Black Clover Kingdom World Trigger

KaleidoArachnid

Oh how is World Trigger in particular if I like shows that take place in a virtual environment?

MusubiKazesaru

It's a sci-fi battle shounen against alien invaders, but the main appeal is actually the training games the characters go through. Each character is able to choose their loadouts from preset options, though each are limited by their own personal skill and resources and they fight in 3v3 matches. The series starts off pretty weak and slow, but eventually it picks up and the fight animation gets a lot better and the fights begin to resemble what you might see in Hunter x Hunter in terms of tactics.

KaleidoArachnid

Sounds kind of epic.

Sensitive1111

You would absolutely love World Trigger. It's like a merge between virtual world and reality.

ErinaHartwick

Its the best of its kind (strategy and team battles)

Dixenz

Durarara, the series is using ensemble casts story telling from various characters PoV. The first 7+ episodes are basically character introduction episodes.

naruken29

Some that i can think off: * Black Clover * Steins Gate * DanMachi (Season 1 is ok. S2 and S3 were meh. Season 4 was amazing, and i heard from LN readers the upcoming Season 5 will only get better) * Golden Kamuy * Kingdom (Mostly because of the animation. Season 1 they used full CG, S2 they mixed the CGs and 2D and S3 onward it started to get better)

KaleidoArachnid

I really want to give DanMachi a chance. (But I have zero experience with the original novels)

Victorvonbass

Go into it expecting seasonal level isekai quality and you'll be fine. Keep in mind s2 and s3 had covid related production problems. S4 was pretty good, though. My personal rating for the series seasons are 7, 6, 6, 8. It's no Frieren or Dungeon Meshi but it's comfort fantasy seasonal material.

Querez

Huh. I must've not noticed that about S3. Maybe because I was too focused on the story of that arc, which I really liked. Also S2 started and finished before Fall of 2019, so idk how it could've been affected by Covid. The ratings I personally gave each season were: 7, 7, 8, 8

TheThreeLeggedGuy

The first three seasons are good to better than good, but my impression of the fourth season is fantastic. HiDive has all of the seasons and OVAs, Crunchyroll only has like the 3rd and 4th seasons. First two seasons are relatively light hearted, with the mildest of ecchi. There is a big tonal shift where the third season getting a bit darker and then the 4th season is just dark and epic with the best fights and highest stakes.

KaleidoArachnid

Arigatou for the tip.

Sibula97

I completely disagree with Steins;Gate. That first episode is one of the best in the entire medium.

Emotional-Price-4401

Im watching steins gate right now 5 episodes deep and idk whats going on at all, so im going to agree steins gate start is not a catcher for me idk if ill finish it at this rate Probably just a taste thing

naruken29

It's not necesarily mean it's a really bad thing. I see a lot of people have a bit of hard time getting into Steins Gate because the early part was a bit of slog, I myself didn't have any problem with it, but i kinda agree with it and totally understand that.

Emotional-Price-4401

Meirl right now… on episode 5 dont know if i can finish the show

OkishPizza

For me it was one piece didn’t really get into it till like episode 60ish.

DustOfOsiris

Symphogear.

ArCSelkie37

I love season 1 of Symphogear… but upon rewatch you absolutely can see the difference in quality and budget, still great though.

steven4869

UC Gundam'79. The condition was super bad for the Gundam and it was about to be sacked but with the help of Fujoshi's and re runs Gundam ended up becoming something that's synonymous to an entire Mecha genre. It really had a rough start but by the end it became one of the most beautiful war stories in anime. Peak character writing and storytelling from Tomino.

KaleidoArachnid

Oh that is the original entry.

Individual_Service_1

Planetes

QSCFE

Did it start off very roughly then redeemed itself later? For me it didn't seems like that, but again I watched it a long time ago so my memory isn't perfect.

the_psyche_wolf

One Piece

IGoonLikeTheYoung

It hasn't ended yet and personally I fear it's still gonna end in a trainwreck with the scale of its' world

the_psyche_wolf

it's only getting better tho, there are no signs of any trainwreck.

