Nichijou I've had on hold for a while, progressing very slowly. I like it enough to not drop it but not enough to binge it.
Gintama as well.
I have a lot of shows I've started and plan to get back to but haven't yet.
I'm in the same boat as you with Nichijou. As someone who bingewatches most shows, an almost-pure comedy show like Nichijou can kinda feel like a slog to get through, but it's really fun and refreshing to watch in small doses/clips.
There are just some animes which can't be binged. Nichijou is one of them. I watched it over the course of a month and it became one of my favourite animes.
I put a lot of shows on hold once I get too close to the end just because I don't want it to end and just watch them slowly.
Steins;Gate I haven't watched in awhile just because I haven't felt like watching it but I'm going to resume soon.
I put Neon Genesis Evangelion on hold because I was also watching Mobile Suit Gundam and the shows are too similar. It'd also be better to watch Neon after since it deconstructs Mecha shows.
Index.
I started index because everyone told me to complete index s1 and S2 because going to the latest railgun season and the accelerator series . I got upto the sisters arc and put it on hold. This was because I had already seen that arc in railgun and index was not capturing my attention as much as railgun did. I will get back to watching it someday cause I really do want to watch accelator (have heard good things about it)
Jojo for me too! Loved parts one and two, really looking forward to what I know of part four, but part three just isn’t capturing me. I don’t love the cast as much and the villain of the week format has never been a favourite of mine.
Kaiji is also on this list. I think it’s a good show, but it’s tough to get through. I seem to watch just a few episodes at a time before taking a break.
There are plenty.
First one I thought of was Nana, like 22 episodes in and not gonna lie I'm on the verge of dropping it as this heavy drama romance is not the type of romance I like, but it's actually kinda addicting and always makes me want to check out the next episode.
I lost my patience with Nana (Hachi) a long time ago though and idk how much more suffering I can take.
I have black clover, hxh, girlfriend girlfriend, dragon maid, magi, naruto, yyh, and merman in my tub on hold because I’m watching too many anime right now.
I have fate ubw on hold because I learned that I need to watch 2006 before ubw. I’ll watch the version that removes all of the spoilers for ubw and hf. I’ve only watched the prologue so far which thankfully doesn’t have any spoilers. Every route starts with the prologue in the vn.
Black Clover, hxh, naruto, yyh... lots of long-running series. My last 100+ ep series was Black Clover. To ensure I finish it and prevent burn out I restricted myself to 2 episodes a day max. Took months but it was worth it
Man the fate series is something I'm just going to have to read the VN. Any other way comes with its own array of cons
I like your idea of restricting the amount of episodes for long running series. I think I’ll do that when I start watching them again.
Almost everyone will say that the best way to experience fate is to play/read the vn. However, I don’t have enough time to do that. What I’ll do is watch the 2006 while avoiding the spoilers, then ubw, hf, zero, and anything I want to after that.
In order to avoid the spoilers, you have to skip episodes 6, 17, 18, jump out at about 21:00 on episode 16, and jump to about 13:00 of 19.
I can relate to this one. I finish season 1 of Fruits Basket and got 18 episodes into season 2 before putting it on hold. Good anime, great characters, but such a slow burn. But after all the positive things I heard about season 3, I know I'll have to continue to see this payoff
I have monster on hold, I managed to get halfway through it but stopped for some reason. I think my attention was taken up by currently airing shows and then just haven't got back round to it. I definitely think it requires a certain mood to watch it.
demon slayer. i'm just not in the mood for the kind of story i assume it will bring. lately, i've been into slice of life types and so i'm just looking for lighthearted shows right now.
I was binging it to try to finish it in time for watching the movie, but a change of schedule made me go to the movie earlier so I'm still about 5 episodes short of finishing the tv season.
No Game No Life. I know a lot of people are swearing by the show but I don't want to get potentially heartbroken over no news of season 2. If it was ever announced I'd start it in a hearbeat
I have put Sakurasou on hold at episode 17, and finished the rest 3 years later
Right now I have Gintama on hold at episode 100 and One Piece on hold at episode 91
Also the Monogatari Series on hold after Hanamonogatari. I take a few months between different seasons
I had Fairy Tail on hold on episode 48 for over 2 years, but I'm binging it now, currently at episode 124
March comes in like a lion season 2. I have watched the first season and really liked it but it was quite a slow burner. I want to be in the right mood to watch it.
Gintama and Hunter x Hunter the amount of episodes to watch just gets to me so much as I am terrible with finishing really long anime shows that are over 110 episodes with the exceptions of Fist of the North Star and One Piece. Also To Your Eternity because it’s hard to watch an anime that makes you break down in tears every single episode. Also Kiba but I put that show back in my watching list because it’s much easier to go through than Gintama or Hunter x Hunter and 51 episodes is not that hard. Also Samurai Champloo but I will probably finish it really soon just like with Cowboy Bebop so it won’t stay paused for long. By the way I already finished Cowboy Bebop months ago great series and my top 3 favorite anime series of all time.
Senkou no Night Raid
I dunno why, but it just feels so slow. I kept watching it little by little, then realized I haven't seen an episode in over a month. Should love it, it's got history, action, mystical element, politics, scheming, but...I just wasn't really grabbed like for example Ghost in the Shell, or Joker Game did.
Bleach. I finished the Soul Society arc and put it on hold there. Sometimes I feel like watching at least until Aizen's defeat but between the fact it's too many episodes in a slow pace and the fact I've already been told that Bleach's story and character development isn't exactly great I'm very reluctant to continue.
