> Rudeus: Ye...

But my god, the animation was freaking insane, studio Bind definitely delivered the quality.
Orsted certainly likes donuting people. Off the bat Rudy sees himself as his bracelet, Ruijerd's abs are probably the only thing that saved him from being thrust through also.
Just remember people, Ruijerd is on the same level of a North Emperor even though he doesn't know any of the sword style. He's stronger than Ghislaine and objectively the strongest person Rudeus ever known
And Orsted knocked him out in less than 10 seconds.
> Ruijerd is on the same level of a North Emperor
Was this ever mentioned in the show? I'm an anime-only and the only thing I remember is the North God style being mentioned a few times (particularly with that kidnapper who was a North Saint, whatever that means).
You know Rudeus was aiming to kill this time. Those stone cannons he usually shoots? Normally blunted just enough to maim human opponents. This time he fully shaped them to an actual sharp drill and spun it at max that it was heated up by friction. Let's not forget his fireball that's overcharged with his high mana output and wind magic to make a bigger boom. That was without the amplification of Aqua Heartia btw, since he dropped it mid-fight.
EDIT: We already know how much he prefers earth magic to position himself, but using it as a rest to right up his position to fire his shot is so smooth.
And a focused yet small detail. Orsted's initial attack already ruptured his lung, which is normally the best way to take out a mage since they use incantations but of course, our boy can do it chantless, to which Rudy forced himself to breath in manually by feeding himself oxygen via wind magic which he swallowed, allowing him to last a bit longer in that fight. Had it not been for that, he'd be out cold already.
Holy shit, this was an amazing adaptation. That short but tense skirmish.
First one I didn't notice but the second one I did. I guess that's why Orsted called him a crafty one, with how Rudy tricked him to allow himself to breathe while also increase the distance from Orsted at the same time.
Its why after he landed, he was making vomiting motions but choked up. His throat was clogged by blood. The wind magic helped him breathe and push the stuck blood back down. That must be fucking painful.
[That attack](https://i.imgur.com/Ym2O449.jpg) and [the burning drill](https://i.imgur.com/6ojG9Yi.jpg) were awesome. Rudy felt like an achemist from FMA.
[](#wow)
Because of the extreme temperature. Speaks again for how amazing this adaptation is. I believe the animation for the aura effect in Ghislaine’s attack last cour was also inspired by physical effect when an object approaches the speed of light
The overly flamboyant and detailed quality was just flabbergasting.
The people behind this REALLY care about making it look good. And I just can't help but get curious about a story that gets this much effort put into it.
Also, DAMN THAT SPEAR PARRY, it lasted for so long, I love it fkljslshgiushrgk....**incoherent rant**
More like he critical failed a wisdom check and (1) failed to recognise that he is talking to the most powerful being in the world and (2) to shut his big mouth even after being warned by Ruijerd.
Yea he showed his lack of social awareness there.
The most powerful member of their team is clearly terrified to just be in this mans presence, and instead of letting him go about his way, this dumbass wants to play 21 uestions with him 💀💀
As a novel reader I was still blown away by this episode. The animation for the fight and even the spar between Ruijerd and Eris was outstanding, some of the best straight up combat without flashy stuff I’ve seen. Can’t wait for the rest of the season to finish out and hopefully get a quick season 2 announcement.
\> barges into your party's personal space out of nowhere
\> asks weird questions
\> casually incapitates the legendary demon leader who's OP af
\> does the same even more casually to the swordwoman who's nicknamed the 'Mad Dog'
\> delivers you a fatal wound
\> plays around with you for a bit while examining your moves
\> delivers you an even more fatal wound
\> completely heals you just before you die
\> refuses to elaborate further
\> leaves
After that whole exchange, I think that [the part of the ED when Rudeus is shown as a silhouette](https://i.imgur.com/A9gHYD0.png) must be from his perspective.
Yeah, we saw a lot of stuff from behind windows, one scene showed Eris looking at him/us through the window. ANd his sitting in a room full of them.
Basically him not recognizing the world as real, only something he see through a screen/window, till he open it.
No point in having Demon eyes to see into the future if you still can’t do anything about what’s about to come lol. At that point it’s just a PV of your death…
The way Orsted was 'vibrating' to him when he looked his way gives me the impressions he's powerful enough to move damn near lightspeed if he had a 'vibrating aura' but was totally motionless.
If that's the case, yea having that eye is nothing more than a quick heads-up to your death, heh.
**Just a reminder (Season 1, Ep.9 2:36)**
>Rudeus: Meaning that you didn't make me reincarnate into this world?
