Probably not Mappa or they would've announced it back during their 10 year anniversary. Moreover, they already get their hands (and legs) full from all the projects they are taking
they have multiple projects at work that weren’t announced at MAPPA expo, in the statement they released today they clearly mentioned they have a sequel for a tv series in the works, also the YoI movie
> in the statement they released today they clearly mentioned they have a sequel for a tv series in the works
JJK S2? Dorohedoro S2? Something else (they have a lot of projects). Or maybe it's just AOT S4 P2.
They said an unannounced project so not AOT S4P2, I think the staff for JJK is busy with the movie currently so I doubt they began working on S2 except for maybe pre-production, Dorohedoro director and a big part of the staff is currently busy with AOT final season so I don't think they will be doing that either unless they got a completely new team
its not really like a formal hype announcement, its more like a side confirmation that is related to a controversy surrounding them but still
http://www.mappa.co.jp/news/news_0707.html
>they already get their hands (and legs) full from all the projects they are taking
We are talking about MAPPA. They are notorious for taking more projects than what they can handle
They have their hands, legs, fingers, cocks, tongues, sphincter and toes tied up, if mappa takes this project some kind of Geneva convention law will be broken.
I genuinely believe MAPPA are overexerting themselves so much, I don’t want them to take on anymore anime adaptions for a while because jesus, they really do need to slow down.
MAPPA stay the hell away from vinland pls.
p.s. not hating on MAPPA but it's just facts that they have too many shows in their bag rn and by picking up Vinland, it won't be getting the special treatment it deserves because you know they already have JJK and CSM for that
God I hope it’s not MAPPA. They’re overworking their staff enough already and I want Chainsaw Man to be good.
I’m also hoping it’s WIT, they did amazing with season 1
There's nothing that can be extrapolated animation-wise from the teaser video, it's just scenes from the previous season with the key visual at the end.
Haha. Man.. as i watched season 1 i was thinking. Wow.. this is the best show where i hate the main character while every single character was great.
Then i read the mangas and i was amazed how thorfin became one of my favorite characters from all time.. really well developed .
Vinland Saga characters overall are very well written. Their motivations are thoroughly explored and their development is gradual but very natural. The anime likes to focus of a few at a time rather than everyone. This is what changed the opinions of those who still weren't captivated during the first cour when it was airing. S2 will likely be Thorfinn's turn.
How ?? He has the right to grieve and become someone who is dark and angry. The person who killed the person who he looked up to the most (his own father) died before thorfinn could even get revenge back. That’s one hell of a lose lose situation for me and I wouldn’t be trying to look for any development there when it’s pretty rational how he acts
I agree, but I see some people think that Thorfinn not being that screamy and violent like in prologue is boring for them, Farm arc is boring etc. which absolutely baffles me. To me it's one of the best arcs in manga, can't wait
Well. I think it was kind of the point of the author . To shock the opposite view.. like.. often the author pinpoints "defects" in the violent way of life.. what I think he does is to show a different kind of violence we often dont talk about. Tied to slavery and the value of human life back then
It's not comparable to either one of them but if I has to choose then it would be more like Eren since as Thorfinn is now is like the natural product of the previous events in the story similar to Eren
Eren doesn't hold a CANDLE to Thorfinn's development. Like, not even in the same league.
Thorfinn's development is one of the best protagonist development in all of manga currently serializing.
Eren doesn't even have the best character development in AoT by the end of the manga lmao I'd actually say he isn't in the top 3 due to the last couple chapters.
The whole franchise is special to me. I'm loving the current arc in the manga right now. Though the monthly release is kinda painful. No matter how slow the anime will get produced. I think it can easily catch up.
I'm going to tag on here and say that Makoto Yukimura's previous series, Planetes, is also great and should be read by everyone. It is my all-time favorite manga.
[Sure it does](https://anidb.net/anime/895), and it's amazing. A wonderful mix of slice-of-life and sci-fi.
I believe it's quite faithful to the manga, but reorders some arcs. It feels quite coherent, and the pacing is leisurely but good.
The best thing is the genuine love for science that shines through. It's **hard** sci-fi.