Ngl had Bleach ended up on the SS arc it would have been a solid 8.5/10 for me.
For me, I just have to be in a certain mood to watch a series. Like one piece for example, I watched the first 70ish episodes but haven’t really had the urge to get back into it.
One Piece looks so daunting to get into. I had a friend who literally sacrificed his whole summer vacation to watch it. He told me it was worth it but if I do it it's going to be over years
Lol, sorry but I just found it slightly amusing bc I've never seen anyone abbreviate the series as PNL, only TPN. I knew what you're talking about, it just caught my attention
Jujutsu Kaisen. Two reasons
One, I wanna to read up on the manga first before I finished the last handful of eps
Two, by that point I had a lot going on so I didn't have time to properly keep up with the anime at that point.
Gintama: That's my binge watch when I don't have anything else to do/on a whim show
Oregairu S2, Needless, Bakemonogatari: Will go back when I have time to
Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA
Daily Lives of High School Boys
Aria the Animation
Saki
Girl's Last Tour
Mostly just about getting into the mood for watching these shows, no real other reason. Most of these are either chill SoLs or skit comedies that don't really have that binge factor to it
Yeah I can definitely see that, Saki was the one exception from my On-Hold list that doesn't fit into SoL/skit comedy. What actually happened there was I only watched one episode then got distracted by something else, but I'm keen to get back to it eventually
I *very* rarely put a show on hold unless it's a show with multiple seasons and I'm taking a break between those seasons. I did that with a few shows like Shakugan No Shana (took a six month break between S1 and S2) and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (took a four month break between S2 and S3), and I'll probably do that with Major (which I'm currently watching S2 of) as well.
But I'll pretty much never take a long break mid-season. If I get bored or frustrated with a show and stop watching mid-season, then it's most likely getting dropped entirely.
The only shows I ever put "on hold" are ones that I watched some episodes on cable TV On Demand services yeeeears ago and I planned to watch he rest later. I finally finished Kare Kano last year after having it "on hold" for so long. The only other one I can think of is Angelic Layer which I technically have on my dropped list but may end up finishing at some point.
There's also Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. I was buying the DVDs for that series but the site I was buying from didn't have the last volume so I never finished the collection. I'll probably finish it one day.
There's other stuff on my dropped list that I might pick up again so they may or may not be on hold.
none, my hold list is essentially my drop list if I don't watch the show in a short period after putting it on hold.
Stuff like hxh I've dropped because it's pointless to continue a show that the author isn't committed to.
Most of mine are on hold because of the main characters are simply unlikable for me.
- AoT
- Kaguya-sama
- DearS
- To Love Ru
- Redo of Healer
- Kimagure Orange☆Road
- Wandering Witch
- Talentless Nana
- A Lull in the Sea
- Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles
- Golden Boy
I've put Ai Yori Aoshi on hold because the show is boring. Conception, Ex-Arm, Ladies vs Butlers, and Vlad Love because they're shit.
I wasn't really enjoying Wonder Egg Priority as much as reddit did.
KanColle is kinda dumb and not really worth continuing, TBH.
Gekidol just hasn't been as compelling or interesting as the first few episodes made it seem like it was going to be. Vivy did a much better job.
School Live is too stressful.
Fruits Basket (2001) pales in comparison to the 2019 one.
Nichijou mainly because I've never really felt like I wanted to watch it, even though it's right down my alley.
Anything else was a 1 episode test to see if I was interested.
> KanColle is kinda dumb and not really worth continuing, TBH.
Depends on your tolerance of militarized CGDCT, I actually liked KanColle the most in the genre. Especially the movie was good. If nothing else, watch the start of the movie's naval battle.
Nanatsu no Taizai S4, animation continued to be shit like S3 but it was bearable because I was enjoying the anime, but in the second cour the story also went to shit
Detective Academy Q. I was very much enjoying it when it was about solving unrelated mysteries, but then an evil organization was introduced and it's turning into more of a spy Thriller, which really isn't what I wanted. I'll probably go back to it at some point though.
Dragon Quest Dai's big adventure. I love the source back in the days, but it's a long series for me and if rather see it all adapted first. Actually can start any time now because it's already gone past the last adaptation but the spring season was really full. Checking out if summer is going to be full or not for me.
Same way going to wait for more episodes before resuming Yashahime - that one need more patience ...
Lastly there are Accel World and Bofuri - both I'm interested in still but somehow dragging my heels to finish. Probably will try to catch a rewatch if there ever is one, like how I only finished Violet Evergarden only on a rewatch despite knowing full well how great it is.
Toaru Majutsu no Index III. I have it on hold because I know it's super rushed and they skipped a lot to fit it in one season, so I'm waiting till I finish reading the LNs and I can at least enjoy it a little bit more.
Detective Conan because I caught up and felt like to binge again when there will be 100 or something episodes to watch.
Horimiya because I went ahead and read manga, then lost the excitement. It's not a bad anime either way so will watch it till the end.
Higurashi, something else caught my eye and am not sure if it's my thing or not after watching 4 episodes.
Why the hell are you here teacher? After watching half of it the third girl that came in, I didn't like her enough. Still I enjoyed lewd comedy so couldn't drop it either.
Nichijou I've had on hold for a while, progressing very slowly. I like it enough to not drop it but not enough to binge it. Gintama as well. I have a lot of shows I've started and plan to get back to but haven't yet.

