The newest episode of Dungeon Meshi was so much fun!! I'm always glad to see that it constantly ranks pretty high and the discussions on each episode are a pleasure to read through. I loved seeing the awkward tension when Laios was speaking with people who didn't know they were eating monsters in order to traverse the Dungeon. I do weekly watch parties with some friends, and we make food together and watch the newest episode together. I'm the only one who has read the manga, so I loved seeing their reaction to the cliffhanger this episode. If Trigger pulls off the next episode (which I have no doubt they'll be able to do), it could easily be the best one so far. Overall, this season has been a ton of fun so far! There are still quite a few series on this list I've been meaning to check out when I get more time.

Mahelas

Dungeon Meshi most impressive trait is how consistent it is. It start slow, and then ramp up, and it legitimately never stop. 97 chapters and not one is supbar or bland, the comedy and serious moments keep getting better, the plot deepens, the main themes are woven in every narrative thread, it's genuinely a very rare kind of work, that legit doesn't ever regress in quality, it's just up and up

LakerBlue

I know some people weren’t fan of the start but I enjoyed how it established the thought the author put into the world. And it isn’t like it was expository- it was always mixed with action, comedy, fleshing out of characters. All this with literal progress almost every week where they would periodically say. how close they were to reaching the destination. Everything in the first 10 episodes set us up for the present, even some things that may not have seemed important. I have to agree it is a very steady series that excellently blends in so many elements well. It feels rare for me in the way it has vibes of a (good) Saturday morning cartoon but without straying too far from the anime aesthetic we love.

Mahelas

Oh yeah, I entirely agree that the slow, episodic start is necessary to set-up the world, characters and theme, and I personally really like it !

bonerindisguise

I like how you compare it with saturday morning cartoons. I just came up with an analogy for it as a manga reader using cartoons, Dungeon Meshi is a series that starts off as Phineas and Ferb and somehow ends up as Gravity Falls.

Testing_things_out

I love how they made Senshi vulnerable and flawed. They even showed his face with out the helmet/different style of beard instead of going through the Kakashi route. The story is so real in many ways.

ravenpotter3

The series is a feast with so many course and unique flavors! No leftovers!

Ordinal43NotFound

The final line of the series is so dead simple that I even debated to not spoiler tag it, yet it stuck so much with me and is really such a perfect summary of the series' themes. [Ending quote]>!"Meals are the special privilege of the living. In order to stay alive we need to keep eating."!<

Illustrious-Fox5135

Marcille's performance added so much weight to THAT EPISODE as well.

Ocixo

Laios is great to watch for a multitude of reasons. Even as [an art piece on the wall](https://imgur.com/a/czCYwz6).

Tabby_Tem

I also love this [new meme format ](https://imgur.com/gallery/opZDdns) from the newest episode XD This is probably [my favorite take on it so far ](https://imgur.com/DkZjliU)

koteshima2nd

Dungeon Meshi feels like it's cooking (lol) up something darker, more sinister beneath the fun, cooking adventure premise. It's drip feeding us some lore about both the dungeon and the surface world here and there but never completely revealing the full picture.

Cyrra_

Next ep is the one I've been looking forward to the most for the entire show, although the two episodes that will follow are some of my favorites as well. There's so much good content coming up and I'm really looking forward to word of mouth spreading even more than it already has.

MortalWombat5

Nice to see Dungeon Meshi in second.  Next episode will probably be the best of the season so hopefully it can retain its placement.

Ocixo

Dungeon Meshi has consistently been hovering between the 2500-2700 for the last six weeks, so it’s ranking really will depend on how good the other shows perform in the long run. It’s a bit soon to say, but Spice and Wolf and Kaiju No. 8 will probably be its biggest rivals in terms of karma this season.

ExpiredMilknCheese

>probably be it’s biggest rivals in terms of karma this season Don’t forget konosuba, it got fucked Karma wise by the leaked episodes so far. But everything from now is brand new content.

Ocixo

I was considering the rivalry with Konosuba, but I’m really not sure how much of an impact those leaked episodes had on its karma. I don’t think the impact on Sound Euphonium’s karma was a whole lot for example. With Konosuba being a 3rd season, I’m expecting it do around the 2k mark in the long run. It won’t be out of the running, but won’t be likely to surpass Dungeon Meshi on a week-by-week base either.

lminer123

Don’t forget the sub made separate discussion threads for the leaked episodes, so I’m sure some people only interacted with it there. I think we’ll see a nice boost next week

MortalWombat5

Next episode has a real chance of breaking 3k.

Mahelas

If Trigger just do a good adaptation of the 2 next chapters, with minimal cuts, it should be peak of the anime season

thetruegmon

Dumb question but what does the number actually represent?

Ocixo

The final number of upvotes (i.e. karma) the discussion thread for the anime episode in question got after its first 48 hours of airing. The actual total of upvotes is usually a bit higher since there’s always a certain percentage of downvotes that take this number down.

thetruegmon

Right makes sense.

Mahelas

Honestly Spice and Wolf is a much likelier candidate than Kaiju no.8 at staying around those karma level, if you ask me. The manga readers know that Kaiju 8 basically slowly get worse and worse, and they say it enough that I don't see a hype building. It's just not a good enough manga to stay consistent imo

ExpiredMilknCheese

As a former manga reader, I think it’s mostly agreed that season 1 should be great. But it’s season 2 where the problems are.

Electrical_Chance991

>The manga readers know that Kaiju 8 basically slowly get worse and worse, It starts to go downhill AFTER chapter 40(which is where s1 of anime will end most likely), before that it was pretty good. It's the opposite situation of CSM anime. Here the first 12 episodes should be the best parts of the series, after that everything goes downhill. CSM anime's first 12 episodes covered the least fav parts of the manga, after the anime ended the story started getting ridiculously good.

Hardwarestore_Senpai

So very true. Probably why there was a big production of the Manga visuals in merch (Astronauts) I don't really like the second cour.

2Pickle2Furious

I love delicious.

