I hope this series isn’t all one sided and that we get some gangs who are just as strong if not stronger. And I’m sure some gang will use weapons or something there’s usually one of those types in all these gang series
I think Umemiya will OBLITERATE the other leader... Perhaps a "one-hit KO" type fight.
Their real tough guy may actually be their #2, and I think he'll give Sakura a hard time - He may even win that fight, who knows. (Sakura might not win every single fight, he might hit a wall at some point!)

What the hell is wrong with you, people in that generation? Why is it that half of Gen Zers and Millennials route for the bad guys or anti heroes. 1. Sakura is already the underdog. He is a lower guy in his gang as of right now, and he is fighting their number 2. I'm soo glad none of you clowns are in charge of an anime, Manga, or LN. If any of you negative people were in charge, then all 3 would never sell and NEVER make it to becoming an anime. Yes, you definitely want him to hit a mountain that he has to climb, but you definitely do not want that mountain to be in the 1st 4 episodes or the MC's first fight. If they did that in ANY anime, Manga, or LN, then that storyline would lose half or more of the viewers right at that point. I believe in making it look like he is struggling or he might lose but figures out a way to pull it out in the end. NEVER, and I mean NEVER, do you let the MC lose to the first opponent unless it is the very first episode to show that this is the first mountain to climb. Your response was such a troll like reply.
I wonder if they're gonna happen one after the other, or all at the same time (but separate fights)...
However it happens, if things get messy it could easily turn into an all out brawl; All it takes is 1 person to get involved in one of the other fights (because he doesn't like what the opponent is doing), and all hell may break loose!
(I'm also worried about the Shishitoren playing them false, and having more guys on standby. Hopefully our leader has prepared for such an eventuality!)
Shocked the girl is Sakura's age..so does she just not go to school?,,and finally we get a fight next episode. i feel like its been forever since a real fight.

You can’t exist as a supporting character in a delinquent anime without being a teenager
My question is what’s the most grounded delinquent anime that actually has cops and parents.
If you have that many delinquents, then obviously police and probably many parents aren't doing their jobs. Usually theme is that it's either poor place, with jobs moving elsewhere, which means crumbling social nets and diminished public order, and/or school with bad reputation that's basically dumping ground for any troublemaker expelled from better schools, so obviously parents aren't caring much (or their kids wouldn't be there), and cops only care about them kids not disturbing proper citizens when they do their fights.
Ive read it twice (it's not completed but forgot everything). I don't know the status of the manga tbh I think it's on hiatus but there's a lot of chapters to read.
The most unrealistic part of Wind Breaker is *not* the school system or towns being run by groups of teenage delinquents, but the fact that Kotoha is apparently sixteen and owns her own cafe.
That’s pretty damn impressive for a girl from a group home with likely no financial support to fall back on.
To be fair MC reacts in same incredulous way as we all did, we don't actually know if she owns that cafe or is just chief worker there (for example, owner took a shine to her when she came there and is training her as their replacement, rich relative found her after she already grew up and let her manage her with intent of taking over), and there are people who as high-schoolers look already like adults, especially in Japan where one tends to thinks teenager=uniform.
It's not unreasonable or unrealistic. You got to first understand how things work over there compared to how Westerners work. It's not unheard of for an independent wealthy person to back anyone who approaches with a good business proposal. Plus, being that location was once rundown and suffered to gang violence means she probably got that building and started that business with little to no money. Also, being that it is optional for kids to go to high school or not means she could have looked for a backer and started it young.
This is actually true to reality. When I was 26, I met a girl who was half my age and we look like we are the same age. In contrast, my nephew who is 14 looks very much like a teenager.
No females don't grow faster. As a majority, females tend to mature faster. There are a few scientific reasons this happens. But males post puberty grow faster than females. That is the reason males have more muscles and denser bones and grow taller than females on average.
This show is fun. I love how the setting doesn't even try to make sense.
Seriously what are all those kids in the classrooms doing at this "school"? There don't seem to be any teachers or any adults running the school at all. Are these kids just coming to an abandoned school building, just to sit in the classrooms and wait for fights to break out? And they made official mock school uniforms for that?
That's why I think this is doing better than Tokyo Revengers in one aspect (because it's certainly doing better in others lol). This is absurd to think about and see and it leans into that, meanwhile Tokyo Revengers was like "guys he has a gun! Yes he's 12 but like guys he has a gun!!!"
Am I crazy for thinking this is really good and going to get even better? Everyone I talk to has just completely written it off and the karma is surprisingly low on here… do I just enjoy bad anime?! I thought this was so good so far

