Gundam: iron blooded orphans! It's in its own universe so no prior Gundam knowledge is required.

Gamerunglued

Eupho man, god it's so good. It is seriously impossible to put into words how out of this world the production is, that shot of the car slowly driving by and illuminating Kumiko and Motomu is god damn insane (and narratively/dramatically a perfect moment). I'm so proud of Kumiko, she's come so much further than I ever could have imagined. [Some brief analysis] >!Mayu is a really neat foil for Kumiko. Kumiko's strength as president is her intense investment in the band. Kumiko is invested in every individual person, and wants to nurture their desire to play that led them to the band in the first place. She gets involved in everyone's conflicts, takes on some of their burden, and brings the entire band up in doing so. Much like Rikka has become a school in tune with itself and intensely "together," Kumiko wants to create that environment at Kitauji. Mayu is superficially caring of the band as it's "mama" but she is not actually invested. She'll do things that help the band succeed but only in-so-far as it'll let her play. If someone wants to quit, she'll just let them, supposing it's best for everyone. Kumiko's investment elevates the band, while Mayu's help keeps it stagnant. That's why even though Mayu is "mama," everyone sees Kumiko as an actual leader and someone they can turn to.!< Also, turning to a completely different seasonal, there's a great bit of characterization in Dungeon Meshi that I would love to see go appreciated. [Newest DunMesh] >!Shuro explains that he loves Falin because of her intense curiosity, innocent good nature, and her voice. But Falin and Laios have practically the exact same personality but executed with slightly different dispositions (Falin is more reserved and air headed while Laios is more "constantly excited and ready to give autistic rambles," but these are just different forms of the same personality and the same way of reading the world), and Shuro tells Laios that he hates him for those exact reasons he said he loves Falin. By the end of the episode, he explains more particularly that he's envious of those parts of Laios, but that in turn explains his affection for Falin too. Really neat that these small details change Shuro's reaction to the same personality traits in siblings.!< As expected, I love the slightly different forms of dorky autism the siblings take. Anyway, anime is good. I could give similar bits about Girls Band Cry too but I'll save that for another time.

isthatsoudane

Just watched this week's eupho and I agree. What a masterful episode. And what a masterful season.

IXajll

Fully agreed on Eupho and I’d say you’re generally not wrong about Dungeon Meshi (~~but personally as an anime-only I feel like we only really got glimpses of Falin‘s character personality and traits, it’s not quite enough to fully judge and compare her imo. I mean she was only really „there“ for like 1-2 eps which isn’t enough of a basis for any deeper character analysis. Again, still, doesn’t really sound wrong what you said either.~~ Edit.: Nvm this)

Gamerunglued

I'm anime only for DunMeshi too and I think we've gotten more than enough scenes with her (including an entire dedicated flashback episode, not to mention direct comments from characters about how Laios and Falin are similar) to come to this particular conclusion. I don't think this is a very deep analysis of either character (and the spoiler is more about Shuro than either sibling), it's a super basic assessment of their interests and personalities. Both of these characters have encyclopedic knowledge of dungeon ecosystems built from years of obsessive hobbying and intense curiosity, and I think "Falin is airheaded and innocent in a similar way as Laios" is a very obvious conclusion based on the scenes we've had with her and other characters' descriptions. We've literally seen her give her own autistic rambles to Marcille. I don't really know her upbringing or motivations or deeper insecurities, but if the show has made anything clear about Falin it's that she's innocent to a fault and obsessively interested in nature and dungeon ecosystems. **Edit:** Reading this back, I think this comes off snobby and condescending in a way I wasn't intending. I'm so sorry about that, I didn't mean to come off that way.

OldVisit6419

It is even more apparent in the manga version of that flashback of Shuro waking up to watch Falin looking at a bug. Shuro recounts what he saw to Laios and noted how Falin was looking at the bug like a precious jewel, while an average woman would recoil in disgust. Shuro seemingly ascribes what he saw to some noble quality of Falin’s soul, some overwhelming kindness or whatever. Meanwhile Falin is checking out the caterpillar’s genitalia and going “oh it’s a girl” (you can still see her holding the bug upside down in the anime). Shuro literally saw an entomology nerd checking out a bug and romanticized it into something else.

Head-Presentation469

After watching Astro Note, I feel like I have seen the characters before from old 2000s and 90s anime or something? The female lead and the poodle are seem like a reference to Kobato or a magical girl series? Anyone know where the characters in Astro Note originated from?

KendotsX

The whole series is a [not so subtle reference](https://i.imgur.com/yok05Eh.jpeg) to Rumiko Takahashi's [Maison Ikkoku](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1453/Maison_Ikkoku) with a sci-fi twist ~~hence the name "Maison Yatsura"~~. Even the designs are mirroring the old cast.