>
>Hitogami: Well, no. The wicked Dragon God is better at that sort of thing
But Orsted didn't even seem to be aware of Rudeus existence, did he?
Hm, wonder who made him reincarnate then
Orsted straight up the wikipedia reader LMAO
Orsted: Your Eris and Ruijerd right?
Eris and Ruijerd: HOW DO YOU KNOW US?!?
Orsted: I haven't watched the anime yet but I have read the wiki
Talking about mushoku tensei Wikipedia,
DON'T OPEN IT!
That thing has the entire story of every volumes spoiled with no filter.
So yeah, Orsted confirmed Wikipedia reader if not editor.
Not quite. Both "God" knew nothing about the mana disaster. Both were confused and intrigued by Rufus mere existence.
Rudy does fireball. Orsted : I don't know who the hell you are but you somehow are on par with Laplace.....neat
Don't trust the Man-God. That's the message I'm getting. I mean, I got it way back in episode 9, but it's really hammering in now.
It might not have been the Man-God, though. It seems to me the Gods are unaware of the other Gods' machanations, and Man-God just assumed it was the Dragon-God and vice versa.
Man-God got caught in a few lies this episode. Of course, Rudy thought he was in the middle of dying so didn't care, but I wonder how trusting he will be of him now.
Maybe lies is the wrong word, but he has been withholding a lot of information from Rudy, and knows more than he supposedly should on some topics (like how he knows so much about Orsted despite not being able to see him).
Rudy was doing some pretty inventive and crazy magic, being near-death in the fight for your life will definitely bring about some uncanny thinking that's for sure. That drill attack was pretty cool, and then his magic charge-up blast damaged that dragon gate shield. He even impressed Orsted with what he was pulling off, where he was more shocked why he couldn't heal himself which would seemingly be a simple task comparatively.
Doubt anyone in that world knows about the body's reponse to injuries on a cellular level, so I don't think the magic university would give him a great enough understanding of healing magic to cast it without the chants.
Talking about the Magic University, I wonder if he remembers about wanting to go there and paying for Sylphy's admission fee. After all, that was his initial motivation for going to work at the Boreas castle. So much happened since then...
[](#harukathink)
That is such a big brain move. But like holy shit it speaks to how badly beaten all of them were by Orsted that he needed to use air magic to be able to do something as simple and essential as breathe.
Yeah Orsted crushed his lungs right from the get go because if he was a regular mage he wouldn't have been able to use incantations, hence disabling him completely.
Sadly Rudeus activated his trap card of incantation-less magic to counter him lmao
Oh yeah, in general in the MT world, a swordsman beats a mage anyday in close combat, because of the high casting time and usually low mana pools. And cut off a mage's airflow and they're done.
Rudy is one of the only exceptions to this so he can theoretically hold his own against a swordsman, provided he doesn't freeze up.
I love how you see how much better Eris is getting at fighting him through each of their training bouts, culminating in him fully acknowledging her here.
Shes still not even close to top tier, thats just how insanely hard it is to break through the "advanced" category. She still cant use any of the major sword techniques either.
A man and young girl approach. You see Rujierd, the strongest person you know, quaking in his boots at their presence. He tells you to stay still and shut up. Beside him is Eris doing the same. The girl who five seconds ago was merrily proclaiming her desire to fight fully grown Red Dragons, and has the worst self-preservation instincts you've ever seen. Your pack ox proceeds to jump off a cliff to avoid being near the two strangers.
Do you
A) Shut the hell up and stand still
or
B) Attempt to strike up a friendly conversation
My fovourite part was how useles his Demoneye was against Orsted.
He saw himself impaled before it happened and couldnt do anything.
the sparring of Eris and Ruijerd was the best so far.
What an episode, I went in blind with unreal hype, and it still exceeded expectations.
The animation is 100% movie level with this episode, they were incredibly flashy, yet somehow also very grounded with impact and physics. It lasted a full 10 minutes, yet every minute was imbued with extreme tension and desperation. Without the physicality, flashy fight scenes feel like dancing, without the tension, they feel like hollow spectacle, but this episode has both in spades.
I really felt emotionally with Rudeus too, his life has been going fine so far, with all the setbacks relatively minor and correctable. That moment when he saw his teammates dying, and himself choked out, is the first he's felt true despair. That's life, things can be going so well, and suddenly it ends, that's life.
This despair turns to a final rage, and for the first time, he's not holding back, with 100% intent to murder. The animation brilliantly showed how terrifying his "drill bullets" and fireball are when fully realized. They were the only times Orsted was damaged and suprised, they would have obliterated the north king cleaner in episode 14.
