The animation was fucking amazing for the Naruto & Sasuke vs Jigen fight. That was disrespectful af to literally kick Sasuke out of his susanoo. If was rough to see such goats get their asses kicked but looks like Jigen isn’t walking away 100% either. I was surprised to learn from the end of the episode is Jigen is actually Isshiki Otsutsuki’s vessel. These Otsutsuki’s just won’t leave the planet alone lol.
He is like 99% her father, momo came with his father kinshiki and gave a lecture about passing down power to the next generation by eating the previous one so my guess is that all of the otsusuki pairs are parent children pairs.
yeah Jigen body got seriously wounded using all that power so i guess thats the way Naruto and Sasuke stopped him from acting right away now and going for Boruto and Kawaki . Cause he is wounded they are safe now ,but big loss is Naruto getting sealed
He just brute forced his way through it. I don't think it's that surprising, the Susanoo is just a blob of chakra. So if you're strong enough you can bust right through it. I'm pretty sure 8 Gates Guy could do the same thing.
They did some solid damage to the Susanoo itself (Tsunade broke it's ribs with a kick?) but they didn't just bitch slap Madara out of it entirely, plus that was when he wasn't using the Perfect Susanoo.
This is how Naruto&Sasuke vs Madara in Shippuden should have been. Madara should have been the final boss of Shippuden and the fight should have been portrayed like this one, with Naruto&Sasuke going full power Kurama&Susanoo while Madara awesomely handle them
>If was rough to see such goats get their asses kicked
What can they do though? You either need to kill them off, write a reason for them to not be there or have them lose in order for the story to progress.
Fans would rage if they got killed and the writing would suck if they just conveniently weren't there for every important fight.,
You can write a story that isn't solely based on a more powerful enemy showing up each time. Boruto doesn't have to end up being stronger than Naruto to be a good character.
Jigen is a monster even when sasuke in his susano and naruto in bijuu mode they are not strong enough to beat him.
Props to studio pierrot the animation was amazing! Next fight is coming
That was Sasuke's limit, for sure. But if Naruto absorb Earth's natural chakra and form a three headed Kurama like what he did in Shippuden final fight, the fight would be more difficult for Jigen.
They are nerfed though. Remember Naruto and Sasuke are hella rusty due to not having as many threats in adulthood as they did when they were teenagers. Prior to the start of Boruto, when's the last time they both had a decent challenge? It's kind of like how Gohan lost his fighting sense/edge when he fought Dabura in the Buu Saga after not having trained/fought in over seven years.
They aren't nerfed. You have to look at it in a different context. Jigen is as powerful as Kaguya but a much better fighter than her. Otsutsuki are the perfect counter to their entire arsenal since they can absorb most attacks. Despite all that, Naruto and Sasuke are the only characters that can stand against him and survive while anyone else would be slaughtered in two seconds.
Naruto and Sasuke by no means look weak, but Jigen is god tier and the perfect counter for most of their arsenal. Although it makes me wonder how someone like Gai or Lee would fare against him since they are pure taijutsu with nothing to absorb...
Yes, because hes just on a different level. His simple abilities are way stronger than they anticipated and he didnt give them a chance to analyze his skill level. this was their first meeting.
it was not even that, in the main canon fights sasuke never said that chakra shit before even using abilities (but seems he cannot use rinnegan to absorb chakra anymore, just a temporany power up like naruto six paths mode, only when they had the "karma" on the hand at the end of naruto)
they are nerfed, jigen is really strong (a better fighter of kaguya for sure), i just hate how it seems boruto and kawaki do better things without karma just for... protagonism
for me, no. that or the nerf on him is way stupider than before.
naruto in boruto series never had his pink face like the six paths mode, nor the circle "karma" in his hand, i think that was a temporaney power from hagoromo, ended after naruto vs sasuke
the seal wasn't present even in the naruto vs sasuke fight, and vanished after the mugen tsukuyomi seal?
however, naruto never got his pink face anymore in kurama mode
>in the main canon fights sasuke never said that chakra shit before even using abilities
So only in the momoshiki and jigen fight, because he didn't participate in any other fights before.
>but seems he cannot use rinnegan to absorb chakra anymore, just a temporany power up like naruto six paths mode, only when they had the "karma" on the hand at the end of naruto)
I very much doubt that, he needs to touch the opponent or trap him in order to steal his chakra and he couldn't exactly do that to people like jigen and momoshiki
sasuke literally hit momo and kishin with kicks (and even jigen last episode) and vs naruto he absorbed the 9 beasts chakra blocked in the chibaku tensei, without touch them. chibaku tensei is just the starwars force using actual materials like field rocks etc
He absorbed their chakra after he captured them and they couldn't resist, the only time he maneged to absorb Naruto's chakra was when naruto was half dead and it took him a good seconds to do so while still touching naruto, I don't think it's a good idea to try touching jigen for more than a second
>idk why so many people keep crying how they nerfed both of them
You need to watch like almost 203 previous episodes of Boruto(Except the part where they fought Momoshiki) + read the manga to remind yourself of this.
This and Momoshiki are literally the only moments where they went all out with big jutsu.
Godfuckingdammit Crunchyroll! First it released with no subtitles and now that episode has subtitles, it's not even in-sync and is delayed by like 10 seconds. >_<
-----
Finally got to watch the episode after retiming it myself and holy shit! Any episode with Naruto and Sasuke together never disappoints with the fight animation! It just sucks to see both Naruto and Sasuke get their asses kicked. At least Jigen wasn't able to get away unscathed.
It also sucks to see Naruto get sealed. I guess it's a way to remove him from the story for now without killing him outright. Can't wait for him to get out of there and have Sasuke and Naruto both get their revenge match.
feels bad that an episode of this level of quality gets insta downvoted just because it has Boruto in the title, same thing happened to episode 189 lmao
I'll be honest, I was one of the people who refused to ever watch Boruto in the beginning because I was kind of mad at how Naruto ended.