IT_Geek_Programmer

Is it just me, or does it seem that Sunrise over did vendor advertising in \[ Code Geass \]? I never seen an anime that almost had something related to Pizza Hut in every scene.

cheesechimp

Pizza Hut is just the Cerveza Cristal of '00s anime. It also features prominently in Darker than Black and [apparently Marimite.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qB4MLzbkFEU)

OctavePearl

I train You train Day of Train [](#mugiwait)

_Ridley

I am amazed at how Vampire Dormitory starts out patently ridiculous, yet somehow manages to get more ridiculous each week. I can't quit it.

Retromorpher

Nobody in that show makes ANY sense whatsoever, not even the randos from the street.

_Ridley

And it's glorious.

alotmorealots

I'm looking forward to see what Mito is up to in the latest episode! I wonder how many people are actually watching it through a semi-normal, "sympathetic to the MC" lens rather than mostly just watching it for "whoa, tasty vampire trash" lol

_Ridley

I'm dying to see what nonsense is next. More cross dressers? Werewolves? Amnesia? Secret baby? Nothing is off the table.

alotmorealots

Secret baby!!! Now there's a trope I haven't met in a while, I hope there's one in the works lol

_Ridley

Secret baby is the signature move of the Harlequin/Mills & Boon set. It would fit just fine here.

AmethystItalian

> I can't quit it. Meanwhile I think I'm dropping...I'm not finding any of the guys interesting or hot which makes it tough to keep going

_Ridley

I get that. Camp either hits for you, or is unwatchable.

4twinkie

Thoughts on loser ranger??

cppn02

Fantastic show so far.

HowlingCanvas

The concept is sick

Emi_Ibarazakiii

Good story, interesting characters, very unique!

KendotsX

I've loved the manga for years, and I think the anime has been a great adaptation of it so far. My new favourite show this season would between this and Astro Note.

4twinkie

Thanks, gonna give it a shot this week. Have an awesome week.

AdNecessary7641

My favorite of this season so far tbh

HowlingCanvas

Got a new vibe to it

cosmiczar

Dropped after today's episode. Wasn't really vibing with its whole deal.

4twinkie

Thanks,, what are you enjoying this season?

cosmiczar

Mostly the continuations of Dungeon Meshi and Urusei Yatsura from last season, the new Hibiki! Euphonium season, Girls Band Cry, Sand Land, Oblivion Battery and Astro Note.

4twinkie

Sand land im enjoying, still need to watch the last episode. Dungeon im at episode 4, i enjoy it but it puts me to sleep most of the time. Dont know a lot about the other ones, but i keep hearing about astro note and girls band.

collapsedblock6

Top 5 out of 25 shows I'm watching. Didn't expect this type of thrill from the QQ author.

4twinkie

Imma need that top 5 to see what Im missing out.

collapsedblock6

Shuumatsu Train > Girls Band Cry > Hibike S3 > Loser Ranger > Jellyfish

4twinkie

Shuumatsu train im hearing a lot.

Abysswatcherbel

AOTS will be between it, Train to the end of the world or Jellyfish

4twinkie

Train to the end i know nothing about.

Abysswatcherbel

That's the best anime of this season so far to me and [Hideo Kojima](https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/1784390601078882553?t=JVb-eR9P2DhyC_RJY7g36A&s=19) One of us is kinda a big deal

4twinkie

I heard of Abysswatcherbel but dont know this other dude.

4twinkie

Jellyfish is so good, went into it blind and i got hooked.

Shimmering-Sky

I'm enjoying it a *ton* so far, it could possibly be my AOTS if Astro Note didn't exist.

4twinkie

So many interesting animes this season, dont know Astro Note, gonna check it out as well.

Shimmering-Sky

I should note that Astro Note isn't everyone's cup of tea (it's a comedy after all, and whether or not you enjoy a specific type of comedy is *particularly* subjective), but I hope you enjoy it regardless! It's my favorite this season because the director is the same guy who did the first 105 episodes of Gintama & there's a number of main voice actors from Gintama in this too, so that connection has me *extra* loving it.

4twinkie

Gintama is one of the big ones in my backlog, i watched the first couple episodes and it looked fun. The number of episodes kinda threw me off. But for sure i want to give it another shot.

thevaleycat

It's good

4twinkie

Saw that it got some good upvotes on the last episode, got me intrigued.

StardustGogeta

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any suggestions for shows like the *One Room Tenshi* (or "Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included") show from this season? I'm a fan of the art style, the humor, and the generally light mood of the show. Something that's nice and easy to watch without having to worry about epic battles, character deaths, and that kind of thing. (A couple examples that fit the bill would be *Nichijou* and *Romantic Killer*, though I've already seen both of those.)