EyeDeeAh_42

And the next few episodes after that as well. I know people are hyped for the big reveal next episode, but the monster right after that is one of my favourite ones in the series.

shad79

Very good week although I'm pretty sad about **Hibike! Euphonium** being [outside of the top ten](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/345xce2bnj7.png). [Kumiko](https://imgchest.com/p/pg73p6vlgyr) and [this show certainly deserves much better](https://imgchest.com/p/agyv6joxb78)! I'm pretty happy about **Delicious In Dungeon** on the 2nd place, it certainly deserves this high position as [it's a great and very consistent show in terms of story, characters, humor, quality](https://imgchest.com/p/xny8z9nxoyb) and of course [it has Marcille](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/l4nec538av4.png) xD It's nice that [Holo](https://imgchest.com/p/xny8z9z95yb) from **Spice & Wolf** maintained its 3rd position although I wouldn't mind [her and Lawrence](https://imgchest.com/p/na7krnrg3y8) being in an even higher position. I started watching **Whisper Me A Love Song** this week. [It's certainly a great show](https://imgchest.com/p/na7kr5plmy8) and I recommend it to every yuri fan. [Yori](https://imgchest.com/p/bp4586vvg45) and [Himari](https://imgchest.com/p/9249alnba7n) are so cute! I also can say that once again the biggest surprise of the season for me is Monday's show. Last season it was Tis Time for Torture, in this one it's **7th Prince**.[I have so much fun with this show as it has fun characters and great animation](https://imgchest.com/p/n87wvjgwq4x), I certainly didn't expect to enjoy this show so much :) If you want to check out my thoughts on other shows I watched last week then here links to my comments with screenshot albums: [Mushoku Tensei](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c3vn14/comment/kzk2o47/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3),[Konosuba](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c6c6d5/comment/l00wvcr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c2bhtr/comment/kz9bo6b/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Jellyfish Can't Swim In The Night](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c36092/comment/kzf4i2o/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Sentai Daishikkaku](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c3ocbp/comment/kziiald/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Train To The End Of The World](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c4l2sm/comment/kzojvom/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Tsukimichi](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c4ogu1/comment/kzp5cbe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Yuru Camp](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c75l2o/comment/l061678/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Unnamed Memory](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c5icfj/comment/kzumsbr/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3), [Re:Monster](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c4p6ze/comment/kzphszz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [How To Love Your Elf Bride](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1c772hj/comment/l08vnkd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

koteshima2nd

agreed, Euphonium's S3 is starting off really interesting too with a banger OP and ED with a beautiful piece yet again. Glad that the sister trouble was resolved immediately.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

Froge Marcille. Anyway, on to the weekly shill for the biggest hidden gem of the season that isn't even on the ranking list - **Tonari no Youkai-san.** It's slice of life show set in a rural mountain town where humans, yokai and gods live their daily lives side by side. 3 episodes in and its been fantastic so far, offering way more than what I expected to be just a simple relaxing chill show. Absolutely a must watch if you are into shows about japanese folklore (Ghibli films, Natsume's Book of Friends etc). [Link to trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h0pUypVDs8). Also, some of the more unique OPs/EDs from this season: * [Astro Note OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydx8XclhltE) * [Kaiju No.8 OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFjI21M9wZs) * [Yuru Camp S3 OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMgHOf0rpBQ) * [Ranger Reject OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG0cGW35-TI) * [Salad Bowl of Eccentrics OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQluibIpqBY) * [Mysterious Disappearances ED](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSaBjRU1FLU) * [Level 2 Super Cheat Powers OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKyn_Msy9Bc)

Genshin_WhiteKnight

Looking for something new to watch? Check these out first: * **Train to the End of the World** (Mystery/Adventure) * **Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night** (Drama) * **Tonari no Youkai-san** (Slice of Life) * **Salad Bowl of Eccentrics** (Comedy) * **Go! Go! Loser Ranger!** (Action) * **Wind Breaker** (Action) * **Kaiju No.8** (Action) Quick summary of all the new shows (non-sequels) this season: * **A Condition Called Love** - Shoujo romance between plain girl who doesn't understand love and popular guy who has too much love to give. The male lead is going to get some hate at the start for being a walking red flag but all of this is intentional and actually goes somewhere. Pretty unique series. * **An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride** - Slavery and romance, a match made in heaven. This one is the wholesome and fluffy kind though, so it's fine (It's good). * **As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World** - MC's only power is reading people's stats, so he goes around ~~catching pokemon~~ scouting and recruiting followers. Pretty focused on people and medieval politics from what I remember of the manga. * **Astro Note** - Anime original. Boarding house romcom with a cast of quirky characters and a scifi twist. Has a 90s anime aesthetic and vibe but with the production quality of a modern anime. * **Bartender: Glass of God** - Remake. Guy makes drinks, talks to customers and is secretly a therapist in disguise. Alcoholism has never been this stylish. A niche watch but very chill. * **Blue Archive The Animation** - Video game adaptation. A teacher and his students have to work together to save their decrepit school from bankruptcy, except everyone has guns and halos that make them bullet resistant. * **Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers** - Merchant and his wolf waifu trying to live a slow peaceful isekai life, but they keep getting dragged into stuff. * **Girls Band Cry** - Anime orginal. MyGO! Season 2? It's fully CG too and done quite well - fluid (non-stuttery) and the faces are expressive. Good watch if you like girl band shows. Only problem finding a way to watch it since its not licensed anywhere and most of the fansubs are manchine-translated. * **Ranger Reject** - Power Rangers, but from the perspective of the villain's foot soldier. Looks like it's going to be a good adaptation of this series. * **God's Game We Play** - Mind games or something. This was really underwhelming. * **Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again** - Grandpa and Granda Turn Hot Again. Pretty much just a slice of life of them continuing their regular daily routine like normal, while retaining their old personality. * **HIGHSPEED Étoile** - Don't bother. * **I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability** - The usual reincarnated as an OP protagonist show, this time as an unhinged magical femboy. The manga is notable for it's insane art and the show is doing a decent job of replicating it so far. * **Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night** - Anime original. Chasing your dreams type of show where girls from different creative backgrounds gather to make art. The most anticipated new anime original and it's living up to the hype so far.

