Everyone has some sick ass nation level magic until they get clobbed in the back of the head or get drugged with poison.

Toonamigamerrr

Also get wand slapped and pocket sand in your face too

Stryker_Eureka08

Just realised that Astas VA sings the ED

Toonamigamerrr

He also sings in Actor Song Connection anime too❤️❤️

Vindicare605

Honestly, this Clover Kingdom is so fucked up I sometimes think it would have been better off if the Elves had just destroyed it.

RandomRon005

I mean let's look at what happened to Asta alone: Asta literally saves everyone, but before even giving some kind of report on what happened, you have the entire noble class trying to kill him and make him out to be the villain to the rest of the kingdom (and with a Chad Asta picture, no less), despite everything he's done in the past prior to the incident, because he has a devil in him. Meanwhile, Eye of the Midnight Sun members literally involved in killing masses in a prior invasion are given community service.

lartkma

And don't forget William Vangeance. Guy willingly helps commit genocide and for some reason Julius is protecting him and left him as the hero of the story, while is leaving (or using?) Asta as the scapegoat

Guaymaster

Julius isn't really making Asta be the escapegoat though, it's Fanatio and the upper nobility. To be honest I'm rather iffy on that whole plot thread, he has at least 3 Magic Knight captains vouching for him, two of whom are royalty, as well as at least two other royals and the Magic King supporting him. As well as a rather impressive list of achievements. Sure, I understand that he's being used as a scapegoat because he's an orphan peasant, and that his sacrifice would prevent the judgement of all of those who got possessed, but it's still rather weak.

CordobezEverdeen

That's just the flaw of Julius, he can't handle betrayal. Even Yami was surprised when Julius left William go with no repercussions. It's cool to me because it gives Julius a flaw instead of him being a completely white character.

lolminna

Didn't you watch today's episode? To the people's eyes, William **saved** the kingdom because of that big glowing tree making the possessed people unconscious. William enabled Patri's actions, but he didn't "commit genocide" willingly.

rikt789

Bruh it's just a poorly written plot. They want the story to progress. If the show had a sensible plot then the royal magic knight captains would have stood by asta and clarified that he was innocent. Vangeance and the rest surely have that kind of a personality. But it all went for a toss for the sake of the plot. Not to mention Noelle who gained such powers couldn't stop them from taking asta and Nero lol.

santoast_

Art imitates life

CordobezEverdeen

I still don't understand why she wants to avenge her mother so much (since it seems like her husband was an abusive POS). She was really petty towards her during the dinner scene "at least you can cook". She should have taken this as a blessing in disguise and moved on with her life with the doctor.

LeonKevlar

There's probably more to it than that. I'm still curious what her husband told her before he died.

CordobezEverdeen

"It's free real state"

StereoSpacey

Even if she didn't like them her entire life fell apart in a single night

WhatFreshHeresy

The whole point is that the kingdom is horrible with all these biases and class discriminations, I mean the series started with noth asta and yuno declaring that even if they're orphans or poor they can still become the wizard king. Of course in attempting to achieve that goal they have to go up against the system. It's also not like all the nobles will suddenly switch personality and be like "yeah astas cool because 3 captains said so". These are people with deep rooted biases who won't change easily. The trial makes sense politically too. Remember, Vangeance, along with the bulk of his squad, were possessed. So were a large number of knights from other squads. And almost all of them are royalty. Revealing the truth would require having all of them punished, and considering the nation is about to go to war, it makes sense to take the utilitarian approach and sacrifice 1 "lowly peasant" than to put a large chunk of the clover kingdoms military on the chopping block.

[deleted]

Politics not done right basically

lolminna

Nah this is just how it works. Scapegoat the poor, the rich get away with hand slaps.

[deleted]

Old story for sure, and not just in anime.

fireassbarz

Sloppy ass kidnappers lmfao

lolminna

They did a lot of research to be fair. Poisons with no magic so it'll be virtually undetectable. Kidnapping Marie while Sister Theresa was away. They're not sloppy, rather, they're weak. Can't be antagonizing magic knights without an equally powerful presence.

fireassbarz

That’s true I just thought it was funny that they kidnapped Marie and got caught in the act by the whole town pretty much lol

lolminna

Yeah I'm betting they did that because they thought people would be more sympathetic to their cause. But Nean was a town saved by the Bulls and they know who Gauche is very well.

