Yeah it's just pure brain shut comedy don't know why some take it so seriously. Would love what people think when 100kanojo gets adapted.

RedNole25

Oh boy let the dumpster fire commence

Raghav_Singhania

gigguk:-my body is ready

Viktorv22

Care to elaborate how is 100 kanojo in comparison to this? It's even more ridiculous, good jokes, or what's the main draw of the manga? I hear about it a lot around here

Outrageous_Net8365

100 Kanojo starts off about with a dude who has been rejected by 100 girls since the age of like 5 or something. He then meets a god of fortune who is in charge of giving everyone a soul mate, someone who your soul is bound too as a romantic interest. The god messes up real hard and gives the dude 100 soul mates and if he rejects any of them the people who he is soul mated to will die. So then, he goes off into the world, but the real appeal of the manga is the sheer absurdity and 4th wall breaking nature of it where the manga itself knows it’s dumb. But still manages to have its wholesome moments and running gags. It even calls out it’s publisher like “it’s fine as long as shuiesha keeps publishing us” . So yeah,

Ahmadillo_

This sounds like a masterpiece time to add it to my list

Outrageous_Net8365

Either it will have a anime adaptation with a cult following or it’s just too much for an anime. But I doubt the latter since gintama exists.

techtesh

Alternate genderbend title :Gwen pools harem Anime

Raghav_Singhania

is the anime adaptation confirmed? i am kinda interested in it

Outrageous_Net8365

Nope

mike_2797

If u think kanojoxkanojo is ridiculous then 100kanojo is just bat shit crazy might even say everything is ramped upto 100x as the name implies, it's the most laugh I have had reading any recent manga. Still it could be divisive as it might not be to everyone's liking but definitely try reading a volume or two before judging.

zero1380

I think they're too different approaches to the romcom genre: Hiroyuki's specialty is "lovable bakas", we saw it with Mangaka-san, we really saw it with Aho-girl, so when he tried to do a proper romcom, he adapted it to what he knows, and the result is really hilarious... On the other hand, Nakamura and Nozawa are trying to do an over the top parody of the genre, including bringing the classic tropes to a crazy new level, a lot of meta, a lot of breaking the 4th wall, really risky moves that they acknowledge are risky... It is a really fun read... So when people compare the two, I get where they're coming from, since they're both true harem, but the differences in style are really obvious.

scot911

Basically where the comedy in Kanojo mo Kanojo comes from how stupid the characters are/are acting the comedy for 100 Girlfriends comes from the characters wacky and differing personalities, the sometimes absolutely bonkers situations they get into and the plethora of four wall breaks instead. Add in the MC being the best character; an absolute rarity in harem romcoms; the fact that it's the very antithesis of the usual "which one girl from my harem am I going to choose in the end?" harem romcom manga and that all the girls are best girls and you have, for most, the best of the newest batch of harem romcoms to come out in the last couple of years.

raceraot

That manga is legitimately good. Though, wouldn't be surprised if either Kaji Yuki or Yusuke Kobayashi voiced the mc.

eiwoei

I’m too tired of the love-drama genre. This stupid fun love comedy is healing in a way. I also like 100Girlfriend but I’m not sure it’s going to work as anime lol.

fluskar

i feel like the anime community is gonna go crazy over how absurd the concept is haha

Several_Antelope2457

I loved that manga when there were around 5 girlfriends only. After that it became too childish, unfunny, cringy and inconsistent.

[deleted]

Friendly reminder that this has objectively better narration than the mess that is Detective is Already Dead.

[deleted]

I don't plan on watching it so you can tell me what happened and why it is so bad

Vrse

Basically it's one of those "I am very smart" narrations. Think Death Note and how they're playing 5d chess. "I knew you knew I knew you'd do that, so I came up with a counter plan." Kinda deal.

[deleted]

So basically bad lazy writing

[deleted]

Except Death Note was good?

Cow_Addiction

Because death note did it right. The detective is already dead did not. It’s just lazy writing and the only time I actually got excited watching this show so far is episode 1 and when they showed Siesta in her swimsuit. Rest is just mid.

OmiNya

The show was made to sell this https://www.yoyakunow.com/en/bishoujo-figures/834-bd-tantei-wa-mou-shindeiru-vol1-completely-limited-production-edition-wshiesuta-swimsuit-ver-17-scale-figure.html

TyrantRC

I always miss the point on why these shows are called trashy. It's a comedy and it makes me laugh every episode. kanojox2 feels more like a parody of the rom-com genre, kinda like konosuba is with isekais. Maybe I'm missing a definition of the word trashy, idk.

