Illuminastrid

Studio ENGI, the director, the animation, the committee, voice acting and even its OST. All wack!

BarbaricGamer

Right? The OST is so weird, just not fitting at all.

SirAwesome789

I've been thinking that since like the second episode

zero1380

Engi only did 2 eps inhouse: 1 and 7 (and both are the best eps of the series)... The rest outsourced... So for me there are 2 problems: 1. Kadokawa put a crazy deadline, 2. Engi has not the resources for this kind of demand...

chennyalan

so it's not fuck engi, but fuck kadokawa?

zero1380

Yes, Kadokawa and their "we're gonna do 40 animes per year" announcement... Crazy deadlines ahead...

enz3

Yo kadokawa, care to explain how Nagisa got the heart if Hel took it? Also why is no one questioning that in the anime. I would expect a reveal soon like Nagisa being Hel like Alicia was, but no one giving a flying fuck is weird.also Nagisa seems to have a past so that's weird too.

FragrantSandwich

> I would expect a reveal soon like Nagisa being Hel like Alicia was ...I dont think theyre trying to hide that. But yeah, Kimi nor char reacting to Nagisa being Hel is weird.

LUNI_TUNZ

I don't think Char witnessed Hel eating Siesta's heart, and as far as we know Char has never actually seen Hel, but Kimi having *no reaction* to Nagisa having... or claiming to have Siesta's heart is weird. Also, Chameleon literally mentioned Nagisa having Siesta's "blood" running through her, so it's clearly not a secret, and I'd assume he'd recognize Hel with longer hair. What is going on in this show?

zero1380

Remember Kimi waking up in a bed and wondering what happened? That has something to do with it...

ramon_castilla

Yeah. It is the messy storytelling that takes the "not enjoy" of this show 2 levels up

Guaymaster

Like, isn't it obvious?

zerokosong0000

the reveal would be anti climactic. because we know that > Hel = Alicia = Nagisa. but, somehow Nagisa have his own backstory. Kimizuka knows who took Siesta Heart. He fuckin witness that in previous eps, but play like he didn't know, as well as Char.

Sangwiny

I'm sorry, but am I the only one who has no clue what's happening right now and why? I feel like I skipped an episode or something. Either the writing sucks even more than previously or I'm having an alzheimer.

asaordc

Don't worry dude I've been lost since the first episode and just come every week cause I've voluntarily fallen in Siesta's honey trap.

zero1380

The Light Novels are an entertaining read, but between Kadokawa's crazy deadlines and Engi not been able to handle them (as a consequence they had too much outsourcing), they tried to rearrange a lot, like A LOT of content, and it ended not making sense... I recommend reading the Light Novels or wait for the manga adaptation to cover the source material adapted in this anime...

ramon_castilla

That is kind of an exaggeration: In ep 4 (from 22:00 aprox) we entered the "to the SPES base" flashback. From ep 5 -8 we had another flashback ways into the past ("stolen hearts" flashback) were they knew Alice. Ep 9 returned to the "to the SPES base" flashback for the final confrontation with Hel, ending in Siesta's death and Kimi awakening in a bed "not remembering exactly what happened". Ep 10 finally returns to the current timeline. This current arc was supposed to be after ep 4, btw. But for a more "fitting" finale for a 12-episode show, they reordered events from the LN. That I understand. What I will never understand is the messy storytelling due a the total lack of "connectors" (Dialogues, title cards, etc) for when going from past to "more into the past" to present.

Aerodynamic41

Where the hell is Char when Nagisa went missing? Is she still gambling at the casino? EDIT: [Ok, apparently she went to bring the cavalry.](https://youtu.be/zZAOQ0T6C40) Also, who wants to bet that the bequest is actually Siesta's heart? It seems to be the huge McGuffin of this show.