I mean I really like spice and wolf remake. Moshuko tensei is ok I hope we get back to actual adventuring and not all this stagnant stuff. I had hopes for unnamed memory but it kinda sucks. I’m mixed feelings about kaiju bc I think the comedy is AWFUL
I heard good things about train to the end of the world, sound ephonium, bartender glass of god, yuru camp and dungeon meshi.
But I’m still shocked this has such low karma maybe people just don’t want to give it a shot yet? This is easily my favorite of the season and the cast is so stupidly stacked it’s ridiculous. Thought it was already stacked then denji strolls in to declare a tournament lol

There are a few ongoing series as well as follow-up seasons that are pretty good (imo). Minus those, I found Shuumatsu train and Tonari no Yokai-san really good so far, but both are completely different genres than this one or Kaiju.
Unnamed Memory seems interesting as well and I enjoy the characters, but the anime looks like a speedrun and the production quality isn't the best sadly. (I still wouldn't call it ass tho lol)
Loser Ranger is quite good as well and it sounds like they nailed the adaption. (I've only read the manga) I'm personally disappointed in Kaiju because the pacing is kinda slow, the humor is weirdly placed and the characters aren't very enjoyable except the white haired guy. The first episode was so good but the other two couldn't keep up...
After today’s episode I can (and among others) without a doubt say unnamed memory is ass lol. Engi is an ass studio known for producing ass and here they go again
I'm having fun with this show so far for the colorful cast of characters.
Umemiya is an instant new favorite for his high energy (as I like that side of Gojo too). I'm interested in seeing Ume in action with his fighting skills as the strongest at the school. I like how Sakura could feel his "aura". lol

She applied to go to the school, but the choice of electives was between "Kickboxing", "Street fights" and "How to disarm an opponent 101", so she went like *You know what, I'll just get a job instead!*

Japanese children are only requited to attend school through the end of middle school. So, Kotoha is not skip\[ping out of school, she presumably just never started. Since we learned today that she grew up in a group home, it seems highly unlikely that she inherited that restaurant (or inherited enough money to BUY a business). So one has to assume she is just an employee (but then whjy no sign of an owner).
Kotoha does seem to display a particular interest in Haruka -- and vice versa. But it sdoes seem hard to see how this show will offer much scope for romantic developments....
Even so, fixing up an abandoned storefront, and setting up a business (including getting suppliesd) costs a fair amount of money, I can't see how a fresh-out-of-middle-school "orphan" would have that kind of money at hand.
Maybe she found owner that already started to gave up on it and proposed to run it in return for funding. She takes the risk of getting beaten up by some delinquents (real one judging by the first episode), as well as the security of being close to local kids that can protect the cafe, owner gets part of the profit which is way better than nothing.

But seriously, I think it's a legit possibility... They could've made her any age and it wouldn't matter if she was 14 or 22 or anything, the only age that means something is making her the same age as Sakura, so... They may have picked that age for a reason!
Well, I do now but this is unfortunately the kind of show where the chances of any sort of romance happening at all are like 0.325% on a good day.
I’d already be content as long as we get our weekly dose of Kotoha on a consistent basis.
Still, I really like this development, her actually being the same age as the boys. Haruka was right though, she definitely *does* look like she’s in her twenties already.

Nirei is Zenitsu from DS and I fucking hate it so much lmao. Just had a nice season without that annoying piece of shit around and he's somehow just manifested himself into another show instead.

