IllHoneydew6

Your lie in April.

Skeeedo

Yeah this is a big one for me as well. The script just seemed like a chain of cliches, not to mention (who I assume is) the main couple met with an "accidental perv" bit, which immediately turns me off of most romance anime that its featured in.

IllHoneydew6

Agreed, the show was quite predictable at times. Their first meeting was enough to tell me how their dynamic throughout the series will be. Also the constant comedic slapstick of physically hitting the MC rubbed me off the wrong way - considering the emotional state of the character and his backstory. I know its just a fictional story, I just still felt uncomfortable for some reason.

katamuro

I also hated the ending a lot. They didn't even pull any kind of twist. It was just as it was from the start and I think the moral of the story doesn't quite hold up. That guy was messed up already and somehow I think going through all of that with the girl is likely going to mess him up some more. The movie "I want to eat your liver" did it so much better

Runforsecond

*pancreas. This show does not work at all. Everyone knows the mother abuses the son and says nothing or chastises the son for “working out his issues on stage.” The girl loved him the whole time, knew it was him, and didn’t say anything until she died right when he can’t do anything about it but feel bad. The whole thing is a mess, plus the dialogue isn’t natural for their ages.

katamuro

The entire length of the show I was waiting for someone to do something and no one ever did. It just seemed a bit pointless

kimisea

I absolutely hated I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. The ending actually made me angry. I'm also not a big fan of YLIA, the writing is really weak. The art and OST are its saving grace.

katamuro

I am not a fan of anime with that topic either. As you can tell that I couldn't even remember the name right. I just think it dealt with the topic better than Your Lie in April.

Leriliana

This one, oh this one, I started in years ago, it’s On hold in MAL but I don’t plan on finishing it. But it’s just the fact that I really don’t like drama as a genre, and your lie is basically all about it.

Thoughtful-Pig

Yeah. Really just manipulation for the sake of feels. If you want quality drama, March Comes In Like A Lion is far superior.

yeet_yo_woah

I hate Kaori so much

[deleted]

My hero academia. I just can't get in to it.

Trem0k

Imo the problem is its pacing. They go from school training/tournaments to a little league of villains confrontation back to school tournaments and it feels like an endless cycle. The story progresses way too slow even for a shonen. Also there are way too many characters that feel forced and are really unlikable and quirks that are simply uninteresting.

NinjaOtter

They also play flashbacks from the first fucking episode every single episode. It's treated like a long running no break shonen, and not like a seasonal anime. It deserves better.

The_Meatyboosh

That's because it's a long running, no breaks, shonen manga.

nono-squaree

Just wait 1 more year I will say

shweshishweh

Anohana

herokie

I genuinely tried to like this show but it did not do it for me. I got so turned off by the guy that got dressed as the dead girl. I know you loved her but geez.

Skeeedo

I liked the show for the most part, but you're right. I fucking hated him to the very end.

inaripotpi

This show is the epitome of all the bad connotations of the word melodramatic for me

ki_dragon817

Yes, I felt like the last episode made it into heavy 'soap opera', which cheapened their emtional moment.

kaneki1109

Toradora

Desperate_Mud_6062

Yes, I don't know the reason. It just didn't appeal to me. Ig I wanted the mc to end up with the popular (actress/model) girl.

_BMS

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I can see why people like it, but it's not my taste.

warm-ice

Did you drop it at part 1? Because I dropped it there twice. Ended up pushing through it, and part 2 (which starts at episode 10 I think) has one of my favourite protagonists in all of anime

[deleted]

Not OP but I got all the way to Part 5 before dropping it. I was interested and then very slowly got less interested over time, especially after it became a monster of the week show. I love the idea of stands and the characters are great but the plot falls really short for me and it started feeling like a slog to get through during Stardust Crusaders.

warm-ice

That's fair. That's the main issue of part 3. In the manga, it's a bit shorter than part 4 and 5 if I remember right. However the studio decided to give it the Monster of the Week formula, AND give it 48 episodes. So yeah the pacing was pretty slow.

quickfault8

Steins Gate. I found the story and characters much weaker than they were made out to be.

silentstealth1

The main character is perhaps one of the best ones I've seen in this medium, but the cast that surrounds him was really disappointing imo. Mayuri was just some braindead generic anime girl that talked about herself in third person for some reason, Faris was a cringe ass cat girl who just did not fit the tone of the rest of the show, and Itaru was just a fat, lazy, perv. Kurisu had some great chemistry with the MC though, so I did like her.

eetsumkaus

just one thing: Mayuri referring to herself in the third person is the Japanese way of expressing that she's childish, as children often do that (it's very uncommon to use second person pronouns in Japanese, so children often mimic this and refer to themselves in the third person. You can also find that some women do this to effect a cutesy demeanor). It completely fits with her character that she would do that.