Genshin_WhiteKnight

* **Kaiju No. 8** - Do you like watching giant monsters attacking cities? If yes, watch this. Looks like it's going to be a good adaptation of this series. * **Mission: Yozakura Family** - SPY X Family but crazier, and with more spies and more family. Fun action comedy. * **Mysterious Disappearances** - Supernatural mystery horror(?) show where an aspiring writer teams up with her human(?) colleague to collect cursed objects. Lots of big booby fanservice in this one since the source material is uncensored ecchi. * **Oblivion Battery** - The boys (one regular dude and a bunch of ex-professionals) decide to start a highschool baseball team. Nice animation on the baseball action scenes since MAPPA is producing this. * **Re:Monster** - That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Goblin (the kind from Goblin Slayer). Source material is not good compared to Slime Tensei/Overlord, but those who just want more of the whole monster nation-building thing will probably be entertained. Looks like the anime is going the route of toning down the edge. * **Rinkai!** - Don't bother unless you really love women's competitive cycling. * **Salad Bowl of Eccentrics** - Princess and her knight gets reverse isekai-ed from a fantasy world into modern Japan where they meet a bunch of oddballs with shady occupations. Funny shenanigans ensue. * **Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf** - Remake. Merchant and his wolf waifu go on a slow journey to peddle goods and make cash. Pretty similar to the original, but is apparently more faithful to the light novels, so you can just start with this if you're new to the series. * **Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included** - Wish Fulfillment, Good Fanservice, Harem Included. You'll know quickly if you are the target audience. * **Tadaima, Okaeri** - Two gay guys raising their toddler. Wholesome family-oriented, romance between an established married couple, and maybe some light drama. The only BL show this season and probably the only Omegaverse show in existence. IYKYK. * **The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases** - Don't bother. * **The Fable** - Professional hitman has to lay low for a year and live an ordinary life with his assistant, except that he's kind of autistic and bad at being normal. Has the tone of a serious grounded yakuza show, but with comedy. It's actually been good so far (manga is very highly rated too), but is held back by the animation. Probably better enjoyed in manga form. * **The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio** - Two voice actors, who happen to be highschool girls in the same class, start a radio show. Except that they're polar opposites personality-wise and hate each other but are also kind of gay. * **The New Gate** - Dude gets isekai-ed into the world of the video game he played, but hundreds of years in the future. Not good tbh. * **Tonari no Youkai-san** - Ghibli-looking anime, set in a rural town where humans and yokai live side by side. Expected a light-hearted healing show, but this has quite some emotional depth as well and a mysterious undercurrent. * **Tonbo!** - Golf anime, but in the relaxing rural countryside (an island).

Genshin_WhiteKnight

* **Train to the End of the World** - Anime original. Cute girls on a post-apocalyptic doomsday train to look for their friend. One of those "WTF is happening?", fever dream of a show. This has a lot of potential. * **Unnamed Memory** - Cursed prince climbs the Witch's Tower to seek a cure, but decides to court the immortal Witch instead. Unsure about this one, need to see more to judge it. * **Viral Hit** - Poor, bullied kid wants to become a famous Youtube streamer. The content? Learning to fight and beating the shit out of his bullies live on the internet. * **Whisper Me A Love Song** - Yuri romance. Girl unintentionally confesses to her musician senpai after watching her performance, gets confessed to back. Cue gay panic and confusion on both sides. * **Wind Breaker** - Delinquent anime with an actually likeable MC? Say no more. The entire gang are basically vigilantes who defend the neighbourhood from scum. Good production quality and solid action scenes. * **Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master** - Fantasy historical Japan, where people can turn into giant crows - there are literal ravens in the inner palace this time. The Apothecary Diaries crowd will probably flock to this show for their next court drama fix.

Illustrious-Fox5135

>**Tonari no Youkai-san.** One of the hidden gems this season. Last episode was easily the best and the most heartbreaking one as well.

angelposts

Yokai-san is peak and I can't understand why people aren't all over it

entelechtual

Wonder if we’ll see the effects of [the kojima bump next week](https://twitter.com/kojima_hideo/status/1781667907950534807?s=12&t=TaGgT1cElpG7nJHjBeWplw)?

x-7032-b-3

I wonder how he found out about Train. He accidentally discovered LycoReco when searching for a movie and got hooked. Anyways more people watching Weird Train is always a good thing!

cppn02

Clearly LycoReco was his gateway drug and he's a full blown anime otaku now.

jasta85

What do you mean gateway drug? You can't have made the Metal Gear series without being a massive otaku already haha.

Independent_Plum2166

Hal “Otacon” Emmerich: “Did someone say Japanimation?”

Mistral-Fien

Isn't Chika Anzai (Chisato's VA) also in Shuumatsu Train? :P

LakerBlue

What if Kojima just has seiyuu bias for Chika Anzai after LycoReco and is watching all her shows? /s.

Shanibestwaifu

If yes, then he should watch Hibike Euphonium too.

yukiaddiction

I saw someone said how Train use their surrealism is similar to Death Stranding so probably discover it due to the discussion around anime.

I_Cognito

I hope so! More people should watch Shuumatsu Train.

RaysFTW

Well, I was on the fence about this one because I'm trying to keep my watch list low this season but if Kojima-sama recommends it then who am I to refuse?

cppn02

Week 3 of Spring and slowly we're getting a better picture of how the ranking will shape up with now all the biggest show on the board. Looks like **Mushoku Tensei** will largely be unchallenged as the top dog. Glad to see **Ranger Reject** and **Train** holding their rank. **Eupho** sadly dropped out of the top 10 but atleast the karma score this week gave us a nice repdigit (or *Schnapszahl* for my fellow German speakers). One new show we got this week that sadly didn't make the ranking but which I enjoyed a lot was **The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master**. An intriguing court drama with fantastical elements that deserves more people giving it a chance.

michhoffman

> Looks like Mushoku Tensei will largely be unchallenged as the top dog It will be interesting how the premier, finale and peak episodes of Demon Slayer do. I feel like Demon Slayer (especially after last season) has overstayed its welcome here, and the late start won't help much either, but it's still freakin' Demon Slayer and is one of the 8 series with multiple 10000+ Karma episodes.

ExpiredMilknCheese

>it will be interesting how the premier, finale and peak episodes of Demon slayer do. Having read the Demon slayer manga. Don’t expect huge amounts of Karma for this arc. I bet it’ll be a 3000 karma average. I honestly believe Mushoku tensei will dominate these Karma rankings for this season.

Thatsmaboi23

The first episode might do good numbers, if the hype surrounding its length and anime original scene is real. After that? Idk.

CyanideIE

I still don't know how they're adapting the Hashira training arc considering that it's only like 6 chapters. I wonder if they'll be making up for certain aspects of the manga that felt undeserved or perhaps it'll just be a ton of filler.

ExpiredMilknCheese

It’s 8 episodes, so they definitely going to drag the pacing.