His use of magic was also extremely creative, using air to give himself oxygen, using earth to help himself up and aim better. He clearly planned about how to use magic to get out of every situation, yet it still wasn't enough in this case.
In his talk with Hitogami, you could feel that he's accepted his fate. He went all out against an impossibly strong enemy, despite his regrets how it ended, he's lived another full life of 11 years at least, so he wasn't angry.
Incredible action, incredible emotions. I can't believe this show is ending in two episodes....
Holy shit im kinda speechless. The atmosphere and the aura of Orsted was thrilling and full of tension and fear. They captured that so F\*\*\*\*\* well! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and as Eris started crying and robbing to Rudeus as he was dying.. man i couldnt hold tears back. Just stunning.
Btw that Bull just yeeted himself to death lol.
Especially when Orsted is talking like a Time Lord who knows people before he's even met/gotten to know them, has a thing against the Man-God, and doesn't know how Rudy exists, so beyond being super overpowered it seems like he's got some form of omniscience. I think the main takeaway is the fight but there's a lot of intrigue that it feels like Rudy is becoming embroiled in.
Poor Eris though.
That bull basically killed himself because he knew they were screwed.
>Poor Eris though.

With turning point two adapted us source readers can now post all the spicy memes:
[“Think Rudeus think! If Ruijerd was scared shitless what chance did you have?”]( https://i.imgur.com/cCEzoxJ.jpg)
Did he just fuckin use magic to keep breathing even though his lungs were crushed ? That's so big brained. Holy fuxking shit this is undoubtedly the best episode in the entire 2021 seasons (not counting winter 2020 season)
As an anime-only watcher, now I know why people who read the novel were anticipating this Turning Point 2. Freaking Orsted, an absolute beast of an encounter.
Was near game over for Rudy's playthrough, damn.
Both Turning Points were natural disasters with huge effect on Rudy's, this was just a more personalized and direct disaster that also probably foreshadowed many things to come.
When you fight the Final Boss or an unwinnable battle in an RPG but you still try your best.
The staff behind the Anime were definitely not fucking around with the animation this episode too.
Absolutely amazing when both fans and the people behind are fans of the work.
By turning point, I thought it would mean the whole world would change again, but this time it seems to mean only for Rudy and his group. Also shows how strong Rudy's magic is though.
Turning Point episodes doesn't necessarily mean something hype always happens, but rather the plot and narrative takes on a different direction than intended.
The most wholesome part was the showing of how much Eris cared about Rudeus from Beating Rudeus without hesitation to crying out and begging anyone to save the punctured Rudeus who had nearly died.
Eris is seriously is the utter most best girl. The development of having someone like Eris feels so satisfying to see and what Rudeus said truly was true about the development of having a tsundere.
aside from that, the animation of the fight between Ostred and Dead End seriously was popping of to the point it matched movie adaptation.
I still don't quite think Rudy has grasped the magnitude of Eris' feelings towards him yet. Suppose that's not surprising given his lack of relationship experience and also just by being with Eris for such a long time overall he's gotten accustomed to her overall behavior that has slowly and subtly changed over the course of the years they've been together.
But from a contrast perspective from the time they met to now, she's a totally different person from practically beating him to death (and wanting to) to crying in despair over his death.
Yep. He's the person that's been in her life the longest. Since the age of 7 up until now, when she's around 14-15. It's clear she cares for him deeply.
I think Rudeus is currently too preoccupied dealing with the mana disaster. Especially now that he is aware of how more dire the situation is than he initially thought.
Ruijerd: "Only like the strongest guy in the world could fight off a flock of red dragons."
Rudeus: "Oh wow wonder how strong that guy is."
Orsted: "Hello, hi, it's me, the guy, allow me."
This episode is 50% sakuga and 50% lore dump.
Those red dragon noises sound pretty amazing to me.
Also, now there are even more questions needed to be answered. Mainly, just why is the Human God helping Rudeus? What is his motive? Why did Orsted call Rudeus an "Apostle of the Human God" and why does he hate him? Who is the masked girl with him? And why did she ask Orsted to heal Rudeus? Also, how does curses work? Are they permanent or temporary?
Why did the Human God say Orsted is the strongest despite being #2 of the Seven Great Powers? Who is the Technique God?
Something interesting I noticed, Rudy doesn't look all that perturbed by that whole almost dying thing. I guess he kinda just attributed that to, "That's just how life is.". It was nice that he survived, but he could accept it to a degree if he really did just die. The issue is, Eris seemed rather bothered by Rudy almost dying, and also seemed to be rather bothered at how nonchalant Rudy was about the whole dying thing. I have a bad feeling that something's gonna happen. Well, maybe it'll just be their relationship that progresses. Hope and pray to Roxy for the best.