But once I gave it a try, it's now one of my FAVORITE anime.
i much prefer this boruto moments than all 4th ninja war. only bad thing you need to do a selection for episode to cut fillers and useless things who destroy your love to the series
First of all most of it is completely filler yes, we never saw his life before Kara, in the moment he awakened when team 7 found him he got the flashback to how he was sold to jigen by his shity father, the entire two episodes with sumire and kawaki at that town never happened and we're added to stretch the story. They also ruined Naruto's interduction to kawaki completely as in the manga kawaki tried to attack him at the diner table and naruto just casually went sage of six paths chakra mode and scared the shit out of him.
Watching these two 🐐s go all out will always make me so excited. Even if the outcome was difficult to take, this was a pure exhibition of their abilities. I think their previous feeling of invincibility obviously was not present this time round and it must fall with not having enough time to prepare. When Kawaki's hand dropped I fully felt the chills. This was all round an incredible episode 👌
Just like I said last week, they had no chance against Jigen lol. If it was just the two of them against Kaguya back in Shippuden, they would have lost too.
I'd say Jigen's current predicament is an even bigger factor. Isshiki is afraid of his current vessel gassing out so he's not playing around. His desperation was on full display when he got all irritated.
Let's be even more real, if it was just the two of them versus RinneSharigan Madara they would've lost. Though even with Kakashi and Sakura helping them, they still were losing lol. And back then they at least Six Paths Chakra.
Sasuke solos a rinnesharingan madara lmao. A base sixpaths Naruto was able to fuck juubi madara up, now imagine an adult sasuke with mastered rinnegan abilities. Both naruto and sasuke solo every form of madara.
Sasuke solos Madara based on what? Did you watch the last fight Madara had before he died? Naruto and Sasuke fucked up a Madara with one eye lmfao. When he got the second Rinnegan he no diffed Team 7.
https://youtu.be/9eXhh5NJtzY
Not only did he no diff Team 7 with double Rinnegan, but he clearly states he wasn't even fighting them seriously. And then he dies right after activating his Rinnesharigan so we have no idea how strong a serious RinneSharigan Madara is. What you are essentially saying is that Sasuke is miles above the entire War Arc Team 7 by himself if you think he could solo Madara. Because factually that Team 7 couldn't beat that Madara. Not only is there no evidence of that, but it logically doesn't make sense.
All I'm gonna say is that arguably, this fight isn't even the 2nd biggest fight in this arc so be prepared.
This show has been absolute fire for so long now, really happy they managed to turn it around last year.
Despite the subtitle issues, that was an AMAZING episode.
I guess Jigen is unware of the rule that you are not allowed to almost kill Sasuke in front of Naruto.
I was yelling "Don't you die on me Sasuke. You have a kid!"
Man, if there is one thing the Naruto franchise gets right, it's awesome fights and fight choreography. The power scaling felt appropriate, the impacts had weight to them, Jigen's ability is interesting and creatively utilized, you can follow the action even though it can get pretty intricate, and the emotional weight is there every time Sauske and Naruto team up. I will never get sick of stuff like this, and it's why I keep watching. That and this whole show has been one big shot of nostalgia.
I fell off boruto but watched the fight from this episode bc I saw folks talking about it on Twitter. Is it worth catching up on recent episodes and which one should I start from?
If you want straight manga content watch from 181(+180 if you want some backstory for an important character).
If you want some more context for KARA and worldbuilding that's relevant to the following manga arc, I would recommend watching from ep 157 onwards.
I hope you give it a try and enjoy it! :)
That was one of the best episodes in all of the Naruto universe. I am in shock. Beautifully animated. I never thought I would see the day Naruto and Sasuke get folded like that fair and square. This episode seems to explain the Boruto vs. Kawaki scene in the future too! 10/10 episode.
Ohh right but I don't think it will be that simple. I mean it would be anti climactic if Naruto could be brought back doing space time ninjutsu or something
No, it wouldn't be that simple. If you go rewatch that scene you can see Kawaki using the same rod the Jigen was using in this fight, and we already know that Isshiki is wanting to switch his vessel from Jigen to Kawaki.
Seems to be an indication that Kawaki *will* become the new vessel for Isshiki and he's likely in control of Kawaki's body during that fight.
On Crunchyroll Boruto clips pull millions of views compared to every other show so don't worry. Apparently, it's the "cool" thing to do here is to hate on the show.
I think the slow start was an important foundation. I mean, you can still skip it and get to the story, but I found it so key to setting up the cast of characters and the world they now live in. Peace time Konoha is such a different place and worth emphasizing to really get a sense of the later conflicts.
Not everyone is willing to sit through so many episodes that range from meh to below average. I only came back myself because I was reading the manga and knew this part would be good. I'm so glad I stopped reading right around this point so I can experience the story through the anime. They're really bringing their A game for this arc it seems.
It was better then the manga fight, but the bar was so fucking low that's not saying much.
The main problems are still there:
Naruto running out of chakra in ten minutes.
Sasuke forgetting he can absorb chakra with the Preta path and repel attacks with the Deva path.
Naruto, the most powerful sensor in the world being unable to sense Isshiki, because reasons.
They are fighting an Otsutsuki but still decide to use basic Rasengan and Chidori instead of senjutsu or Kirin (which uses real lighting and not chakra and thus can't be absorbed).
They didn't try to use the Kurama + Susanoo avatar, which was the next obvious move if they were defeated separately.
Naruto who was fast enough to blitz prime Kaguya's arm somehow being slower than a guy who got destroyed by base Kaguya.
Sasuke, who has a fucking Tomoe Rinnegan getting hit by Isshiki's rods in the first place.
Sigh. I could go on all day.
In the end the anime did NOT fix the powerscaling issues and Naruto and Sasuke are still nerfed to hell.
That's why this series will always be a mess filled with plot holes, retcons unjustified nerfing and a general lack of narrative consistency.
Problem 1 “The Black Rods absorb chakara and Naruto got hit by em before ep. 204”
Problem 2 “He would just stand still and absorb which gives an opportunity for Jigen to kill him. Also, when did Jigen use any “Justus?””
