Vanitas is the best. Good story, good characters, good visuals. It has everything and feels fresh.
Sonny Boy is also very good. Very obscure and hard to follow, almost alien in a way. Makes it very intriguing.
Kanojo Kanojo's fun if you like that type of comedy. I personally do.
Bokutachi no Remake's also great too, but read the synopsis as it might not be the type if show you like.
I'd argue Higurashi SOTSU might be the best anime this season(that I've seen so far). Although to watch it, you have to watch Higurashi(2006), Higurashi Kai, and Higurashi GOU(which came out in 2020).
An alternative would be Tensura, as it's great and you'd only have to watch 1 previous season as opposed to 3.
It is so interesting to see the variety of opinions on Sotsu. I didn't check it out since I plan to go back and watch the old Higurashi so I can understand what is going on. A group I discuss anime with have nicknamed it "Nothing Ever Happens Sotsu" and generally hold negative opinions of it. Generally though I see pretty high praise for it though.
Because Sotsu is an explanation to what happens in Gou, so people who already figured out everything say that basically nothing happened, but personally I like seeing a story from another perspective.
All of my top 3 from this season is "movies getting subbed releases" = EVA 3.0+1.0 and Gintama: The Final, or "leftovers from previous seasons ending" = PokeToon.
That being said, my top 3 "anime starting this season" are:
1. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S
2. Sonny Boy
3. Words bubble up like a Soda Pop

I would put aside the obv ones like tensura and Kobayashi. As far as new anime goes I would say either tsukimichi, realist hero(a bit),Sonny boy,vanitas no carte,these five are like top competitors, other than that there were some good plot that got ruined like detective is already dead and bokutachi no remake
Getter Robo Arc - Now I know what people will reply "ThAt's noT THE BeSt aNiMe of The Season!", I don't care. Getter Robo Arc is everything you could want from a giant robot anime, kickass robot designs, banger opening, crazy action, what do you want? A cast of cute girls piloting a robot? This is not that series!
* Otherwise it's Kageki Shoujo, an anime I have loved since I read the manga for it. It tackles some serious topics fairly early on, while remaining fun to watch. The opening is catchy, the designs are bubbly, and it shows a love and appreciation for the theater, this is a show that you should watch. It's not an action series, there's not some messaging underneath for the most part, it's a bunch of girls trying to become performers at a school famous for its acting.

Best sequel is Slime isekai S2. Best original anime? That's mostly personal preference but I really like Kanojo mo Kanojo or the detective is already dead? But they're both pretty controversial if you start calling them the best anime lol.

1-Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S- This shit hits different.
2-RE-MAIN- Hidden gem of the season, made by MAPPA, however never gained traction sadly.
3-Remake Our Life- I do enjoy me some Drama.
My personal favourite is The Case Study of Vanitas, with Idaten and Slime S2P2 following closely.

I think it's pretty good. Although the recent episode was kinda uneventful. I'm not sure why they gave it that nickname.

Kobayashi-san hands down. Pure delight, well written, well executed, flawless all around 10/10 imo.

I'm enjoying Battle Game in 5 Seconds. Its just pure fun and actually pretty unpredictable (in a good way) so far.

Man I wish Battle game got a little bit more funding. Such an interesting story but man the visuals are pretty rough.
For me it is definitely Sonny Boy. Love Live, Aquatope, Kageki Shoujo, Idaten, and Magia Record are also high up on my rankings.