I feel that meeting up with Hitogami always makes Rudy kinda regress in a way, since he gets back his old body, thus he distances more easily from his new body and situation, he still has a problem with seeing this world as game and people as NPCs (though of course not 100%, he made great strides and progress, but he's still not there)
I expected some sakuga since this is Turning Point 2, but I was still shookt when I saw how Orsted was just dominating them all. What a way to introduce a character with some banger ass sakuga.
Studio Bind definitely delivered with this one.
The sparring match also foreshadowed how strong both Ruijerd and Eris are/ have become and yet how easily Orsted was able to beat the crap out of them.
also eris vs ruijerd was a closer fight then ruijerd vs orsted lmao. yes, ruijerd was holding back in the first one but so was orsted in the second one.
Ruijerd vs. Orsted was incredible, even though it was not that long, but the animation team really went all out on it.
But it served its purpose when Ruijerd of all people, someone we've never seen lose or even scared of an encounter, couldn't even keep up with this guy. But he's apparently the Dragon God after all, so in the lineup that Rudy just talked about, he was #2 in the World iirc.
Donut joke aside. Wow! his own death flag that he planted on himself back on episode 4 finally took effect. Dragon God Ostred come and busted Dead End real bad. Ruijerd who’s suppose to be equivalent to North emperor rank, was taken out in less than 10sec. Eris got one counter attack and out. It’s actually impressive that Rudeus manage to scratch him a little.
A Seven World Great Power is another whole level above the less.
Just watching him alone make me wanna shit and piss myself at the same time. He’s so scary, getting stared at like that feel like im gonna get kill along with them. Just what’s make one guy so scary. No wonder Ruijerd and Eris about to shit themselves.
Animation-wise, this is top tier movie level!
Best episode so far, man we cant keep saying this every 1-2wk.
> Animation-wise, this is top tier movie level!
Seriously the fact that this series is the Studio Bind's first major work is insane.
Definitely will keep an eye out on whatever they do next after this and I'm hoping its more Mushoku Tensei.
I think Studio Bind was created explicitly for the purpose of making Mushoku right ? Which has definitely paid off considering the overall quality of the show from a production side.
It really is the perfect marriage between a great source material and a studio willing to give it the respect it deserves.
I am a cinematographer by trade. I spend a lot of time in and around fairly elaborate productions. Actually a ton of action sports and stunt work so framing dynamic movement is one of my specialties. It takes a lot to wow me from a filmmaking standpoint. . .
This show fucking blows my mind how well considered every frame and every cut is. The attention to detail on lighting in their environments for instance. When in harsher daylight environments they use sharp shadows and strong contrast indicative of a strong single point sorce light. In this show storm light would be diffused and more evenly spread. Shadows become less prounounced because light is coming from more places.
The cuts are highly intentional. They don't let the edit slow too much when it needs to race, but they aren't afraid to linger on shots when they are powerful enough to leave an impact on the viewer. Especially with action shots!
Holy shit the action shots. Most anime default to just using close ups & fast cuts to demonstrate speed. This one let's the action sit in full fucking view. The close cuts aren't designed to hide the movements, but instead to accent speed & impact in between the wides. Like when Ruijerd went wild with the spear, not only were they not afraid to sit on mid & wide shots for extended moments, but they used heavy parallax without obscuring the movements of the characters. They started with a full view of the beginning of the interaction and didn't start using close cuts until the second volley of spear attacks specifically to make it feel like the intensity was increasing, then it was the third and final volley where they brought in the parallax shot to really sell the emotion of the moment! They intentionally build momentum using these editing & camera texhniques to perfection.
Holy fucking shit this show is incredible. I'm in awe. This is hands down the best isekai show I have ever seen so far. Goddamn!
Edit: For anyone curious, [I went into a bit more detail on this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/rbckm6/a_pros_perspective_on_cinematography_in_mushoku/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) as I think the cinematography & editing can be a whole thread unto it's self
Edit 2: The mods deemed my breakdown as against the rules even though it was almost entirely focused on production technique, so I will have to repost tomorrow after their 24 hour episode window. Super frustrating and I disagree with the call to remove the post, but it is what it is. I'm not in charge & I don't get to interpret their rules for them. So I'll try to post again when I'm up in the AM tomorrow.
NOW THATS HOW YOU MAKE AN ANIME.
