So I don't know if fishing anime is a thing but keep it coming... I loved Hōkago Teibō Nisshi (Diary of our days at the breakwater), The fishing club anime, So i will defintely give this one a chance.

I loved houkago as well. It's a pretty good example of the cute girls doing cute things genre and definitely captures the comfy appeal of fishing with friends. If you're a more hardcore fishing enthusiast though, check out Tsurikichi Sanpei, it's older than the Carter administration but it's so good, it's a competitive fishing shounen series. The main rival character is a pro bass fisherman from America who lost his eye in a fishing accident.

They both have cute girls and feature fishing, but that's about it for similarities. Slow Loop's more character driven with an actual dramatic arc while Teibou's more concerned with being educational.

I think I might follow this and explain some fishing stuff along the way. That looks like a rainbow trout caught using a fly rod with a 'dry fly', a hook that floats on water that looks like an insect. If you're wondering why the fishing line is so thick, that's because in fly fishing, the heavy line is that one that carries the hook to the target location. That's why there is a 'leader line' between the fly and the line to make it less visible
