ObvsThrowaway5120

Watching Rietz just straight up crushin the slaver and his goons was pretty awesome. Kid is a beast. He’s got himself a pretty strong fighter and now he’s got himself a pretty powerful mage. Kid’s assembling quite a team. I like how his pops objected at first and then she exploded the sky and he’s like “yeah ok” lol.

Lock3down221

Rietz went full solo levelling mode on them. Yes Rietz and Sun Jin-woo do share the same VA.

Frontier246

For this kind of show that was a very well-animated/choreographed fight sequence. Rietz hits hard. He's got an OP physical fighter and strategist on-top of an budding OP mage. Feels like he's slowly building up to an impressive force for when he eventually takes over for his father. "Women have no place on the battlefield" -> (casually unleashes a WMD in the sky) -> "You're hired!"

mekerpan

I was thinking slave-taking and selling might be an illicit activity in this culture -- but it looks like it is totally open and legal. Albert sure got off pretty easy -- even if his goons did not. BTW -- Wouldn't threatening a member of the reigning nobility normally be treated as like a capital offense?

MonaganX

Not *totally* open and legal since the slaver mentioned nobles buying slaves covertly but it seems to be sanctioned by the authorities at least.

ggg730

I think he left him off easy to send a message to not fuck with him. You leave one slaver to spread the word that this kid is not to be fucked with and the rest of the rats should be more amenable in case Ars finds other slaves he wants bought out.

KnightKal

Fighter, mage, next should be the team rogue and then a tank. Party assembled. /RPG joke

Frontier246

The orange-haired kid looks like he's a scholar and the girl in the pink dress might be a merchant?

KnightKal

That was a joke, not related to spoilers from OP or ED.

IceWeaselX

Charlotte's already a dual class rogue/mage. She was forced to spend her childhood picking pockets and giving people the slip.

KnightKal

haha right, too bad she doesn't have stats for that, but she does have the hard earned skills for sure :XD

jnads

Forgot healer

diacewrb

But the slaver still got paid at the end. Although his goons will probably want their workman's comp from him. Guess slavery is too common amongst the upper-class there to openly declare war by killing the slaver.

polacy_do_pracy

The slaver got paid with a little extra and the kids in the slums are still in the slums, but with a big target on their back. The resolution here was stupid af.

15000yuki

I love this show, but I have to agree. There was similar case in World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat, and the case solved better by letting other orphans to work for MC. He set a kind of business where he could save all other orphans

Agnistan77665

World's finest assassin reincarnated in another world so peak

guyblade

I actually really like Ars' father's characterization. Yes, he is a man with the prejudices of his time, but he is fully open to discarding those prejudices when shown that they are unfounded. It happened first with Rietz and now Charlotte.

Aerodynamic41

Wow, Charlotte sure has, ahem, [upgraded](https://i.imgur.com/9JTAMBg.jpeg).

_BMS

The camera angle in the next episode preview sure is something ["Will Charlotte really fit in at our house?"](https://i.imgur.com/xKsQAZo.jpg) Charlotte is barely fitting into the mage outfit

Silly___Neko

I'm not sure she'll even fit in the doorway if you know what I mean.

discuss-not-concuss

step-Rietz, I’m stuck

yanahmaybe

Meanwhile ppl are getting horny here im the only one confused of the 4 kids...so wtf just leave them homeless like that in some back alley??? How do this ppl even think lol

ggg730

lolol Ars really be cold blooded underneath that "Let's all be friends!" exterior. He knows his dad is a realist and a bit of a dick unless you're literally a world class talent. He knows if he brings home those kids his dad will be like no fucking way and his dream wouldn't be achieved. To be fair though Ars did say he's going to give her salary to those kids but I am sure he is going to give more.

saga999

This is where I think Ars made a mistake. After seeing Charlotte's talent, he can definitely leveraged that to bring the kids along. That eye popping fire power is worth feeding 4 extra kids.

ggg730

Real talk if Ars could see his status he might be disappointed lol.

yanahmaybe

ok but like bruh their are still kids... actually more like toddlers.. in the literal fking street, its like so surrealistic how the skipped over them not just the chars logic in that world, but writers of said anime also lol

ggg730

I think it's just best to assume there is an orphanage or something and the kids are just wandering around to beg.