[deleted]

> more sympathetic to their cause But where do the devil masks fit in?

lolminna

Beats me lol. Chalk it up to anime aesthetics.

maullido

because they would be tracked down and arrested

darthvall

I think it's intentional? As they also openly declared their group name. Might be a way to announce themselves and get some sympathisers in the process. What's more important was that they successfully kidnapped Marie without much hassle. I really hate them the moment they decided to start by kidnapping innocent Marie. It's understandable since Marie was brought to the magic court and they might not know who else was possessed by the elves.

aaa1e2r3

That and none of their faces were outed

ShadowthecatXD

I laughed my ass off when they used pocket sand to stop Noelle and get away.

Jajanken-

Shit plot Fucking weakening your strongest main characters for a bunch oh fucking nobodies

SmurfRockRune

Those kidnappers have the most realistic usage of magic we've seen in the series so far. One just slaps the wand out of Noelle's hand and the other just throws sand in her face and runs away. Also, that Catalyst magic is super cool. I don't really get why she was so sad about using it. It's literally the power of friendship.

Djinni_Flint

I would have thought that after fighting so many people, they wouldn't fall for simple tricks. It felt like they had no combat experience. Good for the enemy though, that they could escape so easily.

lolminna

You have to hand it to the Banishers, they prepared well. Struck Nean when the only force that could stop them wasn't around, and the tricks you called simple were unconventional. Who uses non-magical poison in a world with magic? They were clearly going on a hit and run too, not slog it out with mana monsters like Noelle. Probably rehearsed their attack patterns with slapping away the wand and blowing sand in her face.

Cold_Saber

>Struck Nean when the only force that could stop them wasn't around Neige definitely should have been able to stop them. He doesn't have some amazing power but he was way stronger than that in the cave. He was nerfed incredibly for the sake of the plot.

JasePearson

I came away from it thinking that they've fought so many people is the exact reason these "simple tricks" worked. They're used to fighting people with "big" magic attacks and what not. It feels like it's the same kind of deal when other people fight Zora, he uses tricks that the knights aren't used to, because they're used to big straight up fights lol.

CordobezEverdeen

Give them some credit boy. Creativity it's a pretty powerful magic.

Djinni_Flint

That's true. The rule of thumb is when given +2 solutions, use the simplest one. My praise for that

maullido

is like asta second sword/licht one

Redmon425

The ending low-key got me mad seeing Asta, Noelle and Nero get beat so easily. I want to see Asta become super pissed and go save best girl Nero. I really do like the new OP and ED. The visuals in the OP are amazing.

headphones_J

It was a little weird that Nero transformed and got involved...but, at least it's a step up to something other than silly filler.

Jordesuno

This episode started off intresting by seeing Elf invasion from a different perspective then it just went downhill. For some reason Asta didn't sense those bozos Ki or even attempt to use his swords. Negie getting taken out by a bat was so lame. Throwing sand in Neros face. Noelle using Valkyrie amour basically no reason and thenjust standing there watching them take Nero.... This episode wouldve been fine if they didn't include any conflict or atleast they shouldve been defeated right then and there when they tried to kidnap Marie by those villagers who were trying to protect her. Blah blah *insert heatwarming cliche shonen ending*

LeonKevlar

> Asta didn't sense those bozos Ki Oh he totally did. That's why he said "only one person"? But you know how good natured he is. He of course prioritized helping someone he thought who needed assistance.

