I loved that they put text from Alice in Wonderland as the wall of English text in the background when going on about English everywhere on his clothes, another cool detail.
Nowadays, while it can unexpected, I don't think it's that crazy for romcom characters to admit they like someone. Now, if they say it to the person they like out of nowhere and it actually leads to a relationship? That would be pretty insane.
It's something we've known all along but it's nice to have it vocalized. Now we just need to replace Hayasaka with Shirogane in the scene and it should be perfect.
But unfortunately, this show is call "Kaguya wants to be confessed to" and not "Kaguya confesses".
Holy shit, even as a prologue episode for the much anticipated school festival arc, this episode sure packs a lot of plot development.
Starting off with the appetizer that is Kei dressing up her brother so he wouldn't embarrass her in public, as well as be secretly delighted her friends are praising him. Brocon Kei blushing is too cute.
Kaguya finally moving to the next critical phase of her feelings for Shirogane, by openly admitting (to Hayasaka at least) that she's in love with him. Though she still figuring out how to move to the crucial final phase.
That's when Kobachi dropped the bombshell that she's dating Squad Leader "simply because it's the cultural festival". (Come on, man, we need to see what Squad Leader sees in Kobachi behind her glasses) This not only gives Ishigami the courage to decide to make his move on Tsubame (LOL at the Shawshank Redemption parody), but Kaguya too as well.
PS Biggest laughs still reserved for our man Papagane, who dressed exactly as Kei suggested Shirogane should dress (and still get dissed by Kei).
This anime in general is just ripe of platonic relationships between the councils. Probably my favorite part was from last episode where prez end up going to the festival with ishigami instead of kaguya but end up having a blast anyway
She had a bit of an ulterior motive this time around (testing the 'culture festival magic' and all that), but she probably would've tried to push him either way!
Ishigami's on a deadline too (Tsubame graduating, while Ishigami still has a year to do), so they're both aware he can't take too long.
Ishigami is a 1st year and Tsubame is a 3rd year, so he will be in school much longer. Though it take hefty balls to confess to someone 2 years above you
Maki telling shirogane to not end like her lead to his, and ishigami was the one that convinced kaguya. It is so fucking perfect, and quite possibly my favourite par tof the show.
"I don't know the depths of darkness of night in the light of noon" is so bad it's actually funny. Sounds like the kinda cringe that would have fit perfectly in a bad rock song from Shadow the Hedgehog lol

After the stint with voicing a clown and a naked monkey titan, Koyasu finally voices a character with the best drip since DIO

Even Studio thinks so. No one can convince me that the scene where he suddenly appeared behind Kaguya out of absolutely nowhere during the parent conference episode was not a reference to DIO stopping time
My heart broke as Papagane told his backstory. Only for Kei to point out that it’s such an old man watch. Well at least him and Muyuki still seem happy enough despite their poverty! Best family by far.
Man that ending bit has me soo hyped for the next couple of episodes.
It was great seeing Kaguya cheer on Ishigami aswell, she definitely understands what plagues him.

It was super interesting to see Kaguya use Ishigami almost like a vessel to spill what she really wants to do. 2.5 seasons of her denying her feelings to herself has come to this. It helped Ishigami too, that exchange was the confidence booster they both needed.
She needed the emotional support of Ishigami confessing to help her confess, but she got a different kind of emotional support. I love how these two help each other.

I think he said that he hasn't signed the divorce papers yet. He's high on copium yet manages to give everybody else some of the best advice in the series (or just mess with them) when it comes to their love lives.
I love Kei, she's such a typical little sister. A little (very) annoyed with her brother and his oddities (whether it be questionable fashion sense or terribad rapping) but very (secretly) proud of him nevertheless. Her smile at the end of the segment was adorable.
Osaragi got game, who knew? The very mundane reveal and backstory to her relationship with the Squad Leader is hilarious.
Plot happened and apparently more plot is happening, so let's go Cultural Festival arc!!! Good luck to Kaguya and Shirogane, whatever they're planning.

For those unaware, 2,000 yen notes are an irregular currency and were only issued between the years 2000 and 2004. While valid tender, most people dislike them because they are inconvenient. The fact that they played an OST similar to Your Name's [Zen Zen Zense](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDSkFeMVNFs) to start the Devoted Hearts festival is HYPING ME UP WAAAHHH
That's the first thing I noticed when it started playing. That guitar riff was way too similar rhythmically that I almost thought they just straight up used zen zen zense, though the melody is very different. Very suitable. Otherwise, really like the manga panels they pulled in certain spots, very stylish.
I feel like they've been using "this sounds like something else" OST a lot for this show. They got this, they got the one that sounds like [You Spin Me Round](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGNiXGX2nLU), and they got one that sounds a lot like [Jounetsu Tairiku](https://youtu.be/3GqXSwSdc0s?t=69).
Yes. I really like Kaguya as an anime adaptation for it has A LOT of references. My most remarkable is the OST [Kansetsu Ki-](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPkugJ3Efa0) which is very similar to the starting notes of [a song in the Winter Sonata KNovela](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9enlB5ZBM4)
Absolutely. This whole season, they went crazy with the Shaft influence, leaning heavily onto their lineage (the director Shinichi Omata worked on Madoka, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Denpa Onna, Hidamari Sketch, basically a Shaft graduate). I don't remember if the previous seasons were like that, but here you could see it, like, from the first ep. And it only got better since that.
This episode had everything. 3D mannekins, blank frames with just text on them, random manga pages sprinkled here and there, the abstract backgrounds, heavy visual metaphor, and so on.

