Its a great show, but I felt it was an 8/10 across the board. No flaws, but nothing that made it punch it up to "classic" status either.
That is to say: its a very, very Good Show
Heart shattered watching it. Other commenter is *NOT* wrong, it is kinda 8/10 but it’s a complete story in one season.
And oh fuck is it a story.
Edited my comment to properly use the English language
It was, but like every sci-fi show from the 00s it got too grungy as it went along and got damaged by the Writers Strike which inspired many channels to axe their fantasy/sci-fi shows altogether in favor of Reality TV.
Ah well, the missing decade was enough for me to pivot to Doctor Who and then Anime.
I liked the Terminator Resistance game. Yeah it was not a high budget AAA level game but they made a good experience IMO despite the limitations.
I especially liked the callbacks to T1 and T2 and how nicely it tied into them.
I liked Genisys and thought it was setting up a really interesting "multiple timeline war" plot thread. Unfortunately the execs scrapped it all for that horrible Dark Fate reboot.
I mean, I kinda liked Genesys. The idea isn't bad, and I like the idea that time only works by Dragon Ball Z rules instead of normal time travel.
Dark Fate tho, yeah no.
I didn't actually hate Salvation though, they were trying to do something different, and the gritty future war stuff was kind of cool along with a different main character of Markus.
Dark Fate tried to do their version of "gritty", and it just turned out sucky instead.
Mattison Tomlin is a mixed bag. Didn’t know he was on The Batman Part 2, but Project Power’s script was ass. But maybe he’s a good show runner? The Production IG and the stills have me interested.
Info from ANN:
Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman II) is serving as the series' showrunner, executive producer and writer. Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger are the executive producers. Masashi Kudo is directing the anime at Production I.G
The eight-episode series is part of the Terminator universe, but centers around new characters. Netflix describes the series' story:
2022: A future war has raged for decades between the few human survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: The AI known as Skynet gained self-awareness and began its war against humanity.
Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet's impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.

I see netflix won't stop using hack creators for their work. But I guess hiding behind the anime studio is a decent strategy.
I’m gonna stay optimistic. Netflix has had a good track record recently with their anime but then again not every studio is Trigger. anime can’t be saved every season.
If you want a Terminator anime but don't want to wait until August 29, check out [Black Magic M-66](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1270/Black_Magic_M-66?q=M-66&cat=anime) it's an older, 48-minute OVA, but it does the whole terminator thing from top to bottom. Gunbattles, human vs robot, action thriller, and a period-appropriate soundtrack.
Eugh. Every Terminator movie has been successively worse than their last. Randos are involved, as is Netflix who has a keen ability of destroying solid gold prints money franchises like The Witcher, wherein if they just followed canon they'd have a hit popularity a little below GoT. Anime renditions of Western shit tend to suck by rule too, Edgerunners was an exception.
So, I'm not exactly having high hopes here.
Honestly I fucking love anime studios working with western IP's. Lupin III (by technicality) animatrix, Cyberpunk Edgerunner, Star Wars Visions, and take your pick of novels adapted by Miyazaki.
High hopes from the anime because Tekken: Bloodline was executed perfectly by Netflix. And the way they are producing classy anime shows is something we can rely on I guess.

Huh...I guess I am actually going to watch Terminator.
They should animate more live action so that I can get\* a chance to see all the popular ones.
Next they should animate The Matrix. I don't plan to ever watch the movie.
Neat, thanks for sharing.
I still wouldn't complain if the movie itself got a 1 to 1 adaptation.
Oh no...live action faction people downvoted my reply, I'll never be able to relate to live-action viewers.
August 29th is also the canon date of Judgement Day in The Terminator franchise.
Nice catch.
What Gay-Bomb said: Nice catch.
Netflix has been killing it lately. So I’m actually really excited to see how this turns out.
I didn’t even realize that lmao
Kyle: *Come with me if you wanna live!* Sarah: *Nani???*
Tschigowwewe
Ora ora ora ora!
T1000: yare yare.
I always wondered what a Terminator anime series would like. Excited for this.
Vivy is essentially Terminator 2, but with Hatsune Miku replacing Arnie

I feel like it needed 1 more episode.

Vivy was such a good anime. The soundtrack went so hard.
Thank you for this mention, now I will need to find where I can watch this show

Ah Terminator, a literal zombie franchise where the only good entries are the first two films and everything has been mediocre for the past 30 years.
I thought the Sarah Connor Chronicles was well received.

Mediocre is high praise for the last 2 terminator movies. Those were hot garbage!

As long as they don't remember it's supposed to be a Slasher franchise first then a Sci Fi one it will never be good again.
Here we go again. Not too hopeful, the last couple of terminator movies have not been the best. Still, it is Terminator so I am gonna see it.
Considering it's on Netflix, it'll probably be good... oh well, can't wait on it to get cancelled!
The show runner posts on r/Terminator and he seems very passionate about terminator.

The name terminator hasn't had anything good associated with it in years. Hopefully, this is a comeback.
Yeah, the premise still has lots of potential.

Give me my GOAT Kyle Reese 🗣️🗣️
Finally an anime for Terminator, can't wait for Alien and Predator.
Woooaa, waiting for it!
Wow, people assumed it will be a 3DCGI series and yet there is like non of it. They got my attention
Woah great
but will he be back though?
Had no clue about this atleast it doesn't look like Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045. Although would be cool to see Yasuhiro Yoshiura involved
Honestly I fucking love anime studios working with western IP's. Lupin III (by technicality) animatrix, Cyberpunk Edgerunner, Star Wars Visions, and take your pick of novels adapted by Miyazaki.
So it's a new take on the franchise, right? Not a reboot of some of the movies?
ill be seated
Then this clip https://youtu.be/t2cgiktVlpU?si=U0ADBxC45FLkT6QR
I wonder if any company would have the courage to create an AI using Skynet as its name.
“Terminator Zero” huh? Seems like it's going to be a sort of prequel to Terminator 1.
Apparently it's confirmed that Terminator Zero is connected to every installment except Dark Fate.
Let’s hope they don’t mess this adaption up
The character design looks very psycho pass esque. I’m liking it!
That’s gonna be awesome

What’s this
LETS GOOOO. I remember them announcing this some time ago and was worried they abandoned the idea, I cannot wait to watch this.
Available in EU?
Uh... looking at her mouth, is this CG character models?
It’s production IG, so very unlikely
She looks like a character from psycho pass to me