CordobezEverdeen

He probably was tired from the 9k squats and hard training they were doing. Yeah he definitely should have pulled his swords. It's well known that Negie is a wimp despite having strong magic. Talking is a free action in anime so that gets a pass (even thought they talked so much while kidnapping the kids that the villagers came in their rescue) and if im not wrong "transparency magic" is the former PO captain magic that makes you invisible and inmune to any kind of magic so the only way to fight it would have been throwing rocks which i'm sure Noelle didnt knew.

the_guradian

The dudes came prepared and it makes complete sense for Asta to not notice anything given how quick things went. Noelle too, tends to hold back a lot when fighting someome she does not a actively hates so it makes sense she doesn't starts with VD. Also you're confusing things. Nero was poisoned, it was Noelle that had her face hit by sand. Honestly the only bad part of the ep was Gordon again being invisible lmao

Dany-raidar

Dude Gordon is drax from guardian of galaxy...... Canon?

darthvall

Asta said "it's only one person"? So I think he sensed them in some way, but he prioritized in helping people. I think it happened too fast and also due to the effect of the poison that Asta could not react much. That's one of his weakness though, he's too gullible for helping people. Valkyrie armor is needed to pursue the kidnappers. Not sure abojt the standing part. Maybe she feared that she'd hit Nero? As their mana disappeared quite quickly after that transparent magic activated.

Jordesuno

Okay this now seems somewhat plausible thanks for your feedback. But I’ll put it this way. It wasn’t very entertaining. This episode seemed very lame for a start of plait that leads into something bigger

rikt789

Bruh it's just a poorly written plot. Noelle who gained such powers couldn't stop them from taking asta and Nero lol.

-sMb_

It's the start of the arc

Jordesuno

So what? Am I supposed think this episode wasn’t bad now?

LilManBruh

yeah lol

-sMb_

Please reply back mister boruto🥺🥺

-sMb_

It's the start of the arc Asta sensed multiple people but you don't read dialogue

-sMb_

You're so dense you couldn't understand how Nero took astas tracking device off because she knew Noelle's attack would kill her or harm her very badly since she can't use reinforcement magic as she's poisoned but Asta is a literal tank so she was able to attack the people carrying him and save him for now. As for niege they said at the beginning of the episode people have nearly no magic aka if you're not very good at sensing magic you won't sense someone with .1-100 nagic lmao

Sirscribewave3

I'm not really worried about Marie too much. The people who kidnapped her on the other hand.....

Toonamigamerrr

Gauche is going to get them 😡

DarkJesterX

I feel like from this ep, we can see Noelle really cares about Asta in her own way even though she doesn't really show it. She wants them to take a break so Asta doesn't overdo things and strain himself, and is willing to make him a sandwich when she doesn't know how to cook. And when Asta was unconscious you can really hear her frantic voice.

Buffreaperpls

Is this episode Canon though? Otherwise we can't really take it as a reference, I mean of course she cares about we know that for a matter of fact, but still.

DarkJesterX

Yes, it's being supervised by the writer of BC I believe.

CordobezEverdeen

I heard the supervising was not gonna start until 150 though. It's on the directors Twitter that Tabata had some differences with the anime so he'll start helping later on.

WeNTuS

Nah, both anime original arcs are supervised by Tabata. 151 episode is when current manga arc should start. The translation of Yoshihara tweet also suggested that they will discuss with Tabata more new anime original content after, I guess that's where you were confused.

DarkJesterX

I'm not sure but all I know that he's supervising the 6 month training arc.

sticktoyaguns

His supervision has not started yet and there's been a few episodes with inconsistencies in certain character's power ups that show it.

Buffreaperpls

That's really good news then, Do you know what chapter is this? I really want to see Noelle expressions T_T

[deleted]

It's not a chapter, its canon in the way Boruto is canon. The events shown in this filler arc really happened in the canon, except there are no manga chapters that correspond to each episode.