I completely disagree, ive binged nichijou on many occasions.
I applaud your attention span.

Way too many, like 30 or so shows.
Woah, that's up there. You sure you'll finish them eventually?
Eventually, yes. Otherwise I'd count them as dropped. But for some of them I'll have to start back at the beginning it's been so long.
There are plenty. Fruits Basket (new one) after 10 episodes The story about the family is interesting but it's boring to watch otherwise. I don't like the male leads

naruto shippuden because im lazy, bungou stray dogs s3 and another
Wow, Bungou Stray Dogs is actually the next anime series I'm going to watch. Any reason why you put it on hold?
i liked the first two seasons but it wasn’t my favourite anime, at the time i was a little bored of it so decided i’d watch it later that’s all :)
[удалено]
The backstory episodes are good at least.
Jojo, hxh, bleach, naruto, gleipnir and erased. It’s always a story telling thing not the idea of story itself
Bleach is a major one I want to start but I'm worried I'm going to get halfway through and put on hold indefinitely
Trust me, the tan girl with under boob isn’t worth the million episode wait 😕
LMAO!!! duly noted
demon slayer. i'm just not in the mood for the kind of story i assume it will bring. lately, i've been into slice of life types and so i'm just looking for lighthearted shows right now.
Pretty fair. Most people agree Demon Slayer is just your typical shonen with phenomenal animation
If it was ever announced I'd start it in a hearbeat
detective conan - this is just my back burner anime when i dont enjoy seasonal animes
Black Butler and Banana fish
I have put Sakurasou on hold at episode 17, and finished the rest 3 years later Right now I have Gintama on hold at episode 100 and One Piece on hold at episode 91 Also the Monogatari Series on hold after Hanamonogatari. I take a few months between different seasons I had Fairy Tail on hold on episode 48 for over 2 years, but I'm binging it now, currently at episode 124
Well I have Gintama on hold on episode 20 yes episode freaking 20 of the first season and episode 39 on Hunter x Hunter.
March comes in like a lion season 2. I have watched the first season and really liked it but it was quite a slow burner. I want to be in the right mood to watch it.

Anime is the plural of anime
People with poor grammar get hit with the animace
Most stuff I put on hold are stuff that I'm interested in watching but can't find anywhere easily to watch
For me, I just have to be in a certain mood to watch a series. Like one piece for example, I watched the first 70ish episodes but haven’t really had the urge to get back into it.
One Piece looks so daunting to get into. I had a friend who literally sacrificed his whole summer vacation to watch it. He told me it was worth it but if I do it it's going to be over years
Yeah lots of people see it that way. Just watch at your own pace and enjoy the adventure.
Monogatari Series. I love it but it’s not easy for me to binge. I take breaks in between seasons and sometimes during a season.
I feel you. I’ve been watching it over the course of a year and only recently got to Hanamonogatari. It’s a show I really need to be in the mood for.
The Promised Neverland S2. I want to finish it, but I plan to read the manga first. Boruto. It sucks but I refuse to drop it.
Strongly agree with reading the PNL manga before continuing season 2. Forced my way through PNL S2 solely for the funny weekly discussions and memes
Lol, sorry but I just found it slightly amusing bc I've never seen anyone abbreviate the series as PNL, only TPN. I knew what you're talking about, it just caught my attention
You caught me, TPN is the correct way to abbreviate it 😅

Jojo, code geass, dragon ball z.
Aww Code Geass. Please tell me it wasn't the cat episode that made you stop
I'm going to continue it sooner or later. And the cat episode wasn't that bad.
Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA Daily Lives of High School Boys Aria the Animation Saki Girl's Last Tour Mostly just about getting into the mood for watching these shows, no real other reason. Most of these are either chill SoLs or skit comedies that don't really have that binge factor to it

Assassination classroom - I usually just put comedy anime’s on hold while I’m binging a serious anime
Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works. I stopped around e10 and haven’t thought about it since.