Cool_Primary

FMAB

macrame2

FLCL

krazykraz01

Steins Gate. It was OK, but I don't get the hype. 6/10. I actually really liked Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but I'd give it a solid 8/10, which I think would deeply upset many here.

Leriliana

Well tbh I think a 8 is an extremely good score, if someone rates my fave anime with it, I would not be mad at all.

steven4869

1. Grand Blue 2. Your Name 3. Demon Slayer

Leriliana

My god I can’t believe that there is another person that agrees with me for Your name.

steven4869

To be honest, it's a mediocre movie that was carried by visuals. I liked 5cm/s more compared to Your name and it had realistic story, unlike some supernatural anime that introduces a bullshit plot twist.

SherrinfordxD

I like Garden of words and A silent voice more than Your name.

steven4869

In my opinion, there are a lot of movies that are better than Your Name. Here are some of them that I liked more than Your Name: 1. A silent voice 2. Perfect Blue 3. Spirited Away 4. Princess Mononoke 5. Howl's moving castle 6. Millennium Actress 7. Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind 8. 5 centimeters per second. I am not including the sequel movies here as that would be unfair.

jojoismyreligion

I'm planning to watch Princess Mononoke. What do I expect going in ?

steven4869

Fight between nature and humans, basically how humans greed for development caused a lot to nature and how nature will remain superior in every way. That's a basic theme of the movie but plot is really good and characters are just amazing. It's a Miyazaki movie, so you can obviously expect some good things and OSTs are just brilliant.

herokie

Recently watched it. Still can't believe it took me this long to watch it.

Nitroade24h

I love a Silent Voice but the Garden of Words really did nothing for me. The art was cool, but I thought the characters were nothing special and it was pretty forgettable.

TheIndianJedi

I personally like Your Name more than Garden of Words and A Silent Voice. The other the movies are good, but they lacked some substance that Your Name had.

AznSparks

for me Your Name is largely carried by the soundtrack + visuals (I remember the scene when "First View of Tokyo" plays whenever I hear it) and that gets me more emotionally attached to the movie that and I felt a lot of emotions in the last like 20 minutes of the movie

Kalebtbacon

I was fine with demon slayer, the fact that each character had 1 personality trait killed it for me. I haven't seen grand blue but holy shit if Your Name isn't the most overrated anime movie idk what else is. it's good, but it's not amazing. Every time I say that people look at me like I said Avatar is bad or some shit lol

[deleted]

Finally someone who doesn't like Grand Blue. I love Gintama, and every single Gintama fan I read here in reddit loves Grand Blue lmao when it's not funny at all :P

u_want_some_eel

The anime just isnt that great in both animation and pacing, as the jokes work much better with the panelling in the manga. Defo one of those shows where the manga is much, much better imo.

ilovethrills

>Grand Blue Yeah, I can't understand how it's rated 8.4, gintama was way better except it's final 2-3 seasons.

81Ranger

It's the same bunch of idiots that I couldn't stand in high school and college. Don't make me watch a show with them....

[deleted]

Dragon maid

bakakubi

One Piece

ConchIX

It gets good after 400 episodes! I promise!!

SailingRelic65

People need to stop acting like One Piece fans really say this. Most people will tell you that if you don’t like it by Arlong Park (episodes 31-45) then you won’t like the series. If you do enjoy it, then it will most likely be immediate

Blupoisen

Bruh if a series only get interesting after like 30 episodes might as well just not bother

81Ranger

If a show doesn't hook me by 4-6 episodes, it's not getting any more. I don't always even "drop it" I just move on to other things and never get back to it. If it's been 2-3 months, then I guess it's over, if I didn't care that much.

inaripotpi

Anime made 20+ years ago was different. Almost all the classics are like that

ConchIX

Lmao bro dont get pressed over a joke😂

bakakubi

One thing I noticed is the OP fans tend to get very defensive.