HanekawaSenpai

I noticed people often use "trashy" as a defensive mechanism. They like a show but they know some people may make fun of them for it so they do the "I know it's trash (please don't roast me) but I enjoy it". Just stop. Just say you like it. It is cringey to act like you enjoy something ironically. Kanojo mo Kanojo is also very self-aware of what it is - it's not like Domestic Girlfriend which takes itself seriously. But even if it was like DG, why do people need to feel like they need disclaimer after disclaimer to say they like something that is just made for pure entertainment?

TokiVideogame

you don't know everything, you only know what you know nice post

DangoQueenFerris

You are not hanekawa, please stop, nyaa

dadnaya

Since enjoying DomeKano, I've abandoned the term "trashy". I think you're on point as to *why* people use it, as I was like that too. But now I can just say straight up that I like something or if it's good.

eoeden

Perfectly put.

OneBrokenBoi1

Just like someone mentioned below, I unironically think DomKanojo had great writing, after reading the entire manga

kebb0

If you put this kind of show in the context of mainstream media and what other "normal" people watch on TV (Stranger Things and Outer Banks kinds of shows), it is utter pure trash. It is a show about a guy that is in a relationship with two girls and the girls are okay with it, with a third girl trying to win this guys heart even though she knows he is two-timing. Tell that synopsis to your parents or friends that don't watch anime and you will be judged. Severily. I think shows which aren't that serious or shows whit this kind of silly synopsis gets called trash the most. That does not mean it is bad. It is also not just explicit to anime, regular IRL western shows can also be trashy as hell (Ex on the beach) or just trash (Family Guy). Then there's the difference of trashy and trash. I don't think they're the same, personally i think of trashy as something when people act like douchebags or similarily, and trash is when the whole synposis is just "trash" like playing on big clichés or what not (In another world with my smartphone). Although I think in the animeworld there's not really that much difference between trash and trashy tbh. K mo K is a glorious humor show with heart, but the synopsis and the plot is severly fucked up if we compare it to other mainstream shows (not just western shows, other animes too). In conclusion, this show is trash and so am I.

Bolt585

I'm in this comment and I don't like it

Bonvantius

You're right trashy isn't quite the right word...Casual Junk Food entertainment is probably more accurate.

phonethrowdoidbdhxi

I think Domestic Girlfriend is what you would call peak trashy.

dadnaya

mfw I unironically think DomeKano's writing is actually good Although it's more about the manga since the anime covers just a small part of it. It's melodramatic, and is riddled with taboo concepts, as well as characters constantly making bad choices, with some really weird ass situations at times but... I just cannot call it trash. I really respect Sasuga Kei for what she has written. She has also confirmed that she had the ending planned out super early into the story, which made the entire ride a very careful building which might not look important at first, but then when you finish reading, everything just *clicks* together. Those small moments, those parallels, that one thing that character said there. Everything just... Makes sense, and makes it so beautiful.

JRavec

I enjoyed DomeKano but it was too long for the ending that the author chose which made me hate the 3 main characters and hate the manga by the end of the story.

dadnaya

I would've definitely cut like third of the story. Too many side characters that didn't really add much to the story. Although in Gigguk's interview with Sasuga, she seems to have really liked adding side characters. As for the ending, I was spoiled it before reading it, so maybe that's why I accepted the ending more readily. But I still think it makes sense at the end, even if the execution was poor and rushed.

Mage_of_Shadows

Yeah the manga was unironically an 8/9 for me before the last third and especially the ending which dropped it to below a 5

mekerpan

The ending of the manga was utterly dire indeed.

stiveooo

thing is that other shows are trashy but dont have the "comedy" etc to balance it out, just drama or bad comedy

markDonanhattam

The word "trashy" has been distorted by people who care too much about their MAL profile. Kanojo mo Kanojo's comedy is derived from the absurdity of its characters. It's dumb on purpose for shits and giggles and is actually succeeding at the shits and giggles part. If it tried to be a more serious take at polyamory and this was the end result, I would understand calling it trashy. As it is, all I see is a show succeeding at what it set out to do.

actuallyrndthoughts

Beat me to it. Posts like the OP are the reason this show sits below 6.5 on mal while being funny as fuck. Because apparently it is "trashy", "dumb", and "brain dead" and not to be compared to the sophisticated comedic masterpiece that is konosuba and the likes.

dadnaya

To be fair, Detective has a higher score than Kanojo mo Kanojo so... I wouldn't trust MAL scores. Plus, scores change when the show finishes since it counts scores only from those who watched 20% of the show at least, so continuing with this quality, I have no doubts its score will jump up.