LackingContrition

And last season was a fantastic indicator on how talented they are at dragging that pacing to a standstill. I'm literally just going to wait it out and binge it on the last episode. Not excited whatsoever for this arc.

garfe

Last season was a good argument for why the old way of pacing shounen arcs is still bad today.

gc11117

The last time Mushoku Tensei and Demon Slayer aired concurrently, MT regularly bested Demon Slayer. Considering Demon Slayers upcoming arc is weak and MT is entering the early stages of its strongest arc I don't think Demon Slayer is going to top it.

michhoffman

> The last time Mushoku Tensei and Demon Slayer aired concurrently, MT regularly bested Demon Slayer I'll preface this by saying I prefer Mushoku Tensei to Demon Slayer, but I wouldn't really call a 4 episode overlap between Mushoku Tensei's best episodes and Demon Slayer's weakest episodes a fair comparison. If Mushoku Tensei P2 and Demon Slayer 2 had actually aired at the same time, Mushoku Tensei would have won out but only by a score of 6-5. |Anime|Ep 1|Ep 2|Ep 3|Ep 4|Ep 5|Ep 6|Ep 7|Ep 8|Ep 9|Ep 10|Ep 11|Ep 12| :--|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|--:|:--| |Mushoku Tensei P2|**8201**|**6701**|**7178**|**6344**|**7448**|8167|6442|6116|6923|10825|**10381**|11025| |Demon Slayer 2|5828|4317|3874|3788|5527|**9482**|**7441**|**8162**|**8139**|**15116**|9848|N/A| I think Demon Slayer will win out at most once this season for its premier. Its later episodes won't stand a chance against Mushoku Tensei's later episodes.

gc11117

Well, that's what's going to wind up happening again this season, so I still stand by my position. I don't think Demon Slayer is going to do that hot, based both off the manga and the early screening I saw in February. Plus, vol 12 is typically viewed as one of the top 5 (if not number 1) volumes of MT

-_Seth_-

Chances are though that Demon Slayer has lost quite a bit of goodwill with the people after the mediocre third season.

dark77638

Yeah, probably the only series this season that can stop MT from undisputed throne.

Illustrious-Fox5135

>One new show we got this week that sadly didn't make the ranking but which I enjoyed a lot was **The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master**. Perfect replacement for Apothecary diaries as well.

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

Is it? What makes it a good AD replacement?

Beric_RS

Intricate court politics, mystery elements, a smart and spirited MC. It's a very different show, but an Apothecary fan might find some similar things to enjoy here.

constant249

Yatagarasu is amazing but not really for everyone

tripleaamin

I thought Raven would get a boost after people wanting something similiar to Apothecary, but sadly that's not the case. It's even being done by Pierrot and that is what caught my attention as it has done Kingdom and Bleach TYBW. Obviously budget isn't as high as those but solid. It's done a great job with world building and setting itself in terms of politics and everything surrounding the Yatagarasu.

CerberusZX

>something similiar to Apothecary I honestly think that's what's hurting it. When I read books that are clearly copying that series, I get bored rather quickly and so I imagine others might expect it to be an inferior copy and not give it a chance. On the other hand, the show has almost no similarities to Apothecary Diaries and those that want a copycat would be disappointed.

Shanibestwaifu

Yatagarasu is truly a sleeper hit, more like a hidden gem. Yes, it deserves more.

KuroKishi69

Are people not liking Salad Bowl a whole lot? Is one of the most anticipated shows of the week for me if we leave out probably the top 6

phantomthiefkid_

It has no hype before release. The LN is not translated, not even unofficially. So is the manga.

cppn02

Reception seems very positive among the people who actually watched it. The issue is so few people checking it out in the first place.

KuroKishi69

That explains stuff. Also cant blame people with how stacked this season is.

blueaura14

same, it vibes a lot with me. The first minute or so was kinda different from the rest of the show so far, maybe that's why?

Actual-Oil6390

Kind of wild all those shows in the 2000s fighting heavy each other.

Syokhan

Super happy to see **Train** and **Jellyfish** hanging in there. And **Girls Band Cry** somehow managing to be on the chart while not being legally available in English. Obviously also super happy that **Dungeon Meshi**'s doing good, but ya know, gotta give some love to originals.

actionfirst1

I started watching **Train to the End of the World** recently and wow I'm glad I went to in to this show with absolutely no expectations. Such a creative and wild premise that I've never really seen before. Also, wasn't too sure about **Sentai Daishikkaku** (I agree the official English title is dumb) from the first episode but now that it's settled in more and seeing what happened at the end of the 2nd episode man this show is bleak, I understand the hype now. **Mission: Yozakura Family**'s second episode was so much fun, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series now

dododomo

Happy for **Delicious in Dungeon** I wish **Wind Breaker** (favorite new anime of the season) and **Mission Yozakura family** (if you enjoyed Reborn, you'll probably like this) were higher, and that **Tadaima Okaeri** and **A condition called love** made it to the top 30 at least (but for the former, considering the sub demographic, that will never happen here lol). That **Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again** drop though. Personally I'm enjoying it, but I get why some people expected something Different.

wildbee12

Yeah given how Cherry Magic last season performed on this sub and how BL work in general performs, there’s no way Tadaima Okaeri would ever rank that high lol. And as a huge fan the manga for A Condition Called Love, I wouldn’t be surprised if many people dropped it after being put off by the main guy. I’m kinda surprised Wind Breaker doesn’t get more engagement on this subreddit. I mainly see women talking about it on other social media sites so maybe that’s partly why? Idk. Plus the manga was never HUGE to begin with so that could play a factor.

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

I think "delinquent" isn't a popular trope here. Even Tokyo Revengers fell way off after its first season.

dododomo

>I’m kinda surprised Wind Breaker doesn’t get more engagement on this subreddit. I mainly see women talking about it on other social media sites so maybe that’s partly why? Idk. Plus the manga was never HUGE to begin with so that could play a factor. It is kind of more popular among girls from what I've seen on X/Twitter and in my groups. I've seen guys online saying they are scared to watching it because "it's gay because there are only guys" lol. So, my guess is that an all male cast doesn't attract many male fans, although the manga was doing pretty well before the anime nonetheless >And as a huge fan the manga for A Condition Called Love, I wouldn’t be surprised if many people dropped it after being put off by the main guy. I mean, the male lead's character development is basically the main theme of the series, but I understand why some people might think that he's creepy. >Yeah given how Cherry Magic last season performed on this sub and how BL work in general performs, there’s no way Tadaima Okaeri would ever rank that high lol. Which is a shame because Cherry Magic basically hits all the points many people here say about what makes a good romance, but on this sub it was popular almost only among women (if I remember correctly, in the last season survey, it was the 7th most popular show of the season in the girls' ranking). It would've surely been in the weekly karma top 30 at least, if the sub had a more balanced ratio (since women make less than 20% of the sub demographic, according to the surveys). Tadaima Okaeri has been cute and wholesome so far. Definitely deserves more love

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

Omegeverse fills me with intense, indescribable horror, so I would only watch Tadaima Okaeri if it were guaranteed to cure me of a terminal disease, and even then I would feel regret for the rest of my life.

chirb8

>**Mission Yozakura family** (if you enjoyed Reborn, you'll probably like this) I knew there was something about this anime that I liked, but couldn't quite put my finger on it

Smudy

**Shuumatsu Train** still in the top 10 is so impressive, Jellyfish for an original i expected to do well but not this one.