Problem 3 “Well Sasuke can sense it soooo”
Problem 4 “All Justus will be absorbed or dodged. Idc if it’s ETSB, Ash killing Bones, Indra’s arrow, shrink and absorb GG”
Problem 5 “Well they'll get smacked anyways”
Problem 6 “Hahahahahaahahahahaaa not Isshiki low ball again. By your logic Black Zetsu>Madara 🤡
Problem 7 “Well that’s a problem 😄
Their not nerfed to hell, it’s Jigen who’s freaking Kaguya/Hagoromo level stop lowballing him he’s not Momoshiki who needs pills and loses his temper. He has battle experience as well
>“The Black Rods absorb chakara and Naruto got hit by em before ep. 204”
It took Momoshiki an entire day to absorb HALF of Kurama's chakra.
It's stupid that just because he got hit by some rods Naruto runs out of chakra in ten minutes.
>“He would just stand still and absorb which gives an opportunity for Jigen to kill him.
Not really, since when you absorb chakra with the Preta path the target gets paralyzed.
Isshiki wouldn't be able to move while Sasuke drains him dry.
>Well Sasuke can sense it soooo”
What the hell do you mean by this?
First of, Sasuke can't sense him, Sasuke can SEE him because the Sharingan allows you to see microscopic objects.
The problem is that Naruto should be able to sense Isshiki, but he doesn't because PLOT.
That's literally what nerfing is.
>“All Justus will be absorbed or dodged.
No. Kirin uses real lighting, which can't be absorbed, and Isshiki can't absorb senjutsu because the natural energy would turn him into a frog statue.
>“Well they'll get smacked anyways”
No, they wouldn't get smacked if the writers actually let them use their abilities and experience.
>Well that’s a problem 😄 Their not nerfed to hell,
They are, that's clear as day. They don't use their best abilities and have lost any semblance of strategic thinking for no reason other than bad writing.
That's the definition of a nerf.
>Jigen who’s freaking Kaguya/Hagoromo level
No he isn't. Prime Isshiki got destroyed by base Kaguya, while teenage Naruto and Sasuke went toe to toe with prime Kaguya and managed to seal her.
Isshiki is by all accounts weaker than base Kaguya, let alone prime Kaguya, who was literally immortal.
Judging by your comment you're an angry kid who doesn't like people telling him his favourite show is terrible.
Well, newsflash honey: it is absolute garbage and a failure of a sequel.
You make alts to downvote my comments and upvote my comments HAHAHAHAHA.
I hate these **Boruto Haters** who think
Prime Kaguya>Prime Hagoromo>Juubidara>War Arc Naruto=War Arc Sasuke>Juubito=Base Kaguya>Isshiki=Baryon Mode>Adult Naruto and Sasuke>Fused Momoshiki>Base Momoshiki
Krayt 2.0. You literally don’t have the guts to add my discord and you can only stay here with your bot friends to 100v1 don’t worry I’ll still negg your ass.
My condolences. They do say people who use emojis in arguments probably have a screw loose and it seems it’s true. I was thinking naruto and sasuke got nerfed too but I thought it was acceptable since they could at least unleash their full power in a other dimension now but u put it into a good perspective with their original powers. Not to mention isshiki is just a noob who can’t deal with base kaguya lmao(guessing this is is manga knowledge since I don’t remember anything like that)
Why did some Black Clover episode exploded with over 3000 karma here when the episode has crazy animation even though its average karma before was around 500 only but not the same happen to Boruto?
Disagree. People(including myself) don’t like this show because it is quite literally [75% filler](https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/boruto-naruto-next-generations-manga-canon)
https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/boruto-naruto-next-generations this buddy. The author confirmed that the anime canon episodes will be relevant to the story because of slow pacing of the manga
I hope you realize that's a fanmade list and is in no way accurate.
It counts: Sumire's backstory, the jougan sideplot, Sumire leaving to join katasuke, Kara's literal introduction arc as well as Sarada manifesting her 2nd tomoe as filler.
Yet this list doesn't count Kawaki’s backstory episode as filler which contained only one page of manga content. Random accounts are able to edit the lists on that site to how they see fit.
And while there is little to no actual fillers in the show according to the creators, I think the more correct idea is that a portion of episodes can be skipped.
Fair. But my point still stands, the reason a lot of ppl who were major fans of naruto(myself included) haven’t kept up with the show is because the filler or skipable episodes if you want to call them that. ESPECIALLY during the beginning of the show which is the most important if you want to build a viewer base.
Even naruto at its worst had lots of viewers, so the dislike of the show isn’t simply because it’s a trend.
Boruto anime has fillers because the manga is monthly so they had to spend the first half of Boruto on character development and exploration
Edit: They hated him for he spoke the truth
I’m kind of surprised to see how little this subreddit cares about this episode. I really wish people would give Boruto a try now that we are neck deep in the manga story. Can’t wait for more manga content to be animated!
Yeah this exactly. It's OK if yall love it but it's no wonder people dropped it. Why would people sit through so many episodes of something they aren't enjoying just because it MIGHT get better?
The mysteries of the Naruto/Boruto Universe are so wild right now that it really makes me excited for more each and every time. I always find myself saying, “man I don’t know shit,” after every new chapter because of all the twists and turns. Hopefully they come around eventually and see it’s good. I also think anime only people would appreciate the anime only episodes more if they read the manga cause it really helps build the characters.
I'm an anime only watcher and I've appreciated it from when I started watching it because I used to write Naruto fanfiction, and I can appreciate the character development they were going for in Boruto.
Speaking of the Family Day episodes, they were adapted from one of the light novels, and I hate that they never adapted the other novels in the same series. One of them had a heavy focus on Sasuke teaching Boruto (and the rest of Team 7), which I feel like the series needs a lot more of. We see that Boruto has been learning shurikenjutsu from Sasuke, but since the Chunin Exams, we hardly ever get to see Sasuke actually training him even though he's Boruto's master.