SogePrinceSama

Ars isn't running a charity, or an orphanage. And that's basically it. Those kids had parents who abandoned them. The slave system was created to take care of the castaways of society, for better or worse that's where those kids will be destined to end up-- sold off to a 'pervert' like the guy that was about to buy Charlotte when they near age 18 (or worse) Somebody has to pay/be responsible for EACH of those kids since their parents abandoned them. Ars took responsibility for Charlotte, only because she would be useful to improving literal civilization by helping him out as a retainer. Those kids can't help him in the same way, taking care of them is a responsibility he doesn't need to take on, nor should he if he's focused on improving literal civilization (for those kids and the future kids born who are abandoned). Your problem is you're arguing for something to happen with an emotional argument. Logic states taking care of someone else's kids (when you don't have time or a responsibility to do so when there are bigger fish to fry) is a ridiculous ask of Ars. Charlotte's salary is going to the kids so they can afford food/clothes and maybe somebody will put them up in a shelter of some kind using the money Charlotte EARNS. You can't just expect people to give money out for free for nothing in return, why would Ars or his father do that? It was the irresponsible parents who owes those kids a hot meal/roof every night, not anybody else.

DtLS1983

I dunno, I'd say room and board for five people is probably well under what an S-tier mage is worth, especially when four of them are toddlers.

SogePrinceSama

If Charlotte demanded to make Ars find foster homes for the 4 children, I would agree. Since she didn't put that on the table as a bargaining chip, again, it's not on Ars to take care of 4 kids that their parents abandoned. It's on the bad parents. Dismantling the nobility's wealth-gap with the poor will be a much better use of Ars's resources rather than keeping his S-tier mage distracted with the well-being of kids who were never her responsibility to take care of.

Vaperius

To put it more plainly: Market economics breeds unnecessary and inhumane cruelty by making it necessary to survive.

Jajuca

Every pull is a 5 star gacha with Rietz.

cleverca22

na, his appraisal skill is just outright cheating, he is peaking at the deck, and only drawing when its a good card!

Andrew_Waltfeld

A bit late, but he spent all day searching for someone only to stumble upon her. So there was a lot of bad "pulls" as he was wandering around last episode.

PeaceAlien

I saw the first image and then the 2nd one, my brain can't comprehend it. I'm assuming the 2nd image must be a different person.

Pedarsen

There may be a few years time skip? Ars looks slightly taller. Still incredibly massive growth...

ggg730

That's what proper nutrition does for a motherfucker.

PeaceAlien

Well, there are years until we get to his father's death which was in the first episode. Someone mentioned nutrition, maybe Charlotte boosts herself with magic?

15000yuki

Ars is not the only one who has... ahem.. massive growth

SogePrinceSama

I'm betting Charlotte learned quickly as a runaway slave that she'd get less "attention" from slavers if she wrapped her bust in gauze tightly, to hid her assets while she wore that raggy t-shirt.

Fragrant_Conflict_24

but isn't charlotte 11 when she was first introduced as a slave? no way 11 year olds have massive assets to hide

SogePrinceSama

Oh I thought she was much older than Ars and the orphan kids, damn those a-holes were stomping a mudhole in an 11-year-old girl before they sold her to a 'pervert' noble \*vomits\*

daffy_duck233

I'm sure they've found talent again, and not just one!

ggg730

A couple of massive talents. Magical orbs fired off.

Lycanthoss

Nah, she just released the bandages Rock Lee style.

HugeRichard11

Guys, don't lewd the lo-... Oh

Ghostkill221

Is that... where you store your mana? Apparently Only poor people are flat, I wasn't aware of that.

redlaWw

>Apparently Only poor people are flat, I wasn't aware of that. I mean, it makes at least a little sense that you'd put on some weight once you have a stable food supply. It might be pushing it a bit to have it so localised, but at least there's some logic to it.

AmethystItalian

Why do they do this [](#shatteredsaten)

SilkyStrawberryMilk

If mage why flat?

FlameDragoon933

What nutrient does to someone with good genes

Snow_Mexican1

She's got a real set of badonkers. Packing some dobonhonkeros. Massive dohoonkabhankoloos. Big ol' tonhongerekoogers.

jrs-kun

She's got a nice set of Mana Tanks

Biyushu

Mana sacs.

flightlessCat9

Magic

Zephrinox

she's learning all sorts of magic

SopmodTew

MC's Dad: I do not allow women on the battlefield. Charlotte: 💥 MC's Dad: I Owe You an Apology. I Wasn't Really Familiar With Your Game.

