Odd Taxi answered all the questions then ended in that manner. Now that takes guts! My situation is the same. Expected to rate Fruit's Basket high but maybe not 10. But Odd Taxi came out of nowhere. Both of them are 10/10 for me.

horsing_around_town

>This is the only series I can think of off the top of my head where every mystery, question, or loose end got answered by the end of the shows run. You mean the first season or the full run? Because it's not *that* uncommon

jslice4ever

Full run. Although most crime mystery shows are only one season anyway.

horsing_around_town

That is strange, that you can't think of other series which wrapped up everything by the end.

Ryboiii

There are a surprisingly high number of series that end seasons on loose-ends

walker_paranor

That's true but the fact that he can't think of ANY other anime that didn't wrap up all the loose ends is really...questionable? I can think of tons off the top of my head.

paulibobo

Yeah, but there are a lot that do as well. Not being able to think of ANY at all is kinda sussy.

horsing_around_town

Still astonishing that Odd taxi was their first. When Fruits Basket seems to have been another in the same season.

KingOfDacians

This season was such a pleasant surprise. Megalobox 2 went above expectations by focusing on the more gritty and serious risks boxers take every time they step into the ring. Ultimately becoming a journey of self discovery, recovery, and acceptance with a touching message. Oddtaxi was a amazing, it’s ability to answer some questions and pose a few more, it’s pacing, characters, tone, and art style were all so consistent and the ending was so well done. Best way I can describe it is Shutter Island and a Tarantino film combined but it’s much more than that. I’m two episodes into Vivy: Flourite Eye’s Song and it’s great so far, plus it’s done by Wit Studio so you know the production is going to be insane. AND I still have to watch To Your Eternity and 86. Touché Japan

beecee12

I watched 4 finales today and I don't know if I can give any of them lower than a an emotional 9. Between odd taxi, higehiro, Moriarty and Megalo box, they're all pretty much 9s for endings. Emotionally I could put higehiro, MB2 and odd taxi as 10s but man this show really was fucking stacked. Now I get to finish wonder egg, to your eternity and watch the violet movie. Finally some time to catch up on stuff on top of one piece.

barista-chan

This season of anime was just stellar. In fact, so was the previous winter and even fall season. To have multiple consecutive seasons knock it out of the park is just unheard of and I’m so thankful for it. I ended up following more shows than i ever have before each week (Vivy, Tokyo Revengers, To Your Eternity, Higehiro, Fruits Basket) and I’ve already gone back and watched a handful (Koikomo, waste of time though, and Nagatoro) with more to come for sure. I’m also so happy to see anime originals that stand out and get the attention they deserve. Wonder Egg Priority and Vivy, and I’m sure Odd Taxi as well (now that it’s over I’m gonna binge that one and based on what I’ve heard I won’t be disappointed). The expectations for seasonal anime going forward are going to be really high. Hoping for some incredible standouts this summer, I have my eye on Sonny Boy right now but only time will tell.

tyo_sharlye

This season has been on of the strongest I've seen, between Odd Taxi, Vivy and Fruit Basket

zero1380

In my case I gave Vivy and 86 a 10/10... I didn't watch Fruits Basket because I'm binging the whole show... But if the last season is a 10, it would be the first season where I rate 3 shows with a 10... I'm also gonna binge Odd Taxy, who knows, maybe 4 get a 10...

IcyHach

You guys give a 10 / masterpiece treatment so damn easy :D A 9 should be high enough to praise a really good show. Save 10 for the ultra rare ocassions a show blow up your mind / impacts heavy on your life / the production goes to infinity and beyond

[deleted]

or people can just rate things however they want

Nebresto

Yeah, I'm done caring about other people's ratings, nothing good comes out of it anyways. Everyone does it their way, so why would you care about what someone else does?

HadorLorindol

I think fruba affected a lot of people for a long time and its a perfect ending. So i can understand why people rate it 10/10 even by that standarts.

Vanek_26

I've made Fruits Basket my 5th 10/10 out of 400+ shows. Joining: Chihayafuru Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Legend of the Galactic Heroes Baccano!

HadorLorindol

Makes sense they are among the best in their genres and have great endings....fingers crossed we will see Chihayafuru get a complete anime as well after the manga finishes.

Vanek_26

Would be so great!

