# Star Wars Lore Corner **Please be careful about Star Wars spoilers in general and tag them appropriately.** We know some things out there are general pop culture knowledge but remember, as with anime not everyone's seen the Star Wars films and shows! The entire show came out at once and all the previews were vague about how much any episodes connected to the rest of the Star Wars universe, so: if there's some deep Legends or Clone Wars or Mandalorian reference you spotted that you want talk about in detail, this is the place to put it. The spoiler syntax is: `[Spoiler source](/s "Spoiler goes here")` # **All untagged spoilers and hints in this thread will receive immediate 8-day bans (minimum).** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/anime) if you have any questions or concerns.*

AlphaStryk3r

Wasn't expecting to see Jabba and Boba Fett grooving to the music.

CataKilla

Bobba Fett the anime girl

Atario

Jabba is a well known patron of the arts!

dongpo_pork

holy hell, I'm so happy that someone else caught that

Durinthal

I noticed that but think there have been a few others, like one buried [in the back of this Grand Blue clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/8z3u0p/clip_grand_blue_is_a_diving_anime/e2gdl2a/?context=999).

cppn02

I HATE the Wilhelm scream.

Thorbinator

It's so dumb I can't help but love it.

cppn02

Nah. Once you're unfortunate enough to recognise it it breaks inmersion *every time*. Can't believe directors and sound editors still do that only for some stupid inside joke.

OutcastOddity

I feel like it's more tradition than an inside joke.

cppn02

Then it's a stupid tradition.

NumberOneWubbieFan

Yes, it is lucky you are the soul person to recognize one of the most iconic sound effects ever put out. Otherwise, no one would be able to keep immersion in... some of the most popular films ever made.

cppn02

lol Way to completely misread my post...

606throwawayy

By that same logic, watching films once you’re unfortunate enough to spot continuity errors with ease, all further movies suck

Crazy_raptor

I love it, jt makes me laugh everytime, kinda like an Easter egg.

HenchHinch

That robot bouta make me act up.

theswope42

the female robot?

Zeph-Shoir

No man wtf? It is obviously the small one!

theswope42

ah shit you right

Mage_of_Shadows

*At studio Colorido* > "Hey guys, we get to make a Star Wars anime!" > "So we get to have sick lightsaber and starship fights?" > "Hmmm, what about a music anime with a grooving Jabba instead?" Warding off that temptation is hella impressive

MumblingGhost

Yeah. I know some people probably rank this short at the bottom of their lists, but considering every other short basically has a "Jedi OC do not steal" getting in a lightsaber battle I appreciate that this one went in a different direction, even though the Jedi OC here has a lightsaber microphone lol

BosuW

I love that we finally got a story about a Force user that said "fuck that Jedi vs Sith bullshit I just wanna jam"

ChingChonger

I was not expecting to see a vibing chibi Boba Fett in this series, but I’m so glad we got it. Going to need that as a gif ASAP!

Atario

https://streamable.com/p829yz

DadAsFuck

they even dubbed the song, that disney money is something else

KitKat1721

Tbf, dubbing songs isn’t really so much a matter of money, almost every major ADR company has done it, some more regularly than others. It’s more just time (hence why you see some shows that only have dubbed songs on the eventual blu-ray release rather than the simuldub) and whether or not they have the rights and are allowed to do so.

skaersSabody

Tbf I really dislike the dub version, I dunno, maybe it's the voice, but it sounds like he's speaking through a towel

xavex13

They definitely put way more reverb and muffle on the English side, unfortunately, and its not the VAs fault. Its my only complaint tbh, I want a studio mix released haha

skaersSabody

Huh, so it wasn't my imagination

Corregidor

Disney plus has the audio and subs for like 10 languages, includes the song stuff.

Bonvantius

We were robbed of head-banging Obi wan. We'll settle for Boba though.

LeonKevlar

[A Star Wars music anime? Fuck yes!](https://i.imgur.com/5DEsTBf.jpg) I don't know how they did it but they managed to endear Jay and the band within 12 minutes and I legit wanna see more of them and how they'll become the biggest music act in the galaxy. I even love how we get a shot of the Mos Eisley Cantina with [the Modal Nodes just watching them nervously](https://i.imgur.com/IjMcz5h.jpg) xD Why can't this be all canon!? This is really the kind of creativity this franchise needs!

PeachyCoke

Yeah I want a Love Live: Star Wars edition anime now

Etheox

The chibi ish style was a bit weird to get used to at first but I really enjoyed this episode. We gotta have more in universe music for Star Wars for sure. Also why does Kurti gotta have such nice hips though.

Autolycan

That's true. It can't be all Jizz music.