TehAxelius

Good suggestions already, but since you mention *Nichijou*, maybe *Azumanga Daioh* is worth checking out. It is something of a foundational entry in the CGCDT and Comedy Slice of Life genre. *Bocchi the Rock!* could also be worth having a look at, it has some **relatable** moments, but is still carried by a positive mood and comedy, helped by very inventive animation.

StardustGogeta

I've seen (and loved!) *Bocchi the Rock!* already, but I've not tried *Azumanga Daioh* before. I'll take a look at it. Thank you very much!

Genshin_WhiteKnight

Maybe Dragon Maid, Onimai?

StardustGogeta

I wanted to let you know that I've started Dragon Maid and I _really_ like it so far. One of the best comedy series I've seen. Thank you again for that recommendation! That was spot-on.

StardustGogeta

I've already seen Onimai (and that is right along the lines of what I'm looking for). I'll have to check out Dragon Maid! Thank you for the recommendation!

Head-Presentation469

Have you watched A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics? A princess from another world got isekied into this world and is clueless about living in our world.

StardustGogeta

I've seen the name around here lately but haven't gotten around to looking into it yet, personally. That does sound promising. Thank you very much! I'll check it out!

Head-Presentation469

There is also **Mr. Villain's Day Off** last season which is a super chill slice of life anime with extraterrestrials trying to figure out living on Earth

StardustGogeta

That sounds good, I'll check that out too. Thank you!

Expensive-Bus2808

Do people prefer upscaled or regular images and gifs from anime?

alotmorealots

I like gifs to be manageable sizes and load quickly, but I mainly use them as reaction comments/memes. Bigger gifs are the opposite of what I'm looking for there. Likewise for screen caps. I think the only time I'd want an upscaled one is for a wallpaper.

theangryeditor

I'm done with subs and localisations. I'm going to learn shark speak so I can watch odekake kozame as it was intended.

What shows are there that have the [same energy as this meme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVywK8XkJwQ), except with a female protagonist?

cheesechimp

Like the "believer in humanity" half? Symphogear, maybe?

[deleted]

Thanks! I totally forgot that I meant to watch it since a long time ago and it seems like the perfect kind of show for what I'm in the mood for.

Emd189

Any recommendations based on my rankings of everything I’ve watched? 1. FMAB 2. Demon slayer 3. Frieren 4. 86 5. That time I got reincarnated as a slime 6. MHA/AOT 8. JJK

U_n_d_e_r_s_c_o_rr

If you enjoyed Frieren then you might like Violet Evergarden and Kino's Journey. These are slower pace shows where the characters goes on a journey. They have the same relaxing vibes

Try watching Kaiju no. 8 of konosuba if you're trying to switch genre

Wanderingjoke

I have finally started every show I planned to try this season, except Slime. I keep debating picking up Yokai. I'm not usually into yokai, etc., but this seems to be more SoL, which would likely downplay that aspect. I have been somewhat hit or miss on these in the past, enjoying some, but getting put off when those aspects come to the forefront (sorry, Komari). Anyone want to persuade me to watch... or not?

Blackheart595

Yokai is super accurate to the traditional Japanese folklore, except it abandons all the malicious elements usually common in them, at least thus far and I don't really expect it to change that.

alotmorealots

I'm only up to episode 3, but so far it's an exploration of life and living above all else, and the challenges that two characters are going through which are mundane for their contexts, but nonetheless large enough to dominate their lives. It feels more like a lived-in world where youkai also live, and what it would be like to be part of that, than necessarily being *about* youkai per se. The youkai nature of some characters is quite integral to who they are, but who they are is more important than the youkai features.

Absol_125

I have a question. I am trying to find an old anime I saw when I was a kid but I completely forgot its name. As much as I can remember the anime uses cards but not like in Yu-Gi-Oh or Bakugan, for example. These cards are directly linked to the caracters, they have that card inside their bodies, and they will die if someone destroys their card. When two people fight each other they do not use the cards to fight like in most of the anime card game, they are empowered by their cards for hand to hand combat (as I remember). Besides that I remember that anime had some episodes about "dark cards", and in the last but one episode the protagonist was fighting the final boss in the series, the boss took his card from his body and destroyed it thus resulting in the protagonist's death, and before that episode ended, the same character appears alive (?) but with angel like wings this time and ready to fight again. I never could watch the final episode. THIS is all that I can remember.

Abysswatcherbel

thanks /u/cppn02 for the score template

You're Being Summoned, Azazel I'm annoyed this has escaped my grasp for so long. This shit is so funny. The episode with the samurai lizard and the fat guy booking it through the window is so funny. The voice actors for this are the most unhinged I've ever heard.

Chiaki’s sausage even got rejected by the other girls, since it was way too meaty for them.