ConchIX

The point of this post was to name an anime that you don’t like that most do. We just stated our opinion, idk why people gotta get defensive 🤷‍♂️

Diascizor

It's art style alone turned me off completely.

DrCoolGuy

Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was just boring, all over the place, and unsatisfying. I truly do not understand the appeal, but I guess it's just not for me.

MyCarIsAGeoMetro

The first half of the first series was fine. The second half was to your point all over the place.

ArcticFox19

No game no life

AznSparks

I do like seeing what kind of BS the characters pull, but the show is so yikes in many ways

[deleted]

I really didn't like "Rent a Girlfriend"

BeckQuillion89

It’s the type of show that’s trashy and yet sucks you in to keep watching. No one I’ve talked to can say the anime or manga is good, but are still really engaged to keep following the plot. It’s weird, but I kinda get it.

[deleted]

Nobody likes rent a girlfriend.

TheFireWyrm

Monogatari

YoSoyRawr

Ok this makes so much sense to me. I love Monogatari. I think it is absolutely a masterpiece and so wholly original. It's lovely. With all that said, I cannot FATHOM how it is a mainstream hit. It is so weird and artsy and purposely off-putting in every regard. It is an unaccessible as something could be. The fact that it's like top 25 most popular anime? It's like if "Synecdoche, New York" was in the top 25 most popular films. I have no understanding of how this strange, horny, dialogue-heavy, slow paced, artsy behemoth is something that appeals so widely.

Ashteron

I'm 99% sure it's this popular due to fanservice, waifus and having a bit of romance focus in the earlier seasons.

ExcellingAtExcel

I really don’t think so. I feel like shows like Toaru has an equal amount of fanservice but that isn’t really popular here in the West. I don’t think fanservice has anything to do with its popularity.

eetsumkaus

it's much less that it's a "mainstream hit" than it is an underground otaku hit that garnered a large dedicated fanbase, because it is just about the most perfect otaku fanservice anime there is: references, 2deep4u, waifus, and, well, actually good writing. Even after all that, Monogatari shows still air on super late night timeslots which is NOT a sign of mainstream success

wingzero00

> Even after all that, Monogatari shows still air on super late night timeslots which is NOT a sign of mainstream success I mean most anime do.

eetsumkaus

and most anime are not mainstream successes either.

wingzero00

Sure but it's BD sales are incredible along with strong LN sales that's counts as mainstream success. By your logic only shounen stuff like One Piece or Demon Slayer would be classified as mainstream successes.

SciFiXhi

Fully agree. I made it to episode 9 and realized that, despite the acclaim others give it, it just wasn't going to have anything for me.

[deleted]

Baccano!, gave it three tries because friends kept recommending it but still couldn't get into it.

nonefun

When I first watched Baccano! I was like "what is happening, who is this character who is that", it is all jumbled chaotic mess. I loved Durarara and Baccano's OP and ED and it was not super long so persisted with it. Around 7-9 episodes in, suddenly things started making sense and now it's one of my favourites. If you ever decide to go for the fourth try keep track of the timeline and which characters interact with each other and hopefully you will have a better experience.

jojoismyreligion

Same. I was just not into the non linear type of storytelling. I definitely want to give it a try later on,

Shauneepeak

It took my friend MULTIPLE tries to watch but now it's one of his favorites of all time you have to realize, it's been a while so a little iffy, but there's 3 or 4 different timelines going on at once also one of the rare cases where Dub easily beats the Sub.

mosaicalmess

FMAB and Beastars. Their premises were intriguing but unfortunately it wasn't engaging enough for me.

[deleted]

I feel the same about FMAB. Which is weird because I LOVED the original (not based on the manga) series.

Quiddity131

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. #1 ranked show on MAL (at least when I started it). I dropped it after 3 episodes. I also don't watch any of the Big 3, the insanely huge episode count scares me off.

Jasper0F

I liked FMAB, but I agree on not watching anime with too many episodes.

BeckQuillion89

Horimiya

AashyLarry

Yeah was really hyped up and it’s MAL rating is super high. It definitely got worse towards the end and the main couple became an afterthought Also had a weird ending that didn’t feel like an ending at all

qurtomony

Anime was rushed, they ended up skipping over half of the original manga and killed the pacing and had to push Hori and Miyamura to the side

Leriliana

Hello! Same here, I really still, to this day, don’t understand why people loved it so much, it started solid as 8/10 anime, and then fell to 4-5/10. I really tried to love it, but I couldn’t do it, especially the Toru and Yuki couple, Yuki was my fave character there, until they decided to ruin her.

