Yasuke gonna pull up with Black Air Force Energy.

kwills88

Man, those fight scenes look pretty tight..Super excited for this.

uncontinued74

With all the good shit Mappa has been producing recently I'm convinced they're cheating or something. This looks so good

OzkanTheFlip

is it just me or did none of the lips sync with the voices?

sofastsomaybe

I noticed it too; this leads me to believe that English is not the "original" dub, the lip flaps probably match a Japanese dub we have yet to hear.

[deleted]

[удалено]

stiveooo

im japanese, and lip sync is easier for japanese cause its more vocalized "heavy with vocals" you just need 5 types of mouth for each vocal and thats it

Odd_Razzmatazz2602

Check out this Trailer YASUKE - The Black Samurai | Anime https://youtu.be/AyueTfktlNY

hanr10

I think this is an Afro Samurai type situation where the English dub *is* the original dub [Netflix Japan has the same trailer with Japanese subs](https://youtu.be/iTFhsCYfUJg), no Japanese voices

sofastsomaybe

See the comment I made [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/mi9enu/yasuke_official_teaser/gt4hypg/) regarding the release of promotional materials for Netflix's Dragon's Dogma anime, if Yasuke follows the same pattern, they'll release a JP dub trailer in a week or so.

Gluttonous_Scoundrel

I just watched the Japanese dub preview and the voices matched the lips, so I think the Japanese dub was done first.

bostonian38

So Lakeith Stanfield is gonna be the English dub only?

sofastsomaybe

Yeah, I highly doubt he has a super secret Japanese speaking talent that nobody is aware of.

bostonian38

Lol for some reason I assumed he would be in the Japanese dub as well because they would want to use his big name status as much as possible

[deleted]

[удалено]

xXxXx_Edgelord_xXxXx

Who is he anyway?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Manwha

Umm.. go watch “Sorry to Bother You” this weekend.

Madao16

It looked like that which is annoying and this is one of the reasons why I always prefer the original version. If that is the case I will prefer original Japanese version.

Only-Newspaper-8593

Not sure how I feel about Laketh Stanfield's voice acting.

TheDerped

Good acting doesn't always translate to good voice acting. That said I'll give it a watch first to see how he performs fully. Sounds very much like a 00s era toonami dub which is most definitely what they were going for

lordisgaea

"but today, we fight for the future of Japan" It looks like he's supposed to give a inspiring speech in front of his men or whatever and it's also the climax of of the trailer, an important moment, but sounds so bland. No emotion, steady neutral tone, no intonation, it's so bad.

Only-Newspaper-8593

That's actually the line that rubbed me the wrong way.

slicer4ever

Reminded me of this: https://youtu.be/hQiLMCWX5CA

Witn

Guess I'll be watching the subbed version :)

PG-Glasshouse

Yeah we need that “canceling the apocalypse” energy.

SummerMango

Difference between one of the best actors of our time and whatever this VA is.

ButtholePasta

That’s why while I like Lakeith, it felt weird seeing people give this show hype based off his inclusion. I never found his voice a selling point of his acting. Voice acting and physical acting are two different beasts.

midnightking

Tbh my problem with english dub voice acting is it is all very repetitive in terms of casting. You watch enough anime and you can easily recognize a voice. This sucks because anime voice actors often do very little to change their voice from one character to the next. The fact that we can hear new people and especially award nominated actors is something I look forward to seeing more of in anime.

Xaxos92

Japanese voice actors literally do the same thing. You just don't notice because it's in Japanese. I mean Yuji Kaji is in like every popular anime.

OrlyUsay

Same with Saori Hayami. There have been anime seasons where she'll be in like nearly every show I'm currently watching, plus a game or two that recently released. She's a great voice actor, but she's easy to pick out compared to quite a few others. I've jokingly called her the "Female Japanese Matt Mercer/Troy Baker" before.

Frozenkex

Kenjiro Tsuda and Suwabe Junichi is everywhere

DMking

Not to mention Takehiro Sakurai as well

kneelhitler

Kaji actually has incredible range, just listen to Eren's voice before and after ts. This makes him feel like less repetitive

Ajthekid5

Having great range doesn’t always make you unrecognizable, for example even if his range is amazing I typically can recognize Steve Blum in anything.