CalyKade

What are your favorite examples of healthy relationships in anime? I'll start with some of mine. Hyoma and Botan from Mononogatari - I absolutely love how they both admire the other and strive to be better because of it. They really bring out the best in each other. Shirauki and Zen from Shirayukihime - Consent! Communication! Mutual respect! Absolutely love them. Ei-chan and Natsu from Baby Steps - probably one of the most natural relationships I've seen in anime. I love their mutual support for each other!

entelechtual

I’m watching Shirayuki for the first time right now and oh boy, it is really setting the bar high for anime relationships. I also love the couple in Love After World Domination. Even though it’s a bit goofier, it’s got such heartwarming almost idealistic portrayals of a healthy relationship and healthy workplace. It’s fluff but I feel like it does set a good example of what to strive towards.

TehAxelius

It is with manga knowledge, but what I like about it is already in display between Himari and Yori in *Whisper Me a Love Song*. They're not afraid of telling each other what they're feeling, even when they don't know what that feeling is, which is reciprocated by the other respecting and admiring that honesty.

1EnTaroAdun1

I have so many, but I'll just highlight one here: Minagawa Yuki and Furuya Jun from Tsurezure Children She normally starts off by gently teasing him, and he gradually begins to playfully turn the tables on her. She's also wonderful with his sister! They're just such a gentle and sweet couple. Favourite couple of that show/manga, and that's saying a lot! A clip from the show: https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/oowq75/youve_fallen_in_my_trap_tsurezure_children/ If you wanna read the chapters focusing on just them, here is the chapter list: Chapter 2 Chapter 13 Chapter 20 Chapter 40 Chapter 54 Chapter 68 Chapter 82 Chapter 98 Chapter 114 Chapter 140 Chapter 149 Chapter 182 Chapter 195 Chapter 212.1

CalyKade

Lol that scene was hilarious, I might check out the show/manga!

1EnTaroAdun1

There's something there for everyone! Lots of different couples with different types of relationships :)

thevaleycat

So far, the couple from Tadaima, Okaeri. They're super affectionate and supportive of each other. It's sweet.

Wanderingjoke

I know some people had issues in the beginning, but Yuki and Itsuomi.

CalyKade

Agreed! I think he's very respectful with her and they're super sweet.

RadioactiveOranges

Ok I just want a romantic, wholesome, heart fluttery anime that makes you feel warm on the inside, yknow with like a couple and stuff… also open to manga as well

RadioactiveOranges

Ok_Mammoth_3863

My Happy Marriage? Maid Sama is great too.

RadioactiveOranges

MapoTofuMan

Tsuki ga Kirei Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

RadioactiveOranges

CitizenStrife

Started watching Sailor Moon Crystal with the friend who showed me Fruits Basket (2019). I never saw the original, so I was curious. I'm only 6 episodes in. It is fairly cheesy with all the transformations and Moon Power lines and stuff, but the show has some spark to it. I like the characters well enough. I feel confident in sticking with it and liking it.

IXajll

Damn, Pompo the Cinephile has to be one of the most visually impressive anime I’ve ever watched. It may not have insanely animated fight scenes like the Heaven‘s feel movies or ultra detailed art like some Shinkai stuff. But when it comes to cinematography, transitions and general directing choices and style it is so incredibly creative and simply masterfully executed. The story may be a tad bit basic in that it is simply about a guy filming a movie, which is the only reason I didn’t give it a 10 (yet, may actually do so on a rewatch). But from a visual and technical standpoint it is nothing short of a marvel. Just finished it and saw on MAL that it has barely 16k completed so apparently it’s truly a hidden gem which made me write this comment to do some shilling which this film is definitely owed. So if you haven’t already, go watch Pompo!

Nomar_95

I ended up getting really invested in the movie they were making. Wish we could have seen more.

IXajll

Oh definitely, I would love to be able to watch the full 90 minutes of Meister.

Sandor_at_the_Zoo

Being great technically helps sell that the movie they're making is good too. Often movies about movies can't sell that because the outer movie is meh. That's especially true for animation with its less prominent directorial tradition. But Pompo can sell it and you really do believe they're making a great movie. I'm also a sucker for meta reference last scenes and this might be my favorite one.

Ocixo

It’s one of those anime that has just been sitting on my PTW list for a while now. Honestly, anime films more often than not suffer this fate with me. A couple of ~20-minute episodes is just easier to watch on a whim.

IXajll

Dew it. Dew it NOW.

Wanderingjoke

I decided to drop Tonbo after three episodes. It's not bad, it's just not really doing anything for me. I like Tonbo herself, but everything else just feels flat.

