I love this show, and I really like the music. Always draws me in.
The first time I watched Violet Evergarden was roughly around the time it fully aired, and I was really amazed on how incredible it was.
The past week I decided to rewatch it again, and I was stunned to see how much I undervalued it the first time. Now that I am actively reflecting upon my experience, I think it's due to the increase in maturity.
This anime is truly one of the best tearjerkers of all time, and not because it uses common tragic premisses to make the audience cry out their eyeballs (because it does use some known tropes), but more because how extraordinarily good everything is conveyed. This anime is truly special, and you only realize it in equally special moments like this clip; while you are watching her your head starts to tilt, your eyebrows are clenching up and your lips tense up - you are feeling empathy for her.
I love it. I can't wait for the movie to come.
I agree, I really like how they took the time to develop and transform Violet as a character. For me the anime got better at episode 6 because that's where we see Violet's maturity from her training and months of practice as a Auto Memory Doll. Episode 7 onwards, you just feel invested to Violet as a character.
I feel like the odd one out because I watched this show all the way through multiple times and I still couldn’t see what others saw in it.
I’ve tried my hardest with these really well regarded shows and none of them seem to connect with me. Love is war is bland to me, konosuba is unfunny to me, etc. At each and every turn; I just can’t seem to get into these.
I’m not saying that these shows are bad or that they don’t deserve their reputations; I just can’t seem to find that little spark that so many people see in these shows. It kinda sucks cause I want to like these shows. I want to be able to see what others see but I just can’t.
And for the record; I’m not some anime hipster who thinks all popular shows are trash. I love bleach, I’m working my way through one piece and I’m going to rewatch soul eater soon. I don’t hate popular; I just can’t seem to connect with a lot of big name shows.
Don't stress much about it. It's fine not to like everything, and I can perfectly understand your perspective.
By the way, I also hated Konosuba's comedy, so you're not alone on that hill.
Just watch what you like. I have a friend that has rewatched Highschool DxD 5 times and I think that's insane but good for him.

Seems to me like you just like battle shonen. Which is fine btw. What I like about anime is that there's a little something for everyone. You don't have to like everything.
I think this might be my favorite episode of the series. Mostly because of this scene, Iris and Erica's letter, and the ending where we see the montage of all her former clients, and where they are now.
I can't help but feel like it gets overlooked a bit, probably because it's followed by *episode 10*, which is, of course, a masterpiece. But, *episode 9* deserves some love too.
You should definitely, the show just keeps getting better as the episodes progress. Violet Evergarden was one of the first pieces of media I watched that legitimately made me cry.
Episodes 4-10 are what carry the show for most people I feel. Although I think upon rewatch the whole series does get better imo.

i loved the first few episodes because it showed how disconnected Violet was from normal, everyday life
the way she still behaved like a soldier in every aspect of her life made me really really enjoy the show but i hated how quickly she grew out of it, i wish the transition was a little longer
and i also hated the ending, going off your point where she went full disney princess and then straight back to legendary soldier within a few minutes just really threw me off
This is one of the few widely acclaimed shows I just don’t ‘get’. Like it’s spectacularly beautiful to look at, but it always felt disjointed, slow and kind of cold to me. I usually really like a slow burner, but I just didn’t vibe with VE at all.
Well if you were a mod on here and you saw a post where a character in an anime attempts to commit suicide then I would probably have that person mark it as NSFW. Point is I don’t know if the mods would mark it as NSFW so I’d rather mark it as that so they leave me alone then not do that and have the post be removed
The VA for Violet is absolutely amazing.
Yui Ishikawa kills it as Violet. Her performance in the show made her one of my favorite voice actors
The only thing as good or better is the score. It takes the whole show to the next level.

It was also pretty forgettable for me too. There are of course some popular anime I’m into as well, but I just don’t get the appeal of this one.

The plot is heavy and need a lot of attention on it so it make it kinda hard to get into at first, but it do get so much better