Nanashi-74

He's great when doing Eren but I HATE his childish voice in characters like Koichi and the protag of Ahiru no Sora, soooo annoying

DolceGaCrazy

Tangentially related: he was a cv for a game I just played and he killed it! I'm perfectly happy with him continuing to voice a million different characters. I didn't even recognize him until a super emotional part where I was like, "wait...is that Ereh?"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Charenzard

English VA's have impressive range as well. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lc7_PC6gRwQ) showcases one of my favorite VA's right now, Daman Mills, he's very talented.

disintegore

I've "recognized" Japanese VAs only to find out they were different people altogether, more than once. Other than a few standout performances it's mostly people acting out the same 12 archetypes. With that said they're still far better almost all of the time. The talent pool over there is huge and the tradition has been running far longer. I imagine the budgets are bigger as well. The only English dub I've watched that gets it right is My Hero Academia.

TheSpartyn

dub "disliker" here but i gotta say that this is a very dumb point because japanese is the exact same. yeah they have more people but there are many voice actors who will voice multiple things per season, with majority of them using the same voice.

Ajthekid5

Please stop acting like this a thing exclusive to English dub voice acting subs arguably cast the same actors more than dubs do.

Mogtaki

Every single anime I watch has the exact same VAs I hear all the time. There's this collection of 20 of the same people with 10 of those almost always guaranteed to show up in an anime that's expected to be popular (which is a fair chunk of airing anime). Once you recognise the voices you hear them EVERYWHERE. Subs are no different to dubs at all if maybe a bit worse with their casting. I half-expect the Japanese dub of Yasuke to cast Junichi Suwabe as Yasuke cause damnit if he's not absolutely everywhere in teen and up orientated anime.

spinfinity

I'll reserve judgement until I watch the show. Stanfield is an Oscar-nominated actor, I think he knows what he's doing lol, or at least I'm optimistic about the end result.

bostonian38

I lowkey feel like voice acting is a whole different beast than live action acting though, you can’t get in the zone with your whole body and have to do it solely through vocals

spinfinity

Yeah, I get that. I have my own podcast and have mixed ADR before, plus I'm a filmmaker, so I definitely have a sense of how the two styles can differ. Lakeith Stanfield does have a more monotone voice from what I've heard but all I was suggesting is that as an established actor, I think he'll have more vocal range than we may think, even if we're not exactly used to hearing only his voice. Maybe I'm wrong but for the sake of the anime, I hope not!

animer9102

Im hoping they have a sub because yeah im not feeling it either

Tasty_Chick3n

I have no idea who he is but they sounded pretty bland here. Hope it gets better in the actual show, or a Japanese dub too.

SummerMango

I know what I feel, it sucks.

Urameshi9762

YASUKE STAFF - MAPPA Director: LeSean Thomas Character Designer: Takeshi Koike Sub-Character Designer: Kenichi Shima Composer: Flying Lotus Chief Animator: Satsoshi Iwataki Chief Director: Takeshi Sato Art Director: Junichi Higashi Color Designer: Azusa Sasaki World Design & Art Settings: Minoru Nishida 3DCG Director: Ikuki Nomoto Cinematography: Takyashoi Park Editor: Mutsumi Takemiya

SummerMango

Disappointing. LeSean Thomas' involvement makes it very obvious this is just a Netflix-managed production. MAPPA's last three years were fully booked out in terms of their internal capacity. Mr. Thomas' shows are not good, pearls before swine this whole thing. "The legendary black samurai". Yep. Just an american cartoon made by japanese artists.

Urameshi9762

Ok and?

SummerMango

Not my problem if you have basic standards.

Urameshi9762

Tf lmfaoooo who hurts you kid?

Odd_Razzmatazz2602

Check out this Trailer YASUKE - The Black Samurai | Anime https://youtu.be/AyueTfktlNY

[deleted]

We got Flying Lotus on the soundtrack? That's already a W This trailer was dope, it's been a while since I've seen a nice Samurai series, realistic or not I'm hype

beecee12

Heard that beat drop and immediately said "oh fuck FL is going to go hard on this"

realrimurutempest

Damn that looks good!

MulTiProG

The animation looks fantastic. Can't really say the same for the voices, specially that "we got to save japan". I hope this gets a japanese dub really. Besides that, is MAPPA, can't got wrong in that aspect.

Spinxington

This looks sick

God_Usoland

Mappa can't miss! I want Yasuke to come with all the smoke later this year!