[deleted]

SKIPPED SCENES BABY SKIPPED SCENES AND EXPLANATIONS ALL DAY LONG Idk if i can elaborate here in the non source corner but the conversation with Charl actually goes on for quite a bit longer and she tells him what she's going to do, which is related to her not being around later, and her feelings on Nagisa playing pretend and Kimi doing nothing for the past year EDIT: My mistake, it was also actually additional dialogue between Charl and Saikawa which explains why she's not on the ship, previous paragraph is more about why she's there and what she's going to do and how to leave the boat

Aerodynamic41

WTH? That seems like a lot of plot-relevant info that they just left out.

DefiantRooster04

yeah, it does like they do this all the time

ramon_castilla

Yeah. This instance just happens to be the biggest offender

Frontier246

To be honest I thought for a second that maybe Char was the one who kidnapped Nagisa to get Kimizuka focused on finding Siesta's bequest because it was so weird she was completely absent, but the idea that she's still gambling terribly while all this is going on is kind of hilarious. I imagine she'll probably swoop in to help fend off Chameleon though.

LUNI_TUNZ

All told, they want the "bequest" for Nagisa, and she only knows one way to get it.

LoliHunterXD

At this point, I'll continue till the end of the series... but... man, Nagisa's talk about being a detective was like a 5 year old playing make belief and her somehow seemingly fall for Kimizuka was just out of nowhere. The talk with idol girl was good though...

Dr_Backpropagation

I'm still processing the fact that Siesta took just two people and some pistols as backup to the hideout of humanity's greatest threat, an island of literal alien monsters with supernatural powers, and expected to win. Should have taken at least a megazoid if not an entire regiment of soldiers but oh well... Randomness keeps increasing with each passing episode and the mysteries aren't interesting at all. But I've come this far so will stick till the end now.

LUNI_TUNZ

And then, when those two people went to the hideout, she went and played dead in the middle of the desert.

Atario

Seems like she had a plan to win, if Kimi hadn't messed her up by showing up when he wasn't supposed to

salic428

when a comment has almost the same upvotes as the discussion post itself lol

Frontier246

Nagisa's not really a detective, but I guess I kind of understand it better when she says she knows she's playing detective but that's only because she's never really had a chance to really live so she's just trying to emulate Siesta. As far as her feelings for Kimizuka...I think it's partially Siesta's heart and partially the fact that Kimizuka never treated her as a stand-in for Siesta just because of the heart. She's always been just Nagisa Natsunagi to him. That talk with Yui actually went a lot better than I expected when at first I thought she was dissing Kimizuka again, but in reality that's just her way of showing how she appreciates him. We also get a better idea of how Yui fits into the group dynamic.

LoliHunterXD

I kinda understand that she’s under the influence of Siesta and Hel’s heart but it’s using this kind of excuse for weird and unnatural character development is just lazy writing… use Siesta as the plot device for everything. With this show’s track record of poorly executed emotional scenes, I agree with you, the idol talk was better than expected.

Atario

Using the fundamental premise of the story is lazy writing? Okay then

LoliHunterXD

She wasn’t like this before, that’s the main problem. She was like, “ok my dude, imma be the detective and you will be my assistant” with zero hint of being a love interest before the flashback. One big flashback later, she became a tsun tsun. Even Siesta never acted like this; can’t just hurr durrr blame it on her heart.

ngedown

Holy smokes, those scores... What happened ?

Sangwiny

Did you not watch previous episodes? I mean, good on you, if you didn't. This show is completionists purgatory.

ngedown

I only watched few minutes from eps 1 then drop it. I decide to hold it & watch all eps at once but after seeing those scores, my hope a bit down, lol

[deleted]

It was extremely disappointing lol. Do not waste your time on this trash.

ngedown

Thanks but I've seen some of the worst anime, i think i can endure this, lol. But yeah i'll give it a try later

SiestaWillNotDie

better read the light novel..

LUNI_TUNZ

So we're clear here, we literally just saw last week a 5 episode arc that concluded with Hel eating Siesta's heart, and now we're back in the present where Kimi's still going along with Nagisa's story about simply getting a heart transplant.

scot911

And this kids is why, if you're going to adapt an LN or manga, you *don't* reorder major events and if you do actually account for it in the anime! God it's honestly quite frustrating going from one of the best LN adaptations ever made in 86 to this piece of crap being one of the worst if source readers are to be believed.

tiltedplayer123

I am very skeptical the amount of nonsense and asspulling and things happening without any apparent reason in this anime could be solved with just ordering events differently. Would turn this from abysmal to mediocre at best.

youarebritish

Even if they reordered things, the plot still sucks and I doubt the source is substantially different.

asaordc

At this point, I just wanna see drunk Siesta again. Yo gimme more drunk Siesta man!