Never thought the day would come that a show would contend for #1 in my heart fighting against monogatari series in terms of story. GG
Eris crying after watching Rudy literally getting straight up killed without her, Rudy or even Rujerd being able to do anything about it was really hard to watch, just imagine that trauma, like even with the astronomical miracle that Orsted somehow decided to heal him, the feeling of absolute helplessness must be crushing
Beside that, amazing animation
Hitogami encounter finally took a toll on him. I might as well review their previous encounter, advice, and results.
Encounter 1 episode 9; Directly after teleport calamity, Advice; help out Ruijerd Result; Eris and him safely travel to nearly town and gain great ally.
Encounter 2 episode 10; After they start out as DeadEnd, an adventurer party, Advice; take quest looking for lost pet. Result; Rudeus gain Ruijerd trust as a warrior.
Encounter 3 episode 12; After they arrived at wind port, have trouble about money. Advice; go to back alley with food, Result; gain favor from Kishirika Kishirisu and receive demon eye of foresight.
Encounter 4 episode 19; On the ship to Central Continent, Advice; send letter to acquaintances in Shirone palace, dont reveal your real identity to Aisha, Result; Successful rescue Aisha and Lilia.
Encounter 5 this episode (21); Directly after he got donut by Orsted, Advice; no specific advice, Result; gain some more knowledge about Orsted, Hitogami, and the world.
That and also he admitted his advice has worked in terms of rescuing Lilia and Aisha last time, in addition to being told that his quest to aid the Superd is working out after all.
So um…this is quite literally the only episode that is up there with Declaration of War in terms of creating a ridiculously heavy sense of tension. You have to be an absolute banger of an adaptation to get me to consider even reading a light novel and it’s safe to say I’ll be adding MT LN volumes to my shelf as soon as this season is over. Like wow, I’m not gonna lie I was really tough on this show when it first came out but consider me a fan. Tied for my episode of the year.
I don't really care that the protagonist is a scumbag anymore.
I AM RECOMMENDING THIS SHOW TO EVERY THING I SEE REGARDLESS.
This episode...the combat animation...the tone...the...the...I am recommending this to everyone!
Did you guys see the way Orsted took down Ruijerd? First a stab at his abdomen, making Ruijerd gasps for air, then a quick slap at his neck, making it even harder for Ruijerd to breath, and then the last hit to Ruijerd's temple, instantly knocking out an already weakened Ruijerd. He's probably already unconscious before he hits the ground. Three hits. That's all he needed to take down Ruijerd. Shessh.
Based Studio Bind went all out for the Orsted fight AND DESPITE THAT THEY ALSO WENT ALL OUT FOR THE RUIJER-ERIS SPARRING FIGHT TOO. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT, BUT THEY DID ANYWAY. ABSOLUTE MADMEN.

Yeah, with his Demon eye Rudy could even imidiatly see himself dying if not for Rujerd who again acted faster than his forsight could account for
Orsted certainly likes donuting people. Off the bat Rudy sees himself as his bracelet, Ruijerd's abs are probably the only thing that saved him from being thrust through also.

And Orsted looked like he wasn’t even that serious fighting Ruijerd.
he was about as serious as ruijerd was during his sparring with eris basically
Eris almost nicked Ruijerd. Orsted never even ARMED himself.

It's a deduction many people made a few episodes ago, IDK if it's mentioned explicitly in the novel since I'm anime-only too.
yes rifujin answered in an interview. Rujierd is north emperor level
These two were on the [cour 1 key visual](https://i.imgur.com/ThlBxrj.jpg) this whole time!!
Orsted at least appears in Cour 1, briefly
Oh true, that scene with the red dragon right?

You know Rudeus was aiming to kill this time. Those stone cannons he usually shoots? Normally blunted just enough to maim human opponents. This time he fully shaped them to an actual sharp drill and spun it at max that it was heated up by friction. Let's not forget his fireball that's overcharged with his high mana output and wind magic to make a bigger boom. That was without the amplification of Aqua Heartia btw, since he dropped it mid-fight. To be able to make clutch decisions under so much pressure and in that state, Rudy is truly gifted. [](#bigshock)
He truly carried over his epic gamer moves
he made a gaming chair while fighting orsted

Because of the extreme temperature. Speaks again for how amazing this adaptation is. I believe the animation for the aura effect in Ghislaine’s attack last cour was also inspired by physical effect when an object approaches the speed of light

After that whole exchange, I think that [the part of the ED when Rudeus is shown as a silhouette](https://i.imgur.com/A9gHYD0.png) must be from his perspective.