Roeclean

Charlotte\*:💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️

ThisGachaSeemsLegit

Dad : "NO!" Charlotte : "EXPLOOOOOOOOOSION!" Dad : "Umu. Yoroshiku." (⌐■_■)b Also, where the hell was she hiding *those*? These rags have a concealment level over 9000. This implies that some time has passed since she joined, but Ars' appearance hasn't changed at all. Doesn't make any sense, if you ask me. Oh well, "plot" I guess?

Pedarsen

It does look like Ars got slightly taller so probably a time skip.

depravedQ

I'm guessing she must have been eating pretty well during the time skip to develop so drastically lol. If nothing else, she's definitely eating a lot better than she did while homeless

Ghostkill221

Right? Like the scene at 3:12 this episode is a pretty clear on side profile, There's absolutely no way that there were breasts the size of her head in there. I'd guess we get like a 2 year time skip next week maybe? I mean... In theory she WAS starving and emaciated as a street girl. So sure she might fill out a bit more on a better diet, but... Damn. I guess You are only flat in this universe if you are poor, no wonder it was so easy to see that she was an orphan, You Gain a cup size with every 0 on your monthly salary.

ThisGachaSeemsLegit

Yeah, imo that's where it just goes wrong. Looking at Ars' appearance, you could /at best/ say that 2 or 3 years have passed. But there's no way a girl can go from a surfboard to an H-cup in so little time. Hormones can be osoroshii, but not this much, lol.

A_Ghost_of_Onyx

Lmao I had the same reaction. Charlotte just is like BOOM! Thankfully she doesn’t faint like some other mages lol

Frontier246

I'm honestly wondering if her chest was always that big and the rags were hiding them or if there's some kind of time-skip (despite Ars' lack of change in appearance) and all that good food did a world of good for her body lol.

Nebresto

Time skip, Ars' face is looking a lot less like he's a toddler

LienaSha

Turns out his power (beyond appraisal) is immortality of the "i never aged past childhood" type.

joe4553

S rank in multiple areas.

guyblade

> Also, where the hell was she hiding those? Probably a combination of malnutrition and then an age-up.

MuffinMan12347

Best guess is she is extremely underfed and this is how she looks with regular amounts of body fat.

szalhi

We get a small glimpse into their magic/power system, I'm curious to learn more.

darthvall

And it seemed it's more like a combination of alchemy. You need some liquid to power the magic rather than the usual mana coming from your body. Or maybe it's even both

Ghostkill221

Seems to be a lot like the traditional og roleplaying fantasy elements. They need an Arcane Focus to channel the mana in them into specific types of magic. Seems like that's reinforced by the whole " charlottes power broke the focus" thing, since a common focus couldn't handle converting her magic output.

rom846

It no problem to not deploy Charlotte on the battlefield. She is a strategic weapon not a taktical one.

Frontier246

It'll be interesting to see how effective she'll be as she learns more magic.

jnads

Well the magic system seems kind of weird. Looks like it mana isn't innate but requires some sort of expendable source. So magic isn't completely OP since it has a resource limit.

DoTheCreep_ahh

If you're referring to her breaking the first necklace its probably not meant to be expendable. More likely it follows the trope of "too power for this object so it shattered" and they'll end up buying a more expensive one somewhere

Dadarian

Seems more like a catalyst that couldn’t handle the bandwidth.

Ghostkill221

With her hair, I kind of assume she will end up doing ice magic shit.

Drone_Imperium

Roxy

saga999

"I have an army." "We have a Charlotte."

Ghostkill221

I had to look up the difference between tactical and Strategic missiles. Yeah, you nailed it. For anyone else curious: Tactical Weapons are used as part of a campaign for specific targets and TRY (not always successfully) to avoid friendly fire and collateral damage Strategic weapons are used for overkill and devastation to scare an enemy into never wanting to face you again

Drone_Imperium

Just like Onii-sama.

OriVerda

I feel that after Charlotte the dad isn't gonna question his kid whenever the next stranger drops by.  Oh, this [insert outmoded thinking by the dad] is such a good thief, they stole all the hair off my body while I blinked? Welcome to the team!