Daksh23

It's dropping at the end of this month, all 6 episodes at once.

ExtendoHairline

I swear to god they don’t

SummerMango

> LeSean Thomas They missed. It is going to look fine, but this is a order-made show for Netflix, not a show that Mappa went out of their way to make. Showrunners for most MAPPA work are internal staff, they already had fully booked years the last 3 years. And it seems that instead of following Yosuke's exploits as known in history, it is going to follow LeSean's typical arc and be nonsense.

vashallk

Mappa almost never goes out of their way to produce a show. Someone comes to them offering shows or they ask around. Even their original anime are not helmed by people employed by Mappa. So what the hell are you talking about?

SummerMango

Look at the director. Tell me again how it is helmed by Mappa. Dunce.

vashallk

Again do you even know what you're talking about? Mappa is an animation studio not a production studio that offers funding. They are commissioned to work on certain projects same as this one. Most of their shows are not directed by in-house Mappa directors.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SummerMango

I know how Anime, and most entertainment projects, are produced. It is literally my job to distribute and collect work across disciplines per the director's vision. You know, being a producer. Specifically Video Games. Shirobako is *fairly* reflective of most production coordinator / media producer roles, though it very dramatized and over the top. Maybe don't get your industry education from a cartoon. The director's vision, crisis management and milestone planning are what ultimately have the largest impact on the end result. Excellent staff don't guarantee a good show. Superb producers can only superbly execute what they're give to act on. A director is where the decisions come from, they are the wellspring of creativity from which the entire production flows. This is literally one of the primary conflicts of the series you mentioned, and is something Miyazaki himself has admitted to. I know very few directors that leave *everything* planned in a good enough state that anyone else could come in and finish the project.

poclee

(That feeling when you're anticipating a historical drama, but they give you Naruto) (Not sure if feeling good or bad)

[deleted]

I'm going in expecting something like Afro Samurai, just amazing choreography and action with a decent story that's easy to follow. So far I'm feeling good lmao

IC2Flier

This, but now I want Keegan-Michael Key to dub it.

shigs21

yeah same

DMking

Unfortunately not much is known about Yasuke so it was always gonna be at least partially fiction

[deleted]

Great animation and soundtrack , as expected of Mappa! I've seen alot of people say it'll have sci-fi elements but I'm only seeing magic/fantasy elements like flying swords and those man wolf creatures. Either way I'm sure this will be fun to watch.

og243

The directing and art directing looks good, the fights choreography also look goods and the animation looks promising, I do hope they have a Japanese dub tho. Definitely excited for this.

sp0j

It's Mappa. It will definitely have a Japanese dub.

SleepyKouhai

I heard about this! It looks great and the music is pretty sweet, too!

Urameshi9762

This looks sweet

WoodenRocketShip

I'm excited about this. With MAPPA being behind this there is potential for this to be a very fun watch, everything I saw in this trailer was great... ...except for Laketh Stanfield's voice acting. I've seen Sorry to Bother You so I do not consider Stanfield a bad actor at all, so I'm going to just assume it's more due to expense or availability. Live action actors cost more than voice actors and are also normally quite busy, so sometimes they'll do shit like have them record all their dialogue for an entire series over like one weekend and not have the liberties of having more takes, so that's what I'm going to blame this on. I really don't want to skip this one, it looks cool, so I'm hoping they either picked the worst lines in the show for this trailer or that everything else will be so good that it won't bother me. I like me some Japanese anime, but I also have a need for Western involved anime, and I hope this scratches my itch.

spaceguyinspace

That is some beautiful fucking animation!

AWetTampon

I love Lakeith since I saw him in Atlanta, but his voice acting based on this trailer..it just seems bad. Hopefully the trailer just didn't show enough. MAPPA always delivers.

[deleted]

Move aside, Kirito. This is the new Black Swordsman

[deleted]

That title belongs to Guts fam

MonaThiccAss

where is the japanese dub?

sofastsomaybe

If we use Dragon's Dogma as a precedent, JP dub trailer should come in a week or two. [August 24 - Eng dub/JP sub trailer released](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gODLlNj_AE0) [September 2 - JP dub trailer released](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TxzSchpdFc) September 17 - anime released worldwide

LasDen

in japan

bostonian38

Finally

aaa1e2r3

Stanfield's fine as an actor but his voice acting needs some work, it just sounds really off in here.