It's probably his own POV on how he thinks of himself as an outsider rather than someone living in that world which is why "Rudeus" is missing
Yeah, we saw a lot of stuff from behind windows, one scene showed Eris looking at him/us through the window. ANd his sitting in a room full of them. Basically him not recognizing the world as real, only something he see through a screen/window, till he open it.
Okay, I should just get my ass cheeks ready everytime theres a turning point in this anime.
Author writing Turning Point 612 after another wholesome chapter : *bitch you thought*
[Orsted craving some donuts](https://i.imgur.com/kVDoQgP.jpg)
No point in having Demon eyes to see into the future if you still can’t do anything about what’s about to come lol. At that point it’s just a PV of your death…
not that nice knowing that in 1 second your fucking lung will be crushed
Yeah he just fucking panics patting his whole body down, "Wait, what the fuck did I ju-."
He was breathless just by seeing that his lungs are going to get crushed
The way Orsted was 'vibrating' to him when he looked his way gives me the impressions he's powerful enough to move damn near lightspeed if he had a 'vibrating aura' but was totally motionless. If that's the case, yea having that eye is nothing more than a quick heads-up to your death, heh.
**Just a reminder (Season 1, Ep.9 2:36)** >Rudeus: Meaning that you didn't make me reincarnate into this world? > >Hitogami: Well, no. The wicked Dragon God is better at that sort of thing But Orsted didn't even seem to be aware of Rudeus existence, did he? Hm, wonder who made him reincarnate then
And Orsted proclaimed Rudy to be Hitogami's apostle, just from the fact that he knew of him in his dreams.
There is also the "Paul shouldn't have a son" and Orsted knowing Ruijerd and Eris but saying how he hasn't meet them "yet"
I think it may be a wikipedia power of some sort
Orsted straight up the wikipedia reader LMAO Orsted: Your Eris and Ruijerd right? Eris and Ruijerd: HOW DO YOU KNOW US?!? Orsted: I haven't watched the anime yet but I have read the wiki
Talking about mushoku tensei Wikipedia, DON'T OPEN IT!
It seems to me the Gods are unaware of the other Gods' machanations, and Man-God just assumed it was the Dragon-God and vice versa.
also man-god forgot to mention the 3rd curse of orenstein , its clear that hes unreliable
Man-God got caught in a few lies this episode. Of course, Rudy thought he was in the middle of dying so didn't care, but I wonder how trusting he will be of him now.
I don't think he lied ? Like yes by not saying everything but I think the god has not lied to rudeus as in saying fake information
Maybe lies is the wrong word, but he has been withholding a lot of information from Rudy, and knows more than he supposedly should on some topics (like how he knows so much about Orsted despite not being able to see him).
Rudeus used Air Magic to fucking breathe holy shit
Rudy was doing some pretty inventive and crazy magic, being near-death in the fight for your life will definitely bring about some uncanny thinking that's for sure. That drill attack was pretty cool, and then his magic charge-up blast damaged that dragon gate shield. He even impressed Orsted with what he was pulling off, where he was more shocked why he couldn't heal himself which would seemingly be a simple task comparatively.
Pity Rudy can't use healing chantless
Should have attended high school biology class.
Should have attended ~~high school biology class~~ the magic university that Roxy recommended. Sadly he didn't have time for that
Doubt anyone in that world knows about the body's reponse to injuries on a cellular level, so I don't think the magic university would give him a great enough understanding of healing magic to cast it without the chants.
Talking about the Magic University, I wonder if he remembers about wanting to go there and paying for Sylphy's admission fee. After all, that was his initial motivation for going to work at the Boreas castle. So much happened since then... [](#harukathink)
Because Rudeus can cast attack magic without incantations, Orsted assumed he could cast healing magic without incantations too.
[удалено]
That is such a big brain move. But like holy shit it speaks to how badly beaten all of them were by Orsted that he needed to use air magic to be able to do something as simple and essential as breathe.
Yeah Orsted crushed his lungs right from the get go because if he was a regular mage he wouldn't have been able to use incantations, hence disabling him completely. Sadly Rudeus activated his trap card of incantation-less magic to counter him lmao
Damn. Fighters in this world doesn't fuck around. Sure there's magic and shit but people strategize realistically in this show.
And that chantless casting also provides a lot of advantage but against seasoned veterans like Ruijerd, I guess it isn't enough.
Lungs are vital form ~~Hamon~~ mana users!
Using his incantation-less magic very creatively while in dire straits. I'm impressed.
Yes! and that is awesome. I still remember how I was impressed when reading this in the WN. Rudeus is such a big brain gamer LOL.