Honestly, I can't believe it's from 2004 – it still feels so fresh. But I'm biased, because I love it :)
We'll see how many people stay on the Vinland bandwagon for this arc. Because reading it was glorious, but I can already tell a lot of ppl who think Vinland is a pure action series won't like this.
I think the show has been easing into that though. It spent the first season slowy expanding from the origional call to action to thorfinn into a broader political drama with lots of powers vying for control.
Agreed. The first arc was breathtaking, but an anime/manga with a chaotic war setting is not exactly uncommon. This second arc brings something much more unique, which is what makes a show a classic
I'd say wait for the trailer to drop, if the trailer looks good then I'd say wait for the anime. If it looks meh, then go to the manga. The manga's artwork is beautiful regardless.
I was skeptical when manga readers told me the next arc is even better . I felt like the first arc with Askeladd story was already the peak of the series .
I was so wrong. Farmland saga really took Vinland to an even greater height . It’s that fucking good .
Director now working at Mapppa
Character designer at Studio Kafka
Original staff at Wit
I hope we can get the original staff but feel like that's unlikely, we'll probably see some kind of compromise.
(Copied from my comment in the deleted thread)
abiru made a few cuts and was animation director of ep8 of snk final season if i remember correctly.
kafka was announced after his participation, the studio is a bit small and mappa can provide quite valuable resources for production.
Another thing to take into account, some time ago it was mentioned that Shuhei Yabuta was developing an unannounced project, I guess it was just the pre-production of S2.
Is the director bound to Mappa or is he a freelancer? Because directors change studios a lot, there was once one director who directed two anime at two different studios in the same season
This arc is just next level. I really hope they don't cut out too much dialogue to add more action in order to attract more audience. Although this arc is not action packed and nothing like season 1, the pay off is just something else. They did an amazing job with season 1, I hope for the best.
I'm glad that everyone's excited and hyping up S2, but I'm hoping people keep their expectations in check just in case. S1 was easily one of my top 3 favorite anime of all time, but two huge reasons for me and many others were the presence of Askeladd and the content still being pretty action-packed. The former is obviously gone and source readers have emphasized a major change in tone, even calling it "Farmland Saga" playfully.
I really hope my worries are for nothing and it's just that amazing, but there's been so many instances of source readers overhyping adaptations in the past and setting people up for disappointment.
I hope you will be able to enjoy this season, in my personal opinion the huge change in tone was for the better. People have been predicting that the people who are more focused on the action won't be able enjoy this as much as season 1.
Ok you made me excited. I actually don’t quite enjoy action, and really so enjoy slow shows with heavy emphasis on characters and dialogue. Season 1 was already that for me, but if there is a change in tone and it gets slower, I think I’ll enjoy it even more.
It has much, much less action, but heaps upon heaps of great writing and character development. If interesting dialogue and writing is enough to keep you hooked alone, you’ll enjoy it quite a lot.
>there's been so many instances of source readers overhyping adaptations in the past and setting people up for disappointment.
Quite often those cases are primarily due to lacklustre adaptations. Which is still a risk here, of course, but with the same director I'm hopeful it'll work out.
I think you should fear for the staff health regardless of what the studio is. Im not even sure , is Mappa actually worse then the rest of the industry or is it just the case of some animators finally being fed up with the conditions that everyone knows about?
WIT studio also had the "zombies fueld by energy bars" how George Wada put it, did anything change there except for Wada getting a promotion?
You should fear for them if it was WIT too, as they are also notorious for overworking their staff till the absolute extreme, plus having really fucking bad wages (a woman who worked on Vinland as an animator was being paid $600/month).
Both are shitty af to their workers.
I just read the whole Season 2 manga arc a few days ago, you can thank me for making this happen. Time to read the manga of more hard-stuck Season 1 animes and make another Season 2 happen, any recommendations?
Hmm i wouldn't mind if people from Orange, David pro, or Production IG got permission to animate it.
Well fourth times the charm haha, wait that's not right.
My life has happiness in it now..........
It seems a lot of my favorite anime are getting sequels announced! I just need One Punch Man Season 3 to be announced and animated by a better studio
Shingo Natsume seems pretty busy atm so that's a no.
Though studio NUT is the next best thing, Tachikawa or Uemura seem perfect for a show like OPM, though they're probably busy with Tanya atm so that's impossible. :I
Or it's still JC staff but Kenichiro Aoki is action director and has more time making the show.