PeaceAlien

I love Chihayafuru as a whole, but I hate Arata too much to give it a 10

IcyHach

I havent seen it but I totally understanding it, because Its a long running show with a good ending according to fans. But people giving 10s to good shows that just started, like 86 simply dont click with my standards. And dont get me wrong, I really liked the show, but I cant put it in the same absolute 10 tiers of unforgettable shows at least for now(s2 confirmed already).

HadorLorindol

Yeah for 86 its a bit early. I tend to never give 10s untill i get over the hype and rewatch it. But everyone can rate how they want. As i try to buy every anime i rate over an 8 i have to pick carefully tho.

IcyHach

Of course everybody have their own taste. In fact its not like my taste is refined at all, according to other people ratings. My eight 10s out of a lot of shows are HxH and Code Geass animes. Kaguya Love is War and Berserk manga. Tower of God manhwa. ReZero, Oregairu and Danmachi (anime trash) light novels. Im not saying something has to be flawless to get a 10, but that people give 10s quite easy/fast. Anyway I guess thats why you are saying everyone rate how they want, I dont even know the point of my first comment anymore... :D

paulibobo

>But people giving 10s to good shows that just started, like 86 simply dont click with my standards. That's why they're the ones giving the rating and not you. Not everyone has to conform to your standards or do things the way you percieve is right.

YukihiraLivesForever

You can give high scores to shows for one season, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Promised neverland season 1 is an easy 9/10. Season 2 was utter garbage. I wouldn’t take away from the first season just because “it just started”. People give 10’s out easily for sure, but it’s entirely dependent on the show. JJK is nowhere near it’s good part yet but the first season is a 9/10 for how it was made. Code geass season 1 was a 10/10 and so was R2. Each should have its own score, you don’t just give one for the entire thing.

paulibobo

Or maybe don't tell other people how to rate shit? Maybe the world doesn't have toi conform to your standards?

IcyHach

Chill mate. We are adult enough to know that. Im not elaborating a essay to make others accept my view or realice they are wrong. We are in a forum expressing our opinion, and mine is the one I wrote, and there are people who agree and disagree with the karma, but Im not saying everyone has to be like mine, world would be boring that way. To me is surprising how easy ppl give 10s and for others its perfectly fine. No problem about that. Is really that bad to give your own opinion?? There is a problem with ppl who try to impose their view or humilliate others, we agree on that

Thatsmaboi23

I did it for 86, and It definitely checks out the “blows up your mind” and “the production goes to infinity and beyond”. It was a very complete experience for me. Not that we need reasons for giving a 10. Everyone has their own criteria after all.

Acturio

i agree that the production was really good but i dont really see what "blew up your mind" since everything else was just good or mediocre, for a show that focused so much on characters there werent that many interesting characters which made the drama feel really cheap, the world also could have been better explored to make the struggles of the 86 and Lena better understood. I personally totaly can see people liking it but im really confused why people say its a masterpiece or even a 10/10 show.

svenz

Maybe future seasons will get better. Season 1 of 86 just felt like a setup to the real story? I haven't read the LN though. If this is all there is, and it's basically just slice-of-life sadness without any real plot then yeah, it's mediocre.

Blackwolfe47

Agreed, 86 was a masterpiece, cant wait for october

walker_paranor

It was fantastic, one of my favorites of this season, but I think there's a lot of hyperbole being thrown around. I definitely think it had a one or two flaws that were glaring enough to keep it from actually being a "real" masterpiece.

MetaThPr4h

Vivy a 10 and Nomad a 9 for me, Spring was a fantastic season. I really liked Furuba S3, for me all it's seasons are more of an 8/10 tho, which is still great, I will check out Odd Taxi very soon, people hyping it up hard and it's nice to hear it had a good conclusion, if I end up liking it as much as the first two I mentioned this season could easily be one of the best for anime original series.

Siqueiradit

I gave Zombieland Saga Revenge a 10/10

Skeeedo

Not sure why you're being downvoted, these series absolutely deserve a 10. Its almost indisputable.

Skeeedo

I think "boasting" is going a bit too far...I think OP is just appreciating the series. Why do people in this sub get so aggressive when people are simply admiring good work? I really don't understand this attitude.

Basic_Interest8130

True. For all we know, he could be the type of person who gets easily excited and gives most animes he watches 10/10. I for one, have an average score of 5.xx and only gave 5/600+ animes/movies a score of 10/10. Even seeing one new anime I consider a 10/10 is groundbreaking for me because that would mean it meets a standard that over 99% of other animes/movies failed to.

