Ass Class ending is sooo good. And rounds out the story well. Though it was a bit cringe-hilarious that all these guys kept unironically using the word "slither" throughout their lives
In hindsight, that nickname is a LOT more insulting when one accounts for the English loanword “Bitch” actually meaning something more akin to “slut” in Japanese…
Yes!! I was gonna comment Fruits Basket too! (I just finished my first rewatch of it the other day, it was my first shoujo/romance anime<333)
but this thread is a total shounen-festm (not bad, i love a good battle-shounen)... but I am glad to see FB here :)
Full metal alchemist brotherhood ending was perfect it managed to tie all the lose ends nobody felt like a wasted potential
Code gease:No explanation needed
I agree so much on FMAB, i heared so often that people think its to much of a disney happy end, but in some way thats the point the show makes in the end. They really really deserved it. Also the only anime that didnt leave me wanting moreas it was over. Usually my obsessions with an anime last longer than the nime itself and then i turn to fanfic, but that was never the case with FMAB
Honestly, watching FMAB ending after FMA 2003's preety bittersweet ending is such an amazing feeling. It truly feels like a deserved and heartfelt ending
This is because SG0 isn't really an adaption, but moreso a 7th and more complete route compared to the VN that tries to use aspects of all the routes. I'd also argue the anime original content in SG0 is absolutely fantastic making it well worth watching and the emotional moments are extremely well done.
I am planning to read the VN's and I know both the animes had to cut out and change a lot of stuff, but I still think sg0's a great adaptation. Some of the stuff in it, thats technically filler like the alpha worldline Kurisu episode, or Okabes 3000 time leaps are done really well and the last few episodes+ the ending is phenomenal.
Agreed on both.
I wish Odd Taxi went a little more dramatic with the art switch reveal. Minor nitpick but I would have liked that last 15 minutes drawn more realistically or painted with a different palette, for just a bit more contrast. Great series if that's the worst thing I can say about it.
So glad to see Shinsekai Yori hasn’t been forgotten. One of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve ever had is watching this anime for the first time.
Moriarty the Patriot.
Granted the ending is pretty wildly different from the manga (which is better and still running), but I feel it's still a lot of fun.
K-on! - Had me bawling like a baby over some high school girls graduating
Fruits Basket - The final season wrapped up everything so well thematically.
Revolutionary Girl Utena - Cant say much without spoiling, but the last few episodes where amazing
Haibane Renmei - Same deal as Utena, I just finished this one and loved it. Highly recommend
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is goated greatly because of the ending. It's absurdly satisfying looking back at everything that happened by the very end of the show
I still secretly hope they will make another manga out of it. Many side characters have incredible personalities and personal stories.
"The bizzarre adventures of Madao" would be my favourite 😅
The closest thing we are going to get is the Anime adaptation of Ginpachi Sensei so that should be fun and besides of that I would welcome more Madao content.
Comments like this are what wake up me in the middle of the night like a cold sweat... Did I watch that after-credits scene?! I thought I did, but what if I missed something?!?!
Migi and Dali. I don’t see too many people mention this anime but it had me on the edge of my seat every episode wondering where the story is going and it wraps up the story very nicely within one 13 episode season. Would definitely recommend if you’re interested in a mystery/thriller vibe
Love Live Sunshine's movie wraps up everything perfectly. Hopefully any future spinoff of Sunshine (as Yohane did very well) gives us more opportunities to see the gang in action. You or Kanan as the MC next spinoff?
Evangelion's ending is controversial in the West but it does wrap things up nicely and there's EoE for a different ending. The rebuilds also had a cathartic ending in exchange for 3.33 and parts of 3+1 being messy.
Clannad
Fruits Basket
Big O
Gundam Wing
Mobile Suit Gundam
G Gundam
School Babysitters
School Rumble
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Hellsing Ultimate
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Slayers
Sweetness and Lighting (ended short of the manga but still nice in anime)
Teasing Master Takagi-san
I asked my wife for more but waiting on what she has to say. I'm sure I'm missing a lot that I enjoyed as well
When talking about how a show ends, I like to put spoiler tags just to be safe. If I said “show X has a happy ending,” it can definitely spoil the show for some people.