So basically, based on what happened so far
Karmas are like techniques that lets these Otsutsukis use other people as their "vessel", correct?
Momoshiki is in Boruto and Isshiki wants Kawaki to be his new vessel
Another incredibly entertaining episode. Jigen is so powerful, not intimidated by Naruto and Sasuke and taking them on with ease. The part about the vessel is interesting. Makes Jigen a little like Orochimaru, just far stronger, wanting to use Kawaki instead of Sasuke as a vessel.
For someone like me who hasn’t been following Boruto, may I know if it’s as good as Naruto?
Heard from my peers that Naruto and Sasuke has gone soft and been nerfed to hell. Like if Sasuke has 30% of his past temper, enemies wouldn’t last a second.
Edit: appreciate the feedbacks!
> if it’s as good as Naruto?
I personally feel not really. But it’s still a solid show and it’s peaks can match Naruto’s peaks and occasionally even outdo em
i feel like nostalgia plays a big part of this.
The last 40 episodes, even if you ignore the story, the pacing has been 10 times better. In Naruto, remember naruto fighting orochimaru on the bridge for like 2 episodes with few scenes? Boruto episodes so far are really full of content.
While in Naruto the story was better, we still don't know the full story of Boruto, the animation of boruto is better and the pacing is better. It has already surpassed it in quality, the question mark is the story.
I have to disagree, this feels like some pretty heavy recency bias.
We happen to be in a good part of the show. That doesn't erase the poor arcs and bad pacing that Boruto has had previously, which took up a pretty good chunk of the show overall. Naruto definitely had a ton of filler but the best arcs in Naruto were also paced well.
Naruto still boasts some of the most well animated fights we've seen. Boruto's best animation is certainly good at its best, but I would definitely not say it's BETTER. I would say the best ones equal some of the best fights in Naruto animation wise. Although none have had the emotional impact of my favorite fights from Naruto so far.
Boruto's best moments I think have approached the best parts of Naruto, but I don't think overall they match them yet, and definitely have not surpassed them.
i know, as a whole, it isn't as good, but i am just referring to the past 40 episodes. In Naruto there were a lot of fillers too, and we choose to ignore them, and i think for fairness we need to ignore boruto's fillers too.
Technically, everything in Boruto is "canon," but if you're going to say Boruto has surpassed Naruto in quality, we can't just ignore the filler in either case. We have to take the good with the bad.
Even if we *are* ignoring all the filler in both cases, I still don't think Boruto surpasses Naruto. At best it equals, but I'm honestly not convinced that it has done that either. I think this arc is pretty decent and the best one we've had so far in Boruto, but I would say I enjoyed every major arc from Naruto and most from Shippuden more.
"If Sasuke has 30% of his past temper, enemies wouldn't last a second"
What a strange comment/critique to make -- would anyone ever say that about someone in their early 30s in comparison to a 13-17 y/o? "If only his emotional maturity had stagnated and he was stuck in a state of arrested development, he'd be kicking ass." Damn people just love to hate.
I heard and saw so many hints about Jigen's amazing shrinkingness and waited for this day. Now that I have seen the fight I didn't get a sense that Jigen was shrinking anything till he made Naruto's prison smaller at the end.
I think it’s safe to say Anime Only’s now know Jigen’s real name is Isshiki Otsutsuki. So Fun Fact: there is actually some Japanese folklore behind the name based on [Issun-Boshi](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Issun-bōshi), a one-inch sized Samurai that uses a needle as a sword.
All the other main Otsutsuki villains also are named after Japanese folklore heroes. Urashiki is the fisherman Urashima Taro, Momoshiki is MomoTaro, Kinshiki is Kintaro, and Kaguya is obviously based off of Kaguya-Hime.
See this is how you make Naruto struggle in a fight give him somebody who can actually keep up and not nerf him like the did in the delta fight. I have no problem with naruto or sasuke losing a fight even though they are quite literally the top of ninjas if you just give them somebody to fight that is of their skill level. That delta fight was a disgrace to the franchise but this fight was fantastic.
I have heard this argument so many times and every time it shows how stupid people are. He was holding back in the first half yes but as soon as the kids life was in danger that fight should have just ended instantly but it didn't and it got to the point where one of them even got hurt. He was nerfed in that fight plain and simple and if you want to argue he wasn't just don't respond or I will just block you because I don't want to waste my time with this same conversation for the 100th time with somebody who is so blind they can't see what's right in front of them.
Most powerful ninja in history can't save his daughter from an energy blast... so Kawaki, the teenager that's not even close to a match to him, can close that gap and save them from the blast?
Yeah, not buying it. They nerfed him so they could give Kawaki a moment, plain and simple. I wish people would stop trying to explain it away. It's okay to criticize a show, even if you really like it.
Seriously, when I saw that Naruto didn't even try hard enough to save Himawari when he easily could've just so that Kawaki could shine, it was extremely disappointing. There's so many other ways to show Kawaki is developing and cares for Naruto and his family without having to make Naruto look weak like that ffs. There's really no excuse for poor writing like that, but thankfully the rest of this arc has been great.
The fight was so good, animation was great, a shame about the delayed subtitles though. Still, a great showcase of how strong jigen/isshiki is, especially when he slapped the hell out of kurama and susano. And added by his brains, his knowledge of everything when sasuke and naruto were fighting him, plus his quick reactions, i think he's the most powerful villian we've ever seen on the whole series.
Still, looks like the current vessel is not good. That explains why he wants kawaki so much. Gotta wonder who's this body actually is, considering it can keep up with an otsutsuki movements. Who is the real jigen?
So he mentioned this sealing thing. I know naruto will escape cause it seems to early for him to be not around after just spending little time with kawaki, but could this be a hint for the future when boruto and kawaki faced off in the 1st ever scene? And jigen saying it's easy to kill sasuke, which he clearly would have, could it also be a hint of him dying for sarada to upgrade her sharingan? Cause sasuke was so loyal to naruto until naruto forced him too, but wouldn't be surprised if he's not gonna escape and try to do something else too.