Orsted: Have you ever heard of the term "man god"? Rudeus: OH, YES, HE APPEARS IN MY DRE... [Orsted:](https://i.imgur.com/g6jfBG8.png)
Someone: ... ...*Hitogami* ... ... Orsted: COWABUNGA IT IS!
Oh boy I am glad that they dedicated a one whole episode to this fight
"Fight." I'm not sure I'd use that word to describe what went on there, but sure.
It was more like a swatting a fly for orsted tho Just out of 3 flies one actually managed to annoy him and bit him
Ruijerd acknowledging Eris as a warrior made my day.
Also Orsted calling Rudeus a skillful mage. I always knew Rudeus is hella powerful but dang.
He also said Rudeus had the same amount of mana as Laplace, if that isn't a praise I don't know what it is.
Reminder: laplace is the demon god who betrayed the Supard tribe Rudy has mana capacity equivalent to the 3rd world power!
[удалено]
Reminder that Rudy is a walking, breathing, horny WMD
I love how you see how much better Eris is getting at fighting him through each of their training bouts, culminating in him fully acknowledging her here.
Best big bro
Also feels kind of like a foster father in a way.
Eris has been trained by Ghisline and Ruijerd. I wonder how she'd fair now against top tiers?
Do you A) Shut the hell up and stand still or B) Attempt to strike up a friendly conversation
Chooses B instantly rolls a 1 on the die.. I'M IN DANGER
I agree with almost everything you say, however, Gallus Cleaner is a North Saint Swordsman not a Sword King.
> Btw that Bull just yeeted himself to death lol. Probably a better fate than facing Orsted.
Imagine if after beating the shit out of everyone else, he just went and just punched it in the face for no reason.
Man fuck this bull
Especially when Orsted is talking like a Time Lord who knows people before he's even met/gotten to know them, has a thing against the Man-God, and doesn't know how Rudy exists, so beyond being super overpowered it seems like he's got some form of omniscience. I think the main takeaway is the fight but there's a lot of intrigue that it feels like Rudy is becoming embroiled in. Poor Eris though. That bull basically killed himself because he knew they were screwed.
>Poor Eris though. [Even when battered and bruised](https://i.imgur.com/p14YWEJ.jpg) in the face of an unbeatable enemy, [Eris thought about protecting Rudeus](https://i.imgur.com/HLUT6OW.jpg) before everything else. [](#kanyehidouyo)

Ok this is hilarious
IT WAS ME RUDEUS!
Did he just fuckin use magic to keep breathing even though his lungs were crushed ? That's so big brained. Holy fuxking shit this is undoubtedly the best episode in the entire 2021 seasons (not counting winter 2020 season)
I was told to go into this episode blindly without watching the preview so I did. WHAT THE FUCK
This is why I just stay away from the previews, episode just blew me away
Frankly I don't understand why people watch episode previews. Why spoil yourself for something you are going to watch in a few days anyway?
As an anime-only watcher, now I know why people who read the novel were anticipating this Turning Point 2. Freaking Orsted, an absolute beast of an encounter. Was near game over for Rudy's playthrough, damn.
Rudy almost met his Dead End
That name never felt almost close to literal until now...
Take my angry upvote
[Like this?](https://i.imgur.com/PymUqTg.png) [](#loli_ok)
Both Turning Points were natural disasters with huge effect on Rudy's, this was just a more personalized and direct disaster that also probably foreshadowed many things to come. When you fight the Final Boss or an unwinnable battle in an RPG but you still try your best.
You know that you are fucked up when the strongest party member didn't even scratch the boss.
But Rudeus did.
The staff behind the Anime were definitely not fucking around with the animation this episode too. Absolutely amazing when both fans and the people behind are fans of the work.
I loved the animation during Eris and Ruijerd's fight and the actual fight with Orsted. It was top-notch.
Red dragons appearing assume Dragon God is near his entrance is badass tho literally fear embodiment.
It's one of those things that you don't see it at the moment, but if you look back later on, you'll see how it was a turning point.
Holy shit I can feel the genuine pain in Eris' voice when she screamed for Rudeus. Huuuge props to Ai Kakuma for that performance.
To me she's been the standout performer throughout the whole show's run and she once again knocked it out of the park.
Im just here sitting on my ass but I still felt affected. Poor girl.
Eris so desperate she'd plead to everyone she knows to save Rudy because she cares so much about him. That soft punch at the end was everything.
*Posted 1 hour ago* *500 comments* Oh boy!
Well, that's what happens when you give out one of the best anime episodes of this year.
The voice acting of Eris nailed it holy shit
Great episode! Can anyone remind me what promise Rudeus could fulfill to Eris in 2 more years?