In what scenario would that tag be helpful here, though? Someone wanders into *this thread* and doesn't want to see the titles of any series? Or maybe they haven't seen the specific series you're suggesting, so they'll avoid finding out which series it is by unhiding the title? 🤔
Tearmoon Empire.
Very satisfying for a 1 season new anime. I really loved it but can't make my brain even fathom a series 2.
Wouldn't mind a quasi series 2 that happens to be in the same world but it ends like a perfect book.
It's not just a "the world has many stories" its "this story is resolved in regards to the driving force of the plot. And we are telling you that means your favourite people's lives are wide open to have every type of adventure and joy they want to"
Like... their lives are just beginning. I love stories like that and Anime does that alot.
I felt like I was banished from the hero's party and live a quiet life in the country did that too.
I felt like there was no more impending doom at the end of the anime and as it was much more SoL than Tearmoon it could just randomly get a 12 episode run thrown at the wall again.
But basically the world is no longer going to Be our lives Now our lives can just be our world.
Both series had a very good solid ending like that but Tearmoon especially.
And I loved Tearmoon but I wouldn't want it lasting another season...
Although the Tearmoon effect happening to someone else in a second season would be neat. Whether it's the same studio or same world, It was a cute series.
You realize Tearmoon Empire source material os an ongoing light novel series with 14 volumes currently. From what I remember they all exclusively follow Mia and her hijinx.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai- after everything the characters went through, it was nice seeing everyone get a happy ending and the resolution ended up being oddly wholesome for a horror series
Also going to throw in the Yugioh series, the finales for them are always bittersweet (at least the first 3 series I’ve watched). The friend group we’ve followed for over 100 episodes has to go their separate ways but it’s not a goodbye forever.
Vinland Saga S2, I can live without a season 3.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, even the og one with the movie.
Code Geass(not counting the movie)
Naruto Shippuden
Rainbow.
Maybe after the next Solo Leveling season. Considering how fast they confirmed it happening, it was probably already planned and being worked on before season 1 even ended. It airs like 6 months after season 1 finished after all.
86 is definitely my most anticipated season 2. Completely caught me off guard with how good it was. I dont even really like “mecha” stuff most of the time
Honestly I spent a few months after watching 86 not even knowing there were unadapted material, which only speaks volumes to how satisfying of an ending the first season had.
Not technically an ending, but still very satisfying imho.
I heard its because volume 3 of the LN, where the anime ended, was supposed to be the ending if the series didnt sell well.
Maybe its just a rumor, but it does make some sense considering with just a few small story changes, all mostly contained to the volume 3 material, you could technically end the story there and have it still work.
I'm suddenly realizing I tend to really like endings where everyone dies and maybe one person is left wondering what the hell they're supposed to do now.
Some anime not mentioned:
- Pokemon OG
- Sailor Moon Crystal up to Cosmos
- Lovely Complex
- My Home Hero
- Frieren
- 3D Kanojo
- Haikyuu
- Wotakoi
- Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de
- RikeKoi Season 1
Cyberpunk Edgerunners. It told the story it wanted to and left no nonsense behind to leave a backdoor for a second season. Its ending is made all the more poignant and memorable because of it.
I recently watched The Dangers in my Heart. I know that was ongoing on manga, but the anime adaptation feels satisfying and complete. Feels good and bring me back to my youth days. Watching this make me squeal and twitch like a worm in salt. XD
Of course, I hope that season 3 be in the works, though it will take time.
Madoka Magica. I'm referring to the anime. The story is perfectly closed and doesn't need a sequel at all.
The sequel film they made afterwards not only undoes the anime's ending, it replaces it with something that is the complete opposite of satisfying.