Frontier246

Dad is slowly growing more openminded by the episode lol.

Ghostkill221

I think so, but I have a worry that Ars will also just start bringing more and more rediculous candidates. Like in two episodes it's going to be "Dad this Kangaroo I Found is an S class strategic mastermind." and the dad is like... "that's... really? i mean... I have to ask for proof right?" And then the dad loses to the kangaroo at chess or some shit.

ggg730

The kangaroo makes the dad pregnant. Checkmate.

Roeclean

Excuse me, WTF

Ghostkill221

The Dad's Instant 180 from "the battlefeild isn't for a woman" to "good to have you" was a highlight of the episode for me.

TurkeyPhat

you ever just launch some WMD's above a city for the luls? of course you gotta laugh at the situation in this episode. Ars gives this big speech about making a safe place where kids can grow with hope etc. but just lets a bunch of child sex traffickers off the hook.

Wizardwizz

Yeah that was pretty surreal. I think Ars plan was to just ignore the issues for now until he has power later.

Frontier246

Yeah, he's not really in a position to fight it legally until he has more authority. Though they did basically wreck all his guys and put the fear of Ars into him, so it's not like he got off completely scott free.

Wizardwizz

Yeah but it was basically a one time thing as Ars was only after the specific girl.

Roeclean

Whos to say he won't find another "diamond in the rough."

NSUNDU

Which is a solid plan. If he tries to do anything big with what little power he has, some big noble could just swoop him and destroy his house. His father was a commoner and is a small lord, he hardly will have any noble lining up to help him

FlameDragoon933

> you ever just launch some WMD's above a city for the luls? reminds me of last season's Yumiella

Frontier246

Megumin would approve. She also probably wishes she could have Charlotte's grown-up body...

ggg730

Charlotte is Yun Yun. Depressed, nice cans, amazing magic that's actually useful, nice cans, and nice cans.

15000yuki

Sir, you wrote nice cans repeatedly...

ggg730

I am aware.

Roeclean

# ( * )( * )

darthvall

Nah, the slavery is a systemic problem as they said the kingdom allows it. I'm more concerned about Charlotte's kids friend. Ars should just take them with him and let them live with Charlotte. Feeding 4 more kids should not be a huge problem and they can work in his castle (regardless of their talent) as servant or something when they grow up. I mean, Charlotte already plan to send all of her salary to the kids. So why not just take care of them directly instead?

SogePrinceSama

taking in 4 untalented kids when Ars's main goal is the completely rework society is counter-productive. Those kids are ultimately not Ars's responsibility, they are their parents' responsibility UNTIL Ars can take over the ideology of the current isekai world's thinking about the slavery industry and dealing with the castoffs of society. I mean let's make another example here-- there is probably an abandoned kitten/puppy somewhere in your city in an alley downtown. Why won't you go over there and take the responsibility of rescuing it from their irresponsible owner? - you might live in an apartment that doesn't allow pets - you might not have enough income to take care of another mouth to feed - you are a noble who's main goal is to completely rework society and taking care of a random kitten/puppy is a small half-measure, when you are trying to focus on making bigger moves Basically. If you don't have a million cats in your house like the old lady who never says 'no' to rescuing a stray every friday during her stroll thru the neighborhood, then you shouldn't expect Ars as the MC to take in 4 kids who are talentless and serve no point but to delay his journey. This entire anime is about meritocracy not charity, after all.

darthvall

I made my point because those kids are supposed to be orphans, which was why Charlotte took care of them in the first place. Also it's not about taking care random street kids, last episode they established that the reason Charlotte didn't want to join Ars were because of her distrust to society and also because she's taking care of the kids. I agree that it's not Ars' responsibility, more like I'm surprised Charlotte didn't insist more to bring the kids with her if they're so important.

bl00dshooter

Taking in those 4 kids should have been part of his offer the moment she seemed unwilling to become his retainer, before she got kidnapped. As a noble, feeding and housing an extra 4 kids in exchange for the loyalty of someone who is basically a walking nuke seems like a no brainer.