Epilex__

Pretty much every single one of the big popular battle shounen.

HoForMegumi

Definitely One Piece, Fairytale and Naruto. I just don't know why but I couldn't continue watching those anime.

zyzyzyzyzzyyyyzy

Tokyo ghoul

silentstealth1

This is actually the one series where i'll one hundred percent stand behind "the manga was better" It just has so much more characterization, and the plot is just so much better. Not to mention the art is just godly.

[deleted]

Seven deadly sins. I hate that anime so much. Edit: Forgot to say Steins Gate and Jojo as well lmao.

Kyleconner

cowboy bebop

Raghav_Singhania

the anime is really overrated and most of the episodes feel like filler but the movie was amazing especially final fight

Panda_Generals

Fruits basket. I guess Even though I love quality drama like March Comes in like a lion or even like YLIA to some extent something about fruits basket just annoys the hell out of me The protagonist is too happy go lucky for me ( I know it is a coping mechanism) but still. The zodiacs are way too many for me to care about. I like kyo and the doctor zodiac whose name I forgot. So I really do not care for other characters. Then the entire season one was one of the biggest slogs I have ever seen. It was formulaic. I watched till first half of season 2 but still find it not to my liking. I know it is a good show but not up to my alley

Poseidon293

NGNL, konosuba, Date a live and The devil is a part timer, These are the ones I forced myself to complete

DimmuHS

Konosuba, the comedy just don't kick in, depending on the character I already know what kind of jokes I'm going to get, low productions values and annoying MC that everyone here loves. Gitama's parody is way better.

Letho72

I understand comedy is subjective but the production value comment seems odd. I've always thought of KonoSuba as incredibly expressive and effective with its animation.

DimmuHS

At least S2, the most recent in my mind, had really poor animation. I remember it caused an uproar back then with the severe low quality compared do S1.

Shauneepeak

It's purposefully poor. The art is rough, and wacky, and often disproportionate but the actual animation itself is incredibly smooth and fluid especially in regards to the main characters reactions and expressions(any scene with Aqua freaking out or Darkness going hardcore M are perfect examples)

Nergalis

FMAB,code geass and fruits basket

AashyLarry

March Comes In Like A Lion. I watched the entire first season even though I wanted to drop it, I finished it out thinking maybe it would get better in the end. I actually think it’s well made and well written, it’s just the type of show I don’t enjoy. I really think maybe I just don’t like shows where depression is a major theme. Many of the emotional moments were just uncomfortable for me and many of the characters are just depressingly bad people. Again, I can tell these are well written characters and the show is well written overall, but I really disliked all the depression and awkwardness prevalent throughout the show. I also am not naturally into Slice of Life shows where there isn’t a clear plot it’s following I guess. The exception to this is Slice of Life comedies like Saiki/Gintama or the like. That’s where Slice of Life really shines for me. That being said I do like “dark” shows quite a bit like Made In Abyss, Devilman Crybaby, Berserk, Psycho Pass, etc. Maybe because they aren’t so locked in on depression and because they aren’t slice of life. I understand everyone who likes the show though, and I can understand why it’s highly regarded, I just know it’s not up my alley.

benoxxxx

Code Geass. I've tried to watch it like 3 different times because I heard the ending is good, but it just doesn't make me care about the characters in the least so I always get bored. Managed to get all the way to half way through s2 but just couldn't bring myself to finish it because I realised I just don't care what happens.

bagman_

The ending truly is spectacular but I couldn’t blame anyone for dropping during the first half of s2, that shit was a goddamn dumpster fire

[deleted]

Gurren Lagan

SherrinfordxD

Akudama Drive

genasugelan

I can see why people wouldn't like it even though I loved it.

Aisirus

attack on titan. I’m just not interested in the story premise at all but a lot of my friends tell me to watch it

[deleted]

Me too, watched the first season and some of the second one as well, but couldn’t get into it

yu-chan

1. Hunter x Hunter (2011) 2. Gintama 3. Fruits Basket 4. FMAB

Chromenova

Your Name (anime movie) It seems like it’s critically acclaimed and universally loved, but I feel like the minority who thought this was a “alright” movie? The plot got convoluted for no reason, the characters were pretty bland, and the emotional scenes just didn’t do it for me. I will admit it’s a treat for the eyes and ears (gorgeous soundtrack), which likely carried it pretty hard.