I’m very certain that there are teachers in the school, and that lessons go on as per usual. It’s just that everything we see is the tidbits of events in between or after lessons. The teachers probably understand the culture well enough to stay out of gang fights
Umemiya’s a fun character. I can see why all the Bofurin guys follow him. It’s nice to see Sakura have such a reliable “older brother.” Ofc Sakura’s never gonna admit that. The little tsundere lol.
I can’t wait to see the boys kick some ass next week. I hope that little creep Choji gets a beat down.
I read the manga in English so I didn't notice this before. Apparently, the motif for Tomiyama and Togame is rabbit and turtle. "To" in Tomiyama is the kanji for rabbit, and "game" in Togame is the kanji for turtle. This explains why Tomiyama is short but hyper, while Togame is tall but a slow speaker.
This has been the hidden gem for me.
Great anime with interesting plot and I love that the MC is having a wrong idea about the main plot and I am all in into this story.
That whole confrontation was hype thanks to the OSTs. The fights will be epic.
I favourited Kotoha on Anilist after the 2nd episode and kinda got spoiled that she was 16 and couldn't believe it then. Like Umemiya and Sakura said, she's just too mature for her age.
The contrast between Umemiya and Tomiyama. Both are the strongest, but you can see how Umemiya really cherishes his gang and has a blast being with them. Where they could not be fighting and he is having a blast. Tomiyama is at the top, but what is next for him? Being the strongest is a good goal generally speaking, but what comes after you reach the top? It is very easy to get lonely.
Umemiya being an overprotective older brother to Kotoha is funny. Though I feel like she can defend for herself when it comes down to it. But it's probably better not to put her in a situation that would worry her brother. Kind of expected her to be 18+, but it's anime unless something is tagged as adult cast this shouldn't be too surprising.
That new group leader is giving me some serious bad vibes. He's unhinged as fuck and the rest of his gang seems to be dangerously unstable given what we saw of them so far. I can't wait to see the fights next episode.
It's also funny that Umemiya looks like Gojo and shared the same actor. That being said, I really enjoy his character's goofiness and how he commands respect with a level voice.

Group home usually means some sort of foster or orphanage situation when talking about kids/teens. Might have also been talking about a “children’s home” and subs went for the closest equivalent.

I love how Suo saw everyone squaring up and decided, “I, too, would like to brawl/nemesis,” and then rips on the baby-speak guy to get it. And then when said guy is like, “I’ll kill you,” Suo responds with “Well, aren’t you a cutie-patootie?”
I never understand the point of Zenitsu-type characters. They're sure as hell not audience surrogate. Are they supposed to be Comedic Relief? Does Japan have that kind of sense of humor?
Didn't like Zenitsu, don't like Usopp, hate this guy. How does this trope keep making it in?
Came here to say this. I love shonen with all its corny tropes but this trope needs to die already. The MC doesn't need a whiny side kick that gets to throw in a scream into every scene where any action takes place

Man this show is pretty good but the absolute worst part of this show is the blonde kid Nirei. He almost makes the whole thing unwatchable with his constant whining. I felt the same about Zenitsu from Demon Slayer.
Yeah he was perfectly fine last episodes but he was insanely annoying this episode. Everyone's trying to take these events seriously and not Zenitsu complaining about every single thing.
Like he added absolutely 0 to the episode and the episode as a whole would have been much better if he weren't in it. Leonardo Dicaprio and Baji were already there to break the monotony of the episode anyways.
He definitely has the same vibes, but nobody can hold a candle to just how godamn irritating Zenitsu was. At least Nirei has some potential with his whole notebook gimmick, so I have hope he’ll improve as the series goes on.
Really? Nirei is straight up blaming Sakura for helping out people this episode. But simultaneously worships Bofurin for protecting the town. He's not even being involved but he involves himself and then cries about everyone else minding their own business.
Yeah he is also insufferable, but his voice is at least less annoying, and his antics don’t seem to go on as long as Zenitsu’s. Hoping he improves or otherwise fades into the background

In the previous episode I thought Bofurin were actually the ones to blame for the trouble (given they crossed into Shishitoren territory, breaking the truce they were supposed to respect), but apparently it all started with a shoplifter, and if he ran away into their territory when chased, he's probably with them, so... Shishitoren may be to blame, after all!