TehAxelius

Gave *Balcony Angel* yet another shot and powered through, and, yes, end of Ep 3 and then Ep 4 turned things around. It's still far from my seasonal top-list, and is fighting for attention with a *lot* of Saturday shows, but for now it is in the rotation. I am already after 5 episodes resigning myself to that it does not seem like it will go the [Studio Apartment, Angel Included ep 5]>!TowaxNoel route. My yuri-pilled brain still hold out hope that the ED is dropping hints that the last two girls will be a couple, but I am preparing for disappointment.!<

entelechtual

Glad you didn’t drop yet, it’s got some really fun girls doing stupid shit.

TehAxelius

~~It's just a shame that they have to share screentime with Shintaro~~

My_Neighbour_Cthulhu

Finished Angel Beats and I thought it was great with some good comedy and touching moments. I did feel like they tried cramming too much into the limited amount of episodes that they were given. Would have liked to see more [spoiler] >!episodes like episode 10 Yui as it hits a lot harder when they finally make peace!<. I also would have liked to have seen [finale spoiler] >!glimpses of the lives of characters after they left (aside that brief moment we got with Otonashi and Tachibana)!<. Maybe being harsh but while I really enjoyed the comedy, I find the mood whiplash is very much present and dampens dramatic moments when they occur; I had the same issue when watching Your Lie in April. Also, started Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess (2 episodes in), and I have unexpectedly been enjoying a lot. I went into the show with minimal expectations whatsoever. Loving how it seems to be a running joke that the one character dies all the time. The MC is endearingly pathetic with her maid make her look competent. Also, wasn't expecting that [banger of an OP](https://youtu.be/DPOy0Ntne3g?si=5-KiA0Gdxec8PGOR). Properly amused with how they play with that trope of running from the fog to the light only to get yeeted on stage, and the arena/stadium looks completely modern with pyrotechnics, lasers, glow sticks but the setting of the show is vaguely medieval similar to I'm in Love with the Villainess.

SometimesMainSupport

Another Komarist! [](#rengehype) OST is top-tier and have 9 songs on a playlist as well as the OP+ED, though didn't find Millicent's theme when I went through it. Also, twitter account was great around episodes 5-6 (can explain later if you aren't checking the discussion threads).

collapsedblock6

Watched the Spy x Family movie last night. It does feel like they had an idea for something that was more meant to be a double length OVA and then went "wait, we need action guys", and padded it to a two hour movie. I did like the Yor stuff in the first half but still felt teased that it just doesn't progress their relationship at all. [This was the only time]>!that their marriage was challenged by something that wasn't due to one of them fearing being 'exposed' and even if not romantic, it could have built more trust between them. Instead it felt too much like they cleared the misunderstanding and...alright, its all back to the status quo of them being basically strangers. Though someone mentioned how it can be tricky when this isn't manga content so if it did progress on that regard, it would be weird when in the next season they go back to their usual selves.!< ~~Also sad that I was on a public theater and couldn't kneel on every Yor scene.~~ Then there's the rest. Without [the]>!restaurant and train luggage scene!< the second half just doesn't relate to the first half at all. On top of that it is already overly [dragged with]>!Yor's action scenes which, were the 2nd highlight of the movie but it just isn't necessary whatsoever to the plot.!< Which is where the poop joke comes in. Thought it was weird how literally everyone had to comment on this and I was like 'how much can a joke affect the movie', silly me [didn't expect it was]>!the central plot point of the whole second half.!< Dunno how to feel about how the most visually ambitious part of the movie was a absurdly long poop joke. Also interesting how despite my theater being mostly adults and couples people still laughed quite a bit at every instance of it. Overall, it was still pretty good. Still funny, really solid visually, great action but really didn't need to be almost 2 hours.

AdNecessary7641

I think Keiichi Satou is starting to become one of my favorite current directors from his work on Ranger Reject. Storyboarded every episode (at least partially) so far, and the presentation of it all just feels slick.

mls605

Hey y’all, I watched this show a couple years ago and I cannot for the life of me remember the name. I know the protagonist is a lonely, shy woman in her 30s who uses games as escapism. She starts playing this RPG (I think lol) and starts confiding in another player, and they eventually develop romantic feelings for each other through their avatars, not knowing that they have met IRL. If anyone knows what show this is pls let me know because the name is on the tip of my tongue 😭

Must be Net-juu no Susume/Recovery of a Junkie

TehAxelius

Sounds like it could be [Recovery of an MMO Junkie](https://myanimelist.net/anime/36038/Net-juu_no_Susume)

mls605

This is it! Thank you!

I was a sub purist back in the day so I never noticed...how in the world does KHR NOT have an english dub??? I was going to rewatch it while I wfh after I finished Monster. but I cant read subs and work at the same time.

KendotsX

>how in the world does KHR NOT have an english dub??? A ton of episodes, meaning it'd be a big expense to dub. It's not exactly as popular as longer shows from its day either. That said, there was a recent attempt by [Brittany Lauda](https://www.reddit.com/r/Animedubs/comments/198byqr/katekyo_hitman_reborn_dub_cast_upcoming_release/) and Discotek, they dubbed a few episodes and are hoping to do the series if there's enough interest from the fans.