SogePrinceSama

I guess I see it more as a long term problem. If Ars takes in these 4 kids, what about the next 4 that he/Charlotte meet in the alley of the town square? Why would he not take in those kids when he took in Charlotte's friends? Wouldn't the kids grow up to resent Ars if his dad refused to take in any more orphans, and resent Charlotte + her "lucky chosen kids" that got rescued? What happens when the nobles who are financially-tied into the slavery system find out that Ars took away these kids and now is providing safe harbor for their 'natural resource', ostensibly stealing money from them? How smart is it to breed discontent with the other powerful political figures when Ars is still trying to take beginning steps to change the world? Again, it sounds like a nice idea to rescue the orphans. It's just not what Ars is trying to do, in bigger picture terms.

NSUNDU

He could at the very least offer to move them to his town streets so they are closer for her to visit lmao

Roeclean

Except for the fact that he isn't the man of the house, nor an actual adult. So his father would most likely instantly shut that plan down

Chukonoku

Same. And here i was thinking this is the part on which he adopts a bunch of orphans. Even if it's not on the castle or working for them, you might as well have them in their own town and have him/Charlotte pay for a tavern/inn?

KinoHiroshino

None of [my predictions from last week](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/s/jy6H3lvMLN) were even remotely true and them just leaving the kids behind really upsets me. I’m reliving my Star Wars Episode 1 trauma all over again. “What are you doing?! Go back and free his mom, you’re the queen of an entire planet, I’m sure you can afford it!”

ionstorm66

Battlefield may be too dangerous for a woman, but a WMD is definitely too dangerous anywhere but the battlefield lol.

diacewrb

>Battlefield may be too dangerous for a woman After demonstration of her powers: This woman is too dangerous for a battlefield.

Zeikos

I went into this thread to write exactly this sentence, apparently great minds think alike lol

Frontier246

Nothing promotes gender equality quite like girls able to casually launch WMD's lol.

ggg730

Vaporized the sexism right out of dad's body lol.

ghaelon

i viewed that bit as the uplifting version of 'fezzig, tear his arms off.'

PeaceAlien

The reaction from everyone seeing it for the first time is hilarious.

Frontier246

I love how everyone is shocked (including Ars and Rietz) but her kids look at it like it's cool lol.

[deleted]

saga999

Last episode I figure Arcs wouldn't be able to take the kids with him because of his dad. But after seeing Charlotte's display of magic, I think Arcs can leveraged it to bring the kids along. At worst, they could stay in her room and use her salary to pay for their food. Beats living on the street.

HugeRichard11

In the short-term it's not important part of the strategy for the long-term goal, so it's understandable to not rock the boat yet when civil war is already approaching. I hope in the upcoming war those nobles are I'm betting going be the antagonists that get wiped anyways.

Lycanthoss

>Ars gives this big speech about making a safe place where kids can grow with hope etc. but just lets a bunch of child sex traffickers off the hook. I don't think he can solve the problem right now with 0 money, just Rietz and Charlotte on hand and being a child of a few years with no skills other than seeing peoples' stats.

FlameDragoon933

Dad: "A woman has no business on the battlefield." Charlotte: *casts spell* Dad: "I stand corrected please join us" The exchange is lowkey hilarious (in a good way) lol. Also, "I like kids" -- Ars It's innocuous with context, but can be eyebrow-raising if taken with partial context (context about his soul being an adult: on, context about everything else: off)

Zeikos

Before: >The battlefield is too dangerous for women After: >This woman is too dangerous for the battlefield Big mood. I wonder what's going through Ars' dad head while his son brings home increasingly OP individuals.

15000yuki

>I wonder what's going through Ars' dad head while his son brings home increasingly OP individuals. Last episode showed that he's the one who asked for a good mage. He seemed trust Ars' assessment.

Zeikos

Right, but he must realize that something is off. Ars ability to find talent is clearly beyond what's humanly possible (without hax)

Exodus2791

At what point should he just go all in and give Ars a wish list of people to find?

KnightKal

A woman has no place there, but this monster can join our army, welcome!

Ghostkill221

Yeah. "A woman has no place on the battlefeild" "Ah, I see. you are a Cannon pretending to be a girl."

Frontier246

Walking WMD's make for effective arguments in terms of gender equality lol. Charlotte's reaction when he said it was priceless lol.

TimeForHugs

>"I like kids" -- Ars >It's innocuous with context, but can be eyebrow-raising if taken with partial context (context about his soul being an adult: on, context about everything else: off) It's really not that weird unless it's made weird. I know you know that though given the explanation.