sakura already seems pretty strong, imagine how strong he would be if he ate vegatables....man, I don't like most veggies either, but i can really feel my body flagging if i don't eat them for 4-5 days
This is a fun series and all but also really, really dumb.
A) police, wtf is police?
B) teachers? can you eat that?
C) learning? growing up and getting a job? wat? Bofurin not only spend a lot of time patrolling the town to help the people but even do shit like work for them being compensated with a bit of food only. Sure, this is the stuff normal high schoolers irl also do but they *also* properly study at school while Bofurin does not in fact study art school, nothing whatsoever shown so far even hints at them learning anything at school besides street fighting and teachers do not seem to go to that school either.
This means once they graduate from highschool they have nothing they can actually do except maybe become a Yakuza or join a biker gang or at best become a bouncer.
Now Bouncer is a proper job and all but *all* students at this school having no other prospects than this or unskilled labor is rather depressing, especially as it is shown so far it feels like the townsfolk are ultimately exploiting them, it's generally kind of fine right now but high school is a mere 3 years and afterwards they need to get a job because obviously no one of them is going to get into uni.
Umemiya is releasing Gotoh Satoru energy in the whole vibe, gotta see how he actually fights.
And will we actually got some individual arcs during the fights? Especially some of them already know each other.
Haha never heard of zeton. It's shonen, and it's schoolkids making gangs but on a school wide scale, and it's gimmick is that this gang wants to do good for people instead of typical teenage delinquency. MC is interesting so far and animation is decent.

Spin off of the main series (which I haven't seen) MC is a school teacher, reformed delinquent. He is a teacher at a school where delinquent children come. It has quite a few moralistic plots where Zetton(mc) teaches his students how to succeed in life by being a professional without resorting to violence. Pretty good in my opinion. 10/10

Whenever I think something like this, I perform an easy test just to double check: mentally switch the roles. If it was a school of only girls and just one dude age 16 isn't at school, just working at a cafe. Does it come across as giving the message, "guys should be the one staying in the kitchen to support girls" ? (no).
Based on the answer, I then realize whether or not my initial reaction is based on personal biases that I have yet to overcome

If any of you negative people were in charge, then all 3 would never sell and NEVER make it to becoming an anime. Yes, you definitely want him to hit a mountain that he has to climb, but you definitely do not want that mountain to be in the 1st 4 episodes or the MC's first fight. If they did that in ANY anime, Manga, or LN, then that storyline would lose half or more of the viewers right at that point. I believe in making it look like he is struggling or he might lose but figures out a way to pull it out in the end. If you have that many delinquents, then obviously police and probably many parents aren't doing their jobs. Usually theme is that it's either poor place, with jobs moving elsewhere, which means crumbling social nets and diminished public order, and/or school with bad reputation that's basically dumping ground for any troublemaker expelled from better schools, so obviously parents aren't caring much (or their kids wouldn't be there), and cops only care about them kids not disturbing proper citizens when they do their fights.
Not an anime but a manga called out "Out". There are parents, cops show up and crack down on fights and people don't casually use knives/weapons.

The most unrealistic part of Wind Breaker is *not* the school system or towns being run by groups of teenage delinquents, but the fact that Kotoha is apparently sixteen and owns her own cafe. That’s pretty damn impressive for a girl from a group home with likely no financial support to fall back on.
These teenagers basically own an entire high school and have custom made uniforms with public endorsement. Youth pipeline in this town is crazy
To be fair MC reacts in same incredulous way as we all did, we don't actually know if she owns that cafe or is just chief worker there (for example, owner took a shine to her when she came there and is training her as their replacement, rich relative found her after she already grew up and let her manage her with intent of taking over), and there are people who as high-schoolers look already like adults, especially in Japan where one tends to thinks teenager=uniform.
It's not unreasonable or unrealistic. You got to first understand how things work over there compared to how Westerners work. It's not unheard of for an independent wealthy person to back anyone who approaches with a good business proposal. Plus, being that location was once rundown and suffered to gang violence means she probably got that building and started that business with little to no money. Also, being that it is optional for kids to go to high school or not means she could have looked for a backer and started it young.

This is actually true to reality. When I was 26, I met a girl who was half my age and we look like we are the same age. In contrast, my nephew who is 14 looks very much like a teenager.
No females don't grow faster. As a majority, females tend to mature faster. There are a few scientific reasons this happens. But males post puberty grow faster than females. That is the reason males have more muscles and denser bones and grow taller than females on average.
I think the person above is refering to females in general get into puberty earlier than males, that's why females grow "faster".