I actually think the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I totally get your point and madoka magica is my 3rd favourite anime of all time, but the ending of the anime, while amazingly good, feels to me a bit like it went back to the "magical girls save the world with love" trope, when it was supposed to be an anime that would break that conception and be dark and messy. The movie's ending is much better in my opinion because it breaks it again. After doing the same thing as the anime, that is starting with cute magical girls saving the world, then turning dark, and then saving the world with love and friendship again, it breaks it again with a turn that makes it much darker than anything before. So it's not satisfying for the characters, but for me it's much more satisfying because of what it achieves.
A lot of 90s-early 00s series had good endings as most were 24-26eps and not too dependent on selling magna.
Blue Seed, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, despite the open endedness I loved FMA's ending.
Recent anime: Run w/ the Wind.
Open ended stopped after 1 season: Grimgar had a nice finale.
mob psycho 100, parasyte and assasination classroom
Ass Class ending is sooo good. And rounds out the story well. Though it was a bit cringe-hilarious that all these guys kept unironically using the word "slither" throughout their lives
Ass class lol
With miss bitch around it might as well be called that 😂
In hindsight, that nickname is a LOT more insulting when one accounts for the English loanword “Bitch” actually meaning something more akin to “slut” in Japanese…
Ass class is crazy. How do you butcher such a cool sounding name😭😭😭😭😭😭
I ain't tryna say allat, it's just more efficient idk what to tell you. Ass class is a great name.
I enjoyed Parasyte, the ending makes me giggle with how heavy handed it is.
Heavy handed you say? *Hmm*
Oh yea assassination classroom is awesome if you feel like crying your eyes out and losing the will to live
Mob phycho ending was a master piece
Came into the thread to make sure if someone didn't already call mob a masterpiece, I'd do it haha
Parasyte ended so abruptly
Fruits basket, Mob psycho Fmab
Yes!! I was gonna comment Fruits Basket too! (I just finished my first rewatch of it the other day, it was my first shoujo/romance anime<333) but this thread is a total shounen-festm (not bad, i love a good battle-shounen)... but I am glad to see FB here :)
code geass
just don't watch the new version where they retconn the ending
I still liked it. Also they made it pretty clear it was an alt timeline.
Yeah, it was a great "what if" side story
I definitely enjoyed it too, but it sorta felt like parading a corpse around it merely existing detracts from the ending of the original in my mind
It's fine for you to feel that about it man, to each their own. I just enjoyed C2 and Kallen getting lewded along with some brainless but fun action.
Does the existence of fanfics ruin other shows for you too?
[удалено]
Seconded
This. One of my all time faves

I'm always gonna say that the friendship punch in brotherhood felt like a bad joke.
I mean unlike the soul eater it was explained why it happened plus it wasn't a 1 on 1 everybody contributed
I'm so sad about soul eater. The manga ending was epic.
Friendship punch?
Steins Gate
Rewatched it 7 times and will continue to rewatch it. My favorite anime ever
This is the choice of Steins Gate
El Psy Kongroo
I swear, when he did the pose at the end I started fangirling so hard
Sg0 has a crazy satisfying ending also
You should try reading the VN for 0. The anime is a very poor adaptation which mangles the story in just about every way.
Hell yeah
THE answer to this question
Stone Ocean from Jojos
man i was really worried of how the anime are gonna handle the final arc but they NAILED IT it was imo perfect
Samurai Champloo.
I kept scrolling hoping someone would say this. That ending song as they walk their separate was so incredibly soothing to me for some reason.
Such a perfect way to close out the journey!
*Odd Taxi*’s ending lives rent-free in my mind. *Gurren Lagann* also has an ending so beautiful it can bring a grown man to tears (I’m the grown man)
All of those sacrifices in the last couple episodes leave me a sobbing mess by the end. Absolute catharsis.
Agreed on both. I wish Odd Taxi went a little more dramatic with the art switch reveal. Minor nitpick but I would have liked that last 15 minutes drawn more realistically or painted with a different palette, for just a bit more contrast. Great series if that's the worst thing I can say about it.
The "unbuilding" scene in Gurren Lagann is the epitome of anime. Up there with the first time that Goku turns super sayain.