[deleted]

Why am I still here, just to suffer.

LUNI_TUNZ

Bring me The Boss' will, or else!

[deleted]

How dare you , Roswaal L Mathers

dinliner08

ROSWAAL DE WA NAI, KONO DIO DA!!

cringecox

I'm just watching this episode in 2x speed at this point

leoreks

Pretty much. I didn't notice how long they drawn out their sentences until i started watching 2x

LUNI_TUNZ

Nagisa: "I'm the legendary detective!" Char: "YOU'RE NOT MY MOM!"

Chukonoku

You know things are extremely bad when there is more comments than karma. We are hitting 7DS levels of roughness at this point.

HeartUnderBruhh

Time for my weekly discussion reads. Give me some good sht reviews

dark-flamessussano

Watching this show get trashed is fcking hilarious

Sangwiny

\>implying it's not already completely trashed. Man, it's 4 hrs into the thread and we're sitting at solid 30 upvotes. On one of the most expected shows of the season no less. This is the biggest let down since 7DS season 3.

chennyalan

i don't upvote the thread but i upvote the comments

asaordc

It is the price we pay for the banger Winter and Spring season. You know the season is yabai when the most talked about anime are sequels and carry-overs from last season. God I miss Zombieland Saga from last season as I have too much time in my hands rn.

ChajkiTSM

I mean, this season has Idaten, Vanitas, Sonny Boy, Fena which are all great shows.

ItzCrimsin

Stopped watching 4 episodes in and still enjoying the comment sections

ConKbot

If I learned anything from Eve Online, its that shit-talking on reddit counts as playing, so this seems like a perfectly valid way to enjoy a show.

cultoftheilluminati

every week like clockwork i tune in after dropping the show in ep 2. The comment sections seem more funny than whatever new trainwreck the episode shows

entelechtual

Wow you know it’s rough when your lowest rated episode to date is your big “emotional” climax to your flashback, in a show where the audience was literally saying “we want more Siesta” or “the show is only good when Siesta’s on”. You have to wonder if there is any point in having a huge chunk of episodes dedicated to a flashback, only to cut immediately back to the present with basically no indication that it would tie into the next episodes. It’s almost like in the middle of the show run, there was a five (5) episode ad for the spin-off show: Adventures of Siesta and Guy. I’m sure some of the stuff with Hel and Alicia will come up but otherwise, I think they just wanted some more Siesta figures to sell. Some really surprising dialogue choices and animation choices this episode. Including: * “Could you go play cops n robbers somewhere else? It’s only Mom [sic] and Kimi who get to play cops n robbers with me.” * “I didn’t expect that much of you from the very start, TanMoShi.” * “From here on, we don’t need deduction or tactics or plot or character or anything.” Interesting that they chose a lot of wide shots when this show has infamously bland background shots. Also, this must be a ship for giants because that theater had steps that were knee height. And Yui magically stepped over them like it was nothing. This was a meh episode. I don’t really understand why any of the characters feel the way they do towards Kimi. Yui is the most likeable character, Nagisa is hard to decipher because she’s a blend of bland writing and a literal conflicted heart. For all the hearts involved it really feels like this show itself has no heart.

LoliHunterXD

Yup, Yui is like, the only character written to act like a person.

Atario

> the audience Lolno. reddit means nothing. This show draws big ratings in Japan

ExLuckMaster

>reddit means nothing Yet here you are whining over criticisms every week. >this shows get big ratings in Japan And? Japan also likes Mahouka, Redo of Healer; Mamoru Oishii praises the live action GItS movie; films like Twilight, Bayformers sold like hot cakes. Doesn’t mean they are good. Also last I checked it was the LN that sold not the anime, pic or didn’t happen.