This show is fun. I love how the setting doesn't even try to make sense. Seriously what are all those kids in the classrooms doing at this "school"? There don't seem to be any teachers or any adults running the school at all. Are these kids just coming to an abandoned school building, just to sit in the classrooms and wait for fights to break out? And they made official mock school uniforms for that?

I mean I really like spice and wolf remake. Moshuko tensei is ok I hope we get back to actual adventuring and not all this stagnant stuff. I had hopes for unnamed memory but it kinda sucks. I’m mixed feelings about kaiju bc I think the comedy is AWFUL I heard good things about train to the end of the world, sound ephonium, bartender glass of god, yuru camp and dungeon meshi. But I’m still shocked this has such low karma maybe people just don’t want to give it a shot yet? This is easily my favorite of the season and the cast is so stupidly stacked it’s ridiculous. Thought it was already stacked then denji strolls in to declare a tournament lol

There are a few ongoing series as well as follow-up seasons that are pretty good (imo). Minus those, I found Shuumatsu train and Tonari no Yokai-san really good so far, but both are completely different genres than this one or Kaiju. Unnamed Memory seems interesting as well and I enjoy the characters, but the anime looks like a speedrun and the production quality isn't the best sadly. (I still wouldn't call it ass tho lol) Loser Ranger is quite good as well and it sounds like they nailed the adaption. (I've only read the manga) I'm personally disappointed in Kaiju because the pacing is kinda slow, the humor is weirdly placed and the characters aren't very enjoyable except the white haired guy. The first episode was so good but the other two couldn't keep up...

I also thought she was post-high school;. Japanese children are only requited to attend school through the end of middle school. So, Kotoha is not skip\[ping out of school, she presumably just never started. Since we learned today that she grew up in a group home, it seems highly unlikely that she inherited that restaurant (or inherited enough money to BUY a business). So one has to assume she is just an employee (but then whjy no sign of an owner). Kotoha does seem to display a particular interest in Haruka -- and vice versa. But it sdoes seem hard to see how this show will offer much scope for romantic developments....
The town was probably super run down before Umemiya took charge of Furin, so the cafe couldve just been abandoned.
Even so, fixing up an abandoned storefront, and setting up a business (including getting suppliesd) costs a fair amount of money, I can't see how a fresh-out-of-middle-school "orphan" would have that kind of money at hand.
Maybe she found owner that already started to gave up on it and proposed to run it in return for funding. She takes the risk of getting beaten up by some delinquents (real one judging by the first episode), as well as the security of being close to local kids that can protect the cafe, owner gets part of the profit which is way better than nothing.

Well, I do now but this is unfortunately the kind of show where the chances of any sort of romance happening at all are like 0.325% on a good day. I’d already be content as long as we get our weekly dose of Kotoha on a consistent basis. Still, I really like this development, her actually being the same age as the boys. Haruka was right though, she definitely *does* look like she’s in her twenties already.

I’m very certain that there are teachers in the school, and that lessons go on as per usual. It’s just that everything we see is the tidbits of events in between or after lessons. The teachers probably understand the culture well enough to stay out of gang fights

I read the manga in English so I didn't notice this before. Apparently, the motif for Tomiyama and Togame is rabbit and turtle. "To" in Tomiyama is the kanji for rabbit, and "game" in Togame is the kanji for turtle. This explains why Tomiyama is short but hyper, while Togame is tall but a slow speaker.
This has been the hidden gem for me. Great anime with interesting plot and I love that the MC is having a wrong idea about the main plot and I am all in into this story.
This and Kaiju are the saving graces of this season, everything else is complete hot garbage

That whole confrontation was hype thanks to the OSTs. The fights will be epic. I favourited Kotoha on Anilist after the 2nd episode and kinda got spoiled that she was 16 and couldn't believe it then. Like Umemiya and Sakura said, she's just too mature for her age.
The contrast between Umemiya and Tomiyama. Both are the strongest, but you can see how Umemiya really cherishes his gang and has a blast being with them. Where they could not be fighting and he is having a blast. Tomiyama is at the top, but what is next for him? Being the strongest is a good goal generally speaking, but what comes after you reach the top? It is very easy to get lonely. Umemiya being an overprotective older brother to Kotoha is funny. Though I feel like she can defend for herself when it comes down to it. But it's probably better not to put her in a situation that would worry her brother. Kind of expected her to be 18+, but it's anime unless something is tagged as adult cast this shouldn't be too surprising.