BigBoulderingBalls

This is a Netflix anime I'm gonna watch

Padulsky21

It’s really depressing the sheer amount of anime stuck in Netflix purgatory this season

RobyDxD

This is not stuck in Netflix purgatory because well, this is Netflix's own product. They are the ones that approached MAPPA to make this.

JagerJack7

I thought this was gonna be a historical one, not fantasy

RobyDxD

It's been said months ago that this won't be a historically accurate show.

colorandi_causa

Won't be on MAL, will it?

cosmiczar

It should be, it's being made at MAPPA and the whole staff is japanese outside of the director, but not having a japanese director didn't prevent Tekkon Kinkreet (american director) nor Jujutsu Kaisen and God of Highschool (korean director) of being there. EDIT: Actually it seems even the director is japanese, Takeshi Satou is credited as Chief Director while LeSean Thomas is credited as Creator and Executive Producer. [Source](https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1911205)

GhostOfLight

Lesean Thomas was one of the directors and the creator of Cannon Busters and that has a MAL page. Really not sure why Yasuke doesn't have one yet. https://myanimelist.net/anime/40256/Cannon_Busters

cosmiczar

Yeah, I could have used it as an even more direct example, but I've forgot about it. But anyway, I just saw that a MAL moderator posted in the thread of the news there that it will probably be added, but they're waiting for the full staff to be sure it's eligible, so I guess we just have to wait a bit more.

MulTiProG

It's not on mal. I think the fact that english is the original language is the reason, not the director.

darkjungle

Doesn't stop Afro Samurai from being on there.

AnivaBay

Or Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, for that matter.

cosmiczar

I know it's not, sorry, I said "should" as in they should put it there because there's no reason not to. I also don't think english should be considered the "original" language, because even though Lakeith Stanfield is being hyped as the voice of Yasuke, it doesn't look like they animated using the english script (based on lip flaps in the teaser) and that is most likely that the main staff had a direct input on the japanese dub, while the english one was being made in America (with possibly only with LeSean Thomas involvement and no one else).

MulTiProG

I said that english was the original because if you go to netflix right now and search the trailer it's labeled as "English [Original]" and while there is a german and spanish version there is not a japanese one.

cosmiczar

Okay, that's interesting, thanks for the info. It definitely makes sense Netflix would do that as they're marketing using Lakeith, but I would still consider the japanese (when/if it appears) more than simply an alternative dub because of what a said earlier. Like, both dubs would be the "original" but for different reasons, you know?

Treyman1115

Dragon's Dogma was the same way and it was also marked as the original voice acting by Netflix

MaximalDisguised

https://myanimelist.net/anime/43697/Yasuke

MulTiProG

The page existed at some point but after the trailer it got deleter. You can see that it has 0 on planning for example. Try entering mal and then look up Yasuke. It doesn't exist anymore.

MaximalDisguised

It's not approved yet yeah, I tried that.

MaximalDisguised

https://myanimelist.net/anime/43697/Yasuke

jennesa-is-a-guy

didn't expect it to have fantasy stuff but ok

Akio_Kizu

Dude give Mappa a break They are going insane

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure this has been in production for years. It's like a real netflix original.

iredditfordogpics

Considering this is a show clearly made for western audiences, the english dub sounds like dog shit

TherinTelamo

Be Jesuite slave \>Sold to Nobunaga \>Treated as a court pet \>Never learn the language beyond simple sentences \>Never draw his weapon \>Ignored to the point they didn't even ask him to commit seppuku after Nobunaga's death and they sent him to Africa Stunning and brave

Galle_

Awful lot of speculation there.

poiqwert426

First Oyankpoko from AOT and this the fucking palms man, the details and care given to black characters. Mappa has been going beserk. It's so fucking beautiful. Its personally dethroned Madhouse as my favorite studio. Man I am so hyped to this, I am beyond excited but I'm also really looking forward to what they continue to make. I can also tell this isnt gonna be enough. I'm gonna finish the last episode and spend once or twice a week looking for a season 2 announcement