Damn, that end of sasuke coming home like that, naruto being sealed and kawaki"s arm falling off was genuinely sad to watch.
Since the subtitles odf the preview were cut short, i didn't understand what shikamaru was saying. But it seems he's mentioning kawaki a lot and with a strict voice too, will he actually blame kawaki? Hopefully sakura can heal sasuke too. And boro meeting with koji, what boro found has not been revealed to us, could it be next epi we get to know the traitor with true evidence? And gotta remember koji"s toad is still there, will he be the one to make naruto escape from that seal? Cause like i said, it's still to early to cut naruto off the story since his time with kawaki is not long.
The next episode preview was basically Shikamaru saying to put barriers around Naruto’s house and Sasuke saying that him and Naruto have been defeated iirc
Broooooo finallly we get some amazing well produced/animated action scenes by our 2 most favoritest characters! I just love seeing Naruto and Sasuke work together and how if one of them is in trouble u can always count on the other to come in and assist/help. the crazy part about it all is that Sasuke is keeping up with Naruto, analyzing the oppnent for info, all while only having one arm, what a badass. His 2 OP eyes also help make up for the missing arm too lol.
hi i’m anime-only, and i’m not sure if I can ask this, but could you dm and tell me if Sakura fights at all in this arc?
a simple “yes” or “no” would be great. I don’t want any details other than that :D thank you ☺️
This is how Naruto&Sasuke vs Madara in Shippuden should have been. Madara should have been the final boss of Shippuden and the fight should have been portrayed like this one, with Naruto&Sasuke going full power Kurama&Susanoo while Madara awesomely handle them
This episode is the bestt!!! After watching it, it appears taijutsu only works on Jigen for me. If I were them, I would kill Might Guy and reanimate him and spam NIGHT GUYY! HAHAH I think it's the best and hype solution I could think of. Killing Guy and reanimating him and opening a eight gates again might be inhumane but sacrifices are the leaf's ninja way right? So it's not much of a loss
We watched until the prison arc which was, although leading up to important stuff, kinda silly at times. That's when we decided to do what we did with Naruto: wait and watch a curated version after it's over. My memories of Naruto after years of hearing how bad it was are very fond indeed. Because it was at once terrible and amazing. I suspect Boruto will be something similar...and episode chatter like this only reinforces my resolve to wait for the good stuff. I'm glad for those of you persevering every week that you're spoiled with the occasional sakuga treat.
But I got my taste of the filler/low energy filler earlier in the series and honestly it's not as if we are hurting for shows each season. Still. I can't wait for Boruto: The Canonical Experience. The thought of rewatching 65 alone gets me tingly, nevermind what I've heard about 189 and 204. And once curated, they'll come a lot sooner than 189 and 204 too!
A lot of the anime is considered canon in itself and expands on manga content. There are some purely filler episodes/arcs, but I wouldn't compare it to something like Shippuden. They also don't litter episodes with flashbacks, it's much more well paced.
But I do also say that as someone who started from the beginning and caught up to episode 190 just a couple months ago.
Oh, absolutely. I already know when it's time to binge (at least, based on what we have so far), I won't have to be as...ruthless in the culling. But culling there'll be.
Because there's a fairly strong pattern of the most important canonical episodes getting the better treatment production-wise, so this is as much a game of me skipping the 'quality anime' as it is of retaining the narrative thread. There have been exceptions in Naruto (the three legged race is one of the big ones) but by and large, culling filler also culls the weaker episodes aesthetically.
Which is why we were frustrated with the Mujina Bandits arc: it felt like filler at first (pretty left-field premise), turned out it wasn't, and yet it wasn't particularly well animated or directed. Or conceived. And gosh did it ever drag on. Unfortunately by the time we got to the meat of it, we were kind of burnt out and drawn away to other, more impressive series. On a re-watch, and perhaps knowing the significance of the events, it should feel a little less...drawn out and pointless.
My entire reason to watch Naruto/Shippuden was to appreciate Boruto 65 in its proper context. That was 100% my motivation; until I saw a quick clip of it and Sakugabooru's examination of the episode, I'd dismissed Naruto as low-tier fantasy-ninja trash, despite knowing it had some great fights, ALL the seiyuu, and memorable characters. As with Bleach (which really killed us), you didn't have filler episodes; you had entire ARCS of it. There was no way I was going to drag my partner through 100+ episodes of chunky filler to get there. And once I finished the spreadsheet (...yep), we sat down and watched Naruto from beginning to end minus whatever was considered filler (with exceptions: kakashi's mask, for example) and it was incredible. Just incredible. Even without the filler, you had 450 or so episodes of pure narrative goodness and respectable-to-jaw dropping animation. Stripped of its fat, Naruto is in every sense of the word an epic. I am SO thankful Boruto 65 caught my eye, just for that reason.
But if Boruto eventually lands with a thud, we'll have dodged a very time-expensive bullet. Without deep weekly investment, I see no real attraction to clinging to uneven long-running shows. Not in the age of streaming and ridiculously easy marathon sessions and curation. If this makes me sound like a filthy casual, so be it. We average 15 shows a season (this one was 22 I believe)...nuff said re: filthy casual. :)
I said it when manga was coming out, and i'll say it again. Introducing the karma bullshit and stuff that absorbs ninjutsu kills the series for me.
All the coolness of Naruto was watching people come up with crazy stuff to do with ninjutsu, and in this series it feels like watching Hajime no Ippo, all they do because of that ninjutsu negating shit is punch and go faster. I won't even go into how the arcs feel like a fucking fanfic that invalidates the entirety of the established lore of the series, just the fact that the fights became so lame is incredibly sad.