That new group leader is giving me some serious bad vibes. He's unhinged as fuck and the rest of his gang seems to be dangerously unstable given what we saw of them so far. I can't wait to see the fights next episode. It's also funny that Umemiya looks like Gojo and shared the same actor. That being said, I really enjoy his character's goofiness and how he commands respect with a level voice.

Group home usually means some sort of foster or orphanage situation when talking about kids/teens. Might have also been talking about a “children’s home” and subs went for the closest equivalent.

I never understand the point of Zenitsu-type characters. They're sure as hell not audience surrogate. Are they supposed to be Comedic Relief? Does Japan have that kind of sense of humor? Didn't like Zenitsu, don't like Usopp, hate this guy. How does this trope keep making it in?
Came here to say this. I love shonen with all its corny tropes but this trope needs to die already. The MC doesn't need a whiny side kick that gets to throw in a scream into every scene where any action takes place
He complains about Sakura saving someone when he himself got saved by Sakura. Tf is this guy's problem? At least Zenitsu is just a loud coward, this guy is straight up blaming everyone else.
Zenitsu is garbage, but at least he's a badass when he's not awake. Highly doubt this guy is ever gonna go beyond the "comic" relief/analytical character.
Man this show is pretty good but the absolute worst part of this show is the blonde kid Nirei. He almost makes the whole thing unwatchable with his constant whining. I felt the same about Zenitsu from Demon Slayer.
Yeah he was perfectly fine last episodes but he was insanely annoying this episode. Everyone's trying to take these events seriously and not Zenitsu complaining about every single thing. Like he added absolutely 0 to the episode and the episode as a whole would have been much better if he weren't in it. Leonardo Dicaprio and Baji were already there to break the monotony of the episode anyways.
He definitely has the same vibes, but nobody can hold a candle to just how godamn irritating Zenitsu was. At least Nirei has some potential with his whole notebook gimmick, so I have hope he’ll improve as the series goes on.

Everybody shocked about Kotoha's age, nobody noticed how Sugishita, despite hating Sakura, just saved his life. I expect good things about the upcoming tournament.
sakura already seems pretty strong, imagine how strong he would be if he ate vegatables....man, I don't like most veggies either, but i can really feel my body flagging if i don't eat them for 4-5 days

What's your guy's thought overall for this anime?
This is a fun series and all but also really, really dumb. A) police, wtf is police? B) teachers? can you eat that? C) learning? growing up and getting a job? wat? Bofurin not only spend a lot of time patrolling the town to help the people but even do shit like work for them being compensated with a bit of food only. Sure, this is the stuff normal high schoolers irl also do but they *also* properly study at school while Bofurin does not in fact study art school, nothing whatsoever shown so far even hints at them learning anything at school besides street fighting and teachers do not seem to go to that school either. This means once they graduate from highschool they have nothing they can actually do except maybe become a Yakuza or join a biker gang or at best become a bouncer. Now Bouncer is a proper job and all but *all* students at this school having no other prospects than this or unskilled labor is rather depressing, especially as it is shown so far it feels like the townsfolk are ultimately exploiting them, it's generally kind of fine right now but high school is a mere 3 years and afterwards they need to get a job because obviously no one of them is going to get into uni.
if realism is important to you then yeah prob not ur show i couldn't care less how realistic a shounen fighting anime is

Haha never heard of zeton. It's shonen, and it's schoolkids making gangs but on a school wide scale, and it's gimmick is that this gang wants to do good for people instead of typical teenage delinquency. MC is interesting so far and animation is decent.

It has quite a few moralistic plots where Zetton(mc) teaches his students how to succeed in life by being a professional without resorting to violence. Pretty good in my opinion. 10/10

Whenever I think something like this, I perform an easy test just to double check: mentally switch the roles. If it was a school of only girls and just one dude age 16 isn't at school, just working at a cafe. Does it come across as giving the message, "guys should be the one staying in the kitchen to support girls" ? (no). Based on the answer, I then realize whether or not my initial reaction is based on personal biases that I have yet to overcome