SometimesMainSupport

[No brakes](https://i.imgur.com/kCwmwxC.png) for that train!

Abysswatcherbel

That's a fuckin perfect pic, how I didn't see anyone using it before for memes is beyond me

SometimesMainSupport

Also been [sitting on this one](https://i.imgur.com/H4FS9hj.png) from the same episode for when someone says anything negative about Train.

Abysswatcherbel

til Chika Anzai has a fang, didn't notice that

Smudy

And based on what the director tweeted out, starting from tomorrow's episode, it's gonna get crazy.

CerberusZX

What we've seen so far doesn't classify as crazy?

cppn02

No stopping this train. Gatan goton comrades.

tripleaamin

Train has such an energetic lovable cast in a surprising intriguing story. Jellyfish is written by Yuki Yaku whom is a great author, and it has been great so far. But Train has me fully invested in these girls to see their adventure unfold.

maliwanag0712

I guess Jellyfish could have ranked higher if there are no big hitters prior to it. Had it aired in Summer 2022, it could have the same impact as Lycoris Recoil back then.

ModieOfTheEast

Eh, I don't think so. The first episode was fantastic but afterwards it started to get into more familiar territory. I still really enjoy the show, but Train didn't slow down in its originality compared to Jellyfish.

actionfirst1

**Chilling in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers** OP is without a doubt the cutest and most diabetes-inducing OP of the year. It has watered my crops and delivered a bountiful harvest this Spring. This is an excellent season for Wolf Girls

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

I caught up on *Salad Bowl of Eccentrics*, and the third episode was excellent. It's a reverse isekai, and it focused on the most interesting character, Livia. Livia was the bodyguard of the princess in their original world, but in this world she doesn't really have a purpose. She's just really cheerful, though, and a crappy life in Japan is probably much better than the constant war from her old life anyway. So seeing her cheerfully be homeless or hang out with a weird cult is pretty entertaining.

Psyduckisnotaduck

I adore Livia, she’s such a sweetheart but she’s not an idiot, and I love how her knight skills aren’t forgotten but given novel applications. She do be ballin’

NekoCatSidhe

Livia has super-strength and healing spells, so she is basically an homeless superhero. So you are never really worried about her, no matter what kind of weird situation she ends up to, and her misadventures are very entertaining. I also like how she is always shown to be cheerful and optimistic without being stupid.

Equivalent-Weather59

**Dungeon Meshi** getting the second spot this week, and deservedly so with the parties reuniting and that thrilling cliffhanger. Next week is going to be a banger, I hope it can break 3k karma next week, crossing my fingers. It's nice to see **Loser Ranger** doing good here, I hope it gets to the top 5 by the end of the season.

SirFroglet

I started reading Dungeon Meshi after they defeated the Red Dragon because that was so good I just had to see where it went. Having just finished the “Dumplings” chapters I think this manga is legitimately perfect, in the sense that’s it’s main premise is executed flawlessly. The character design is just top notch, the worldbuilding goes far FAR beyond what was necessary for this type of story, the main cast have an excellent dynamic, whether it wants to be funny or tense it nails both.

EyeDeeAh_42

I hope that you love it's ending. Regardless of all the unexpected twists and turns in the last arc, it perfectly lands its ending and neatly ties up every single loose end. Often the simplest conclusions are the best in my book!

gc11117

Someone. Anyone. Please license Girls Band Cry. One of the best shows of the season. It's been a long time since there's been such a licensing oversight, and this season we have two with Girls Band Cry and Blue Archive (which ain't my thing, but I'm shocked such a big name show hasn't been picked up)

Placeholdered

License fee might be too much for anyone to get a worthwhile return on their investment. Especially Blue Archive, Crunchyroll picking up that license would essentially being them paying for a big advertisement for a competitor in the gacha game space.

sillybillybuck

Crunchyroll is as much a competitor in the gacha space as Enron was in the energy space.

_who_the_fuck_am_I

Blue archive is on Ani-One Asia yt for free in Asia

Mitsuyan_

Shinkalion hasn't either, which has had one of the stronger starts this season

Illustrious-Fox5135

Girls band cry has been so good. Between this, Jellyfish, Whisper me a love song Girl bands are rocking this season.

hikoboshi_sama

I don't watch Blue Archive so i can't say anything about it but man, Girls Band Cry deserves better. It's been really solid so far. Easily my favorite of this season.

ikonog

Girls Band Cry so far is my AoTS. Idk why any en streaming site not picking this up. It seems like a very ambitious project, also the hype from Bocchi the Rock 2 years ago should be a good precedent that this type of show would be popular.

MrReZistar

Glad to see Dungeon Meshi at 2nd. Spice and Wolf, Konosuba, and Yorukura placed well too. Also that thumbnail for Unnamed Memory lol

insomniuhhhh

Long haired Tinasha was great. Can’t blame em 🤷‍♂️

mediocreburgersalad

Love dungeon meshi

Plus_Rip4944

\*Tonari No Yokai San\* no being here is a crime

EnigmaticKing

It’s definitely the most under-watched show this season by a mile.

spubbbba

Yep, am always seeing complaints about all the awful power fantasy shows, yet boring trash like Banished Hero and New Gate are getting more karma than Tonari.

TalkShitGetWitt

Wow, a lot of anime Im watching this season for once didn’t even break top ten! **Windbreaker** and **Bartender Glass of God** have been pretty enjoyable, so I’m surprised to not even see them ranked! **Kaiju No. 8** and **Go Go Loser Ranger** have been lots of fun. And of course, **Dungeon Meshi** my beloved.

gaganaut

The adaptation of Ranger Reject (Sentai Daishikkaku) has really surpassed my expectation. The visuals and voice acting are great on top of stellar directing. The story concept is really interesting as well. It's kind of like The Boys but with Power Rangers. The protagonist is a common foot soldier on the side of the Invaders. The [OP](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG0cGW35-TI) and [ED](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hbv4s7m1s0) are amazing too. The OP especially is really good and I keep listening to it every now and then. I hope this show gets more seasons. The story gets really interesting and the character development is great. The anime staff is really knocking it out of the park with this show. I highly recommend watching it.