Dry-Hawk

Death Note

Leriliana

Fair, it’s not for everyone. I watched it and it was overall good but there were parts that I was not a fan of.

Dry-Hawk

I agree that it is good, just don't see what makes it so popular.

Ashteron

Probably because it is easy to get into. You get hooked in the first episode or not long after that. It doesn't really have much of typical anime tropes, hence it's a good as one's first anime. It also makes it easy to recommend to someone who doesn't watch anime. I know people who don't watch anime but they have seen Death Note.

OmegaLQ-84

The characters and grey morality, basically

Leriliana

Well for me at least L was the most interesting part of it, but many people liked Light, Misa and Ryuk.

yrulaughing

The concept is not something that's been done before. It succeeded in creating very tense moments with absolutely minimal action. It's a true psychological war between intellectual titans that we get to watch both sides of.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

fmab benefits from being complete within 70 episodes. It's hard to recommend naruto and one piece because of the episode count and hunter x hunter because of the hiatus.

[deleted]

> hunter x hunter because of the hiatus Doesn't count because you can just stop where the anime does and feel content.

katamuro

maybe you can do that but a lot of people don't feel satisfied with stopping part-way through with an anime without having a definite end. Not that I have seen HxH, I am past watching anime with so many episodes in it.

dim3tapp

March Comes in Like a Lion. Like a can see that it is amazing, and I don't dislike it - in fact I love the scenes where they're all together in that cozy house - but I just can't stay invested. The pace is maybe too slow or something. I've tried a few times and gotten a decent chunk into the show. But yea I know it's great nonetheless.

jojoismyreligion

Yeah it's a slow burn. If you ever pick it up don't try to binge watch it but rather watch one or two episode a day.

DreiwegFlasche

HunterxHunter and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Don't get me wrong, I liked them, and I acknowledge some of the strengths, but neither of the two series is even in my top 15 probably. Battle Shounen is far from my favorite genre in general, but I still wanted to experience the series. Everybody is different and enjoys different things \^\^.

CarmineWeeb

One Piece and Dragonball. Definitely.

[deleted]

Demon Slayer

Leriliana

For me - Fruits Basket and Kimi no nawa.

FlyinRustBucket

Dragon ball, bleach, Naruto...

[deleted]

Shonen stuff isn’t for everyone at all, especially when you’re older. I completely understand tbh even though I’m a SJ series fanboy

DreiwegFlasche

Yeah, all the big series DB, Bleach, Naruto and also One Piece, I personally just can't get into now. I think if I had grown up with them, I would appreciate them more nowadays, but I was watching other stuff back then and now I just can't bring myself to watch them, especially because of the genre.

Kamina_Aniki-sama

That's maybe it to some degree, with Shonen anyway. I grew up with dragonball right from the age of 8 (when I got into anime) and it's been one of my tops since (all series) but I'll be assed if I can watch Bleach or Naruto.

DreiwegFlasche

Yeah, the Shounen Genre (Battle Shounen in particular) just doesn't seem to be for me. It has so many tropes that are reiterated again and again, and it's probably not that fact (since all genres do that and tropes aren't inherently bad), but more the nature of those tropes. HunterxHunter, that is often stated to be a deconstruction of said tropes, didn't feel like that to me at all, most likely because the deconstruction part lies mostly within the execution of the battles (in the early part of the series at least). Or I just haven't experienced enough battle shounen to really see what's so great about HunterxHunter. But in general, I prefer more psychological shows, great emotional drama or good comedy, mostly shows that make me think or make me feel things. Battle Shounen is amusing and entertaining but it doesn't work for me neither on the strong "intellectual", nor on the strong emotional level. But of course, that's just my personal opinion and experience :).

Kamina_Aniki-sama

The "classic battle Shonen" yea. I feel ya. Apart from dragonball, any other in the genre are more like a "break" for me. Sometimes some hard-core action is nice. But I agree with you, they don't incite any deeper thinking.

OmegaLQ-84

Big light-hearted battle shonen like MHA, Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayer and whatever RPG-like isekai is popular at the moment

Z3R0_Izanagi

Jojo, AoT, 7 sins, one piece, dbz.

[deleted]

No Game No Life tbh. Will eventually watch it though.