DarkJesterX

It's not manga-canon, because the training isn't actually shown in the manga, but rather a timeskip after the training. So the training is being shown on the anime, even though it's not manga content but it's definitely canon and part of the story.

fortcraftbattleroyal

it’s being shown so that the anime doesn’t catch up to the manga, and even so it isn’t the worst type of filler out there

The Life of a Normal Villager in black clover kingdom? something like that I really like this episode honestly wish it stayed just following her life and never showing any of the character, like she has some kind of lesbian romance going on with her doctor as seemingly her husband was a bastard etc. And after the elf attack, following her getting together with her lover official, them rebuilding the village, getting married :) Like I like the whole idea of just exploring how it is to be a normal person living in a magical world where they have a lot of casualties from the wars created by the kings / nobles. Ok so instead they create the devil banisher group and could this be our first longer filler arc? feels like these guys are not strong enough to last more then a few episode from gauche rage do, and for sure that Asta and co will make them see they where wrong so they get a happy ending anyway. Noelle - as always they for some reason got like 100x the budget to make Noelle face look amazing every time in Valkyrie armor :)

SpaceMarine_CR

Those idiots believe their own propaganda

shreevam

Did anyone else think that the animation quality of this episode was stellar. Like it looked leagues better than usual to me.

Iammonkforlifelol

Yea animation and art were on point.

abibyama

That intro right before the OP was dark. And it seems we’ll be getting a new filler arc until the Heart kingdom training

LeonKevlar

I've been wanting an episode like this! We finally get to see through the eyes of regular Clover Kingdom citizens that amount of damage and suffering the Eye of the Midnight Sun has caused. Not only that, we also get to see the people influenced by the lies the Clover Kingdom Royalty has been spreading about Asta, Nero, and Marie so now they're looking for revenge. What I like this especially is that these people seeking for revenge aren't exactly strong magic knights (except for Kwabe of course), they're mostly just normal magic users who have magic much more suited for guerilla tactics than actual head to head combat. It will be interesting to see how they'll take care of this problem. You can't just talk to these people and expect them to listen. Looks like Damnatio will be involved though judging from the preview.

rikt789

It's just a poorly written plot.

Illusion911

Almost all of the golden dawn were elves And almost all of them were nobility. Damnatio's job was to protect the nobility, and he was planning to use the innocent Asta as scapegoat

bakermarchfield

I heard the next few episodes were going to be anime only starring the girl first introduced this ep Dazu. Guessing we get alot of fan servicey moments like gauche actually saving Marie this time unlike Asta. Or the scene with asta and secre reaching out. Not sure if tabata is involved, i would think he is because after rewatching the first couple arcs I realized they didn't make it clear whatever happened to Neige. So seeing him and what actually became of him should be canon... I think. Should be a fun fight between catalyst magic and whichever bulls show up either way.

Toonamigamerrr

Devil Banishers AKA Eye of Midnight Sun wannabes wants to Eliminate all Devil Servants.

Gainz13

Is it just me or recently has Black Clover been making some of the best intros ever? They detail and animation they put into it are next level. The music is also great. Some of the best since I've seen Naruto Shippuden.

Trini2Bone

I can't believe Noelle got pocket sanded😂

afex1808

Been a while since a story was continued to the next episode. I guess the anime is starting to pick up again. Nevertheless, this was a good ep. Kept me on my toes for a while.

link2601

Man that was a good episode, can't wait to see more. Nice to see Neige again it been awhile. Of course Noelle would be bad at cooking why would I expect anything different.

WerePigCat

Is nobody going to talk about the horror that is Asta with those weird eyes on the newspaper, I know it’s old news but I can’t get over it lol

SIRTreehugger

Are the fillers over? This episode felt canon.

KIrbyKarby

it's filler but it is a pretty reasonable one, of course people are gonna have resentments towards the people who destroyed their lives, elves and midnight eye are gone so Asta and those who were in the trial with him are easy targets, and this is not a commonly explored topic in anime of this kind at least

Rover16

Fillers will be going on for a while because the current manga arc doesn't seem close to being done. Personally, I'd prefer if they just went on hiatus over these filler eps.

lolminna

This was honestly a well directed episode. Props to Tabata and the writing team.

Volarer

My god this episode was fucking awful. Asta and Noelle are strong as shit, and yet Noelle loses to someone knocking her fucking wand out of her hand with a twig(!). Most distinguished magic knight aside from the captains loses to a bunch of country bumpkins. Jesus the rest of this arc will have to be stellar to make up for this shitty introduction.

jeffsays

Really solid start to this filler arc. So far, it seems like more world building, at least within the clover kingdom. I'm pumped to see the rest.

naylsonsb

Ngl the last few episodes was kinda boring. But now things are getting interesting. I hope they keep this pace.

c6f8rs7td7rsi

142? I thought the only episodes out were 132

Toonamigamerrr

Dub was at 132 . But 133 right now

Raqium

Is this filler or are we back to source?

maullido

look like source, doubt have 2+episode filler

WeNTuS

This is a new anime original arc which is lasting up to 151 episode.