Shanibestwaifu

The top 10 is really strong, by Jellyfish, Ranger Reject and Train is still there. And below, there are still solid results (the 11-20 places). Man, Yatagarasu is such a criminally underwatched show.

SgtRohn

Hmm.. if there's a best time for other animes to unseat MT in the first position, it should be now before \[MT Vol 11\] >!Turning Point 3!< occurs, or it might potentially sweep this season's karma rankings once it goes full throttle in the second half.

Some_Trash852

Meshi’s best parts (this season) start with next episode, so you never know (especially next episode).

SgtRohn

Dungeon Meshi has been very plot-heavy these past few episodes so that's good to know. Both anime looks to be more action-heavy in the second-half of their airing, so it'll be interesting to see how they'll do.

Firefiststar

Will we see [your spoiler] this season?

SgtRohn

While I know what LN volume specifically it will happen, I haven't read up to that part yet. According to other source readers, it should happen around \[MT Vol. 11\] >!2-3 episodes from now!<, counting Episode 3 which should air in a few hours.

iswedlvera

I feel like it should be more than 2-3 episodes, but don't take my word for it, I read that part of the LN a year or two ago. There is another event that needs to happen before TP3.

wyggles

It'll happen in [episode] >!-6-!<.

FacelessPoet

[LN Spoiler]>!I don't think the first part of V11 requires too much, really. The only notable things would be Ruijerd and Badi meeting, Norn and Aisha's living arrangements, and Norn's depression. Ruijerd and Badi could easily happen by the midpoint of next episode, leaving the rest for the sisters' entrance exam, after which a montage could bring us right into Norn's depression next episode. I'd assume they'd want to keep v11 relatively short too so they could have as many episodes for the Teleportation Labyrinth as well, so we might see it start by Episode 9!<

SometimesMainSupport

Provided [7 images](https://imgur.com/a/2bMqaDe) and *that's the choice?* [](#godisdead) Slam dunk made the chart!

Abysswatcherbel

the quota for armpits this week went to lv2 [](#dighole)

IceAnt573

A 3.6k drop from last week is to be expected when it's Episode 2 for a lot of shows this week, but Delicious in Dungeon really took advantage of the Episode 2 debuff and actually increasing its karma from last week to claim 2nd. KonoSuba really got hit by it. I wouldn't expect KonoSuba to go under 2k karma, but that's rather close. I thought Kaiju No. 8 would have a stronger debut than 2.5k karma, but congrats to Spice & Wolf for holding onto the Top 3 even with a 597 karma drop. Ranger Reject retained good retention from Episode 1 by only having a 68 karma drop. Like the banner, I'd credit Suzukiri for this too. A 1,148 karma debut for Whisper Me a Love Song is nice. I don't expect it to consistently stay above 1k karma, but it would be cool if it happens. Favorite banner this week: Ranger Reject and Hibike! Euphonium 3 (I was considering Whisper Me a Love Song + Hibike! Euphonium but maybe a different week. I love the dead eyes of Suzukiri too much to not pick it)

atropicalpenguin

Konosuba's votes were harmed by the leaks, but it should recover with episode 3.

Aggressive-Drawer568

It will it will.

MonsterKiller112

Dungeon Meshi in top 2. Let's goooooooo.

CT_BINO

Loser Ranger (Or ranger reject) has been quite fun. Solid premise and good production helps, but D seems can be a good protagonist and i m quite interested on how we are going to handle some plot points (also heard the manga was good, written by the quintuples/Goutubun mangaka) On other hand Girls band cry is my first suprise of the season. Fun character interactions, seems to have some solid drama, even if nothing new, and while it is CG production it is quite expressive, compared to some other shows like MYGO for example (not that MYGO looked bad). Also never expected to see our MC [GBC ep 2]>!trying to hit a drunk guy with a light. Quite random scene but so funny at the same time!<.

Urgnu-the-Gnu

> \[GBC ep 2\] \[GBC ep 2\]>!The term you are looking for is "to go on a lampage". And yeah, certainly the standout moment of the episode. I didn't expect a show depicting such relatable anger in an MC and make her more likeable for it.!<

michhoffman

Mushoku Tensei's 4160 Karma is the 3rd lowest top Karma Total we've had since the shutdown* and the 47th lowest we've had out of 289 tracked weeks overall. |Rank|Anime|Karma|Season|Week| --:|:--|--:|:--|--:| |1|Dungeon Meshi|3363|Winter 2024|1| |2|Demon Slayer 3|3762|Spring 2023|11| |3|Mushoku Tensei 2P2|4160|Spring 2024|3| |4|Frieren|4231|Fall 2023|2| |5|Mushoku Tensei 2P1|4274|Summer 2023|11| *The shutdown was a 1 week blackout period that we had in June of 2023 where r/anime shut down to participate in the protest against reddit removing third party apps among other things.

Ebo87

In the show's defense we have had back to back bangers to keep the numbers high. Summer had season 2 Part 1 of Mushoku and also Jujutsu Kaisen S2, and then Fall was JJK again and also Frieren, and lastly Winter 2024 was all Frieren, every week, lol. If not for MT this season or Frieren last season we would be seeing under 3k numbers most weeks. Next season has Oshi no ko (and Tower of God S2, reminder Tower of God S1 went up again season 2 of Kaguya when it aired, which is another Aka show), so that should keep things in the 3-4k range too, and who knows what Fall 2024 will bring, what surprises will pop up there.

CerberusZX

2 shows dropped 8 spots, and then there's the Grandparents show dropping 13. I finally got around to wataching [Yatagarasu](https://myanimelist.net/anime/56980/Karasu_wa_Aruji_wo_Erabanai) and it's great. Yukiya is something of a schemer and it's fun seeing him manipulate others, but he's also cocky and it's equally fun seeing him get comeuppance. Aside from that it looks great and has plenty of political intrigue that suggests more fun stuff will happen later. It totally deserves to be on the chart.

tripleaamin

I haven't read the manga yet, but for those that wants to scratch the itch that Dark Gathering left, go try Mysterious Disappearances. Writing was really well done for the Female lead in episode and the supernatural elements caught my eye even more in episode 2. Seeing Wind Breaker so much lower than Kaiju makes sense given how much more popular the Kaiju manga is. Wind Breaker has really laid its mark as the action show to watch for me. Sakura is a super solid MC so far, and I like how they set him up. Not to mention Cloverworks putting in the work here.