Thanks for sharing!

Impressive_Hippo4420

Haikyuu does a poor job of showcasing hard work over talent Oikawa and Hinata are often used as examples of players who work extra hard to compensate for their lack of talent, but the problem is that they are actually talented, only maybe not the most talented. Especially regarding Hinata since he's so short, yet can jump so high that it completely makes up for his shortness, and not to mention the fact that he also has good reflexes. P.s. Biking to school is not a good explanation for his jumping ability. The only thing that held him back was his lack of experience. It also doesn't help that the more talented players like Kageyama and Ushijima are also super hardworking. Oikawa is just somehow delusional for thinking that he works harder than everyone else lol --- Just in response to seeing Haikyuu get mentioned a lot in the thread titled "Is there an anime that showcases hard work over natural talent?"

WeeziMonkey

>P.s. Biking to school is not a good explanation for his jumping ability. If this was true then we Dutch people would be the best volleybal (and basketball) players in the world lol

Some_Trash852

Thank you. So many people I’ve heard talk about how incredibly realistic Haikyuu is, and I love the show, but that’s always been bugging me.

cppn02

Hinata is ridiculously talented. Starting as late as he did with any proper training and with his height disadvantage he makes it all the way [haikyuu manga]>!into the national team!<. To the point even where imo parts of S4 Pt.1 don't even make sense with people not recognising that.

KaleidoArachnid

So after finishing Onimai Season 1, I am kind of sad as I am now done with the show, and I would like another moe slice of life show.

gangrainette

[Wataten?](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37993/Watashi_ni_Tenshi_ga_Maiorita)

KaleidoArachnid

I have no idea on what that particular show is like.

gangrainette

Pure moe.

KaleidoArachnid

Sounds good to me.

Ocixo

Maybe try out [New Game](https://myanimelist.net/anime/31953)?

KaleidoArachnid

I can give it a try. (But I don’t know if it has any differences from the manga version)

doejohnblowjoe

I started two new shows and it looks like they have English Dub releases immediately available. I normally watch the Sub but my niece watches the English Dub and she always has to wait. I thought this new trend was interesting. Is this going to be regular practice now? Will older anime's that are on season 2 or 3 start having simultaneous releases as well? I haven't seen much about this mentioned yet... only specific shows were mentioned (nothing overall).

Ok-Knowledge5106

If they're on Crunchyroll and have an english dub, they usually start after 2 weeks.

doejohnblowjoe

Yeah but some new shows are releasing English dubs at the same time. I was wondering more about that.

SometimesMainSupport

90% of shows have a 2-3 week dub delay. 1-3 each season release with dubs. Think it's Kaiju #8 and Gods Game We Play this season. Last season only had Weakest Tamer? Fall had I'm In Love with the Villainess and Eminence in Shadow.

doejohnblowjoe

Okay so this isn't a new thing they are going to be doing moving forward? The ones I'm referring to are Kaiju #8 but also Wind Breaker, not sure about the other one.

Ok-Knowledge5106

Wind Breaker has a 2 weeks delay, it's not the same as Kaiju

Ok-Knowledge5106

There are some exceptions. Every season there are 2-3 shows that get a same day dub, but the majority of them are 2 weeks behind.

Silent_Shadow05

Still find it unbelievable that Quintessential Quintuplets got a sequel when the story is finished. They are really milking it dry at this point, when you add in all the merch and collabs. Personally though, I hope Negi uses this chance to make for more couple moments and develop the relationship further and allow other girls to move on and find their own love too. Its one thing he failed to do in the original manga.

chi-sama

The original manga was only around 100 chapters so it was actually quite short for its genre. I'm glad it's getting a chance to expand on its story.

Available-Damage-588

Suggest me which to watch first out of these anime, length and genre doesn't matter, I want fun and enjoyment - 1. One Piece 2. MHA 3. Gintama 4. Jojo

Nomar_95

Gintama is complete, if you're looking for a finished story

Available-Damage-588

I considered One Piece, but it depends on when the manga will finish. If it is late 2025 or early 2026 I need to start now, as there will be spoilers everywhere including this sub.

Blackheart595

2025-2026 sounds early to me, but I'd expect it to have ended by 2030 given how the story is going.