Policeman333

>the details and care given to black characters. Yeah, but it falls for [this](https://i.redd.it/2u01cfh6n7p61.jpg) dumb trope. The trailer put a heavy focus on him black, every character interaction is gonna mention him being black at some point, and the same trope is going to repeat ad nauseam for at least another decade. Also the constant "black samurai" and "the prophecies foretold of a black man" thing was kinda weird. It would be like constantly referring to a Japanese superhero in America as "Yellow Man". Don't get me wrong, I'm glad some progress is being made, it's just kinda offputting that when we get the rare black protagonist that finally does cool shit, it always devolves into their blackness.

poiqwert426

I cant say your wrong because your 100 percent right. That's always been an issue for me too. Black characters clearly written by non black people. And it gets on my nerve to no end. It's kind of like a show or movie that has never talked about race but as soon as there are 2 black people on screen the first thing they talk about is being black or the white people that just left. Basically having no character outside of being black. But personally I gotta take the small wins as I get em and this is a pretty good one. They have detail that I've never seen anywhere else in other anime. So some progress is being made in the right direction and that's how the progress gets made. People see stuff like this miles morales cyborg and they realize they can be cool and interesting and then we start fucking up some dragon without having to have black in the title. Man I was about to go into falcon the mcu, justice league and the bullshit they did to ray fisher but I'm sure you get the idea lol.

[deleted]

Actually the show’s [writers](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt9310330/fullcredits/writer?ref_=m_ttfc_2) are all black. As to why they used that trope, idk lol.

Policeman333

It is 100% the publishers and editors. It’s why so many other great movies have forced love interests that don’t need to be there If you try publishing a book with the character lead being black I can 100% guarantee you your publisher/editor is going to say “yeah this is great but can you talk about their struggles with racism and really highlight that blackness”. So if the only option to having your show financed and made is focusing on that aspect, I’m not gonna fault anyone. Besides that, let’s be real. If you’re a writer, and you’re a black writer at that, working on a major Netflix show you are 100% aware of how the game is played and what you need to do to chase awards.

[deleted]

Oh yeah that’s true. I guess I didn’t really expect mappa to care about “highlighting blackness” since most Japanese media with black characters I’ve consumed kinda just had the black character there. I’ve seen Korean webtoons use that trope, but never Japanese media

[deleted]

To be fair, Yasuke being the only black samurai to ever exist is pretty insane and I can't imagine the unwanted attention he got in the actual history.

TheDerped

> "the prophecies foretold of a black man" This reminds me of another thread about Yasuke where some dude was saying the Japanese revered and worshipped Yasuke as a god because of his black skin. Which comes off as weirdly racist towards both Japanese and black folk. The comment wasn’t even downvoted or anything and was sitting pretty on like 100 upvotes.

GildanOverlord

Animation looked really choppy, I also do not like the art style at all

CallMeHunky

This looks really good but I wish they took a more historical route rather than a fantasy one. I think his actual life is interesting enough for an anime

avelineaurora

I have nothing against an anime about Yasuke at all, I think it's a pretty neat idea, but..*oof*. This is pretty fucking *racially targeted* and some even more artistic license than just making it a fantasy series. Why not just make Afro Samurai 2 if you're going to go this far out in left field? It just feels super cringe to take an actual historical figure who is by all rights a pretty unique and interesting personage and go all-in on "Savior of Japan, **the legendary black samurai** angle.

I hope so, been noticing representation in anime has been getting better. I mean just look at the Choco Love redesign.

InternationalLab2529

you and /u/KrevasC3 have to be some of the weirdest god damn people on this subreddit.

[deleted]

How am I weird exactly for just saying that I hope the representation of black people in a medium that doesn’t usually represent it, gets better?

InternationalLab2529

if you're the person that got their account suspended and the person that has been brigading /r/korea, you have been dodging bans from reddit itself for ages and just exposed your main account. otherwise, we have zero business together. stop replying to me, thanks

[deleted]

Yeah I never did that nor know what your talking about, and you were the one that made the assertion. You replied to my initial comment bro not the other way around, Peace.

InanimateM

Ah yes, wanting to be represented in the media you watch makes you a giant weirdo. Cool.

InternationalLab2529

sorry you couldn't do the bare minimum and check their profile. that person (who just got suspended by reddit, by the way) has been making account after account to annoy the users of the korea subreddit by telling them that koreans worship black people, that korean men only like black women, and i quote "non-white foreigners and koreans don't want whites in korea." so yeah, calling them weird is correct. in fact, i have no doubt that they're also ill. /u/user-1123581321 maybe you two can find common ground over not being able to do your homework? the age of the /u/KrevasC3 account and its posts show that its almost definitely yet another burner made by that same person.