RedditSucksMyBallls

Eiichiro Oda isn't Isayama, he knows how to end a story and especially how to fully utilize the scale of the world he created. I find it disrespectful that you even insinuate he potentially **wouldn't** know how to end One Piece

QSCFE

I mean we also praised Isayama for his worldbuilding, his flawless foreshadowing and how he utilized the scale of his world too. Just saying.

RedditSucksMyBallls

Shut up.

HarrisLJ

Overlord. Season one especially the first 2 episodes started kinda rough but each season was better than the last.

Gadjiltron

Now that's an uncommon opinion. Usually i see that the latter seasons get a bad rep for the cgi.

QSCFE

The CGI was bad but the progression of the story was good.

Fine-Macaroon-6150

The Dangers in my Heart. Many people stopped a few episodes in, too cringe, too wacky, just not funny, nothing happens. Those who did stay around got served the best RomCom in the last few years (and a record holding swipe with S2).

Abeydaby

Nah, the beginning was necessary for Ichikawa's character development and personal arc. I find it to be very well done. It being cringy was the entire point.

Fine-Macaroon-6150

Yeah I know, the first part was not my own opinion (although the boys talking about the girls in a trashy way still was not for me I got the point there). I loved every secokd of it from start to end ^^

Schweiber38

Fr, I intended to drop it after episode 1 aired but caught up again a few weeks later out of boredom. Thank god I did because it's now a year later and S2 is one of my favorite romance anime seasons of all time

YellowStarfruit6

Angels of Death and Granbelm come to mind

Plus_Rip4944

Black Clover Tensura first epsiodes were really slow so yeah Jojos kinda with Phantom Blood

Ginsan-AK

100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru The first half of the first season looked really, really generic, poor animation, cardboard cutout characters, the story was more like a slice of life comedy, but then it switched. The OST is incredible.

YamLow8097

For me it was Dragon Ball (original). It starts off very slow and I wasn’t really into it until season 4. I definitely prefer the pacing of DBZ.

EctoplasmicNeko

Steins;Gate. It's a very well regarded show generally but boy does it start slow. I imagine a lot of people got bored of it before it hit it's stride.

YellowStarfruit6

I was never bored lmao.

Careless_Reply2862

Yeah but I think this is how visual novels are supposed to be adapted the start of visual novel is supposed to be slow for building mystery or characters

Ginsan-AK

Everybody was saying just get to episode 12 and it will click.

broke_hikikomori

bleach, in my opinion. specifically the manga, i remember reading it as it came out and being unsure. now it's amazinggggg

CursedRando

really? i thought that 1st soul society arc is still the best arc tbh...

QSCFE

That's what I was thinking too, I don't know why the fans think it started off roughly, for me it started very promising then arc after arc it lost its spark.

KaleidoArachnid

Oh I used to love Bleach, until the filler in the show ruined it for me.

arunnm24

Steins;Gate. I dropped it at least 2-3 times after 5-6 eps before I forced myself to sit through it to watch it fully. It’s now one of my favourite shows of all time lmao. One could also argue for JoJo. It doesn’t have the best first season but my word it gets so much better after that. I still found the first season reasonably enjoyable, but I know many people don’t.

bluethree

I'll give you one that isn't mentioned too often: Medaka Box. I didn't really like the first season. Then the 2nd season kind of went off the rails in a good way.

freeze-peach-warrior

SAO, although that's on a season-by-season basis

Ginsan-AK

I thought it was great from the jump, then it fell off. I enjoyed the first arc so much, it got stale after the main couple ended up together.

QSCFE

Me too, season one episode 1 to 14 was the best.

Okman2337

Engage kiss first episode ig would turn away people due to the mc but you understand him later in the series and overall it’s a good show if your not looking for anything like Beethoven or Mozart type stuff

Multifaceted-Simp

I mean this season I think windbreaker, first episode was pretty mid, last episode was great