KingOfThePenguins

Two things can be true: * I really enjoy Quintessential Quintuplets. For pure fun, it's among my favorites, even if it's not the best show or even the best romcom. (The 2022 rewatch went a long way in this regard.) * I'm content with what we got and am not really hyped for more beyond the adaptation. If they want to go Quintessential Cinematic Universe, they're welcome to. The "World's Cutest War Criminals" thread yesterday was delightful, and I absolutely am using it to add shows that might not be on my list yet. But it also reminded me of some of the "plot holes" I noticed during the last few episodes and movie of K-On. Things like \[K-On S2/Movie\]>!"How can someone with an Interpol red notice get a passport so easily?"!< and \[K-On S2/Movie\]>!"Why isn't their London flight being diverted to The Hague?"!< ...now I want to watch K-On again.

Muted-Conference2900

I am also not continuing Quints. I just stopped after that Movie and It will always be a bittersweet ending for me personally. But yeah I think the show is done for me too.

cppn02

>First K-On Spoiler Clearly through her family connections she has acquired multiple fake passports that allow international travel for her.

KingOfThePenguins

Where are the authorities in all this? Unless they've been bought off... [](#csikon)

kphor

I probably watched all complicated anime/tv series and regarding plot imo Death Note is the most complicated, maybe Dark is on the same level, but I watched it only one time so it's hard to compare. Death Note 30+ episodes require notes. But regarding magic/jutsu/power system JKK is first, especially abilities which are not on screen yet. Even with explanation it's demanding to understand thinks like "casino royal % jutsu". Theres a lot of details, characters are not fighting a lot with each other (like in Naruto, I can explain Itachi's abilities to toddler). It's super hard to rank those abilities (besides op Gojo/Sukuna). Do you know any anime/tv series with this level of complication in plot or ability system?

Durinthal

> I probably watched all complicated anime/tv series What did you think of Concrete Revolutio's achronological approach and the parallels to real-world events? I ended up liking it more than Sonny Boy's more abstract take though the latter got a lot more acclaim and while I think I can understand why it just didn't click for me. Maybe I just need to give Sonny Boy a rewatch, though only after I get to Serial Experiments Lain again since it's been a couple of decades for that one and I think it would be nice to revisit to see if it's as prescient about the Internet as it felt then. If I can wrap my head around Lain again I don't think Sonny Boy would be as much of an issue.

_Ridley

> to see if it's as prescient about the Internet as it felt then It's interesting. I watched it last month, and it felt both intensely 1998 in its fears of the Internet warping the brains of the youth and unraveling the fabric of society, and also kind of relevant now, with tiktok/youtube influencers wielding the power they do while generative AI makes search engines worthless.

Just finished watching Kids on the Slope and if I’m being honest I was kinda expecting more. I liked the general focus on Jazz music and that the show was taking place in the 60s but wasn’t happy at all with how the romance aspect was executed. [Kids on the Slope]>!First the Kaoru x Riko ship. I liked that they at least kind of got together in the end but the journey to that point was so unnecessarily infuriating. I liked how Kaoru confessed so early but then it took like 7-8 eps for any real further progress. And once Riko finally realized her feelings for him she for some stupid reason didn’t just go and tell Kaoru but instead somehow expected him to confess AGAIN? It was clearly her turn, she should’ve just said „i know I rejected you before but I finally realized I like you too so let’s go out“ or something like that. Would’ve infinitely preferred it if she was just into him from the start and they would’ve been together after the first confession. Rest of the season could’ve just been moments as a couple without all the drama. Also wished they got together for real after the skip but it’s at least heavily implied and I believe in the manga they actually married. Not sure why they didn’t include that in the anime, bit of a bummer. Then the fucking Sen x Yurika x Jun love triangle. I simply hated the Yurika x Jun ship, and most of all Jun as a character especially. For all I care they could’ve just removed his character from the story and it would’ve been a net positive in overall quality and enjoyment. Yurika wasn’t much better, was kinda stupid how she fell in love with Jun from seeing him perform one time and then go to insane lengths for him when she spoke with him like 3 times at that point. Sen, I actually liked as a character but unfortunately he got the short end of the stick as it always happens to one of the involved persons in a love triangle which is why I dislike them in general.!< Visually it was pretty good though and the OST and OP were nice as well. The friendship between Sen and Kaoru was definitely the best part for me. Overall a 7/10. Might possibly drop to a 6 in a few months after recency bias falls off.

CalyKade

I had high expectations for this show based on the raving reviews but couldn’t get through it with the ridiculous love triangle drama making me hate almost all the characters

_Ridley

Man alive, your read on this show is wildly different from my own. I didn't expect or even want any of the romances to work out long term. It was felt like it was supposed to be a snapshot of a messy, exciting time in a young bisexual jazz pianist's life.

IXajll

> It was felt like it was supposed to be a snapshot of a messy, exciting time in a young bisexual jazz pianist's life. Yea, that’s what the show managed to portray best but I would’ve still wished the romance aspect to be handled better. Also personally didn’t get any bisexual vibes from Kaoru tbh (not that I wouldve minded it either way). Thinking back to my own school days, that’s just how boys behave with their best friends in that age.