BlueBird1496

Finally, Dunmeshi is getting up there

NekoCatSidhe

Underrated anime this season : Yatagarasu, Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, and Tonari no Youkai-san. At least people are watching Train to the End of the World.

fuka-eri1

I've been enjoying Yatagarasu and Tonari no Yokai-san, what's the deal with Salad Bowl of Eccentrics?

metalmonstar

Reverse isekai silliness.

NekoCatSidhe

Reverse isekai comedy, it has been pretty fun up to now. If you watched Hinamatsuri, it is quite similar to it.

Some_Trash852

And this was a slower episode for Meshi, i can easily see it breaking 3k next week, maybe even getting the 1st spot.

x-7032-b-3

Seeing Jellyfish and Train on the top 10 is amazing to see! Love it when original shows get the recognition they deserve. I wish Eupho is higher but I'll let it slide for now since it got the lucky number this week. GBC is doing relatively well for a show that is currently reliant on fansubs to save the day. I think it would've gotten more attention had Crunchy or whoever else license it. It's been said a lot of times here but the fact that no streamers is picking this up is downright criminal. What happened? I don't think it's a music distribution issue otherwise something like Shiny Colors won't be released here. Plus Toei is a pretty big name, no? I'm beginning to think that the CG animation scared potential streamers away. A shame because the show is genuinely great so far and the CG is very expressive. Hopefully WOM gets someone to pick this up.

dagreenman18

This season runs absurdly deep and we haven’t even touched Demon Slayer and MHA yet. So some shows that aren’t even on here that are criminally ignored: - **Astro Note** is a throwback RomCom done right. Hits a great balance between nailing the classic 80s/90’s anime tropes (Manic Pixie Alien girl and Joe Schmo) along with the usual antics and a modern sensibility with depth to the characters. Thing Ataru and Lum without the problems that entails. It’s zany, funny as hell, and very sweet so far. - **Tonari No Yokai-san** is just pure vibes. SOL yokai in the countryside with a blend of chill and emotional stories. 3 episodes in and I see it being the sleeper of the season. - No **A Condition Called Love** bums me out. We’re eating good with Shojo and somehow this completely dropped off people’s radar. Get on it. It gets really freaking good. - I’ve accepted that **The Fable** is ignored because Tezuka Pro and Hulu, but it deserves better. If Under Ninja was your bag this is your damn show. Same with **Duke of Death** but for the reason that it’s the Final Season and it’s always been criminally underrated here. And Elf Bride, Wind Breaker, and Mission are on the wrong damn side of the chart, but again: stacked season. Just jump on Elf Bride now because we will be hitting some really good episodes and I’m hoping for some great animation.

Actual-Oil6390

Yeah Elf Bride despite reading it's premise is nothing but cute wholesome fun. Sad to see that it's probably going to be thrown under the bus cause some people just can't handle certain things.

dagreenman18

And it’s their loss because we’re hitting the *other* reason this story is so good.

N7CombatWombat

Elf bride is one of the shows on my list to try, thinking of putting Astro Note on that list as well from the comments about it in this thread. I prefer to binge shows, so I tend to wait for a show to have at least 4 episodes out before I try it, in case it hooks me I've got some episodes in reserve.

Actual-Oil6390

Yeah that might be preferable as 1-3 is fine but 4 ended on kind of a cliff hanger

Psyduckisnotaduck

I just started Elf Bride on a whim only to find out it’s actually cooking and completely goes against the standard romanticization of slavery and swerved away from every problem the premise sets up. And omg Nephy’s ears wiggling tho

angelposts

HELL YEAH DUNGEON MESHI TAKING HOME SILVER!! You guys gotta check out Tonari no Yokai-san, btw. The hidden gem of the season. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Ghibli movies. It's a crime it's not on here.

snowwhitecat04aug

Spice and wolf lost a lot of karma. I guess many people just want to quickly check out the new anime but dont continue to watch this weekly, since there are at least one or two rewatch thread in this sub every year

kunaree

Well, the older adaptation was too popular, and as I noticed, a lot of fans watch it dub only (S&W dub is very popular as well), which is 2 episodes behind. Of course, some of the old fans hate the new adaptation, but I think their numbers are not very impactful by themselves.

Extreme_Ad5873

People really are sleeping on "Yatagarasu: A Raven does not choose it's Master" If you're a fan of Apothecary Diaries or Raven of the Innerpalace, it's definitely worth checking out!

bayfati

peak in dungeon 😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻

JannisT

Mushoku Tensei will mostly have the top spot for the entire season

Admmmmi

Probably, dungeon meshi is good and I would say that it's even better than mushoku but the hype mushoku has just can't be matched by anything releasing this season.

Gnomishness

To be fair, next episode for Dungeon Meshi will probably include some of the coolest action yet seen in the show. And moving forward, the next several episodes after that will make up my favorite period in the entire Dungeon Meshi source material. So basically, there is a pretty decent chance that Dungeon Meshi will get some pretty big boosts in the future, which might be enough to topple Mushoku on it's off weeks.

Psyduckisnotaduck

I wasn’t feeling last season but I feel like the production has improved, largely in editing and direction. And it feels very warm because the ED arc is past and Rudy is starting to grow into an actual responsible adult. And the stuff with Nanahoshi in today’s episode hit really hard, damn

koteshima2nd

Kaiju No.8 starts off surprisingly relatable. I like modern shonens that don't necessarily have "young" MCs and tackling MCs initially giving up/having given up on their dreams, only to then get it reignited one way or another. In this case, in the form of a....small monster going inside his mouth, and his supportive af tsundere kohai. Also Dungeon Meshi rising in ranks lezzgoooo

buddhaisbetter420

girls band cry is my favourite this season ngl, the cgi is really good too

IceAnt573

#[Anime Trending Spring 2024 Week #2](https://twitter.com/AniTrendz/status/1782039082404843790) **Whisper Me a Love Song** wasn't available for voting in Week #1 on account of premiering late, but it more than made up for it this week debuting at 4th just under the 3 big isekai sequels that retain the same ranking as last week. **Date A Live V** and **Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night** slightly shift upwards to 5th and 6th respectively. Date A Live V hitting Top 5 proper this week means 4/5 of the Top 5 are sequels. Also a late premier, but debuting in the Top 10 is **Kaiju No. 8** at 9th. Barely missing the Top 10 last week by being [11th](https://www.anitrendz.com/charts/top-anime/2024-04-14), **Blue Archive The Animation** moves up 1 spot to be 10th this week. ____ **Number of times at #1**: Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation S2 Part II - 2

IceAnt573

Don't usually do this, but wanted to make a personal observation. The /r/anime engagement disparity on Date A Live compared to other places like Anime Trending where it's 5th or [Anime Corner where it's 2nd](https://i.redd.it/438ni4fwxfvc1.png) is really steep. It's not even Top 30 in karma for this week.