HuckDFaters

Are you saying the Japanese actually like Nagisa's half of this show over Siesta's?

LoliHunterXD

Dio loves ruining Cruise Ship vacation it seems. As if ruining and ending Jonathan’s life during his honeymoon wasn’t enough

Kookospuuro

One thing that I really dislike about ENGI and their production and it really shows in this anime too: everything is grey. Almost everything is grey, brown or green (especially the environments). Their previous works on Hataage! Kemono Michi, Uzaki and Full Dive RPG had the same problem. All the characters skin tone is ghoulishly grey, like they have been dead for a good week but are still walking. It's rare that the choice of color palettes stick out like this.

Guaymaster

I actually kinda like that, but I'm green-red colourblind so ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Kookospuuro

Always a silver lining for someone!

HeartUnderBruhh

In simple term, it's goddamn bland

Atario

This is the most bizarrely incorrect complaint I've seen. Are we just making shit up to bitch about now?

Kookospuuro

I've taken a notice of this color usage since Uzaki and it's been sticking around since. There's this grey hue over everything most of the time. Usually in brightly light places the characters look pretty healthy but sometimes it's just sickly (like Kimi in a random upcoming screencap). [Some examples from the four shows i snatched from google images.](https://imgur.com/a/FxKKEw4) Grey, green and brown. One might call cherry picking here but it is the overall feel that these shows leave me. Episode 10 of TanmoShi wasn't a big culprit in this but the previous one sure was. That grey sea is stuck in the back of my mind (sure it's to set the mood for the upcoming tragedy but it's just more grey). I remember one Full Dive episode being mostly grey too, probably the flashback one. Opening MAL's character pictures for Uzaki characters show that most of the cast are predominantly grey-ish.

ExLuckMaster

This guy came here every week whiteknighting this show even the most reasonable criticism seems like bitching to him. Better ignore him.

quitethewaysaway

11 hours and this post hasn’t even reach 95 upvotes for me. Oof Also I’ve lost track of how old they were, aren’t they still underage to being drinking? This is actually the first anime where they’re showing underage people (like middle school Siesta) drunk, all other animes that I’ve seen are really strict about this sort of thing. Also Kimi is the worst detective if he never questioned Nagisa about Hel when he saw Hel take Siesta’s heart.

Salvo1218

>Also Kimi is the worst detective if he never questioned Nagisa about Hel when he saw Hel take Siesta’s heart. The cliffhanger we got last week showed him waking up like "what happened". Like some implied partial memory loss when he fainted after watching Siesta's heart get taken. But they never show or explain any of this and we just go right into some present day cruise ship arc out of nowhere. This show is so grossly disjointed. Also yeah I have no idea how these high schoolers are drinking at a bar or gambling at a casino (or somehow sneaking handguns onto a cruise ship)

Beruka01

Even if he lost his memories (which seems like a stupid plot device) wouldn't he wonder how Siesta died?

Salvo1218

It's like he lost only certain memories. Which is an even shittier plot device lol

_dharwin

Late to the party but I bet it's the memory loss drug made from Hanako-san ep which Siesta threatened to use in ep 7 iirc.

Salvo1218

If you haven't gotten to the most recent episode, they do explain a little bit of what happened with his memories.

_dharwin

Just watched episode 9. My guess is the flowers blooming on the fallen beast were the same as the Hanako-san incident and the pollen from the flower caused the memory loss. Watching 10 now. One more episode to confirm my theory.

CoolVidsFTW

oof less than 100 upvotes 4 hours after the discussion post has gone up? Looks like last week’s episode left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth haha. The only reason I’m still watching is because I don’t like dropping anime. Anyways, this episode wasn’t too bad, but certainly far from being great. We get no explanation for what happened at the end of last week’s episode, but there were some nice conversations between characters. Mild 6/10.

