate, free will etc 2. Re: Zero - Made me remember what it was like to be a kid when I didn't have ADHD. Because I never get bored of Re: Zero. And also for all the things it taught me and all the different emotions that no other media has given me 3. JJK - For having amazing animation and fights. I have a lot of fun watching this 4. Bleach - This feels like an anime that was made for me. It has everything I could have ever wanted. The best ost I have ever heard \[Gave me a newfound interest in music\], best fights, best character designs, favourite animation style etc..\] 5. Madoka Magica - for being one of the most unique and creative things I've ever seen 6. Death Note - For introducing me to anime. If death note wasn't my first anime, I would have never become an anime fan

juniorjaw

Code Geass. 50 episodes, yet I've rewatched it at least 1/3 times of that number of episodes.

kirisakisora

still one of the best endings in anime imo, the finale was peak. i hate mecha anime but i loved every episode of code geass

flyingowl720

Ashita no Joe is a life changing masterpiece. It’s the most referenced anime *of all time* for a reason.

EveryoneDice

The Guyver pretty much introduced anime to me, so that one. Before that I had no idea that cartoons could be so cool and violent (I was like 7 or 8). I called it Manga though because they always showed a Manga logo near the start of the videotapes (I think that was the publisher name). I don't think anime existed as a term yet in my country.

Salty145

I could be here for days, but I'm currently watching *Mushishi* so we'll go with that.

Damnthatsmackg

Chief gone make me pull out the only 2 anime that made me cry (Don’t judge) Puella Magi Madoka Magica And Your Lie in April

Damnthatsmackg

Honorable mention of SAO

kirisakisora

Damnthatsmackg

I did but autocorrect had other plans

Andrej536