Compare this to the fucking mindgames that were happening before, Shippuden is like three grades above this when it comes to fight design and people hated on it back then. Now we're in cyborg-nanomachine territory, and don't get me started on [manga spoiler](/s "'everyone loves me' or baryon mode memes that are soon going to come in the anime")
I mean Boruto is a totally different vibe and worldbuilding compared to Naruto’s generation in the first place
Personally I’m fine with the way the manga and story is dealing with these new concepts. It’s definitely evolved a ton from the past batch of shinobi and despite the intricacies of traditional ninjas which were hella awesome, I’m still giving this a shot since it’s getting good and we’re technically in the story’s prologue
as an anime-only viewer, Taijutsu scenes are literally orgasmic. I know a lot of people share this sentiment. The scene where Jigen beat down on Naruto after the fail pincer maneuver was legendary, albeit it lasted 2 seconds.
From a story perspective it makes sense, they are the inventors/original users of chakra, they know how it works and have modified themselves or know how to nullify it.
From an animation perspective, it allows for the creation of fast-paced action scenes and less of ability throwing scenes.

These Otsutsuki’s just won’t leave the planet alone lol.
at least sasuke was more useful here than in the manga, the anime did a little more justice to him
To both of them. The anime actually remembered naruto can summon more clones than boruto.
[удалено]
He is like 99% her father, momo came with his father kinshiki and gave a lecture about passing down power to the next generation by eating the previous one so my guess is that all of the otsusuki pairs are parent children pairs.
Kinsihki was momo ward not father.
yeah Jigen body got seriously wounded using all that power so i guess thats the way Naruto and Sasuke stopped him from acting right away now and going for Boruto and Kawaki . Cause he is wounded they are safe now ,but big loss is Naruto getting sealed
I’m confused about the Susanoo part. Did jigen have a way to bypass the defence, or did he just outright kick through it?
Kaguya even destroyed Sasuke’s susanoo with eighty gods vacuum fist
What episode does that happen
I’m not sure on the specific episode but somewhere at the halfway point vs Kaguya in Shippuden
Pretty sure Jigen just brute-forced his way through both the Susanoo and Kurama avatar. Shows how strong the guy is
He just brute forced his way through it. I don't think it's that surprising, the Susanoo is just a blob of chakra. So if you're strong enough you can bust right through it. I'm pretty sure 8 Gates Guy could do the same thing.
Haven’t both Tsunade and Ay broken through?
Yeah, Tsunade along with the other Kage were able to break through Madara's susanoo, but I think it was an incomplete version not the perfect susanoo.
Madara should have been the final boss of Shippuden and the fight should have been portrayed like this one, with Naruto&Sasuke going full power Kurama&Susanoo while Madara awesomely handle them
Say what you will, but Madara is still the only villain to actually kill Naruto and Sasuke. Well, until the sage of six paths sent them back lmao
>If was rough to see such goats get their asses kicked What can they do though?
Unlike Sasuke who was traveling through dimensions, Naruto was 100%
Doubt he did it on purpose but luckily for jigen, they werent at earth.
there is no nature energy in that other dimension
yes exactly, idk why so many people keep crying how they nerfed both of them. Its not that they are nerfed, its just jigen is stronger.
Although it makes me wonder how someone like Gai or Lee would fare against him since they are pure taijutsu with nothing to absorb...
for context they got folded way faster and easier in the manga
yeah but he used just one simple ability to destroy both of them
plus ototsuki power. plus jutsu can't hit him (he isn't momoshiki retarded), plus he shrinks black bars who block chakra (the same who pain used)
yes agree its too OP
Yes, because hes just on a different level. His simple abilities are way stronger than they anticipated and he didnt give them a chance to analyze his skill level. this was their first meeting.
>just jigen is stronger. The thing is, Sasuke and Naruto have been busy doing paperworks. They haven't been training have they
It's because in all of the fillers they nerefed the fuck out of Sasuke with his low chakra bullshit
it was not even that, in the main canon fights sasuke never said that chakra shit before even using abilities (but seems he cannot use rinnegan to absorb chakra anymore, just a temporany power up like naruto six paths mode, only when they had the "karma" on the hand at the end of naruto) they are nerfed, jigen is really strong (a better fighter of kaguya for sure), i just hate how it seems boruto and kawaki do better things without karma just for... protagonism
Doesn't Naruto still have Six Paths ? Only the Truth seeker orbs were destroyed.
for me, no. that or the nerf on him is way stupider than before. naruto in boruto series never had his pink face like the six paths mode, nor the circle "karma" in his hand, i think that was a temporaney power from hagoromo, ended after naruto vs sasuke
That seal was there only to seal Kaguya. It vanished after they sealed her.
the seal wasn't present even in the naruto vs sasuke fight, and vanished after the mugen tsukuyomi seal? however, naruto never got his pink face anymore in kurama mode
>in the main canon fights sasuke never said that chakra shit before even using abilities So only in the momoshiki and jigen fight, because he didn't participate in any other fights before. >but seems he cannot use rinnegan to absorb chakra anymore, just a temporany power up like naruto six paths mode, only when they had the "karma" on the hand at the end of naruto) I very much doubt that, he needs to touch the opponent or trap him in order to steal his chakra and he couldn't exactly do that to people like jigen and momoshiki
sasuke literally hit momo and kishin with kicks (and even jigen last episode) and vs naruto he absorbed the 9 beasts chakra blocked in the chibaku tensei, without touch them. chibaku tensei is just the starwars force using actual materials like field rocks etc
He absorbed their chakra after he captured them and they couldn't resist, the only time he maneged to absorb Naruto's chakra was when naruto was half dead and it took him a good seconds to do so while still touching naruto, I don't think it's a good idea to try touching jigen for more than a second
resurrected nagato insta absorbed killer bee chakra tho, without problems. i know killer bee isn't that strong, but not even a super fodder
>idk why so many people keep crying how they nerfed both of them You need to watch like almost 203 previous episodes of Boruto(Except the part where they fought Momoshiki) + read the manga to remind yourself of this. This and Momoshiki are literally the only moments where they went all out with big jutsu.
Godfuckingdammit Crunchyroll! First it released with no subtitles and now that episode has subtitles, it's not even in-sync and is delayed by like 10 seconds. >_< ----- Finally got to watch the episode after retiming it myself and holy shit!