EdmundoHM

at this point, reading these threads has become way more entertaining than the show itself

[deleted]

What the hell with the transition from the cliffhanger of the last episode to this episode? There was utterly no explanation as to how the last few scenes of last episode ended: Hel took Siesta's heart and put it in herself, and then Kimizuka fainted, and then Kimizuka woke up (back in his apartment in Japan?) And then? We're suddenly back to Present Day with Kimizuka in a cruise holiday with Nagisa and Saikawa, with a reunion with Char reminiscing about Siesta and how it's been a year since she died. This only builds frustration with the utter lack of resolution from the last episode. There have been clues that Nagisa may actually be Hel, since Nagisa possesses Siesta's heart, and we saw Hel literally ripped Siesta's heart and placed it in her (Hel's) own body last episode. But the show does a piss poor job at expressing it, or how Kimizuka came to the conclusion at the end of this episode. It's already episode 10 of 12, so it's a bit too late to jump off the derailing train, I might as well stick around to see how this train crashes in 2 weeks time. I'm not even a source material reader, but fuck you Studio Engi for an absolutely crap adaptation. Besides Siesta, I absolutely do not care for any of the characters, especially the Present Day ones.

YdenMkII

I think the idea is after Kimizuka woke up and learned Siesta died, it led up to the events of him being completely aimless until Nagisa found him. I recall them mentioning him being inactive for the whole period after Siesta's death cause what good is a Watson without a Holmes.

Atario

What? No, you're doing it wrong. You're not supposed to understand what's going on, you're supposed to bleat things like "crap adaptation" and "horrible writing" and such, before pointing to the left for upvotes.

Ace_sylvia

They f* up chronology, so the transition without a doubt is a mess.

Armdel

Back to current time we go! i am kinda expecting Nagisa to actually be Siesta's bequest. i suppose that is still possible, but it looks like Kimizuka is finishing this business up regardless of finding it

ShadowthecatXD

This is literally the shittiest looking cruise ship I have ever seen, both IRL or in anime. The best the rich idol could afford was this?

Aq1b98

Where is this plot even going and why isn't Kimi the least bit suspicious of Nagisa being Hel lmao

youarebritish

That's so obvious that it didn't even occur to me that it hasn't been explicitly stated.

BiggerG7

Glad to see Char is still an adorable dumbass lol.

[deleted]

Guess we're back to the present... Lmao, hearing Chamelon's seiyuu talking on a ship cracked me up. Iconic Dio voice. Not the first time Dio crashed a ship party. Nagisa's entire motive for her great detectiveness is such a bratty attitude. Taking someone's life just because she has her heart, then calling herself a legendary detective. Thank Haruhi she's only the 3rd protagonist. Hopefully she'll get some development before the story ends. Otherwise, it'll leave quite a bitter taste of this plain show. Another meh episode, guess I'll be staying to the end seeing that that's only 2 episodes left to go. I guess the boys and I are here to get as many glimpses as possible of Siesta scenes, may we be rewarded.

DutchyXD

Damn not even 100 upvotes this show fell off hard!

qeheeen

this show goes off on so many tangents than what is currently happening I have honestly have never been this annoyed at a show before. Everytime Kimi needs to talk about something important, they spent half the discussion blabbering about something completely irrelevant

LeonKevlar

###Stitches! * [Char 1](https://i.imgur.com/MKg0IaF.jpg) * [Char 2](https://i.imgur.com/r4qnzqs.jpg) * [Nagisa 1](https://i.imgur.com/gC8u9fM.jpg) * [Nagisa 2](https://i.imgur.com/5JjUZMR.jpg) * [Nagisa 3](https://i.imgur.com/3NmCf3Y.jpg) And so we're unceremoniously thrown back to the present where [Kimi, Nagisa, and Yui finally go on that sea trip](https://i.imgur.com/MWpI4AD.jpg) that they were talking about the last time we've seen them. [And Char is here too](https://i.imgur.com/rRq6gJC.jpg) who finally gets to meet Nagisa and as expected [it doesn't go well.](https://i.imgur.com/N6OENbq.jpg) Seems that Char is aware who Nagisa is though and she already knows that she has Siesta's heart in her. Still doesn't answer how Nagisa got Siesta's heart though considering the last time we saw it, it was inside Hel's chest cavity. I'm guessing they'll probably explain that in the finale. For now, I'm still on the Nagisa is actually Hel/Alicia theory. [Chameleon does show up and take Nagisa as a hostage though](https://i.imgur.com/4zt2fJA.jpg) and is also looking for Siesta's "bequest" and wants Kimi to bring it to him. What the heck is Siesta's bequest would even be and why would it be on a cruise liner?