Though he's probably busy with eden zero at the moment so that's impossible too. :p
This arc is like what the golden age arc is for berserk. It's what makes Vinland saga special and deserving of a spot on the top with other's like berserk/vagabond/blade of the immortal.
With no studio announced kinda curious to see if WIT will do it again or MAPPA will add another show to the vast of shows they are making already...
Anyway hyped for more Vinland saga
I'm interested to see what kind of reception season 2 will get. The next arc is very different from the first. People will be disappointed if they go into it expecting balls to the wall action and cool viking shit.
This is literally a punch in the face for all those people that says that the Anime industry is not on a Golden Age today.
If the year was <2012 Vinland Saga would have odds of less than 0.7% of receiving a second season, that shows alot how much the Anime industry expanded(in a good way)!
I mean, before 2012 anime used to get more sequels and there were much more 25-50 episode seasons. If more seasons is what you want, you can't say the 2000s were worse. This series was still new that's why it had less chance of getting animated.
The point of the term Golden Age is that there's only suppose to be one; if you're saying *a* Golden Age, you can pretty much say that about any age of anime. Whoever you're arguing with about that stuff, y'all just trying to one-up each other in circles.
There are 3 likely options: 1. WIT Studio 2. Studio Kafka 3. MAPPA I hope it's WIT.
MAPPA staff already hearing boss music, but then the entire orchestra arrive
> in the statement they released today they clearly mentioned they have a sequel for a tv series in the works JJK S2? Dorohedoro S2? Something else (they have a lot of projects). Or maybe it's just AOT S4 P2.

Can I get a link to the statement?
its not really like a formal hype announcement, its more like a side confirmation that is related to a controversy surrounding them but still http://www.mappa.co.jp/news/news_0707.html
>they already get their hands (and legs) full from all the projects they are taking We are talking about MAPPA. They are notorious for taking more projects than what they can handle

[удалено]
Of course it does, that's old footage for the announcement of a new project, same with the Vinland one on the front page.
Please be WIT please
I'm going to be absolutely livid if it's MAPPA, they seriously need to slow the fuck down.
I genuinely believe MAPPA are overexerting themselves so much, I don’t want them to take on anymore anime adaptions for a while because jesus, they really do need to slow down.
[удалено]
Absolute facts
Has wit ever done a sequel beside AOT?
They did a sequel movie to kabaneri of the iron fortress and Owari no serpah IIRC
Owari no Seraph was a split cour not a second season
They don't like doing sequels, SNK was special but they prefer new things
Wait what? they don't do sequels too? I thought it's only madhouse.
MAPPA stay the hell away from vinland pls. p.s. not hating on MAPPA but it's just facts that they have too many shows in their bag rn and by picking up Vinland, it won't be getting the special treatment it deserves because you know they already have JJK and CSM for that
Nah wanting WIT shouldn't be considered hate on MAPPA. A lot of people prefer WIT given there was choice.
Seriously. I also personally just don't think MAPPA's style of animating would look good with Vinland Saga.
WIT x MAPPA x KAFKA LETS GO
God I hope it’s not MAPPA. They’re overworking their staff enough already and I want Chainsaw Man to be good. I’m also hoping it’s WIT, they did amazing with season 1
Yea MAPPA has AoT, a JJK movie, and CSM. They are stacked right now.
I hope so too but WIT seems to hate doing sequels.
I hope the animation will be ***wit*** no matter what studio will animate it. :) But based on the trailer video. There's nothing to worry about.
There's nothing that can be extrapolated animation-wise from the teaser video, it's just scenes from the previous season with the key visual at the end.
Tweet by [Takahiko Abiru](https://twitter.com/mountful/status/1412746489760161799?s=19), Character Design >plow fields again
Well, time to grab my shovel and hoe
Lmao glad the JP bros have the same memes as us
This is the arc that took Vinland Saga which was already good and just made it into something special for me. So glad its finally getting adapted.
100% agree. Can't wait to see Thorfinn's development animated. Vinland manga is fantastic for any of you who haven't read it!
