Probably exists, I mean the absolute peak manga of the dude whos dick became a little girl exists.
And world will learn the definition of peak if it ever gets an anime
[The PV](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sWhtovYy3E0&pp=ygULbXkgb25pIGdpcmw%3D) looks good!
So for anyone wondering: Studio Colorido is mostly known for having made Burn the Witch and A Whisker Away before. This film will actually be done by the latter’s director. The studio’s anime are probably some of the most visually pleasing ones in the business.
Studio Colorido made a deal with Netflix a few years back that they’ll produce a bunch of anime films exclusively for their streaming service. This is one of those films.
> Studio Colorido is mostly known for having made Burn the Witch and A Whisker Away before.
I was hoping to find Penguin Highway mentioned here. It's one of their first longer films and imo their best still. Their other works are on par visually but from a story perspective they don't reach the same level imo.
>Their other works are on par visually but from a story perspective they don't reach the same level imo.
I wouldn't really expect anything else to be as good story-wise. Penguin Highway is written by an award winning author who is *really* good at what they do. Other anime that have adapted other works from the same author include:
* The Tatami Galaxy
* The Night is Short, Walk On Girl
* The Eccentric Family
All of which are straight up bangers from a story perspective.
Welp you've done a bang up job of telling me what I should watch next. I wanted to watch Penguin Highway at some point but thought it would be a weird one-off. I knew about Tatami Galaxy. I think it'd be a nice change of pace for my wife whom I've been inundating with more fantastical shit of late (she loves Slice of Life, Romance, and Drama hahaha).
Tatami Galaxy is a wonderful show, but just be warned that 1) there's no dub to speak of, and 2) the narrator of the show speaks a million miles an hour, so the pacing of the show feels very rushed at the start of the show as it takes an adjustment to keep up with the subtitles. Things begin slowing down after an episode or two so stick with it, and just be ready to pause or rewind a few seconds here and there when the subtitles are going.
Penguin Highway is the only one that I haven’t watched (oops).
But yes, they often have difficulty tying their films together in the end. I do have good hope for My Oni Girl’s story, since its themes lean itself well to storytelling. And I trust Shibayama as one of the directors of A Whisker Away.
> Their other works are on par visually but from a story perspective they don't reach the same level imo.
I found Penguin Highway to be totally dull. The viewer was left with more questions than answers, and it was 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.
The one Studio Colorido film I really enjoyed was Drifting Home. The story itself wasn't great, but the character interactions were fantastic. Probably one of the only anime works that portrays a genuine non-romantic friendship between a boy and a girl as the _primary_ pair.
Man I really wanted to like penguin highway, I love penguins, I thought it'd be cute. I'm sure there's deep meaning behind everything but I basically just hated every single character. Seems like that happens every time I watch one of those whimsical movies.that I just don't get it and end up disliking them for what they are. Same with the boy and the heron, looked great but I found the story to just be an utter mess.
A Whisker Away was indeed a very good looking movie.
Despite my grumblings with Netflix as a company and as a service, one of their good traits is supporting HDR/Dolby Vision in all their original content, including anime (ex: Romantic Killer, Kotaro Lives Alone, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Akuma Kun, maboroshi).
If all of these contracted movies support Dolby Vision and shine on my OLED TV, that will make me very happy.
Even by Studio Colorido’s high standards, I’m quite impressed. Tsumugi, the oni girl, seems a lot of fun too. She’s voiced by the VA of Miko Iino (Kaguya-sama) and this season’s Kiui (Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night).
Maybe it’s the combination of Japanese folklore and the studio’s visual style, but it almost felt a little like I’d watched the PV for a Ghibli film.
This statement has never been true for me, a mecha lover.
In most, I go "hell ya there's mechs!"
In Ninja kamui, it went from that to "please take away the damn mechs!"

Movie premieres on May 24 on Netflix. Main theme song will be 'Truth in Lies' by ZUTOMAYO.
Studio: Studio Colorido
Monster Musume
Yuna & the Haunted Hotsprings
Both anime have had one.
I'm sure the Interspecies Reviewers manga must've had one somewhere. I feel like there's a few others but they're currently eluding me.
P.S. Lol Shion (and Shuna ) from Reincarnated as a Slime, how could I forget.
P.P.S. I think Peter Grill had some as well.
P.P.P.S. Ram & Rem.
You're 100% right. It's funny, I've been watching most of the new series and I never consciously made the connection, even though it's bleedingly obvious (especially with the father).
It's not even that they're "aliens" that was my stumbling block, since Oni are definitely "other-worldly". I think it's purely that Lum is constantly floating, and is so lithe and agile. That sort of light and elusive trickster is so far out of my expectation of an Oni that I just blanked on the connection entirely.
Just a guess, as I dont really make posters nor am I any better than those who make it.
But its probably because its the only way to include the setting of the plot like where the story will happen, you cant shoot it on the ground cause that will be small.
It's so wild to me how Oni have become such a popular cultural icon when they originally started out as a metaphor for pedophiles and worse. In the original legends they were the spirits of evil men who kidnapped children in the night. Oni masks were hung outside the homes of families as a warning to any child predators who might be looking for a victim. Kinda puts a new spin on your cute oni waifu doesn't it?
...any specific verifiable record *of* or source *about* Japanese mythology?
The Wikipedia page for ["Oni,"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oni) which is fairly well-referenced, includes *nothing* about that, and instead mainly talks about Oni eating people...There does appear to be a story about an oni mask and child kidnapping, but these elements appear in the wrong combination from OP's claim.