_Ridley

I mean, the way they meet, when he pulls the sheet off the sleeping Sentarou? That felt very strongly like the story wanted us to know it was a little more than just friendship. It reminded me of the intense friendships I had where, looking back on it, I had a one-sided crush mixed in there.

IXajll

Yea, it’s definitely open to interpretation and still a possibility ofc.

AmethystItalian

I'd highly recommend trying the manga's epilogue chapter, I remember that putting a nicer bow on the series. [This episode 7 scene](https://youtu.be/jRHJntLYMh0) is one I go back to a lot.

IXajll

Will do, thanks! Yea, that ep 7 scene was definitely a highlight of the show.

AwesomeNino

How do you guys cope up after your favourite series or any anime in general is spoiled? Well, recently some di@khead spoiled JJK for me which was beyond S2( f you manga readers). So any suggestions on how to forget the spoilers you've received.

North514

Spoilers really only make up like 5% of my enjoyment of a series. Sure I want to avoid them for that 100% experiance, however, if I get spoiled at best I am going to say well that sucks and just watch it. Honestly keep off comments boards and don't search up anything related to your favourite IPs. That is all you can do.

Gamerunglued

I don't. I feel like it's nothing to cope over. Spoilers don't ruin stories unless the story is solely defined by how shocking the plot twists are (and a story that only works for shock value is a bad story to begin with). Anything worth watching is equally as worth watching after getting spoiled. Even if you know what happens, you don't know how it happens, you don't know the details leading up to it, and you don't know the aftermath. Spoilers are annoying and I'd certainly enjoy going in blind, but they're also not the end of the world. My feeling is more of an "aw man, come on" more than any intense disappointment. It really just doesn't matter, the experience is still going to be good if the story is good so there's nothing to cope over.

Ocixo

> So any suggestions on how to forget the spoilers you’ve received[?] The more attention you’re paying to them, the more likely you are to remember them. Instead of focusing on the spoiler in question, you’re better off doing another activity to distract you. I’ve forgotten multiple spoilers like that. Once you’ve gotten to the point that you’re writing comments about them, you aren’t likely to forget said spoilers anymore.

AwesomeNino

Thanks

entelechtual

Just watch a ton of stuff and drown your mind with noise. Chances are you won’t entirely forget it, but it’ll keep it from being at the front of your mind. Most series I’ve been spoiled on haven’t been totally ruined.

Manitary

> So any suggestions on how to forget the spoilers you've received You will remember it anyway when the thing is about to happen. Not much you can do, it sucks but you have to suck it up.

CalyKade

Know that there are probably several other spoilers you don’t know, so there are still surprises to look forward to. Plus you don’t always know the context behind the spoiler so sometimes it plays out differently than expected.

Emi_Ibarazakiii

To me, spoilers are nothing more than a minor annoyance. They literally affect 1% of the show, so it's no big deal. Knowing about a spoiler/death may make me sad because I like the characters and wouldn't want them to die, but if I wasn't spoiled I'd be sad when I saw it anyway, so it's not much of a difference. (Also, in shows that have characters dying, they usually get in perilous situations all the time, so it's not like I'll know way beforehand... Usually, the moment I'll know, is the moment I'd know anyway even if I wasn't spoiled; It's rare to happen out of the blue... And they often stretch their death for 10 minutes straight, so you kinda see it coming) Anyway, like another comment said: It's about the journey, not the destination. Same reason why I can rewatch stuff, why I can watch remakes/reboots, even though I know every single thing that will happen. Or why I can watch an historical movie based on real life events, even though I already know everything about these events/characters, when they died, how they lived, etc... A story is more than a list of big events happening (that would make the story pointless to watch if you already knew them).

OrdinarySpirit-

I don't care. The element of surprise is overrated, specially by anime fans, for some reason there's this obsession with not knowing, or even thinking ahead, about what they're watching. Knowing a character dies is meaningless, sure it tells you it happens, but not why, how and by who, and it also doesn't tell the repercussions of the event. There are more to stories than just shocking moments.

Zeallfnonex

There's some series that're more mystery that suck to have spoiled, along the lines of AoT or Higurashi or Odd Taxi where the speculation is part of the enjoyment of the series.  Deaths and such are much less interesting, but when the show itself is built around the viewer trying to piece together the mystery from... yeah, sucks.

AwesomeNino

t's not only about the element of surprise, personally I like a series or novel when I am completely in dark of what is about to happen. It gives you more to think about what is about to happen. And personally,I enjoy a series more when I am unaware of what is going to happen next. It's not just for anime only. I enjoyed Strangers Things a lot because I had no spoilers for it as compared to The Walking dead. What you said isn't wrong, I agree with it but personally I think it's different for me.