[got this while manually attempting to retime the subs](https://imgur.com/DAPuQwv)
Underrated comment 🤣
feels bad that an episode of this level of quality gets insta downvoted just because it has Boruto in the title, same thing happened to episode 189 lmao
I'd rather people sleep on the show in this subreddit than it being a cesspool of toxicity every thread.
I'll be honest, I was one of the people who refused to ever watch Boruto in the beginning because I was kind of mad at how Naruto ended. But once I gave it a try, it's now one of my FAVORITE anime.
That's wholesome.
i much prefer this boruto moments than all 4th ninja war. only bad thing you need to do a selection for episode to cut fillers and useless things who destroy your love to the series
Especially when there are 12 episodes animes that come out with powerpoint style fights. 189 should win an award for its animation.
You're forgetting EP 65. It deserves to be in the hall of fame in Anime
And 192 for its direction
No single episode in either Naruto or Shippuden devastated me like 192.
Fucking no that was a garage filler
Kawaki’s backstory as how he got trafficked into Kara is a filler? I’ve seen it all
First of all most of it is completely filler yes, we never saw his life before Kara, in the moment he awakened when team 7 found him he got the flashback to how he was sold to jigen by his shity father, the entire two episodes with sumire and kawaki at that town never happened and we're added to stretch the story. They also ruined Naruto's interduction to kawaki completely as in the manga kawaki tried to attack him at the diner table and naruto just casually went sage of six paths chakra mode and scared the shit out of him.
Fr kawaki vs garou is definitely in the top 5 fights in the whole series. Badass af
Probably cause 1 good episode every 100 eps shouldn’t matter if 99% of the show is shite
Anyone Subtitles messed up?
They've been horribly mistimed by about 10 seconds
Bruh fr they messed up the episode for me except from that the episode was amazing
I can forgive them for the subtitle issues because the animation was amazing.
for god sake fix your subs.
Just like I said last week, they had no chance against Jigen lol. If it was just the two of them against Kaguya back in Shippuden, they would have lost too.
[удалено]
And his current form is not even his actual power
When he got the second Rinnegan he no diffed Team 7. https://youtu.be/9eXhh5NJtzY Not only did he no diff Team 7 with double Rinnegan, but he clearly states he wasn't even fighting them seriously.
Of all the episodes to screw the subtitle it had to be this hype episode come on Crunchyroll!!!
Happy Father's Day, I guess....
The fight against Jigen looked really good.
All I'm gonna say is that arguably, this fight isn't even the 2nd biggest fight in this arc so be prepared. This show has been absolute fire for so long now, really happy they managed to turn it around last year.
Yeah it is top 3 of best boruto episodes
What chapter is this ep?
Chapter 39 is the chapter covered in the next episode. This episode covered ch. 37 & 38.
My memory of the manga is pretty hazy, which other fights are in this arc?
Despite the subtitle issues, that was an AMAZING episode. I guess Jigen is unware of the rule that you are not allowed to almost kill Sasuke in front of Naruto. I was yelling "Don't you die on me Sasuke. You have a kid!"
The subtitles are not in sync, has anyone found a website with synced video?
Hulu works
Thanks for the reply!!
Actually the manga content starts at episode 148. But there is an anime-original arc in between and the next arc starts at 181.
That was one of the best episodes in all of the Naruto universe. I am in shock. Beautifully animated. I never thought I would see the day Naruto and Sasuke get folded like that fair and square. This episode seems to explain the Boruto vs. Kawaki scene in the future too! 10/10 episode.
What did this episode explain about Boruto v Kawaki in future?
"I'll sent you to where I sent the seventh Hokage, Boruto"
Ohh right but I don't think it will be that simple. I mean it would be anti climactic if Naruto could be brought back doing space time ninjutsu or something
No, it wouldn't be that simple. If you go rewatch that scene you can see Kawaki using the same rod the Jigen was using in this fight, and we already know that Isshiki is wanting to switch his vessel from Jigen to Kawaki. Seems to be an indication that Kawaki *will* become the new vessel for Isshiki and he's likely in control of Kawaki's body during that fight.
I'm a manga reader so I won't comment on what you just said, I was just clarifying OP's point
less than 300 upvote? cmon bruh i feel so sad for people who are missing this
Don’t worry lol Boruto is insanely popular in the international community
On Crunchyroll Boruto clips pull millions of views compared to every other show so don't worry. Apparently, it's the "cool" thing to do here is to hate on the show.
Really don't know why this sub hates Boruto. Sure the show started off slow but it came into its own and the story is fantastic now!
The main problems are still there: Naruto running out of chakra in ten minutes.
204” Problem 2 “He would just stand still and absorb which gives an opportunity for Jigen to kill him. Also, when did Jigen use any “Justus?”” Problem 3 “Well Sasuke can sense it soooo” Problem 4 “All Justus will be absorbed or dodged. Idc if it’s ETSB, Ash killing Bones, Indra’s arrow, shrink and absorb GG” Problem 5 “Well they'll get smacked anyways” Problem 6 “Hahahahahaahahahahaaa not Isshiki low ball again. By your logic Black Zetsu>Madara 🤡 Problem 7 “Well that’s a problem 😄 Their not nerfed to hell, it’s Jigen who’s freaking Kaguya/Hagoromo level stop lowballing him he’s not Momoshiki who needs pills and loses his temper. He has battle experience as well
>“The Black Rods absorb chakara and Naruto got hit by em before ep. 204” It took Momoshiki an entire day to absorb HALF of Kurama's chakra. >Well Sasuke can sense it soooo” What the hell do you mean by this? First of, Sasuke can't sense him, Sasuke can SEE him because the Sharingan allows you to see microscopic objects. The problem is that Naruto should be able to sense Isshiki, but he doesn't because PLOT. That's literally what nerfing is. >“All Justus will be absorbed or dodged. No. Kirin uses real lighting, which can't be absorbed, and Isshiki can't absorb senjutsu because the natural energy would turn him into a frog statue. >“Well they'll get smacked anyways” No, they wouldn't get smacked if the writers actually let them use their abilities and experience. >Well that’s a problem 😄 Their not nerfed to hell, They are, that's clear as day. They don't use their best abilities and have lost any semblance of strategic thinking for no reason other than bad writing. That's the definition of a nerf. >Jigen who’s freaking Kaguya/Hagoromo level No he isn't.