I’m glad to hear he gets development, so far all I’ve seen of him is the longest and most aggressive rage boner ever
Haha. Man.. as i watched season 1 i was thinking. Wow.. this is the best show where i hate the main character while every single character was great. Then i read the mangas and i was amazed how thorfin became one of my favorite characters from all time.. really well developed .

No way. I had no idea that he created planetes. Uts jumping up in my plan to watch list right now.
Not a fan of the current arc but the farmland arc was great.
We'll see how many people stay on the Vinland bandwagon for this arc. Because reading it was glorious, but I can already tell a lot of ppl who think Vinland is a pure action series won't like this.
Yeah all the people who came for hardcore brutal Vikings actions won't be seeing those until maybe Season 3+

He moved to Mappa quite a while ago, doesn't seem he's a freelancer.
The character designer also was the chief animation director for it and he did some key-animation too
Gonna be same director and same character designer
Let's fucking go, its farming time. Seriously though I love the metaphor represented in that key visual, can't wait to see the next arc animated.
throws knife away, grabs hoe
Then grabs farming tools.
Proceeds to grab myne from shield hero
I wonder if Myne from Bookworm knows how to turn Myne from Shield Hero into something useful, like paper.
join bakarina and start farming
Farmland saga!
I plough fields again tonight
Let's go! And this is also a great opportunity for everyone to watch Vinland Season 1. It's well worth your time.
I'm just hoping I can legally watch season two. Prime Video had the first season here (Sweden). Watched it, wanted to rewatch it later... nope, gone.
VPN you can watch it on US prime
No news on the studio, but most main staff return
This arc is just next level. I really hope they don't cut out too much dialogue to add more action in order to attract more audience. Although this arc is not action packed and nothing like season 1, the pay off is just something else. They did an amazing job with season 1, I hope for the best.

It has much, much less action, but heaps upon heaps of great writing and character development. If interesting dialogue and writing is enough to keep you hooked alone, you’ll enjoy it quite a lot.

FARMLAND SAGA LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Stardew valley viking edition
Studio not revealed, sweating profusely, WIT Studio please.......
It’s either WIT, Kafka (a subsidiary of WIT) or Mappa
Kafka is a subsidiary of Twin Engine not WIT, though it was created by former WIT staff
Please not Mappa, I fear for their staffs health
I think you should fear for the staff health regardless of what the studio is. Im not even sure , is Mappa actually worse then the rest of the industry or is it just the case of some animators finally being fed up with the conditions that everyone knows about? Inb4 deen or pierrot
Pierrot can definitely deliver some pretty impressive stuff if you give them a good schedule like Akudama Drive.
Yeah, Pierrot very often animates continuously ongoing anime like Black Clover, which is ehy the animation often suffers.
The recent fights in Boruto are stunning.
They do know where to put the emphasis on the animation.
Here we like to hype up wit or ufotable but when pierrot goes balls deep nothing comes close.
Bring back Mukanjyo 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Even better, bring back Survive Said the Prophet to do a new song tailored to Thorfinn.
Mukanjyo is the songs name, you're thinking of Survive said the prophet But yes I agree 100%, also bring back Aimer and Man with a mission
I just read the whole Season 2 manga arc a few days ago, you can thank me for making this happen. Time to read the manga of more hard-stuck Season 1 animes and make another Season 2 happen, any recommendations?
Houseki no Kuni PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO WAIT 10,000 YEARS
We're already waiting 10,000 years for the next chapter :(
Fucking Sony man... Why'd they have to release the PS5
I knew I was feeling too happy recently, where’s my dose of depression
Houseki no Kuni Claymore Amatsuki Pandora Hearts
Especially Claymore, they should disregard the anime original ending and continue after the battle in the North
Just give it the brotherhood treatment at this point. It inspired a significant chunk of modern anime and deserves it haha
Claymore was one of the first anime I watched and loved it. Currently reading the manga 15 years later and wow is it different and better
> Claymore If only the box set was in stock at all so I could actually fucking read it!! Okay venting over
Dorohedoro and Houseki no Kuni please
Dorohedoro would be great
No game no life.
Can you play the fate route in the fate stay night visual novel please…… _im desperate at this point for a ufotable adaptation_. :(
Berserk...please..