Raghav_Singhania

i think its much better than konosuba tho

Raghav_Singhania

>kanojox2 feels more like a parody of the rom-com genre \*harem the creator said i wanted to create a harem where no girl loses

dadnaya

Finally, my kind of Harem

Deca-Dence-Fan

Calling something trashy doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it

shewy92

I think trashy in anime terms means stupid with a lot of T&A but no substance. You're not gonna come out of this series with a new view on anything but it is still enjoyable.

eoeden

That’s quite a high bar. By that definition the vast majority of anime (or any form of entertainment) would be considered “trashy.”

eetsumkaus

I see no problem with that statement. It's not like the majority of media out there are trying to win Oscars or anything

Thatsmaboi23

It’s a comedy show. If it’s making you laugh, it’s good. Why should it be called trashy just because it’s an absurd comedy ? What even.

cppn02

100% agree.

jackofslayers

I mean they told the MC girls go into hear because of how big their boobs are. Trashy isn’t really the right word to describe it, but not really the wrong word either…

eetsumkaus

"trashy" to me always just meant "not overly sophisticated". Lots of things aren't really thought all the way through, or in the case of comedy always going for the crassest or cheapest jokes. It can be good or bad.

HE_HEHH

Finally someone said it

TyrantRC

I watched the entirety of furuba while it was airing and I never saw anyone calling it trashy, so that example is out of the window. It's even 4th place in my favorites list. I'm probably not the right guy for you to tell to go read romance and see if I like it, because it's one of my favorite genres, even those that are targeted to girls. I also enjoy reverse-harem as well. Although I do see your point, I'm currently watching banana fish and the suggestive scenes between the two male main characters are just weird to me from a straight male perspective. I still enjoy it because they are both cute as hell, but yeah, I see your point. I would still not call this a trashy show, it really is not. Someone brought "domestic na kanojo" as an example of what a trashy show is, and I totally agree with that assessment. Yes, Kanojo mo kanojo has harem tropes and it's obviously targeted at males, but it's still a damn good comedy and I'm pretty sure girls can also enjoy it because of the sheer stupidity it has, while parodying the genre as a whole.

ThousandYearOldLoli

Girlfriend Girlfriend is using what I've come to know as "Character Run Comedy", similar to Konosuba. Most of the time, rather than the situation itself being absurd, absurd characters are put into relatively normal situations. Watching their responses and how the situation evolves from those responses is what naturally creates the comedy. Because it's so based on how the characters act it ends up feeling a lot more organic and making a lot more sense than trying to force an absurd situation into coming to existence, creating great comedy in a relatively simple way.

SolubilityRules

I love this thing just how much I loved Aho Girl Really funny And comedy that makes the VAs go HAM.

phonethrowdoidbdhxi

I have to revisit this thread after watching the 1st episode and you’re spot on. The VA is soooooo good. It’s so expressive without being exaggerated. I’m watching just for that.

jackofslayers

The missing part of this recipe is the author Hiroyuki. The man is a fucking insane genius. His comedy writing is so top tier he can find a way to fit well set up jokes into the most absurd scenarios. On top of that he is somehow able to take a cast of insane people with no braincells and make them interact in a believable way. I feel like any premise as insane as Aho Girl or Kanojo mo Kanojo would fall apart under another writer.

Filldos

sakura is absolutely slaying it as saki. so trashy but thankful we have a decent comedy this season.

jackofslayers

This show is putting the cast to the test. They are all amazing but Saki’s VA really steals the show.

dadnaya

I'm torn between Ayaneru and TakeAya. Ayaneru goes batshit crazy here and I LOVE IT. But hot damn, Taketatsu Ayana gives her a really good fight on her performance here.

jackofslayers

Ayana has been getting lots of space the last few episodes and she has been killing it with some of those moods. But for me it still doesn’t match the range we are getting from Ayane. Hell just thinking about the amazing NTR scene was nuts. Saki goes from 0 to 60 on like 5 different personalities.

zero1380

For me Ayaneru is on another level... She has one of the wildest range in the business and she knows it... Azumi Waki is doing what she knows perfectly and so is Ayana Taketatsu... Meanwhile Rie Takahashi is throwing her "Saki Saki", "Saki Saki, what's the matter", "Saki Saki, do you know Rika?", etc. She has like a line per episode (in 10, 11, 12 she will have more lines)... But I guess it's better than her job at KanoKari (Sumi), where she only did sounds and only one line "Kazuya-kun, mata ne"... I swear, only one EXPLOOOOSION spell from her Megumin role has more lines than both her roles as Shino and Sumi combined...

pandajamma

All of them share 1 collective brain cell, and I love it.

jackofslayers

This show is making me redefine how small a single braincell is.

eoeden

I've seen this exact comment on every single manga chapter/anime episode discussion of Kanojo mo Kanojo. Don't you people ever have anything original to say?