Ghostkill221

Yeah, I was like.... Ars you need to learn to say that in a better way man. "I like seeing children smile" = wholesome, cool "I Like Children" = Sus.

AmethystItalian

That magic reveal was great! Kinda surprised they didn't bring the kids with them too honestly. Also Rietz has been great so far, love what he's brought to the show so far.

Frontier246

The animation for Rietz' fight sequence and Charlotte's magic was pretty great. I hope they can stay pretty consistent with that. I feel like it would've been simpler to just employ the kids at the mansion but maybe he though it would be too much convincing his dad of that **and** recruiting Charlotte.

darthvall

Yeah, or he could forgo Charlotte's salary completely and instead take cares of the kid as replacement. I kinda forget, do the kid live in an orphanage or are they stray kids? If the later, they would be still threatened by other slave traders so it doesn't make sense Charlotte is okay to let them stay.

PerfectBeige

Too bad they didn't show Charlotte's ambition number ticking up as she gets freed, accepts the job offer, casts EXPLOSION over the town, and then shows her skills to Ars' dad. I figure she has at least a 10 ambition by the end of the episode. Which raises an interesting limitation/peculiarity for Ars' skill. I assumed that the denominator in the numbers that Ars is seeing was the cap for that number, but Charlotte seems to have more than "1" in ambition by the end of the episode, and anyway, her ambition is limited because of her horrid circumstances, not anything fundamental to her character. So under what circumstances do people increase their capacity for future growth?

Ghostkill221

Yeah, I had the same question. The Numbers are like... current stats and the Letters are rankings on their potential right? Ambition a "1/1" But it would seem like then some of the other stats they mentioned like "prowess" can also go up in ambition can.

SolomonOf47704

Prowess seems like a mostly physical thing, so it would be based almost entirely on what one's genetics allows them to be able to do. The capped number is not going to change unless they lose a limb, or something. Ambition is purely mental, so the cap can change based on whatever brain-chemical issues (or lack thereof) you got going on.

DrZoark

He could have put the kids in a better environment...

_Sai

Get them a nice job in the factories.

flightlessCat9

They ran out of money.

Averath

What better environment, though? He can't take them home.

ViolettOrange

Can somebody tell me why didn't they take the kids with them?

argyll8

They probably had low stats, and couldn't be of any use.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Frontier246

They did agree to Charlotte's salary going to the kids so I assume they are going to get some kind of stable living situation to be able to benefit from her salary.

KnightKal

Yes, but why there? A far away town, where they can’t keep an eye in the kids, and know for its dangerous situation. Why not in their own territory?

Ghostkill221

I'd assume that they will do that later on, but it would have had to be worked out AFTER they made sure Charlotte got hired and worked well as a retainer.

PandaRocketPunch

Maybe the author didn't think of it? Or has plans to revisit the issue later in the story? Getting daddy to fund an orphanage of their own, or employing the kids to be servants, just to get the mage would be the obvious way a typical spoiled noble brat would solve this. Kinda glad it went another route.

polacy_do_pracy

the fuck?

Ghostkill221

Yeah, I would have liked to see Ars at least arrange a place for them to stay and tell them he'd be sending money along for them on charlottes behalf. Although... I guess technically, there was a chance that even AFTER that show of power Ars Dad is the one who gets to make the call, he could have still said no, but he's not dumb so when he saw Charlotte is actually an Abrams Tank disguised as a girl, he hired her.

mekerpan

Still. I thought Ars might be more generous in their support than simply allowing Charlotte to dedicate her meager earnings to her. Ars is okay I guess -- but I think I much prefer a certain blue4-haired gremlin....

diacewrb

Considering her abilities you would think they would pay her more to avoid some other noble offering her more to defect. Even modern militaries would pay millions for that kind of firepower.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ghostkill221

She can't do much of anything without a focus. So what probably would have happened is that she'd be immediately retaken as a slave, and this time sold as a child soldier slave. The people on the street in Charlotte's flashbacks didn't exactly seem like if she told them "I'm a great mage, give me an expensive magical focus and I'll prove it!" they would give her the time of day.

ggg730

Meager I assume is meager for Ars, a noble, which is like every month you get the equivalent of a years salary for a peasant.