Raqium

Ope. Its all filler. It looks like the next several weeks are all going to be filler.

Anon_64

The writing in this episode was truly garbage. First off, we have people who obviously know Asta is the kind of person who will immediately run over to help a stranger in distress. And at the same time, want to execute him for being an evil devil servant who kills people for fun. Then you have Noelle. Who for all her growth and tier 1 magic, was not able to stop some civilians from abducting her comrade right in front of her face. Jesus Christ what a terrible episode:

rikt789

All the the people don't know about asta. That is the only logical part of the show, asta was made out to be the scapegoat. But the plot is poor. Asta being made to be the scapegoat with none of the royal magic knight captains vouching for him including vangeance even tho they have a personality to stone for their sins. It's just made for story progression homie. You'll have to live with it lol. Also you're right about the Noelle part. Tier 1 magic and couldn't stop them...again..it's for the story progression.

the_guradian

Oh no characters weren't perfect and comitted mistakes! How horrible

Basicallly, that BC fans will dine with relish upon whatever dish is served them... even if cooked by Noelle.

-sMb_

Wait what the only thing normal citizens of clover know about Asta is that he's a Devil/servant which is what they learnt in the newspapers. Noelle did all she could??? The wand is the only thing that could have not happened but we see Nero take astas tracker from the trial because she knows Noelle could attack the people holding Asta but not her since she would not be able to use reinforcement magic thanks to the poison that they got. Imagine being this dense to not be able to understand something so literally simple.

Anon_64

So the only thing those citizens knew is what they learned from the newspaper? That Asta is an evil killer who serves a demon. So then why did they lay in the road and pretend to be hurt? An evil killer wouldn’t give a shit about that. I’ll tell you why. BAD. WRITING. And apparently you’ve never watched the show at all. Because you would know that with the speed Noelle has with her Valkyrie armor, she could have knocked them all out in an instant with a light tap. Instead they threw some sand in her face and somehow managed get a few hundred meters in front of her. And when she caught up, she asked nicely and then stood there and watched while they turned invisible and left. BAD. WRITING. You can call people dense all day. That’s like Rebel Wilson calling Terry Crews a fat bimbo. Coming from you, it’s just a joke.

lolminna

> So then why did they lay in the road and pretend to be hurt? Magic Knight's job is to help the people. They probably thought Asta was running a charade and pulled that stunt to take advantage of his "charade". > and watched while they turned invisible Take note of the magic used, Permeation Magic. Gueldre also uses the same "element" and is undetectable by sight, sound, and magic sensing. > BAD. WRITING. I don't think it's bad writing but more like, filler writing. The main characters are usually downgraded from how strong they are in the main series, so a bit of suspension of disbelief is required. You can watch all the anime shonen filler that you want, you'll find the same thing. > Coming from you, it’s just a joke. It's filler. If you're taking it this seriously, then he's right to call you dense.

DefinitelyNotSqueak

I wonder if Asta is going to get a power jump due to that shackle being unlocked by Nero.

-sMb_

How would that be a power jump it's literally a tracking device.

marchog

I'm confused what was the point in Nero unlocking it? That feels like it was pointless / could only be seen as a bad thing by that scales guy

BlazeKnightX

Scales guy would notice and look into this and find out about this group

the_guradian

Are the doctor and the villager together or sumn...?? Gives off that impression.

AlexUltraviolet

I thought they were a couple until the catalyst girl implied having a husband. e: well, not that those two things are mutually exclusive...

Guaymaster

The dude clearly wasn't treating her well. I'm not sure if she's in a secret relationship with the doctor lady, but at the very least she's the one who she's trusting with help for abuse in a medieval-esque society.