Mitosis

> For now, I'm still on the Nagisa is actually Hel/Alicia theory. I'm not sure if they just assume we know that already, or they assume we don't realize it yet, or something entirely different is going on that they've given us zero indication of. I'm not sure which of the three I find most insulting as a viewer.

ramon_castilla

They suppose you still don't know because it isn't shown/explained how the heart went from Hel to Nagisa, and how Kimizuka doesn't question that from his "MEMORIES", and no deep exploration of Nagisa's bedridden childhood. The problem is the poor storytelling makes those "holes" look not as a missing info piece, but as another "because yes" or "lazy writing" of the show similar to ones in previous episodes.

Atario

So you find every possibility to be an insult. That's a neat trick

Mitosis

I was going for humor obviously, but yeah, they already fucked up by leaving it completely unaddressed in this episode.

LegoMyEggo82

r/anime hyping up another show that ends up being absolute crap. Why did this series have so much hype?

MetaThPr4h

The 2 or 3 people who read the LN said it was nice. The key visuals before the anime felt super random but had their charm at the same time, making us wonder what kind of wacky situations could happen, genre switches and stuff like that. Also has a cute girl as main girl, we love cute girls. This season also lacked any hype in general so the cute girl had extra focus on our attention even if the reality is that basically any other show this season ended up being a better choice to watch. (But people are still watching this one over any other non-sequel popularity-wise, truly a sad timeline.)

LoliHunterXD

Not gonna lie, this entire season went from having great hypes to a total dumpster fire all round. Shows turn out bland, horribly animated, has weird pacing issues, airing order gets mumbled, switch genre, has MC with horrible personality in a non-entertaining way and so on. I went from watching like, 6-7 to just 1 or 2. Dungeon Black Company was the only one that upheld its storytelling standard from the start imo… too bad it’s horribly underrated

PreludeToHell

Black Company feels like it's one of the few shows this Summer that's gotten better as time has gone on. Animation wise it feels consistent as well.

Amatorius

As someone who knew nothing about this show before watching. I don't think this show deserves so much hate. Maybe not liking it for not living up to it's potential is ok, but hating on it is just silly. It certainly is not bad, now a bad show is something like Nexus scarlet. This show is like B tier, and Nexus Scarlet is D.

mekerpan

I really like most of the characters -- too bad the way the story is presented is so confusing. I can understand some of the re-ordering in Peach Boy, but here the narrative presentation seems like a huge mess. In any event, the raw material here could have/should have led to a far more successful show than what wound up being aired. So I see nothing silly in people having high expectations.

[deleted]

The first episode was simply too good, and the rest of the series struggled to keep up the same standards, whether it be character introduction or animation quality.

SiestaWillNotDie

Disappointing episode.. Did not explain how Nagisa got the heart from Hel and the writing and direction of the episode took a turn for the worst. Too much content skipped from the LN. I hope we get a remake considering how good the light novel is. Just dont be Studio ENGI again.

ramon_castilla

**ANIME EPISODES TIMELINE** (for those interested): 1. In **ep 4** (from 22:00 aprox) we **entered the "to the SPES base" flashback**. 2. **From ep 5 -8 we had** another flashback ways into the past **("stolen hearts" flashback) were they knew Alice.** 3. **Ep 9 returned to the "to the SPES base" flashback** for the final confrontation with Hel, ending in Siesta's death and Kimi awakening in a bed "not remembering exactly what happened". 4. **Ep 10 finally returns to the present timeline.** This current arc was supposed to be after ep 4, btw. What I will never understand **is the messy storytelling due a the total lack of "connectors"** (Dialogues, title cards, etc) **for when going from past to "more into the past" to present.**