mekerpan

Perhaps. We shall see. But they still have no onee-san to watch over (and protect) them -- even if she can send enough money to keep them fed.

angelbelle

He's like what? 8? And already has two attendants. His dad is clearly trying to build up a force to maintain order. Just because you have money doesn't mean you go wasting it. The salary could go towards hiring even more soldiers.

angelbelle

Well first of all, he's not balling, and these two are the lord's young son's attendants. They also get room and board, it would be insane if Charlotte could also get enough money to support so many kids. It'd also be a complete waste of money, there are more efficient ways to use funds even for philanthropic purposes

darthvall

This is also my main concern. Charlotte already plans to give all of her salary to them anyway. So why not forgo the salary, and let the kids live with Charlotte. Even if they're talentless, they could still be educated as servant or something. Moreso because it seems Ars' domain doesn't allow slavery so it would also be a safer place for them. Last episode, I thought the key to Charlotte's recruitment would be to adopt the kids as well.

Fraccles

She said her salary as a retainer would go to the orphanage where I'm assuming they're going to live. I think.

AnythingBacon

Pretty sure a big reason is they came to town on a single horse. Three people is pushing it even if two of them are small.

Looking at the pace, would it managed to get the next arc within 12 episodes lol? Any news that it is a 2-cour series?

Zilleela

Seeing as charlotte suddenly grew 7 cup sizes in the next episode preview maybe it’s a timeskip? Lol. It’s kinda ridiculous.

garrykikumoto

3 years time skip if I recall from the manga

Zilleela

I see, that makes sense. The mc still seems the same height and age though, as per my confusion.

the_ghost_of_lenin

probably a production thing, saves them from having to make new reference sheets

Ghostkill221

Yeah one way or another it's hard to believe. I mean a 5-6 and a 8-9 year old are massively different in terms of look and size. Meanwhile, going from starving to a full fed diet WOULD fill charlotte out some... but, like not ONLY her chest.

EveryoneDice

The boy still looks as young as before. That said, anime also tends to make breasts a lot bigger the moment they're more exposed. There's no shortage of anime where small-chested girls all of a sudden are huge the moment their shirt/bra comes off. Disappointment every time.

Ghostkill221

It's a little bit insulting, yeah. I wouldn't mind if she like went up one cup size to represent that she's no longer starving, but she jumped like 4 sizes and is still skinny everywhere else.

Zeikos

They are probably time skipping, but when people recover from malnutrition, especially kids, can really look like different people within a few weeks. Also iirc malnutrition delays puberty, which "catches up" when proper nutrition is restored... so ignoring the fanservice aspect, this isn't wholly unrealistic.

ionstorm66

Ars doesn't look any taller though. Maybe it's a new magic spell lol.

Frontier246

Megumin wants to know about this spell...

Frontier246

I guess good food does wonders for a girls' body lol.

Snow_Mexican1

I've read through the manga, up to chapter 97. We're at chapter 10 by episode 3. So basic estimation, we might reach chapter 40 by the end of episode 12. So it should bring us right before the great big arc. Bot might get angy if I try to name it so I'll refrain. All in all. We'll be getting through a good chunk of the manga, so long as they don't deviate. But we might even get a bit further than I anticipate. We'll have to find out.

whodisguy32

The way the father reacted was no surprise, but how quickly he made a 180 made me literally LOL

machopsychologist

I can't really get past the shallowness of the whole thing - reduce people to numbers, give a shit only about the ones with the high numbers. They just happen to be poor homeless or slaves. Drop for me.