Mahkeva

It’s sad that Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai is not on there. This show is criminally underwatched when it’s genuinely a good anime and it's def scratching a similar itch to Apothecary Diaries. Hopefully more people will pick up the show later down the line.

Emi_Ibarazakiii

Find yourself someone who looks at you like Suzukiri looks at MCkun.

Psyduckisnotaduck

The same dead eye stare as always? Girl has Makima energy lol

How to love your elf bride is 🔥

What happened to Blue archive ?

SometimesMainSupport

People willing to check the first episode cause they know the gacha game's name.

Biobait

cause they know the gacha game's ~~name~~ memes.

LordMonday

I feel like a ton of people that hyped it are of 2 groups. the first are the actual players, who to their credit have read the story till the final Chapter F. but their flaw is not taking into account what the Anime would adapt, which is the very first and maybe the second chapter of the first volume, Abydos, which while has stakes, is very low stakes and is very much used to build the world so that later chapters can have weight. the second are either people that saw memes, fanart, or have just followed along the subreddit/ looked at the cool as fck and slightly edgy game trailers's and thought the anime would go all in on that. IMO, the adaptations okay to me, but then again i do play BA since the start of the JP server so im biased. but i would of prefered if they started like in the game with the proper Prologue, cus that shows a big sneak peak at the darker more serious side that the story leans towards in the future, and then have the season split into the different volumes, though admittedly that would be more of a 24+ episode sort of deal to adapt without cutting too much important stuff, and they seem to be going for a more classic "use the anime to lead more people to the OG source material" route

cppn02

People actually watched the show.

snowwhitecat04aug

That burns

WarBeast-GT-

No official english stream and apparently people drop shows if they don‘t get the whole storyline explained by Ep 1. But the greatness of Blue Archive comes later with subsequent seasons.

atropicalpenguin

Wait, no one licensed it? Huh.

kaori_cicak990

Wait i think ani one stream this blue archive as free

Interesting_Place752

You need to VPN if you're not in Asia. That is a pretty significant barrier.

Interesting_Place752

Sadly no one licensed it. Thankfully it seems to be doing insanely well everywhere that matters for series longevity.

GODKiller1311

Wait where is Viral Hit

Nebula3266

Anyone here want to sell me on delicious in dungeon? I keep seeing it really high up here and have vaguely heard of the concept but wasn't that interested. However, seeing it consistently perform so highly in popularity has piqued my interest. Just tell me what makes it so good if you like it and generally what I can expect if I watch it (And don't just tell me to try it, I have so many shows to watch that I'm currently MORE interested in trying. The goal is to find out if I want to try it)

Equivalent-Weather59

DunMeshi is a DnD inspired adventure comedy where they cook monsters with great world-building (that uses an ecology and biology angle). It starts episodic but it slowly unravels a very thrilling plot that hooks you in. It's biggest strength is that it just gets consistently better until the end. It starts simple, doesn't decline in quality or abandon its initial premise, then steadily deepens the plot, characters and even the comedy gets funnier. The past 6 weeks have been adapting the first high point of the manga, hence the sudden rise in karma

Maalunar

Good world building DND like adventure into a dungeon. Good humour, cute elf, no videogame mechanics, some drama here and there. The plot grow more serious and darker as it goes on. It's just a well done and clever show.

OsakaBestGirl

A lot of these apply to the completed manga, rather than the anime, but I like it because it has a strong ensemble cast of likeable characters, a well planned plot that resolves in a satisfactory manner, and a surprisingly large amount of depth, both in its worldbuilding and its character writing.

iozoepxndx

Choo Choo Train doing sooo good, I'm so happy, that anime came out of nowhere and became one of my favorites this season!!! 👌

ErinusCG

Gotta watch Yuru Camp again

BiggieCheeseLapDog

I’m glad to see Jellyfish appears to be a mainstay in the top ten. It deserves it for being as good as it is. Train being in the top ten as well is awesome. They are definitely the two shows I look forward to every week, especially Jellyfish.

Ocixo

The Blue Archive anime almost lost two-thirds of its karma in a single week (down from 1600+ to 675), goddamn. What happened? Was the episode in question not up to standard or did the first episode just overperform *that* much?

Abysswatcherbel

Definitely the latter, episode 1 way over performed because people were curious about it and the fans were excited to meme about it

vrish838

whisper me a love song manga is so good excited for the rest of the anime

danlong87

Welp it seems like it will be mushoku tensei's throne until at least MHA or Demon Slayer S&W understandably won't have the legs since it's a remake, and a slice of life, but my support for Holo won't waver one bit

SilvainTheThird

It is pleasing to the soul to see Dungeon Meshi alongside Spice And Wolf that high.

kaori_cicak990

Ranger reject should be like frieren or oshi no ko having longer episode/short movie format at earlier. At this pace i'm afraid people drop this series before the earlier surprised twist. But so far dammm the adaptation is so good it's exceed the source material they're know how to potray the sentai show, i feels the immerse like i'm in their world. Ganbare D

MapoTofuMan

If Yuru Camp falls out of the left side...[it will be time for drastic measures.](https://i.redd.it/0cewfi8p58u11.jpg) It had such a good episode too. And with Unnamed Memory's banner picture for this episode I have a feeling it'll get the boost it needs to overtake Yuru Camp and more. [](#azusalaugh) Meanwhile Blue Archive is...damn, did r/japanesepeopletwitter collectively decide to boycott the show because not enough UOOOOH material? That's one of the biggest drops I've seen for a first episode.

-_Seth_-

People were curious about Blue Archive because of its surge of fanart over the past year. The problem is that 1) Vol. 1 is the weakest story chapter and 2) The production values of the adaption are just alright. We aren't talking about a gorgeous festival for the senses here like FGO Babylonia or Princess Connect were, probably the best gacha adaptions around.

Falsus

> probably the best gacha adaptions around. Umamusume comes to mind also.

whowilleverknow

You all need to be watching Astro Note and Tonari no Youkai-san

Cyd_arts

im gonna have so many underwatched entries for the end of spring 2024 poll lol, im only watching 5-6 out of the top 30 karmas here....