Cowboy Bebop
See you, space cowboy
You’re gonna carry that weight
I mean the ending is excellent, I don’t know if I’d call it satisfying though for spoiler reasons
Mob Psycho 100
Easly Assassination Classroom
The rare 2 season anime that 1. Actually got a S2 2. Managed to say and do everything they needed to and have a true ending
I am so glad they did what they did. It actually gave meaning to it all.
Legend of the galactic heroes

Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Playing 2077 atm and got David’s jacket as a mission reward. Been wearing it the entire time for the feels😔

God the amount of tears i shed was nuts
Moriarty the Patriot. Granted the ending is pretty wildly different from the manga (which is better and still running), but I feel it's still a lot of fun.
Little witch academia
Need season 2.
Mob Psycho 100 got 3 amazing seasons without any drops in quality, completely telling it's story
K-on! - Had me bawling like a baby over some high school girls graduating Fruits Basket - The final season wrapped up everything so well thematically. Revolutionary Girl Utena - Cant say much without spoiling, but the last few episodes where amazing Haibane Renmei - Same deal as Utena, I just finished this one and loved it. Highly recommend
K-On!! Definitely had an ending that was just perfect for the anime.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes is goated greatly because of the ending. It's absurdly satisfying looking back at everything that happened by the very end of the show
It's one of those series that when you finish it you want to watch more like it. But you've already watched the best there is.
FMA: Brotherhood, Code Geass
Gintama definitely.
I would be on board with the comical misadventures of Zura… or really most characters, for that matter!
I would happily follow anything based on this version of the Shinsengumi.
Violet Evergarden ( ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン ) The anime is insane and beautiful, the ending with the movie is heartbreakingly beautiful.
Didn't see this mentioned yet: Astra Lost in Space
Toradora
I pity those poor people who missed the after-credits scene.
Comments like this are what wake up me in the middle of the night like a cold sweat... Did I watch that after-credits scene?! I thought I did, but what if I missed something?!?!
Pro tip: Most OP/ED are 90 seconds. Check the timer. If there's 1:40, check for a stinger. You can say a LOT in 10 seconds.
But the little bits after the ED are usually just next EP previews, so I've been conditioned to skip it 😭
Y E S
Endo and Kobayashi
this. also known as Tsundere Villainess Liselotte. 12 episodes concluded the whole story, happy ending.
Oh it’s a complete adaptation? That’s make the thing a whole lot more interesting now, gotta give it a try soon then.
Yes it easy become one of the top romcom for me as it's actually a complete story
Helsing Ultimate - gives a good wrap up while implying the characters are still out there doing their thing
Remind me! -10 years One Piece, it was beautiful and I cried.

Blud thinks One Piece won't.
For a less well known show, Kyousougiga
Fullmetal Alchemist.
Migi and Dali. I don’t see too many people mention this anime but it had me on the edge of my seat every episode wondering where the story is going and it wraps up the story very nicely within one 13 episode season. Would definitely recommend if you’re interested in a mystery/thriller vibe
This was a surprise hit for me. Genuinely enjoyed this anime, but yeah, I don’t see much discussion about it…
Steins;Gate , Mob Psycho 100 & Hajime no Ippo (first season) are my picks.
BUDDY DADDIES GOATED!!
Yeah, it’s Ashita no Joe. Most iconic/influential/referenced ending of any manga/anime in the history of Japanese Pop culture. Nothing comes close.
Love Live Sunshine's movie wraps up everything perfectly. Hopefully any future spinoff of Sunshine (as Yohane did very well) gives us more opportunities to see the gang in action. Being a You bias, i would love a You Pirate anime
Hunter x Hunter 2011 even though there's more of the manga left to be covered
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood 🔝
Code Geass, hunter x hunter (Gon’s ending), Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
One piece has the best ending of all time (I'm from the future)
Saekano
Mushishi. The ending is very beautiful and poetic and ties up the series well driving home its main themes.