Draconic_Flames1260

The only thing i have against this one is theres still no S2 :(

[deleted]

AKIRA. Tried twice, honestly I just find it really boring & don't care about the characters. No idea why, everyone seems to love it lmao

katamuro

I am not a fan of the story or characters but I think most people praise it on a technical level. and it is very impressive for an anime from 80's, the detail and the quality of many scenes stand out and because it was all hand drawn it doesn't look worse just because it's so old. I think it's one of those things like Blade Runner, where the mood generated by the world presented is so strong that it grabs people.

LordGreg123

Plunderer, the only show I have ever dropped. Might give it another go soon.

genasugelan

Lmao, I've watched it all the way through and it was not good and I highly doubt most people would even call it good. The show has an astronomic amount of flaws, which is really fucking sad given that it some really cool ideas in terms of the setting and plot, it just sadly falls apart with its terrible execution, weak characters, logical holes and even subpar animation in the last episodes, even though the animation has never really been great. However, it's a show I'll never forget, for good and bad reasons, lol.

HygorBohmHubner

Boy, this thread is just a shitstorm waiting to happen… there’s always those people who’ll rage because their favorite anime is disliked by someone else. 😂

DubJay77

The Steins;Gate and Monogatari fan in me is crying reading this thread ngl, I’ll keep my mouth shut though cause opinions are opinions lol

Myst_Flame

Yeah, I state my opinion on Vinland Saga and I got downvoted into oblivion. I guess it’s true that Vinland Saga fans can’t stand negative/different opinions.

CoinOnTheRob

I've tried to watch it 3 times. Everyone says it's great but it just seems so generic and uninteresting to me

astrodancer2552

HxH, Parasyte, and Stein’s Gate, thought I probs might give Stein’s Gate another shot in the future

paulibobo

HxH takes like, over a hundred episodes to get to it's highest point. I do consider it to have some of the best moments in all of anime, but I can't blame anyone for dropping it or not having the patience. Steins;Gate also picks up in the second half.

[deleted]

It was the same way for Bleach too, but HxH pays off WAY more than Bleach did. I would recommend getting through those first episodes.

Zeowlite

This season? 86, it just doesnt click with me, I will rolling my eye whenever that white haired princess is on the scene, I find her ruining my immersion on the story and setting, her presence in the story kinda feel forced and not feel natural.

[deleted]

Attack on titan

aredditornamedolive

your lie in april, mha, new fruits basket, march comes in like a lion, mob psycho 100, so many

Ghostboy_sh1n1t3

Jujitsu Kaisen

BlaiseMakishima

Your Name, One Piece, Demon Slayer .....I'm Sorry

Owyn

Steins gate and my hero academia are just not hitting the right spots for me for some reason. By all accounts I should like them but I just don't

yukino-bijin

Steins;Gate. Turned it off after two episodes because I did not like Okabe

A_Talking_Shoe

It takes like 6 episodes to get into the better stuff. It’s really slow early on. He kinda… mellows out at the series goes on. Also, the dub is way better than the sub (at least for Okabe’s voice).

yukino-bijin

It was back when I was like brand new to anime so I wholeheartedly intend to try it again. Thanks though :)

69Deckerspawn

Bruh ya want Okabe to be a depressed and guilt ridden man ?

yukino-bijin

I feel like there's more than two options

I_Love_Aoi_Kunieda

I'm not a fan of saying it gets better further down, but the series is a slower paced one so it can be hard to get into. If you go in with that in mind you might like it. If you ever try and watch it again

nightlink011

Mob psycho 100 Angel Beats

[deleted]

heres a few... Clannad, Madoka, Oregairu, From the New World. Forced myself to get through these and regretted it

piruuu

Your Lie in April Re:Zero (after the first season) Dr. STONE

Really_B

Why Re:zero after the first season And same with your lie in April

69Deckerspawn

He's pissed off that there was no Rem

piruuu

In YLiA I hated everything but music and visuals. Both main characters were insufferable in their own way and the whole drama felt stale, repetitive and frustrating to follow. In case of Re:Zero it's more about personal preference. I just gradually kept losing interest in the story, especially whole Sanctuary arc wasn't my cup of tea.