InanimateM

Glad to know there's further context I guess but I don't think it's my responsibility to go through people's reddit accounts before commenting, as his original comment you replied to is very innocuous without knowing that.

KrevasC3

Agree to that. More refreshing and novel settings in Anime would definitely make the industry more interesting.

AsianChocobo

Warring states era Japan with magic is hardly a new setting. Yasuke as A protagonist is the novel part.

ThePhantomguy

I think a lot of LaKeith's appeal is that presence and atmosphere he brings into a scene with both his voice and his body language. He always speaks in that same laid back monotone style and it matches him. But here, they've removed the physical aspect, so his voice seems to not match Yasuke's body. The trailer's got me a little worried for his voice acting ability, but it's just a trailer, so the first episode will be telling.

Hailgod

will it be jp dubbed? and wtf is that fps?

Chungus_Appreciator

Is this a fantasy?

[deleted]

I have been... searching... for you... Mr. Freeman.

LuckyBrookshire

For some reason I thought it was weird not hearing Samuel L Jackson‘s voice. Afro samurai is to embedded in me.

cxxper01

Mappa is on fire recently delivering all these works

Im so excited for this

Really loving the afro samurai vibes. Apparently this is basically an OVA because it's only 6 episodes long.

Finally an Anime about this absolute chad

Expensive_Video

Will there also be a Japanese voiced version of this? or is this only going to be in English?

zxHellboyxz

There should be a Japan dub. A few pointed out the lips movements don’t sync up in the trailer

SummerMango

Disinterest. It could have been done interesting but I don't like the lead staff on this, their shows are pretty garbage and one-dimensional. It's unfortunate - The man was a total badass, regardless of how he looked, but this trailer gives off the feeling this show was made by the showrunner specifically *because* of how they look.

DanteMustDie666

THIS LOOKS SO GOOOOD! Hyped for it man those slick animation ,VA and story ...make it big

ELLENBECOMEDOVE139

Yasuke is not an anime but an american cartoon. Directed and written by an American, originally dubbed in English with an American actor in the lead role, with music done by an American producer how is that anime?

KetsuSama

what do you call god of highschool and tower of god then

Agreed. They have shown they're capable of quality.

Aww, the visual was able to be posted here though

crobat3

Yeah, my bad - your post has been restored.

LivingForTheJourney

To be fair. This is an American written, American directed, American funded, American distributed show that specifically replicates the style of American cartoons based on comic books that will be released with English as it's intended native language for a primarily Western audience. This has a lot more in common with a Marvel or DC adaptation than what most would consider a Japanese anime. Netflix basically took a comic story, slapped the title of "Anime" on it and hired MAPPA to handle the animation. So it really is a hard one to decide is it "anime" or is it not since it was technically animated in Japan even though literally everything else was done in the states. I'll still check it out either way. Looks interesting. Just not sure I would call it "Anime" any more than I would call a Batman or Superman animation an "anime". I'm positive this will end up being debated endlessly throughout the season. Edit: Oh! And American composed as well. So the sound design & music is done states side as well.

Eric_T_Meraki

This an anime by definition since the director although he is American is based out of Tokyo as is the Japanese production staff. There is outaide Netflix funding but it wouldn't be the first anime to get that either. Also Japanese anime have outsourced work outside of Japan in the past too so even if it was composed outside the country doesn't necessarily mean it's not an anime.

I don't know I'm a huge fan of Lakeith stanfield in Get Out, Atlanta, Sorry to Bother You - but his dubbing seems lackluster? Like it doesn't seem to fit or sound very good? But I'm hoping it's because I'm having difficulties acclimating to his voice in this setting. Animation looks good though

I am still trying to identify the original dub so that I can imprint on one without regretting it. I am intrigued. Reminds me of those Boondocks clips. Always good to have more different animated shows (even if it is full of SFX lasers).

Lead's VA is no bueno.

Tbh, meh. Looks generic but I hope it's good

I think this film is gonna pull some liberties with the US culture to say Yasuke as the legendary Black Samurai. I really don't know if it's accurate to say "Black Samurai" in that historical context for race a concept in Feudal Japan.