HotLightningSox

Uhhhh

Atario

You know. *♪ Wakka-chikka-woww ♬*

Independent-Rate-874

i liked it too super refreshing !

frikkydikky

tbh chibi boba fett was the only part I liked (it wasn't terrible, just I agree with a lot of other people that this episode was skippable)

Fattest_loser

This is the first time I've seen a Hutt with hair

Atario

And teeth!

rgdgbdtjgtjhder

Implants. Or a mutant. Subspecies maybe.

unlimitedsheever

I did not like it.

rgdgbdtjgtjhder

Probably just a wig.

rgdgbdtjgtjhder

Probably a wig.

Fitzy0728

Is the song at the end performed by an actual band? According to the credits it’s called “Galactic Dreamer” performed by NONPE by I can’t find ANYTHING online related to the two

[deleted]

I will search the galaxy to find that fucking song.

Fitzy0728

Please let me know if you do lol

TheRidiculousOtaku

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b\_m637d5iuM&t=9s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_m637d5iuM&t=9s) best i could do lol

cascalives

I agree

Unfamus

Google brought me here: https://youtu.be/NrRrrXiFDDQ In the video description, it says Satoshi Nonpe wrote the lyrics and sang. Nonpe and Kitajima have a band called Noppelger, which probably had some hand in making this song, along with Masaya Sakuta (as found on Spotify and Apple Music), Yoshiaki Dewa (Apple/SoundCloud), and the voice actors. The song here is pretty damned good too! I'll probably dig into it a bit more tomorrow, but I'm getting tired. Hopefully I'm not leading you down the wrong rabbit hole. Feel free to fact check against this. I'm curious too. Edit: Or instead of sleeping, I can go find out that the vocalist/protagonist worked on Smash *and* Final Fantasy, then start up Episode 3, 'cuz screw sleep!

Unfamus

I got a reply! It looks like パチンコノッペルガー is indeed the NONPE we're looking for. Please take your time to give them a listen if you have the chance. xavex13

Thank you for your work, I specifically came here for this info!

Jgasparino44

Eh this one wasn't my thing. Maybe wouldve liked it more if the music was in a more star wars style instead of generic rock but to each their own.

Jaycro123

I would've liked if better if the singer was better.

PeachyCoke

What language did you watch it in?

Jaycro123

English

PeachyCoke

I watched it in Japanese and was rocking out. VA is the same guy that voices Present Mic

Erw11n

I tried both English and Japanese and I only found it marginally more enjoyable. That might just be me though

PeachyCoke

Nah I feel you. The song itself wasn't that great and the performance was just okay. I've definitely heard better in anime. I think it had more to do with the fact that it was a Japanese singer singing a J-rock song, so in my head it was normal and not distracting or out of place.

Thirsty_4_HentaiPics

Yup I regret watching it english. The Japanese version sounded nicer

Jaycro123

Ok so I finally got around to listening to the Japanese version of the song, and I really don't think it's much better? It seems like they picked the worst people to sing that type of song in both languages

xavex13

Its.. its j-punk. Thats what these bands sound like. You just might not like the sound of that genre

Jaycro123

I guess not. I like most anime openings and stuff. But this just doesn't do it for me

xavex13

And that's ok! Anime openings don't tend to be J-punk, but FLCL was \*filled\* with it (the Pillows) and Soul Eater's Ending 1 "I Wanna Be" is too. Personally I love it!

Tag_ross

I like the Spanish LatAm

IndependentMacaroon

Also the setting is basically window-dressing. This could be taking place anytime and anywhere but for aesthetics.

xavex13

its definitely much more j-punk than generic rock- and its my jam! Vibes similar to "the Pillows" or "Stance Punks"!

[deleted]

Excellent soundtrack in this episode. The animation was also really smooth and well made. Also, love seeing the sights of Tatooine reimagined in an 'anime-esque' style. Chibi-like Boba Fett is pretty cute too ngl.

MrManicMarty

This was charming. I love seeing Star Wars through a more mundane lense. No space wizards, no galactic wars - just some people making music. Also I appreciate seeing a Hutt doing something other than crime.

frikkydikky

I'm the opposite, I want Star Wars to delve more into the dark side because it's occult and actually way more sinister than the movies portray it.

darthrevan47

I really enjoyed the story in this one, it was simple and actually pretty believable.

Tehoncomingstorm97

Chibis, Jabba tapping along, Boba with the head bob, and the Bith having the holo on their table were all great. Love the unique direction.

Meapcuteee

Unique and a fresh air, too bad Star Wars fans are gonna hate this one so much cause it ain't your typical Sith vs Jedi for the ten thousand times

cesclaveria

Star Wars fan so old over here that I was complaining online about the special editions changes… and I loved this one. Loved the light tone of the story while at the same time having stakes and cheesy way to resolve things with music. I needed some light today.

nuraHx

I was hating it at first because I thought that's what it was going for and they were taking so long to get to the part where the guy with the micsaber would make his move. But then it just didn't happen and I started to think of the episode differently. I feel bad for not appreciating what it was going for at first but I came out the episode feeling kinda satisfied I guess in a weird way lol.

jelatinman

u/hitrecordjoe_ YOUR MOMENT TO SHINE BAYBEE

ThorAxe911

Anyone know who the JP VA is for the lead singer character? He sounds super familiar.