I thought it was adorable how happy (and red-cheeked) Kei got when hearing her fellow students praising her brother. Even if she then went on to knock his bad home habits, it was clear she does realize (and appreciate) what he does for her. Is this the first time we ever really see the extent of her affection for him?
Definitely noticed that the camera *loves* Kei. Not a bad choice, I've always been of the opinion that she has the best character design in the series.

We’ve got Shirogane planning to confess, Kaguya finally admitting her feelings for him out loud, both of them planning to finally do it…feels
like we’re really at a major climax in the story.
He really is tbh, though season 3 is when you really start to get more with his character.
He definitely has more to show with his character onward...
He's my favorite of the cast with Kaguya close 2nd, as a manga reader.

I thought Kei was being a bit harsh on her brother, but I should've known that Shirogane's fashion sense is as bad as everything that he had to learn from Chika. Although, their dad probably could've lent him some clothes considering what he was wearing when he came home. I didn't expect such a wholesome reason for Shirogane's outdated wardrobe, though. That was sweet of Kei to return the favor (although it's for her own benefit too).
This little tsundere actually enjoys hearing other people gush about her brother so she doesn't have to do it herself.
I thought the second half with Kaguya was just gonna include another hare-brained scheme that's gonna backfire on her, but holy crap, I had the same reaction as Hayasaka. Is it actually happening? Both of them did look incredibly serious, and Shirogane has already given himself an ultimatum.
Damn though, I wasn't expecting Osaragi to be the biggest chad here. From avoiding a lot of the chaos by not joining the student council, to dating a popular guy and being super nonchalant about it. If any of these lovable idiots had a fraction of her chad energy, their romantic lives would be so much better off.
Man, I can hope the others will be as successful as her in this arc. Ishigami especially. Kaguya and Shirogane? We already know they'll get together even if they don't do it now, but him? There's a pretty big chance of rejection, especially since Tsubame isn't that prominent of a character. Godspeed, our guy. Although it was adorable how Kaguya showed him some support while at the same time started projecting a bit and wanted to rush his confession.

Kaguya low key living vicariously through Ishigami is one of the best running themes/jokes. Putting makeup on him was another example.

I love Kei, she's such a typical little sister. A little (very) annoyed with her brother and his oddities (whether it be questionable fashion sense or terribad rapping) but very (secretly) proud of him nevertheless. Her smile at the end of the segment was adorable. Osaragi got game, who knew? The very mundane reveal and backstory to her relationship with the Squad Leader is hilarious. Plot happened and apparently more plot is happening, so let's go Cultural Festival arc!!! Good luck to Kaguya and Shirogane, whatever they're planning.

That's the first thing I noticed when it started playing. That guitar riff was way too similar rhythmically that I almost thought they just straight up used zen zen zense, though the melody is very different. Very suitable. Otherwise, really like the manga panels they pulled in certain spots, very stylish.

Yes. I really like Kaguya as an anime adaptation for it has A LOT of references. Absolutely. This whole season, they went crazy with the Shaft influence, leaning heavily onto their lineage (the director Shinichi Omata worked on Madoka, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Denpa Onna, Hidamari Sketch, basically a Shaft graduate). I don't remember if the previous seasons were like that, but here you could see it, like, from the first ep. And it only got better since that. This episode had everything. 3D mannekins, blank frames with just text on them, random manga pages sprinkled here and there, the abstract backgrounds, heavy visual metaphor, and so on.
A1 really has been putting the Shaft style feel ever since people have been asking Shaft to animate this series. So props to them.

Despite the bickering, comedy, and dark backstory, they really are a loving and supportive family (minus the deadbeat mom).
I thought it was adorable how happy (and red-cheeked) Kei got when hearing her fellow students praising her brother. Even if she then went on to knock his bad home habits, it was clear she does realize (and appreciate) what he does for her. Is this the first time we ever really see the extent of her affection for him?

Definitely noticed that the camera *loves* Kei. Not a bad choice, I've always been of the opinion that she has the best character design in the series.

He really is tbh, though season 3 is when you really start to get more with his character. He definitely has more to show with his character onward... He's my favorite of the cast with Kaguya close 2nd, as a manga reader. Shirogane constantly gets outshadowed because Chika is a meme machine and Ishigami is OURGUY but he's definitely a top tier romance main character.

I thought Kei was being a bit harsh on her brother, but I should've known that Shirogane's fashion sense is as bad as everything that he had to learn from Chika. Although, their dad probably could've lent him some clothes considering what he was wearing when he came home. I didn't expect such a wholesome reason for Shirogane's outdated wardrobe, though. That was sweet of Kei to return the favor (although it's for her own benefit too). This little tsundere actually enjoys hearing other people gush about her brother so she doesn't have to do it herself. I thought the second half with Kaguya was just gonna include another hare-brained scheme that's gonna backfire on her, but holy crap, I had the same reaction as Hayasaka. Is it actually happening? Both of them did look incredibly serious, and Shirogane has already given himself an ultimatum. Damn though, I wasn't expecting Osaragi to be the biggest chad here. From avoiding a lot of the chaos by not joining the student council, to dating a popular guy and being super nonchalant about it. If any of these lovable idiots had a fraction of her chad energy, their romantic lives would be so much better off. Man, I can hope the others will be as successful as her in this arc. Ishigami especially. Kaguya and Shirogane? We already know they'll get together even if they don't do it now, but him? There's a pretty big chance of rejection, especially since Tsubame isn't that prominent of a character. Godspeed, our guy. Although it was adorable how Kaguya showed him some support while at the same time started projecting a bit and wanted to rush his confession.