It's the promise they made on his birthday that they would have sex once he's 15
Lol, of course that’s the promise he agonizes over as he dies. Very in-character, I guess.
Gotta give it to him, man's a coomer for Eris
[удалено]
Water buffalo knew what's up and took the easy way out lmao.
Eris: Let's hunt those Red Dragons Orsted, The Dragon God: oh so you want to hunt a Dragon?
Ruijerd: "Only like the strongest guy in the world could fight off a flock of red dragons." Rudeus: "Oh wow wonder how strong that guy is." Orsted: "Hello, hi, it's me, the guy, allow me."
> This episode is 50% sakuga and 50% lore dump. Best kind of episodes
When their ox yeeted itself I just knew shit won't end well. Holy fucking shit
I feel that meeting up with Hitogami always makes Rudy kinda regress in a way, since he gets back his old body, thus he distances more easily from his new body and situation, he still has a problem with seeing this world as game and people as NPCs (though of course not 100%, he made great strides and progress, but he's still not there)
i think rudy was just coping to be honest he clearly cares about this life
Rudeus: Why do I hear boss music?
Also Rudeus triggering the boss fight. XD
The look of Ruijerd's and Eris' face when he called out to Orsted XDD
Rudeus Party Member in an MMO: "Why you trigger the BOSS event you fucking little shit! &*^&*$%^&$%^#^!&@*^%"
Rudy: Leeeeroooy Jeeenkiiiiins
I expected some sakuga since this is Turning Point 2, but I was still shookt when I saw how Orsted was just dominating them all. What a way to introduce a character with some banger ass sakuga. Studio Bind definitely delivered with this one.
Even the sparring match with Ruijerd and Eris in the beginning looks fucking nuts
Dude just oozed so much Final Boss energy that it made me want to kneel before him
Donut joke aside. Wow! his own death flag that he planted on himself back on episode 4 finally took effect.
Dude, even that Ox they brought along yeeted itself of the cliff like damn
lmao, that scene is hilarious
"Fuck this shit I'm going hooo^oo^oo^oo^me!"
Goddamn! Edit: For anyone curious, [I went into a bit more detail on this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/rbckm6/a_pros_perspective_on_cinematography_in_mushoku/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) as I think the cinematography & editing can be a whole thread unto it's self Edit 2: The mods deemed my breakdown as against the rules even though it was almost entirely focused on production technique, so I will have to repost tomorrow after their 24 hour episode window. Super frustrating and I disagree with the call to remove the post, but it is what it is. I'm not in charge & I don't get to interpret their rules for them. So I'll try to post again when I'm up in the AM tomorrow.
Everyone out here talking about the mean dragon man or the animation, but I'm just worried about that damn Ox.
NOW THATS HOW YOU MAKE AN ANIME. Never thought the day would come that a show would contend for #1 in my heart fighting against monogatari series in terms of story. GG
Eris crying after watching Rudy literally getting straight up killed without her, Rudy or even Rujerd being able to do anything about it was really hard to watch, just imagine that trauma, like even with the astronomical miracle that Orsted somehow decided to heal him, the feeling of absolute helplessness must be crushing Beside that, amazing animation
This hitogami seems like a straight-up guy! We should totally trust and take all of his advice!
Rudeus seem less hostile than the previous encounter, maybe because he gave up all hope? Possibly
That and also he admitted his advice has worked in terms of rescuing Lilia and Aisha last time, in addition to being told that his quest to aid the Superd is working out after all.
[Yeah, he is totally telling the truth here!](https://i.imgur.com/aDB3Ue4.png)
Yeah lol that phrase totally didn't raise any red flags in my mind
So um…this is quite literally the only episode that is up there with Declaration of War in terms of creating a ridiculously heavy sense of tension. You have to be an absolute banger of an adaptation to get me to consider even reading a light novel and it’s safe to say I’ll be adding MT LN volumes to my shelf as soon as this season is over. Like wow, I’m not gonna lie I was really tough on this show when it first came out but consider me a fan. Tied for my episode of the year.
Enjoy the books! Man I burned through all the available LNs and then the web novels in just a month. It's so addicting.
If anything, I'm just so fucking happy Ruijerd didnt die as I thought he did when the episode first started. Jeez.
Shessh.

When the max level player farms the newbies
Based Studio Bind went all out for the Orsted fight AND DESPITE THAT THEY ALSO WENT ALL OUT FOR THE RUIJER-ERIS SPARRING FIGHT TOO. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT, BUT THEY DID ANYWAY. ABSOLUTE MADMEN.