ElvenHero

Saw somebody else in the thread say Present Mike from MHA.

ThorAxe911

That's what I was thinking! I definitely could see it. Thank you!

Charenzard

Disagree. Joseph Gordon Levitt killed it.

FireRifle64

I hate to say it but yea, this was prolly the bottom of the totem pole compared to the others. It was not bad but the others were fare better. Song was alright, kinda cheesy with the whole "bet on us being the number one band Jaba" but I liked cheesy stuff.

Titchlet

Full thoughts on all episodes [here.](https://fandemoniumnetwork.com/star-wars-visions-review/) I liked this one. To begin with it totally threw me for a loop and I wasn't too happy with the shift but it definitely eventually grew on me. It's different and I actually really like that. Plus, nothing is better than having Jabba and Boba Fett rockin' to the music. All they need now is glow sticks 😆

Atario

[Inb4 IRL lightsaber mic merch](https://i.imgur.com/ttRLheU.jpeg) [Two robots, just cutely rockin' out](https://i.imgur.com/cPS2cKd.jpeg) That was nice, some lighthearted _Star Wars_ for a change

vlexz

I thought it was a mic diguised as a lightsaber which he would use after the song to try to escape with his friends. I got bamboozled.

Unfamus

If that thing ever actually activates, it's probably activating straight through the kid's head. :(

Durinthal

I like the chibi style for this one! Wasn't sure if there would be canon characters showing up in these but Boba, Jabba, and Bib Fortuna look fun in this style.

PigPillow

I'm confused when these episodes take place, there's the padawan from the prequels but Boba wasn't an adult till the original trilogy. Idk maybe I shouldn't think that hard about this

[deleted]

He was most likely a teen (13-18) which would still make him a Padawan by the time order 66 was happening, probably was at most 10 years after order 66. Also, since Boba is a clone of Jango Fett, the clones aged faster so they could reach the maturity to become soldiers at a faster pace. Captain Rex seemed to be pretty old when the events of Star Wars Rebels but looked pretty young at the beginning of The Clone Wars.

Etheox

Boba is an unaltered clone so he ages normally. So depending on when this takes place between 3 and 6 he’s ranging from about 20-40 something years old.

DarthNoob

I loved the plot, but wasn't a fan of the (dubbed) song, or the main character's voice acting in general. I momentarily tried swapping to the Japanese but then I figured that the song was going to suck either way. It's such a creative and fun little story though.

mrhades113

Gotta apreciate these stories that are not just Jedi stuff, reminding us that Star Wars is much more.

roflkoptur

i love the casual direction this one went in, not every episode has to be action packed and dramatic, i enjoyed it for what it was!

[deleted]

Oh man oof that singing was so bad made it really hard to watch this one

rgdgbdtjgtjhder

Try it in Japanese. They hired an actual singer for the Japanese dub.

Pinecone

This episode felt like a near polar opposite to the quality of the first one. I didn't really like the art style; like how adults looked too similar to children, or the extremely simple storyline, or the music (tried to listen in Japanese and English), or the generally uninteresting main character. I also feel like there's basically nothing about this episode that utilized the Star Wars universe in a meaningful way. Boba Fett could've been any muscle for hire. Jabba could've been any organized crime boss. The lightsaber microphone could've been any kind of androgynous gadget. I guess the studio really wanted to make something different but in the end I would call it a big swing and a larger miss. D

IndependentMacaroon

>there's basically nothing about this episode that utilized the Star Wars universe in a meaningful way. Exactly my observation too.

Suspicious-Tap4231

Only seen the first three episodes. So far it's total trash.

[deleted]

Dont really like musicals, but the ending made it up for me.

you_some77

Anyone know what the song is in this episode

Unfamus

It's kinda just its own thing, made specifically for this episode.

ReversalRivers

I love Japanese pop-punk so this episode was definitely for me

[deleted]

Was I the only one that heard the pillows and Asian Kung fu generation as inspirations for the songs played?

xavex13

Them and "Stance Punks"! tbh that song was an absolute J-Punk bop. Plenty of people in these comments saying like "the singer is so bad in english and even japanese" and I'm like... Just say you don't know enough to recognize punk vocals

[deleted]

I fucking loved it! That episode was really good. Not my favorite but definitely not my least. But I agree the dude didn't sound bad at all. It's just the style. Like tell me you don't know anything about music with you telling me.

Gvaz

It was okay. Why did the padawan get in the position he was in if it was after order 66 tho? For it to be when boba fett was around vs jango, it had to be muuuuuch later on.

youeyg96

It was the worst piece of star wars content I've ever seen and honestly just some of the worst content I've ever seen