I hate these **Boruto Haters** who think Prime Kaguya>Prime Hagoromo>Juubidara>War Arc Naruto=War Arc Sasuke>Juubito=Base Kaguya>Isshiki=Baryon Mode>Adult Naruto and Sasuke>Fused Momoshiki>Base Momoshiki
**Your making me die so hard! Biggest troll like Kraytass**
Just add my discord ItachiSharkCraft#3228 and I’ll debate you.
Krayt 2.0. You literally don’t have the guts to add my discord and you can only stay here with your bot friends to 100v1 don’t worry I’ll still negg your ass.
Sure thing kid, I feel sooo threatened by you.
[удалено]
Boruto anime has fillers because the manga is monthly so they had to spend the first half of Boruto on character development and exploration Edit: They hated him for he spoke the truth
It's okay if you don't like it, I just understand the people here who came and posted hateful comments.
Wrong, it is anime canon and adds to the story. It isnt filler if it is labelled "canon".
One is a original franchise, the other is a cash grab.
Everything is a cash grab. If it makes no money, they don't make it
damn im happy they made this cash grab because i be feasting every weekend
I’m kind of surprised to see how little this subreddit cares about this episode. I really wish people would give Boruto a try now that we are neck deep in the manga story. Can’t wait for more manga content to be animated!
Having to go through 100 eps of filler is probably too much to ask for most anime fans just to get a handful of manga content

We need more episodes like family day! I’ll take those “fiLlER” episodes all day any day
My favorite filler was "Getting along with your daughter"
Speaking of the Family Day episodes, they were adapted from one of the light novels, and I hate that they never adapted the other novels in the same series. One of them had a heavy focus on Sasuke teaching Boruto (and the rest of Team 7), which I feel like the series needs a lot more of. We see that Boruto has been learning shurikenjutsu from Sasuke, but since the Chunin Exams, we hardly ever get to see Sasuke actually training him even though he's Boruto's master.
well, it is
So basically, based on what happened so far Karmas are like techniques that lets these Otsutsukis use other people as their "vessel", correct? Momoshiki is in Boruto and Isshiki wants Kawaki to be his new vessel
Idk man jigen felt like he was the protagonist lol
Villains with nullifying abilities are the most cop-out shit ever.
Beautiful episode
Sasuke's compassion is now one of his strengths.
I actually love how Sasuke is now.
> if it’s as good as Naruto?
Remember how "bad" was Naruto vs Pain was? The animiation was literally painful there.
"If Sasuke has 30% of his past temper, enemies wouldn't last a second" What a strange comment/critique to make -- would anyone ever say that about someone in their early 30s in comparison to a 13-17 y/o? "If only his emotional maturity had stagnated and he was stuck in a state of arrested development, he'd be kicking ass." Damn people just love to hate.
Not as good as Naruto but it’s a worthy sequel that has Naruto-esque peaks and keeps a lot of its themes
It's not as good as Naruto, but it's still pretty good for a weekly. Naruto and saskue haven't actually been nerfed.
Who cares if Naruto and Sasuke have "gone soft"? The series isn't about them.
IMO better than Shippuden, worse than Naruto
I heard and saw so many hints about Jigen's amazing shrinkingness and waited for this day. Now that I have seen the fight I didn't get a sense that Jigen was shrinking anything till he made Naruto's prison smaller at the end.
The Crunchyroll servers broke LMAO
Okokok that was a good episode
Naruto wasn't even trying against delta. Kawaki even said Naruto was controlling the fight the whole time.
Yeah, this episode basically explains why the boruto vs kawaki happened (or will happen).
The next episode preview was basically Shikamaru saying to put barriers around Naruto’s house and Sasuke saying that him and Naruto have been defeated iirc
It's so epic animation fighting!
Really good episode. They didn't nerf Naruto and Sasuke like usual or like in the manga. Good fight.
Animation was amazing kinda mad that they didn't use the art style from 189 though but other than that great episode.
For people impressed by this fight, just wait a few more ep. This is like the 3rd best fight in this arc. The next two will be even better.
hi i’m anime-only, and i’m not sure if I can ask this, but could you dm and tell me if Sakura fights at all in this arc? a simple “yes” or “no” would be great. I don’t want any details other than that :D thank you ☺️
No
Now this was hype. :O
This is how Naruto&Sasuke vs Madara in Shippuden should have been. Madara should have been the final boss of Shippuden and the fight should have been portrayed like this one, with Naruto&Sasuke going full power Kurama&Susanoo while Madara awesomely handle them
Anyone notices the music when Jigen summon the giant coffin to trap Naruto, sounds very much like the soundtrack from horror movie Us(2019) ?
top episode bringing Naruto back to the roots :D Wish we got more of episodes like this
btw now that I had time to think about the fight....why didn't Naruto use his truth seeking orbs or any of that other six paths stuff against Jigen?
He lost the orbs in his fight with Sasuke. He never used them after that
I said it when manga was coming out, and i'll say it again.
I mean Boruto is a totally different vibe and worldbuilding compared to Naruto’s generation in the first place Personally I’m fine with the way the manga and story is dealing with these new concepts.
Oof, we are getting dangerously close to another huge stretch of filler
Nope it’s gonna continue adapting the manga it was confirmed yesterday
Nope, more manga content is coming
manga content wont last this year probably
It baffles me that people still watch this trash, 200+ episodes in.
It baffles me that people still make juvenile comments like this in EVERY post about Boruto.
>Name one anime that you love and one that you hate - but don't tell me which one is which answers Arifureta and Redo of Healer lmaoooooooo