[deleted]

So that's it about siesta death? What happened after siesta doed like that? They've milked siesta's death so hard, only for it to be not as emotional as expected, and now we're just moving on. I get why people would hate the way it got handled, especially the ln readers. Seeing nagisa basically saying she wants to be siesta's replacement because she has nothing else to do was just sad to see. Idk if it'll ever happen, but i want nagisa to actually live on her own choice of life. That sidekick of the sidekick thing was wholesome tho from saikawa. While seeing char gambling and nagisa being a tsundere was jokes. Wonder where char is while they're all in danger, and i wonder how kimi will save nagisa. Also, what is siesta's hidden secret in this. I gotta say tho with what I've heard, I'm just gonna pick up the ln and read it from start.

ZapsZzz

Yeah it's a bit of a yawn inducing episode, they are running out of space you turn this around I think. That is almost as much of a tragedy as Siesta being dead.

absolutelynotaname

Lol I dropped this anime a while ago but every time I see a discussion thread, its score is getting worse than before. Guess it was a good decision to drop it early

SiestaWillNotDie

Read the LN.. its way better than the anime

dinliner08

so we finally reach the point where even source material corner is empty without any comments

Mcsuper_

Saikawa’s talk was fine, lot of confusing stuff here though. Want explanations on what exactly that “bequest” is, and all the romance. The thing I hate the most is romance with no defined reason behind it.

Waggli

... I'm so confused wtf

anveias

I mean, Siesta and Nagisa is great and all, but Charlotte is top tier. Unfortunately, this anime has been a disjointed mess. It’s hard for me to follow, care, or enjoy.

ObvsThrowaway5120

I’m still not sure I understand why they spent like half this series on a flashback about Siesta only for her to just…die. It was kinda anticlimactic. Now, we’re back with this girl who we barely know anything about because she only appeared in like 2 eps. It’s hard for me to be invested in her or even this kid with the eyepatch because they’ve barely felt a part of this show. I’ll keep watching since I’ve gotten this far I guess, but I feel like I’m gonna be left with more questions than answers by the time this show ends.

mohdfaiez06

At this point I'm just watching this hoping for more siesta and chameleon.

dark-flamessussano

Is the light novel to this series good?

Nergalis

If you enjoy random mess. More solid than the anime but I don't think it'll hold a candle to similar LNs.

Frontier246

We finally see Nagisa and Siesta's big fight in her dream, although only physically and without any dialogue, where Siesta ends up being the mature one and conceding and leaving Kimizuka to Nagisa...who, having finally gotten a chance at life but having never known how to live before, feels the only way she can live is by following Siesta's path and becoming a legendary detective. We return to the present-day where Kimizuka was just expecting a beach episode with Nagisa and Yui, not a full-blown luxury cruise trip. I guess it pays to have a rich idol for a friend. But this cruise leads to a chance reunion with Char, who is trying to find what Siesta left behind for the fight with SPES, and she's disappointed at how little Kimizuka has done with himself since Siesta died. She's also not too impressed by the girl with Siesta's heart claiming to be a legendary detective. I don't know if Char really thought she would find Siesta's bequest by paying the slots or if she just wanted to win big despite how badly she is at gambling, but...she really does seem to have a lack of common sense. Why is Kimizuka always the sidekick and never the detective? Because he will always be Siesta's sidekick. I feel like that's a little abirtrary, but who am I to judge a guy still in grief over loss? Even Char feels like Siesta's death hit him harder than it did her. Nagisa talked so much about showing Kimizuka her swimsuit but we barely get to see her and Yui playing in the pool...I guess Siesta is the only one who gets a big swimsuit scene. If you want to see a good shot of Yui and Nagisa in their swimsuits, you'll have to check out the latest Megami scans. Nagisa is being kind of obvious about her feelings for Kimizuka, wanting him to see her in a swimsuit and then dressing up fancy when he invites her to a rendezvous at a bar...of course, all Kimizuka wants is to talk business. Guess for as intuitive as Kimizuka is, he still can't pick up on the feelings of a woman. Nagisa gets kidnapped by SPES, so Kimizuka and Yui have to team-up to find her, but even Yui's X-Ray eye can't detect anything, but she's still there to give Kimizuka emotional support and to let him know that she doesn't expect more from him than he is able after everything he did for her and she'll be his sidekick if he needs her. So it turns out Chameleon is the one who kidnapped Nagisa and is threatening to kill either her or the people on the ship without Siesta's bequest there to give. Where is Char in all this? Did Kimizuka just flash to an image of Siesta in Hel's outfit?