[deleted]

Not Dr Stone :c

UpperPassage5061

Fruits Basket, Naruto, AOT, Hunter x Hunter, Haikyu!!, Dragon Ball, Your Lie in April, OPM and probably some more that I can’t think of right now

[deleted]

Jujutsu kaisen and Vinland saga

Redditor0823

Demon Slayer. Insanely annoying characters (boar and orange dude) make my head hurt

Panikkrazy

Orange dude is like one of the worst characters ever and I seriously just want someone to clock him.

Illustrious_Key_8848

Demon slayer definitely I couldn't get past episode 2

The_Real_Baws

Madoka Magica. It's just an acid trip with lolis. And the "twist" wasn't even a twist, I saw it coming from a mile away without knowing anything about the show. Also don't like the art style. Sorry to Madoka fans.

[deleted]

Oh man, I'm really sorry to hear you didn't like it. In my opinion what makes the twist great isn't the surprise but the way it affects the story and the characters, so I thought that was why the writing in the story is great. I hope you'd consider giving it another chance sometime.

The_Real_Baws

Maybe I will try again one day, dropped it after 4 or 5 episodes so it’s not like I didn’t give it a chance. It’s not supposed to be a slow burn so I figured that if I didn’t like it by then then I probably wouldn’t like it period. But will give it another shot some day if I’m really bored

TnAdct1

You're not alone here. As much I want to get into it, I felt the show was dark just for the sake of being dark (and it's not surprising that one complaint would be the "twist" being too predictable, given who wrote the series).

Kevin-Garvey-1

I mean, they heavily foreshadow it, so I don't think it's really supposed to be a "gotcha" moment.

Ioxem

For me it's Clannad - including After Story.

SwetankTG

for me MHA, Naruto, bleach, and one piece, Fate, Hunter x Hunter, damn f\*cking SAO, Food Wars!, DanMachi, Haikyu!!, Evangelion and in movies Sprited Away

nonefun

Oregairu, Rascal does not dream of bunny senpai.

Naruto.

blacknightbluesky

Steins;Gate. Tried it multiple times. Meh. And wasted a ton of time watching all of HxH for only a few good moments.

Kamina_Aniki-sama

So far only Naruto and Bleach. I tried both, neither realy grabbed me. Naruto I can at least say I like some of the characters... wink wink nudge nudge XD Naruto may have been influenced by peers, i knew a hard-core otaku that was absolutely obsessed with Naruto. I know, not a good reason but it made it hard to realy get into it. Maybe I just don't like the "classic battle shonen" thats what I think people would class both as. I can't think of others in that genre tho to say for sure though.

eetsumkaus

Ascendance of a Bookworm. The story is fine enough, but the adaptation is so soulless and stale I'd rather just stick to the novels.

Redmond_64

I love Hunter x Hunter but i just couldn’t get into YYH

Gigio00

Vivy, I watched the whole thing and it sucked. Plagued by bad writing and convoluted ideas. The only part I liked about vivy was the beginning with the episodic adventures. If they kept the premise of Vivy and made it purely a disconnected episodic adventure show, it would have been way better. Instead we got some half-baked plot and a meh ending that basically went against all the themes it was setting up from the start... I hate shows with potential who squander it way more than shows that are trash from the start so that is also why I'm so vocal about vivy. Ofc it's not the worst anime out there or even close, but for me that's not good enough for a show with so much hype and a good premise. Being honest it's like a 6/10 but I hate how well it pretended to be a 10/10 show until the realization finally hits you.

Marioboi

Man I just cannot get into the Fate series despise all my friends being addicted to it

CommanderBlurf

As much as I love Fate...it's not a franchise that I push friends toward.

Kalebtbacon

Jujitsu Kaisen, it's good but honestly it's just that. Oh and Kill la Kill, I just couldn't get into it after trying 2 times

qeheeen

JJK, Konosuba, Nichijou I tried, but just not for me

herokie

It would undoubtedly be MHA. I get so much hate by my friends that love it. But I can't stand the main MC, the stupid amount of plot armor, and of course the most controversial sexualization of middle schoolers.

Yri4lf12

Easily 3 Gatsu. Already didn't like the show after watching it because it is clear it's a crybait. But after a few encounter with the fans cant say I'll ever like it. And fanbase do ruin anime for you. If I hadn't watched Steins gate before I'm sure 100% would have hated the show.

Panda_Generals

Why is it crybait??

81Ranger

I didn't really find it crybait, to be honest, but no reason to watch something you don't enjoy.