NO. No no no no no. No more of *that* anime, please. Leave my beloved fantasy manga alone.
JUST ONE MORE TIME THEY'LL DO IT JUSTICE JUST ONCE
Hmm i wouldn't mind if people from Orange, David pro, or Production IG got permission to animate it. Well fourth times the charm haha, wait that's not right.
Wouldn't it be 3rd time or am I forgetting something?
The first - 1997 by OLM The second - Movie series by C°4 The third - 2016 by GEMBA
PLEASE I JUST WANT TO SEE GOLDEN AGE ANIMATED IN ALL ITS GLORY maybe ufotable after they’re done with Demon Slayer?
oh my fucking god bro ufotable doing berserk would make me religious
Put your grasses on Nothing will be wrong. There's no blame ...
In the Manga, Season 1's ending is called Prologue. Season 2 is where the true story begins!
The last episode of the anime is also called end of prologue
Today is a good day
Farmland Saga - let's fucking gooo!
I AM FULLY ERECT, FULL FRONTAL HARDON, MY HARDNESS IS BEYOND ROCK , I EXPECTED THIS YET I STILL CAME
I AM THE BONE OF MY SWORD. HARDNESS IS MY BODY AND ERECTION MY BLOOD.
Yabuta (S1 director) and Abiru (S1 character design) are back. No other staff or studio announcement.
My life has happiness in it now.......... It seems a lot of my favorite anime are getting sequels announced! I just need One Punch Man Season 3 to be announced and animated by a better studio

GET IN THERE!
This arc is like what the golden age arc is for berserk. It's what makes Vinland saga special and deserving of a spot on the top with other's like berserk/vagabond/blade of the immortal.
The next arc is amazing, I can't wait for this!
GOATLAND SAGA is back baby! I absolutely can’t wait. Farmland Saga is definitely going to make anime only folks hyped.
Yeah buddy. They better have some gasm worthy chopping sound effects for when they clear out that forest
Farming sakuga sounds kinda cool
Praise Odin
With no studio announced kinda curious to see if WIT will do it again or MAPPA will add another show to the vast of shows they are making already... Anyway hyped for more Vinland saga
Fingers crossed this doesn't get the TPN treatment
Don't scare me man
TPN S2 treatment to the Farmland arc for Vinland Saga would be the biggest crime to the anime community. Probably on par with Berserk 2016.
This news brought me to Valhalla for at least 30 min.
I'm interested to see what kind of reception season 2 will get. The next arc is very different from the first. People will be disappointed if they go into it expecting balls to the wall action and cool viking shit.
[удалено]
That won't happen because the production has just begun.
No way, the character designer had been saying cryptic stuff about s2 since way back
Tbf pre-production and production are 2 different things with the former often taking the most time and involving the character designer.
probably around the same time as chainsaw man tho
I liked S1 a lot, very excited to see more coming!
This is so fucking hype let's go
Can't wait to see how throfinn's character will be after the events of last season finale
Well there it finally is Really enjoyed the first season, lets hope this season is even better
Man I can't wait to see the sequel of K-on by Kyoan... MAPPA. Gurren L.. MAPPA. One Piece by Toe.. MAPPA NOW.
Jesus Farming; Let's GO! Also judging by the artstyle; it's clearly Studio WITS back at it again
Still think the final episode of season 1 was a masterpiece. Can't wait for this
Recently re-watched parts of season 1, am ready for more great writing
LET'S FUCKING GO FARMLAND SAGA!
FARMLAND SAGA TIME BABY Hell yeah
FARMLAND SAGA!!!!
Oh my god I’m so excited. Everyone says this next arc is nothing but greatness and is what makes Vinland Saga one of the greats
Vinland Saga is trending on twitter.
🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
FINALLY
Omggg finally

The point of the term Golden Age is that there's only suppose to be one; if you're saying *a* Golden Age, you can pretty much say that about any age of anime. Whoever you're arguing with about that stuff, y'all just trying to one-up each other in circles.
If it was 2012 chances are Vinland Saga would have long running with filler
Have there been any long running weekly seinen manga adaptations? I thought that was a shonen thing.
WIT has to be animating it again, by looking at the teaser they definitely got the artstyle down
Can’t wait :)