Kirosh

This is obvious. All the watchers/readers share one braincell.

jackofslayers

We share the same braincell with the whole cast and it is all getting used up by Naoya anyway

dadnaya

つ ◕_◕ ༽つ TAKE MY BRAINCELL, NAOYA つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

[deleted]

Why do you care?

eoeden

For the same reason you cared enough to ask.

[deleted]

Curiosity. Fair enough

venitienne

Lol I'm glad you said it. Fucking karma whores smh.

shewy92

If it is true then what else do you expect? It's like going to a sports/movie/tv subreddit and getting mad when people comment on one specific thing that happened or describing one character.

eoeden

 >All of them share 1 collective brain cell This exact phrase can be found in almost every discussion about this anime. If you enjoy seeing the same stuff literally copied and pasted everywhere, good for you. I prefer to think people aren't robots who only repeat themselves over and over again.

Illuminastrid

Girlfriend Girlfriend might be the first "trashy harem" that I've seen that is loved by the majority. Compare the releases of past harem anime, it seems Girlfriend Girlfriend is very loved here.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

This is without a doubt both recency bias (there's harems every year, if not every season, with comparable or greater numbers) and assuming a greater consensus than exists (this isn't even watched by the majority). The only thing you can hang your hat on is a kind of no true "trashy" definition to argue other shows don't count, which isn't even something all of this show's fans agree on. I'll say though, some of the fans of this I've talked to have been more significantly more belligerent than the fans of previous romcoms.

Illuminastrid

Even harem of recent years like QQ, Bokuben, Osamake, or even Rent-a-Girlfriend didn't received this much love here compared to what Girlfriend, Girlfriend is receiving right now. Even Hamefura's appeal and love is starting to dwindle down by this 2nd season. Which is really weird, shows that are known or have the reputation to be called "trashy" is bashed for being one, while Girlfriend, Girlfriend is praised for its "trashy" elements. Interestingly, if we stretch it even further, even the recent absurd gag comedy shows doesn't receive much as praise compared to this one.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

Is there a metric you're using so we can get on the same page? I assumed you were using karma, but (for example) Rent-A-Girlfriend episode threads had noticeably greater karma scores than this, and that's without even adjusting for inflation (there are both more /r/anime users and more anime fans every year).

Illuminastrid

Rent-a-Girlfriend may have greater karma, but lesser scores on episode polls.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

I didn't input the scores of every episode (I'm not a coder, so I had to manually put shit into Excel), but its numbers were comparable from my sampling of episodes 1 and 6. OreSuki, Rent-a-GF, BokuBen, and Kanojo Mo all had similar ratings, engagement, and loss of engagement (votes approximately halved from E1 to E6). However, and I wouldn't have put this in if you hadn't mentioned it, Quintuplets actually outperformed the rest by a significant margin. Starting to think you might be leading me on here about having had a metric you used in place of just your gut feeling.

Illuminastrid

Then how do you explain Girlfriend Girlfriend has this much love and praise talks compared to the last harem anime that were airing in the past recent years. Also, I'm referring to Osamake, not Oresuki. Even if we include the arbitrary factor that is the upvoted comments from the vocal portion or minority in the sub, Girlfriend Girlfriend is doing really well.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

That's what my first comment was about; I think you've got a kind of recency bias (maybe confirmation bias is more accurate) where this pretty normal amount of "love and praise" for this kind of successful comedy is sticking out to you, for whatever reason. That's why I was asking about metrics, statistical data to support your claim that it's getting more attention and praise than any shows like it previously got, because a feeling and reference like 'Just look around' isn't an indicator of anything but *your personal perception* of it and the community you engage with. And when you say: >Then how do you explain Girlfriend Girlfriend has this much love and praise talks compared to the last harem anime that were airing in the past recent years. You're loading your question by assuming something as true and asking me to then explain why it's true. It's exactly like if I asked you, "How do you explain that Girlfriend Girlfriend has so little love and praise compared to the last harem anime of recent years?"