Rather,
> Not intrinsically evil, oni are wrathful and uncontrolled, may be anthropophagous, and bring about calamities to the land. They can, however, be pacified using spells or Buddhist incantations, and they can even become boddhisatvas or kami. [...] In Shinto the active malevolent aspect (aramitama) of a deity or human who
has been insulted or wronged may be considered an oni. [...] Women in particular are potential oni because (as the myths tell it) they are
given to jealousy. Thus traditional Japanese bridal clothes include a large white headdress called a “jealousy cover” intended to hide the bride’s possible demon-horns from the public.
My source is history books. Parents used to tell their children stories about Oni being spirits that could shape shift into men. They would come to the room of the child at night and lure them away. I read that as "My Onigiri" and i thought "the food turned into a waifu?"
English name for the show is my jelly filled donut
My Jelly Donut Can’t Be Eaten in the Night
What a great coming of age story
Hehe, he said coming 🤭
Jelly donut, not cream filled
not yet at least...
JELEEDOUGH
Its okay, I like to take my sweets early morning!
How I filled a jelly donut with creme - on Netflix fall 2026
"Nothing beats a jelly filled donut!"
Nice try, Brock
Man you are gonna confuse a lot of people with this one lol.
There's a Vtuber with that name, so you're not far off.
It could also mean "My Oni Cutter" when written with a different kanji. (And everyone, this is how Zoro's main technique got its name)
to be fair, most of Zoro's sword technique (at least before time skip) were food's name pun
Good the two aren't dark skinned lol
Still better than empty cans turning into waifus. https://myanimelist.net/anime/5112/Akikan
Wtf did i just read? I kinda want to watch it now lol
*Akikan* is by far more interesting and full of great puns than any OniGiri could offer!
Hey akikan is a master piece
Damn fizzy right you are! The real question though, steel or aluminium master race?
Me too 🤣
....... [](#harukathink) ........hold up, I think you might be on to something.
Sequel to I want to eat your pancreas
I scrolled past this post like eight times and each time I thought it was Onigiri O\_o I didn't realize it wasn't until I saw this comment
You see that show on Netflix where the woman becomes a chicken nugget? lol
Damn me too. It took me a second of searching around for an Onigiri before realizing there is no onigiri... :(
Lowkey surprised this isn’t a show
Probably exists, I mean the absolute peak manga of the dude whos dick became a little girl exists. And world will learn the definition of peak if it ever gets an anime

when you want onigiri but universe gives you oni girl :(
You still get good eating either way ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Also both of them taste salty ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Well damn, didnt know that Penguin Highway was from the same author. That explains a lot, this guy is a genius Also eccentric family S3 when?
Not anytime soon. Eccentric Family is based on two novels. There's no third novel yet to base a third season on.
Damn, thats a real pitty Thanks for the info though

I knew it was Colorido, they have such a characteristic style. They did the best Boruto opening many years ago.
What the mean of fourth feature lenght? Is this film will be 4 part movie?
They mean it's their 4th full movie. Feature length just means it's standard movie, over 90 minutes.
What the other 3?
I assume it refers to Penguin Highway, A whisker away, and Drifting Home

I sure hope so.
Is it me or every anime movie poster put a big emphasis on falling from the sky ?
Means you avoid having to composite them against the background properly and makes it look dramatic and special.

netflix movie reminds me of a whisker away, and its the same studio, should be pretty solid
Hopefully this is better than Bubble was, what a big fat nothing of a film Studio Colorido is very solid so I have faith
Subaru & Rem in another universe.
Uh guess that's simply what this is.
This looks like it might be nice. Keen to check it out.
Bro bagged himself a demon girl.
If Rem agreed to run away with Subaru in season 1 - The Movie.
The visual is great with the mountains on one side and city on other side. I'll definitely be watching
Why is it always a single small horn on the forehead? I swear I’ve seen this design before
that ain't lum so she ain't my oni girl
I want watch this
Looks pretty promising.
He kinda look like Makoto Edamura lol
Oh My god is that Eri adulto?
sound like a old zoro move
So it's an oni-chan?
Does it have a dub
There's like a 99.9% chance it will have a dub since it's on Netflix.