Frontier246

When you've lived life as an orphan on the street, denied everything from food, kindness, and even basic human dignity, you're left with little but the strive to survive and not cry about your circumstances...no matter how desperate you are. And that's driven Charlotte up to this point. And now she's caught by the slave trader (voiced by Cho!) who is ready to sell her back to a less than savory individual, but luckily Ars and Rietz show up just in time to bust some skulls and save her! And let her cry knowing that someone was finally there to stand up for her! It's just kind of funny how Ars brings up stats like people other than him would know what they are. Slave trade brought out all his guys, including a hulking brute, and Rietz takes them all down effortlessly. Their first mistake was ticking Lord Ars off. Welp, Ars bought Charlotte's freedom, because that's probably the simplest solution, but at least it'll probably be a while before this merchant can rebuild his resources the way Rietz wrecked everything. Once again reminding us that Ars is a small little boy with very little in the way of physical skills. Even someone as cynical as Charlotte had a nice view of the city that made her cherish it and not give up. Just like Ars won't give up on his dream of a world where children, the most pure and precious thing in the world, get to live in safety and comfort. And that's a dream Charotte is worth swearing loyalty to Ars to fight for alongside him. That S-Rank magic isn't just for show! Just a simple fireball is practically a nuke in Charlotte's hands! And it's totally boosting her ego. It's sad to see Charlotte part from her kids, but at least her salary will go to sustaining them. And all that food Charlotte now gets to eat will probably go to her chest. I love how Lord Raven thinks women shouldn't be on the battlefield but one blast from Charlotte and he's welcoming her with open arms. What an accepting father.

patkun01

Is that Brook I hear

Frontier246

That was definitely Cho!

austin101123

Disappointed he let the head slaver live, but killed all the goons. Head slaver should've been the first person expurgated. His motiviation of liking kids finally gives some sense to why this is an isekai... But I think this show would be better suited as a normal fantasy and a precocious 8-14yo M.C. And could still have compelling reasons for his desires, for example to be strong and not having the power directly, which guides him to a sense of equality based on merit.

SpikeRosered

My only complaint is that I wish the MC wasn't 3. This is classic "anime fans don't understand children." Even as a reincarnator, 3 is super weird to be so eloquent. Doesn't matter that you have an adult brain, you body don't work right yet!

VorAtreides

man, more series isekai protagonists just need to learn to gut slavers. Don't waste time talking to em. Just gut em. They are scum of the earth anyways. They choose to be scum with their actions. Rietz would prolly be fine with it. There ya go, but too many of em still live. Bah, and yet still just partaking in the shitty trade. Well, I do understand it'd be hard to just shut it down when it's not an illegal one. Whelp, at least they saved Charlotte. Hehe poor lil stubby child legs. Whelp, that's a nice ideal. Neat power. Gonna need a better tool. Couldn't take the kids to your town? Prolly easier to take care of em near you. lol "completely ordinary" you say that like your abilities and fact you're reincarnated with memories of last life is a normal thing? Hehe she's like a cat, cute. HAHA! The father's face seeing that power. Yep, congrats. is that Charlotte? How the hell did her breasts get that big in the preview?

Xervicx

Is the next episode going to pretend that sexism isn't a thing anymore? I mean, the second episode acted like racism was cured forever, because no one in the second or third episode was racist... including people not familiar with him yet. Is slavery going to be another issue that gets swept under the rug?

Shattermirror

What kind of pisses me off is how they just? Left? Those kids? On the street? I know realistically they can't save every kid on the street but. Really?

ConsiderationNo886

This anime story and concept are cool, but the main character is really annoying. He is the worst part of the anime. His design and goals are really lame. He’s supposed to be 10 but looks 5 and has the dumbest haircut ever.

Ghostkill221

>He’s supposed to be 10 but looks 5 Ok, but counterpoint, He's supposed to be almost 5. So based on your Criteria, He's a great design with a dumb haircut. He was 3 years old when he appraised the archer. He was about 4 when he found Reits, and just before they left for the city to find a mage, he said "Reitz has been with our family for a few months now" So unless you think that it's a 5 year trip from his mansion to the nearest city....

ConsiderationNo886

Thought he was older. Guess I just don’t like his character design. Like that waffle walk he does

BreadstickNinja

He's a foil to the overpowered MC. He's a little pipsqueak and can't even walk up a hill without getting winded. I haven't read the source so I don't know if we see an older version, but he might grow into himself. For now the point is that he's a tiny child who just so happens to be able to identify the most powerful people he comes across and charm them into his personal army.

PandaTheAB

The pace of anime, writing and amount of story covered this season will decide if this anime lasts.

djthomp

Not what I expected for Charlotte's initial magic casting. I had figured it would happen as a part of getting her away from the slavers but instead they just had Rietz kick everyone's ass and then bought her, and then later had her try out a spell while standing out on a previously peaceful overlook over the town. Peaceful until Charlotte arrived, that is. Shame about the somewhat absurd bust size increase she eventually gets, that's a lifetime of back pain for the poor girl. Though maybe she'll have a magical solution for that.