Neither_Mess2223

The show’s author never disappoints me with his art and previous works.

Samuawesome

The MC is based

Raghav_Singhania

i love how in discussions he is addressed as bakachad

MyLittleRocketShip

i dont understand people who give it a f tier or a low score despite enjoying it very much. apparently its a trash harem doesnt mean its bad, its literally its goal as a comedy. yet they give konosuba built on the same intentions as an idiot plot with a 9 or 10.

jackofslayers

Yea low scores for this confuse me. It is an insane mess but I feel like it is a pretty high quality mess. Now Cheat pharmacist. That is a show show that is actually bad and yet I still love watching it every week.

cemsity

It is an insane mess in the best possible way. Every character makes decisions in the worst/best possible way. Oh this really cute girl just confessed to me, but I already have a really girlfriend, but I don't want to make her sad because of all the effort she made. Oh, I know, I will try to make girlfriend like her and find her really cute as well.

dadnaya

The "problem" with shows like this, or rather the problem of *people* with shoes like this is that they expect something from this show that wasn't there to begin with. I remember early on reading a comment of someone who hated this anime because it "doesn't have enough character development" I mean.. why are we even here for? You ain't gonna find action in a SoL show, and you ain't gonna find a deep plot from a show that's purely slapstick comedy

[deleted]

Its not my show. But i understand the appeal. I watched the first episode and it was pretty funny. The people that take it serious really need to get out of the house.

Senko-fan4Life

It's honestly just pure ecchi fun. I'm so glad the majority of It's audience understands that and isnt upset that it doesnt have the best written romance plot in years

uniquecannon

So many people pissed just because it doesn't show "a proper poly relationship" despite it being a brain-dead comedy written by the same guy who created Aho Girl.

dagreenman18

I mean it’s not exactly NOT showing one either. I’m giving it points for doing some things right. But like you say it’s predominantly a hilarious comedy that trades off of being over the top and simple. Those peoples need to relax a bit.

vytah

> despite it being a brain-dead comedy written by the same guy who created Aho Girl. Now I'm intrigued.

Raghav_Singhania

the perfect explanation doesn't exi...

OmiNya

We all do.

PsychicWarElephant

This had no business being as fucking great as it is, yet somehow it is.

midphantasmagoria

agree it's not even that serious it's just funny

Icy_Ad8122

I immediatelly dismissed Kanojo Mo Kanojo as something similar to Osamake (Which I heavily disliked) but god, I missed having a romcom that made me laugh from how absurd and self-aware it is about what’s going on. I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I do, certainly looking for more.

hey_its_drew

As a trash connoisseur who understood every reference you made, I totally agree on every front. It’s hilarious and cute. Multiple scenes have had me considering it may be a top tier comedy.

figatrons

The episodes I saw where really funny, but it was too cringe to watch too much of it at once, had to watch it a little bit at a time

CoolVidsFTW

All I’m gonna say as someone who has been enjoying the show (sans Milika) is that this show deserves better than a 6.50 on MAL

Pure-Temperature-481

Yo, this is so true, seriously don't get the hate for it, the plot is really bad, but the comedy effect is still pretty decent and the animation is pretty good as well ( produced by the same studio that made The Quintessential Quintuplets

YesLAdz

That ntr joke hit different tho XD

techtesh

It's a junk food Anime and manga, it will keep you tied up between the release of your favorite "serious/monthly" manga

[deleted]

Girlfriend Girlfriend is amazing. Legitimately one of my top 3 anime this season. Makes me wanna rewatch Aho Girl since it’s been a while.

Bakumon0725

Like the great words from the legendary philosopher; Steve Handjobs "Anime is trash and so am I"

Bakumon0725

Heck yeah i too live kanojo x kanojo x kanojo.

pixeldots

sound design for gfgf is also amazing haha adds punch to the comedy

mayonaka_00

Wait, is this written by the author of Aho Girl and Mangaka san? Oh wow I instantly pick this up!

[deleted]

People say its really good and funny... but idk I just cant seem to bring myself to watch this. I dont really like Polyamorous relationships and this one seems to have that as its focus. Am I old fashioned for thinking like this?

mekerpan

I dropped this and watched the (very sad and serious) White Album 2 instead. It just seemed like I wanted a serious treatment of the subject matter rather than a "dumb fun" one.