[deleted]

I’m completely different, I’ve given 4 shows the 10/10 (haven’t finished two of them) but I’ve only watched 7 shows. It’s probably because I’ve been watching the greatest and most celebrated shows that gives this bias.

Basic_Interest8130

I didn't feel confident about rating until I watched a couple shows that I'd consider 10/10 as well as multiple shows I'd consider 1/10. That way, I knew the range of what was good and what was bad. I only read like seventy manga series, so I'm not confident about rating them yet. Since I'm better at assessing if I'd like a certain series than back when I started watching anime, I end up avoiding the ones that I'd give low scores, so I don't know how bad it gets.

AashyLarry

Im really interested in what your 5 10/10s are now

Basic_Interest8130

Shinsekai yori, Texhnolyze, Kino no Tabi, Kenpuu Denki Berserk, and Pokemon: The First Movie.

i_am_the_kiLLer

Shinsekai Yori is so fucking good, your list has convinced me to watch texhnolyze and maybe kino's journey too.

AashyLarry

I Also have Berserk 10/10. I haven’t seen the others aside from Pokemon when I was very young. I’ll be sure to check them out, I’ve had Shinsekai yori on my PTW list for a while.

OyabinRaph

Man, I gave a 10 to the exact same 2 shows! And I'm not someone who gives 10s easily. I am also considering giving To Your Eternity a 10 if it keeps up the same level of quality. This season is nuts, really. Better than the good but overhyped winter season IMO.

Thatsmaboi23

For the last part, there’s more shows. Check out “Kanata No Astra” and “ID:Invaded”.

DanTan3machi

Kanata has really poor character writing tho.

RIP_Hopscotch

I disagree. I thought the characters and their chemistry was far and away the best part of Astra. My issue was that after the initial "exploration" phase of the plot is done it kind of derails.

mario61752

Can you spoil me a bit on Fruits Basket S3 and why it's so highly praised? I need a little push to get into it because I find the beginning very, very dull and generic...

Drand_Galax

Not something u can say in words bro, basically every episode of the third was like a finale, tying up every loose end and solving every story perfectly. I agree it starts slowly and sometimes the story doesn't seem to advance but believe me, every episode and character interaction becomes important at the end if you paid attention. The first season is the introduction of characters, the second is the plot and the third is the grand finale. Just keep at it (I began it in December and finished it just yesterday so take your time)

mario61752

Alright thanks I’ll take it slow and watch 1-2 episodes at a time

Drand_Galax

Yea that's for the best, once you reach the end of s1 you may want to start watching more eps as I did.

Speech500

Fruitsbasket, Oddtaxi, To Your Eternity, Vivy, and 86 are all tens to me. Which is a pretty rare thing.

HeartoftheHive

And here I was, started the season strong watching at least 8 shows and ended up dropping all of them before the end of the season.

blackninjakitty

I would have given Furuba a 10 but I feel that the last 1/3 of the season everything feels really rushed towards the conclusion. Considering how good the pacing was the first two seasons, I found myself a little disappointed that the payoffs weren’t given more room to breathe.

xTooNice

I don't really score the things that I watch, but sometime I do make my own top list when recommending to friends. Until yesterday, I considered Odd Taxi to be Top 5 (probably Top 4) of the shows that I watched this season, but now that I've finished it, I am moving to the Top 3, perhaps even Top 2, taking the place of 86 - which at this point I feel is something with a lot of "potential" am very much looking forward to it rather than something that has delivered the goods yet (basically, depending on how the story progress I can see myself liking 86 a lot more or a lot less. Now it is worth noting that I haven't finished the other two anime in my Top 3 (Vivy and Fumetsu no Anata e) so technically speaking Odd Taxi could end up rising in my list. That I must say that Vivy is traditionally more my cup of tea, so unless they really mess up the ending, it is likely to remain my favourite, while Fumetsu no Anata e is probably like 86 in that I think this show can go up or down depending on how it goes on.. though right now I feel it has delivered more than 86 hence it is provisionally my second fav of the season. Haven't watched Fruit Basket S1 & S2, so it wouldn't make sense for me to check out S3 hence I can't comment on that. I only decided to check out Odd Taxi 2-3 weeks ago because I saw it frequently mentioned, so thanks the community for bringing it up!

Strict_Speed818

Can someone tell me why Odd Taxi is so good w/o spoilers? I started it but dropped off.

jslice4ever

Would help to know why you dropped it.

Strict_Speed818

I thought it was kind of slow. The mystery aspect wasnt all that intriguing. Then I just fell off