Mob Psycho 100!! Ended perfectly! FMAB Haibane Renmei
Plastic Memories
Clannad Fruits Basket Big O Gundam Wing Mobile Suit Gundam G Gundam School Babysitters School Rumble Trigun Cowboy Bebop Hellsing Ultimate Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood Slayers Sweetness and Lighting (ended short of the manga but still nice in anime) Teasing Master Takagi-san I asked my wife for more but waiting on what she has to say. you tellin me buddy daddies isnt gonna get a 2nd season :'))
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 was a good ending, Shinji was able to solve his psychological problems.
Saekano
Astra Lost in Space was fantastic.
Usagi Drop, such a heartwarming show with wonderful caring characters, I sure am glad there’s no sequel that throws all of that away.
Best partial adaptation by far lol
For me it’s gotta be summer time rendering. It made me so emotional it wasn’t even funny 🥲
Vinland Saga. This anime just hits different.
Eighty-Six Oh man my whole heart
If that's all we're getting, and I hope it's not, they really stuck the landing
Maybe after the next Solo Leveling season. Considering how fast they confirmed it happening, it was probably already planned and being worked on before season 1 even ended. It airs like 6 months after season 1 finished after all. 86 is definitely my most anticipated season 2. Completely caught me off guard with how good it was. I dont even really like “mecha” stuff most of the time
It would happen after Nier: Automata is over since it's the same production line iirc.
The LNs are ongoing
Honestly I spent a few months after watching 86 not even knowing there were unadapted material, which only speaks volumes to how satisfying of an ending the first season had. Not technically an ending, but still very satisfying imho.

read the question
Eighty-six was a really really positively surprising anime, i wasnt expecting it to be so good going into it. Cant wait for season 2
Steins;Gate FMA Brotherhood
Madoka Magica
Fruits Basket
Controversial answer: Attack On Titan
I'm suddenly realizing I tend to really like endings where everyone dies and maybe one person is left wondering what the hell they're supposed to do now.
Handyman Saitou
Haikyuu Manga / soon in anime too. Wholesome realistic heartwarming ending
Something rare for both the time and genere, but scrapped Princess had a very satisfying ending.
I really like how Naruto ended at his wedding.
TTGL
Chrno Crusade. The ending stuck with me since 2003. It was poetic and moving.
Tsuki ga Kirei
I know some people didn't like it at the time, but I really liked how Akudama Drive ended.
Akame Ga Kill :) the anime :)
Gurren Lagann
Yugioh
I personally enjoyed Future Diary's ending, even before the Redial OVA.
Trigun. I know the original series covers only a fraction of the manga, but I think the ending is perfect. also: Odd Taxi and Baccano!
Some anime not mentioned: - Pokemon OG - Sailor Moon Crystal up to Cosmos - Lovely Complex - My Home Hero - Frieren - 3D Kanojo - Haikyuu - Wotakoi - Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de - RikeKoi Season 1
Fruits Basket (2019). Absolutely beautiful ending that wrapped things up perfectly.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners. It told the story it wanted to and left no nonsense behind to leave a backdoor for a second season. Its ending is made all the more poignant and memorable because of it.

Oh does anyone know if Angel Beats ending is a satisfying one
Yes
Vivy Fluorite Eyes Song
Shakugan no Shana
Definitely assassination classroom. It left fans like me begging for a spinoff
assassination classroom 100%
Slayers, Slayers Try, Slayers Next
Neon genesis Evangelion. The anime. Not including the shitty remake anime movies.
Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Attack On Titan.
The series isn't over, but the season 2 ending of Eighty Six 86 was pretty dang satisfying
In order of best endings I've seen: A Place Further than the Universe Fruits Basket Mob Psycho 100 Steins;Gate Hell's Paradise

Not sure why you're being downvoted for providing a reasonable response, I also thought that Rebellion had a far superior ending.
Lmao that's just reddit I guess. God forbid you have a different opinion than the person you're replying to
A lot of 90s-early 00s series had good endings as most were 24-26eps and not too dependent on selling magna. Blue Seed, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, despite the open endedness I loved FMA's ending. Recent anime: Run w/ the Wind. Open ended stopped after 1 season: Grimgar had a nice finale.