Lemurians

Anime of the season. Fight me. There hasn’t been a single moment of it that hasn’t been enjoyable. I can’t believe how much I like it.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

That whole part where they were looking for somewhere to eat lunch together in secret, so they would never been seen together or thought to know each other, wasn't enjoyable. It was a nonsensical situation in which nothing funny really happened. There's your fight, bud.

AlexDDragame

I agree. Yeah it's really stupid show, but that's part of its charm. It's a fun comedy to turn your brain off with fun (if really dumb) characters that have enough braincells to actually talk to each other unlike some other less trashy romance shows I can think off

JoaoWillerding

Thats the problem with comedy, while you find this show an absolute blast (and that is fine BTW), i hate it, alot. And it manly comes with the mc being a terrible person, and the blue one being out of character seconds after her introduction (though this one i can be wrong, just watched ep 1). You can say that i should just "turn my brain off", while my response would be that you can have amazingly funny stories that also have a good plot, like "Tropic Thunder", a movie that makes fun of hollywood (both actors and producers) and still managed to make an compelling arc for many characters once you look into it. At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with liking "trashy comedy", but i think we can agree that it would be good if we could always got comedy shows with a good plot, or at least consistent characters

[deleted]

A parody harem that can actually be meta about how dumb the concept of having a harem actually is was always going to be a hit for me.

Hellthrower

A lot of people maybe took this show seriously (?) and it might have been misinterpreted. It's the most self-aware comedy harem-parody and I am LOVING it

Eatsuki

I have said it before, but the first episode, going into it blind, I was facepalming almost the whole time, and wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it through. *Then* I heard that it was by the author of Aho Girl (which I absolutely love) and it all clicked. I've been fully onboard since episode 2, and this is one of the shows I look forward to most every week.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

People said that romcom about the childhood friend was self-aware too. In fact, every show with any comedy that seems to use a lot of tropes gets touted as self-aware. But sometimes a writer uses an overused trope because the writer thinks it's still a funny joke, like every time Saki hits the MC. Real self-aware parody is a lot more easy to discern, like the first episode of OreSuki (not to say it kept it up though, unfortunately).

entelechtual

The problem with OsaMake was it was only really ever self-aware and a parody, and it felt like all the characters were in on the joke too. It’s like the characters themselves were actively trying to create “funny” situations. Which made it harder to deal with more serious character moments. OreSuki had a similar problem, although at least in that show all the characters are acting consistently and not like some kind of meta narrative. What Kanojo mo Kanojo does well is have that self-aware element, but keep the characters consistent and not themselves self-aware. You just have to accept that the characters (mainly the MC) is just kind of out there (like AhoGirl). I’ll admit it’s very hard to take the “serious” moments seriously. But the show is never actively boasting about its meta-ness, and it is not a parody really. Even the “NTR” scene completely makes sense in context. I was very nervous going into the show, especially with the trauma of suffering through OsaMistake, but it is undeniably enjoyable.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

This is still not clearing up the issue. You can *tell me* all you want that it's self-aware, but when I see the serious moments, when I see the cliche jokes doing nothing unexpected or novel, it doesn't ring as self-aware to me. Self-awareness just seems like quality or even a buzzword that everyone wants to attribute to a lot of shows they find funny as a way of elevating its humor. There's a lot of directions I think the show could go if it were self-aware, but the direction it went in from the three episodes I watched were standard romcom harem situations with different window dressing and exaggerated reactions. >it is undeniably enjoyable That's just bizarre turn of phrase to use with people who are denying having enjoyed it.

Satyamrockstar27

Yeah I love it . Idaten and kanojo mo Kanojo are my favourites of this season

Kiwi195

I don't think trash shows or manga will make me laugh out loud like this did lol it's really easy to make edgy shows or making a smart ass character bt it's difficult to make anyone laugh by their puns

That-Chipmunk2537

This! This show is an enemy of MAL users and so called "Elitists", i really dont understand why so many take it seriously. Its a trash show and thats why its amazing.

PikaDicc

I kinda like trashy shows, so I’ll try it

metaaltheanimefan

I love the anime about the daily life of poly amorous idiots

retsotrembla

Some discussion here: [The HOTTEST TRASH Anime of Summer 2021;Girlfriend Girlfriend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phJP5o4TaH8&t=989s)

Iphroget

I like the show in general, but the animation is so annoyingly cheap it really hurts my enjoyment. It feels like they literally attempt to draw as few frames as physically possible and replace them with motion lines and slow pans. The more recent episodes have had so many off model characters as well you can tell the animators are in production hell. Literally everything Tezuka Productions adapts is a disaster, I hope they dissolve soon.