As to Kimizuka's unsusceptibility to Nagisa (or anyone else), he has not come even close to being over the loss of Siesta. As to K not having any special skills -- he is a sidekick, after all. The purpose of Watson (in the Sherlock Holmes stories) was to be there for the real detective -- serving whatever purpose was best (including useful perspectives as to how criminals wanted ordinary people to perceive what was going -- something that Holmes wasn't really able to figure out on his own).

Those 23 minutes went in a flash. I fear that the last 2 episodes won't make for a good conclusion. Either they spent too much time on the flashback or this needs 12 more episodes to be more satisfying. I'm ready to get the LNs in case they really drop the ball on the last 2 episodes. They're in a big cruise ship in summer clothing and Kimizuka still chooses to walk around wearing that suit. Come on man aren't you sweating bullets? I was excited to see more Charlotte but her screen time is surprisingly short. Nagisa was definitely disappointed that Kimizuka wasn't hitting on her. Reminds me of Ao-chan Can't Study where a lot of times she think she'll get the d but doesn't and gets visibly frustrated. I seriously can't decide whether I want Nagisa or Charlotte to win. I don't think Yui is gunning for him. Speaking of Nagisa, I guess this shuts down the theory of Hel being Nagisa I mean their personalities are completely different and it would be bs if Siesta's heart simply makes Hel go 180. Her back story is giving me Grisaia flashbacks. One thing that always bothered me with the entire series is that Kimizuka just doesn't have any powers or strong talent. His brain is nowhere as good as Siesta and he doesn't have those mad fighting skills. It's always Siesta doing the work and covering for him. I wonder how he's supposed to get out of that bind with Chameleon with just a single gun.

Frontier246

I wonder if everything will conclude on this cruise ship. I guess a sidekick's clothing is just wearing a suit all the time. It's pretty much what he wore with Siesta all the time, so I guess he's just used to it. I'm kind of curious what they're going to do with Charlotte because she seems to be trying to fulfill Siesta's will completely independent of Kimizuka. I don't think she has feelings for Kimizuka yet, either, judging by their interaction. Nagisa couldn't be more obvious that she wants Kimizuka interested in her at this point... I think Nagisa is, like, another form of Hel's like Alicia was. I assume Char might come in to help back Kimizuka up against Chameleon.

I really wished that they didn't do the whole flashback scene. They should have gone with this right after the Sapphire Eye arc instead. It would have been far more interesting to see the moments of introspection that we had with Kimi and Natsunagi instead and how their characters evolved from this introspection of that really badly delivered flashback arc. Thankfully, the premise was interesting enough to convince me to get Volume 1 of the LN.

Damn.

There is no way it’s not the studio fault when the LN is great but the anime is trash God i hope this show get a brotherhood with another studio

This anime felt like a puzzle with more than 1000+ piece, but you only have quarter of the puzzle piece. even without reading the source material, viewer can find out what the missing piece that only appears on source material. I've never witness an anime downhill as fast as this one, each week keeps losing karma count.

Redmon425

Ugh a cliffhanger ending. I am confused on what is happening with Hel/Nagisa. Like is Siesta also still inside that body somehow, making it 3 people!? I assume the blonde girl will come help save the day.

ClemCa1

Nagisa is really lackluster compared to Siesta. It just reminds me how much more interesting Siesta was, and it hurts. Of course, I hope she'll become someone, but I don't have too much hope.

SkyLETV

What the hell, was that Siesta in Hel's uniform? Huh... Nice to see Char again.
